Lots happens in this addition to the Reaper's Redemption series. It all starts with Ayla getting a visit from, er, the tooth fairy. Yep. First off, it's a he. Second, he looks like a overweight, balding accountant. Third, he wants Ayla to reap him. Warren even brought his own weapon. Seems he can't off himself with it but she will be able to do it. Yeah. No. He tells her she will regret it. Just then, she is distracted by an even weirder problem. Something is going on with Nicki.
I am not going to ruin the story for you. I'll just say that Sarah's past finally catches to them, Ayla ends up going to hell (without a handbasket but with a sexy angel), Nicki keeps suddenly maturing, Callum is suddenly finding Ayla irresistible (darn incubus), and Ayla manage to end up releasing a bunch of demons from hell. Bad, bad day. She also learns even more about her past lives and why Nicki exists.

This series is soooo good! And I am so in love with Azrael at this point. Like, I mean, Callum who? Sure, he's really hot. Hell, he's a firefighter! But Azrael... he's the Angel of Death. You can't compete with Death. He'll always win. Yup I have a thing for the Angel of Death. I can't help it. He's too fascinating. Now, is this really the end? or there will be other books after this? I need more!
Wow what an ending to this trilogy! It was non-stop tension, action and emotion, which all started with a visit from the Tooth Fairy! I loved that the Tooth Fairy was not your typically imagined cutesy winged fairy! Now if Ayla had listened to him at the beginning (yes him!), maybe the events of this book would have been a bit easier, or maybe not!
Things have changed for Ayla. Her friends Sarah and Callum are more than friends; they are her family. Family for whom she would do anything if she could! Along with baby Nikki, her life seems to be settling in nicely. There's still a worry about the tarot card that appeared on the doorstep at the end of the previous book, presumably aimed at Sarah, but there's been no communication since, so hopefully that will come to nothing! But of course it doesn't!
Nikki changes drastically. Literally! One of Sarah's fears emerges and everyone battles together to find a way to make it through this chaotic and scary situation alive! With the help of the Angel of Death, Azrael, Ayla uses her powers and visits a place she never thought she would get to see!
I loved how everyone came together in this finale to this series! Callum is experiencing strange feelings towards Ayla, but I so had wished they were real! Sarah is braver than I thought she would be knowing what is probably going to happen to her. Ayla was great as always - determined, strong, feisty with an inner strength that I could never have, especially not at her age!
My opinion of Azrael changes a lot in this one - yes he was his usual arrogant self, but the care, love and support he showed Ayla later on changed everything for me! And that bombshell he dropped! Wow! Oh yeah! I definitely was NOT expecting that!
This trilogy was fantastic and highly recommended, but you do need to read it from the beginning!
I received a copy of this book through BookSprout/the author, but this review is all my own!
Our heroine is in a tough spot, with her only real path forward requiring a very unhappy choice. Can she bring herself to make it and will she survive if she does?
This is book three of the series. While you will be missing some of the backstory if you start here, this book still does pretty well as a standalone. Just be prepared to want to go back to the beginning and start over afterwards.
This is an urban fantasy story with magic, witches, reapers and others. The story is well written and easy to read with a well developed setting that it just a step away from our own. The characters are also well developed and provide the meat of the story. I particularly liked our heroine who might not be entirely comfortable with her new role, but she is going to give it her all. The story moves at a quick pace and there is plenty of mystery, action and intrigue which combine to keep things interesting. Overall, this was a fun read and I look forward to going back and restarting from the beginning. (See, I speak from experience.)

Rise is the final book in in the Reapers Redemption trilogy. Where lots of questions that I had were answered about what transpired in book 2.. Ayla discovers secret about herself.. which isn't that surprising with what she can do. Sarah is super brave with powers that help Ayla save her friends but at a cost does she go through to save her friends? Callum is super supportive with all that he knows about himself.. and yes he has a secret about himself. Nikki is a special character.. created by powers she was the surprise at the end of book 2.. and I loved how she developed and what she did in the end. Throughout the story there are lots of surprises that I didn't see coming.. and the ending was the best ever.
Ayla is a reluctant reaper. She saved baby Nicki from Azrael, the Angel of Death, by having the demi-goddess Lilith enter her. Ayla finds out that every time she collects a soul, she also collects the ability of said soul. So when Nicki is kidnapped by Rory, a fae mancer and an unknown family member to Sarah. This 3rd book in the Reaper's Redemption series is full of action, some romance, and ends in a sort of cliffhanger (Depends on how one looks at it). Highly recommended.

Ayla is figuring out her new normal with Sarah and Callum by her side. When Sarah's family reappears, things run off the rails. There are fae, a fae mancer, Lucifer, demons added to the cast of characters in this book. Lots of action, some pretty funny scenes, some questions answered and others still open. I hope there is another in this series!

This is a wonderful conclusion to a fun and entertaining trilogy. I am hoping for more of these characters though. The main characters are defined, likable, strong, and have a quirky type of family unit. There is action, adventure, humor, and oddball secondary characters. I loved it.

The third book in this series and it continues to build upon the premise of the previous books. Still packed with action, adventure, magic, and danger, Rise is powerful in and of itself and propels this series to greater heights. The same wit and overall mood still holds strong here.

And here I thought things could not get any odder. But of course I was wrong and laughed my way through most of the story. A few surprises, fun characters, hilarious scenes and what was going on with Azrael added to the fun. Enjoyed it all. Easy to get sucked in and see what happens to everyone.
Oh wow! That was just a phenomenal story! What a fitting ending for Ayla! I love what she becomes, it is so awesome! I loved the whole Nicki aspect of the story! I wonder if there was a touch of the Phoenix in her. This was such a good book and series! I absolutely loved it!
I enjoyed this book a lot. There are several times where I could not read fast enough to find out what happened next. Characters are interesting. Several nice twists. What a surprise at the end!

Im not ready to say good bye to these characters, they have captured my attention and I am simply loving it. This has the drama and suspense that I have come to love from Thea and it was such an enjoyable book and series.
Clear the weekend and settle in for a wild ride with this series
This wraps our girls main journey but I'm hoping for more this story has some great potential to add to another series! These characters are dynamic and well written
Book Review : Rise (Reaper Redemption Series Book 3 ) Thea Atkins
A Reaper, A Nepilium, A Necromancer, Ex-Egyptian Goddess Nekhbet & Now Toddler, A Fae Mancer, The Tooth Fairy, Two Fae, Lucifer, And The Angle of Death All Walk Into A Cathedral...
Who Will Walkout With Their Life in Tack? And if They Do, Will It Ever Be The & Same?
We can't always pick our relatives, but we can pick those of us we wish to call our family. This ever growing odd family adds a new member in baby Nikki, but while Gramps is off to a Magic convention, can Ayla, Sarah, Callum & Nikki, settle in for some peace and quite or will they Rise to the upcoming Dire challenge or will they succumb to the Grim circumstances without Gramps & (will the wards of the home still protect Sarah this time), and Ayla gets a visit from the Tooth Fairy??? Then all hell breaks loose literally! But who's in danger this time? Will it be Sarah from her family, Ayla from those she must reap, Callum from the Supernatural Community of Dyre, or will the family be in danger from baby Nikki, or is it, all of the above?
Thea Atkins creation, of Dyre a small American town full of Supernatural beings, some good, some bad and some evil incarnate, all fighting, some for survival, some for love of family & friends, some for power and some because it's fun and they can!
Ms Atkins knows how to write real people as characters, both main & secondary. They're flawed, each hold secrets, their problematic and all have the capacity for good & bad. Some I love, some I want to love and some I love to hate, but all make me feel as if I'm right in the thick of things, experiencing a crush, the fear, falling in love, or fighting for my life, as if I'm right there along side them in the scenes fighting the good fight!
Ayla - A troubled young woman, in & out of foster homes after the death of her mother (& where she meets Sarah), that is till Gramps partition's the courts for her guardianship. Always trying to protect those she loves at her own expense. Rebellious, hard head, stubborn and my favourite character of the book, she has a lot of growing to do, in more ways than one and looked down upon by the towns folk as trouble making, vandal, who likes to light fires and never learns. Innocent, inexperienced & green in the ways of the supernatural community & Magic!.
Callum - The brave fireman of the town of Dyre and loved by all who know him, always willing to run headlong into danger. Has a strength, a strong willingness and is eager to please. Not yet ready to accept what he wants or who he truly is! Another loveable character, his need to be the hero an endearing trait, but not always needed, these girls know how to hold their own!
Sarah - Another flawed, troubled young woman in & out of the foster system, till she ran when her family regained her guardianship. Her family life, not one of love and affection. Has great knowledge of the supernatural, spells, runes witchcraft, Necromancy and wards. Handy to have around in troubled times. An absolute chocoholic, always stuffing her face on chocolate cake!
Gramps - The Elder Statesman of the Scooby gang, a once powerful Druid still wise in the ways of magic, quite and reserved, when he speaks, you listen. Calm & wise and a loveable character who you constantly cheer on and love like your own Grandfather. Makes a mean cup of Cocoa.
Azrael - The Angel of Death, I want to love to hate him, but there's just that thing I can't quite place my finger on with Az, that makes you love him! Is he in love with Ayla's past fallen Angel? And why is he helping her? A cruel, caring, rude, helpful, Angel of Death who wears his heart on his sleeve, when it comes to Ayla. Definitely more than meets the eye with this character, waiting to reserve judgment on Azreal!
Baby Nikki - The Former winged Egyptian Goddess Nekhbet, defeated by Ayla & the Scooby gang, saved from reaping by Ayla and living eternity in Azreal's Angel cane! Reincarnated into a baby, with no wings is time, but a baby what? Cared for by mainly by Sarah, with help from Ayla and Callum. Loved and fiercely protected by the whole family.
An exciting, action packed book, keeping me on the edge of my seat! Impossible to put down, this one had me glued to the screen reading faster and faster till my iPad couldn't keep up, then I had to slow! Keeps you thinking about the story and her characters long after the books finished and laid to rest.
No longer on it's way to being a favourite series of mine, it's already there!
I rate Rise 5⭐️'s out of 5⭐️'s, It Just Keeps On Getting Better & Better, Another Great Success Story Ms Atkins! You've done it again. A Simply Stunning Cover, A Simply Stunning Book! Can You Rise To The Occasion Again And Make it Three From Three 5⭐️'s Books In A Row In The One Series?
I received an advanced readers copy of this book to write an honest review in exchange for a free copy.
“Rise” is the third installment in Thea Atkinson’s urban fantasy “Reaper's Redemption” series, which features Necromancers, Angels and Grim, and offers a brand-new take on the Grim Reaper trope. Angels of Death are all but ‘angelic’, their curriculum for getting you into Heaven should be outlawed and Hell seem to be really empty, because all demons are here, surrounding Ayla every step of the way.
Ayla’s life has just gone from overcomplicated to sheer impossible…. After opening the Gates, yes those ‘gates’ ‘Callum’s life hangs on the balance, and to save him, Ayla will joint the devil himself, or most accurately the Angel of Death, which is about the same 😉 And don’t let us go into the fact that her recent acquire allure make her doubt Callum’s feelings and doubt their relationship. Fortunately for us, while Ayla suffers, we rejoice because let us be real here, Callum might be great, but Azrael is much, much more alluring 😊
A unique series, fast-paced, action-packed, suspenseful, with twists that challenge the status-quo regarding challenging the ‘Angel/Heaven’ perspective, with some paranormal romance triangle and enough slat to keep you on your feet… running (aka turning the pages with your thumbs). Entertaining story, great world, as long as it keeps contained in the books…. but in any case, if you get some cryptic ‘dm’ check back before running into the action, before you end up exactly where Ayla is….unless you want to 😉
Rise continues on from Dire. Ayla and Sarah are settling into their roles as parents for Nikki and life looks to be settling down.... That is until Warren shows up in the middle of the night and then baby Nikki unleashes a few surprises of her own.
We see a very different side to Ayla here. She has gone from not wanting to connect with anyone, to having people in her life she would quite literally die for.
There are some whiplash revelations thrown into this book that I absolutely loved and chuckled over. I could imagine Ayla trying to (or not trying to) put the whole thing together in a way that didn't make her head explode.
An awesome addition to this series and I hope there are many more to come!
I received this as an ARC which I voluntarily read in exchange for an honest review.
This is book three and the finale of the Reaper’s Redemption series. The main character is Ayla, who is also Nathelium, an entity tasked with collecting the essence of a dying supernatural, similar to a reaper as such. She lives with her Grampa who is away at a magic convention, her best friend and former foster sister Sarah, who is a necromancer and on the run from her family, and the baby Nicki, a reborn goddess joined with an angelic being, she had buried in the backyard in another lifetime and recently dug up. She has no memory of these other lifetimes and just had a need to uncover the baby. Another friend is Callum, a firefighter who visits often due to her frequent fire raising incidents, but who has also found out recently that he has angelic blood in his ancestry. There is also a baby owl in the house, who hangs around baby Nicki, having been killed by Sarah for a sacrifice, but then brought back to life by Nicki somehow. A strange bit of a household, but not as strange as what happens next. Ayla is woken up in the middle of the night by a short, balding fat man, who tells her his is called Warren and he is a Tooth Fairy, almost as old as the original one and he wants her to kill him! She is somewhat shocked at that request and refuses to do anything like that. She may be a Nathelium, but that doesn’t mean she kills people, no matter why they want her to. He soon reverts to threats to force her hands in ending his life. She is told she will regret not killing him when he first asked! She soon forgets this as a fire starts in Nicki’s crib and she and Sarah are thrown back by the flames. When they stop, baby Nicki is no longer a baby, but a toddler suddenly! Callum turns up with a fire engine, but sends the others away, seeing the fire is out and limited in spread. Ayla and Callum have a connection and although she is not quite eighteen yet for a month or so, she hopes for a proper relationship with him and he seems to like her in the same way at times. What she doesn’t know at that time, is that the magic from one of the beings she had reaped, an incubus, allowed her to gain some of their essence and magic, pulling Callum to her, whether he would normally have wanted to or not! He can’t physically resist her. Not the way she wants a proper relationship to start, at all! When Warren does reappear, he has a master to report to and a mission to complete. Nicki has been taken and Sarah is wanted for her necromancy skills, by a relative who wants her blood to raise another. There are multiple parts to the spell she is to undertake and it will end in Sarah’s own death. Ayla needs to recover from carrying out her duties at long last and the new tattoo she gets on her body, as well as the appearance of the Angel of Death, Azrael. Nothing is ever straight forward when the Angel of Death makes an appearance. She sends Sarah off to the crypts where she has been told to go, while she calls Callum to meet them. A fae mancer has control of some fae, the tooth fairy included, and is forcing them to do as he wishes, while draining their very essence, leaving them weak and unhealthy looking. He is far stronger than Sarah or her ever expected and Sarah wears herself out just trying to raise a load of skeletons to surprise him. Ayla uses another’s magic she has reaped, to accost the fae mancer and fool him for a while, but he is more powerful than she could have known and soon has Sarah and Callum held prisoner, as well as Nicki and her owl. Her subsequent actions will fall right into someone’s deepest plans, as she creates more chaos and opens the gates to a place she never should have. All done trying to save her friend and the baby she finds out was the result of two fallen angels having a child together. What powers Nicki has gained from her parents is unknown and probably for another time. The devil himself is playing with her and she thought she had an agreement with him, but he knows he can gain more from their pact than she would know. To save the Angel of Death, she had to make a deal with Lucifer himself and it is only Nicki who can save him from Lucifer. The repercussion of her actions could be there for a very long time! Azrael may have finally realised how important her friends are to her and how she thinks of them as family. They are all at risk now the gate is open and Nicki has undergone another transformation. They are all going to have to face a new battle against the beings that cross through the open gate, but that is for another time. A fitting finale and one where you really need to have read the previous books first, to understand the complex relationships between all the characters and Ayla’s previous lifetimes. Ayla was forced into some difficult decisions in deathly situations, with little choice in her actions. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Third book in this exhilarating series and shows no sign of slowing down or being anything less than what it is. AMAZING!!! Clearly you can see I have throughly enjoyed every book in this urban fantasy with sass, drama, touches of romance, riveting and diverse array of paranormals and a bit of mystery. Our heroine Ayla is one you can’t help but love. She is refreshingly real, with a tangible complexity that draws in you and has you wanting more. I would love to have more in this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Interesting series so far; enjoy all the action and the mystical paranormal aspects, and that Ayla is a survivor. She gets her booty kicked a lot, but manages to kick some booty too and survive some major danger. I’d like the overall story to be a bit further along since this is book 3, but I’m still enjoying the read. I’d recommend reading from the beginning of this series. Looking forward to seeing where this series goes.
Another great installment of this fascinating series. Covers so many twists and turns you get dizzy from the action packed fast paced read. Grabs your attention and keeps you onn the edge of your seat throughout.

Action packed, heart racing, thrilling adventure filled with dangerous and engaging charters, witty dialog, emotional twists and exciting turns. A highly entertaining and emotionally thrilling roller coaster adventure from beginning to end.
