I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book...

This is my first time reading anything written by Alex Gates. I really enjoyed the book; however, something was missing for me that I really can't put my finger on. Whatever it is sits in the back of my mind nagging me and that I can't put it into words. I hate that I can't describe it. I liked the plot as it was well written. I loved the characters though sometimes London's naiveté put me off some throughout the story only to redeem herself in other parts of the plot. She is a strong and emotional character that you can easily relate to. The political aspects of this story sickens me because I know this type of cover up goes on in the real world. There was lots of action and it was fast paced. I will be going back to read the other book.

Hush Little Baby is the second Detective London McKenna book by Alex Hate. Bloody hell, I could not believe that the second book could be so much better and she simply broke my heart .... I cried so much and I despaired and I could not put the book down...

She is a wizard with words ... i love London, her grit, her pain, her conviction... she is the one person you'd want to take your case when you are in trouble...and James ... I'm so happy she has him ..

You will want to read the first book before reading this one AND make sure you have enough time as you will not be able to put it down ... I know that like me you will find you have to read the second one immediately so take a weekend! Plan well and don't be afraid, there will be a third book and hopefully more ...

Thank you Alex! I cannot wait until October!

One of the best books I have read in a while!

I love to listen to the audios on the books if enabled. Thank you to all of the authors who allow that!
This book was fantastic! I truly enjoyed it immensely! I just had to keep listening and I could not wait for the next part of the story that I just had to get to. That walkabout every few pages or so!
I have never had the chance to read or listen to any of her books. That may be part of it as I do no know what is coming next, or when I will be able to go to bed. I found myself awake for three quarters of the past two nights.
What to me was amazing, I love thrillers and psychological thrillers. That was what truly amazed me, this was far from those that I read, yet equally enjoyable!
I highly recommend her as an author!

Love this author!! This book is so complex. The relationship between Detective London and James the FBI agent. She had went through a terrible ordeal at 20 when she was abducted and tortured. James was the agent involved in her case and she eventually trusted him enough to let him into her life. She is fighting against time to save the girls in a rehab center designed for troubled children that were being abused. The abuse is by several top ranking officials and London has to figure out the mastermind and shut down the operation. James and her life are in danger due to her involvement in the case. This book is hard to put down once you start it. It is action packed and full of intrigue. I can't wait to read the next story about London's cases. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

What a gripping read this was.

Starting with an abandoned baby, found by Detective London McKenna, the plot took us on a tension filled journey to corruption in high places, via a secure facility, a judge's chambers, an unplanned dip in the harbour, sleazy motels, high society fundraisers and more.

All the characters were believable, they were all too human, with failings and foibles. London in particular was scarred, physically and mentally. Her relationship with James was beautifully described and authentic.

The story also had a strong sense of place.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book via Hidden Gems.

Creepy, suspenseful, emotional, and thrilling! London is back and in the thick of things once again. I love a good thriller and when I can find a series as good as this one, I feel like I've hit the jackpot. Gates' gives us a gripping tale, full of suspense and action, and characters that are so real they practically leap off the page. The personal touches of London's past and her relationship with James add that little something that makes a reader feel like they know these people. This series is quickly becoming a favorite and ranking right up there with the likes of Patterson's Alex Cross series and Sandford's Prey series. I can't wait to see what comes next for London McKenna!

This was a great read with plenty of twists and surprises that had you guessing who really was behind everything. I haven't read book 1 in this series but will have to now after reading this book in the hopes to get that little piece of connection I feel I am missing from really connection with London, as well as understanding her relationship with James more. This book definitely sets things up for this to be a great on going series as you get to know many of the surrounding characters and you wan to know more about them.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Formulaic Pablum

The description of this book made it sound very interesting so I gave it a try. Sadly, the plot and main character were so predictable and formulaic I found myself skimming over the redundant angst-fests of London, the most disfunctional , naive and immature police woman character I’ve ever encountered. If you’re in the mood for something to read that doesn’t demand any more of your brain than eyes on the page give this book a try. If you’d like to be challenged a bit more give it a pass.
This book would have benifited from some good editing, proof reading and a judicious re-write . As is it comes off as a sloppy first draft.

Wow what a gripping and emotional tale and one that is being experienced daily in our society. It begins when a newborn is found in a store bathroom. The note that is left with her says, “I couldn't let them take her”. A detective determined to find the heartless mother who abandoned her baby had no idea where her investigation would lead. A tale of a corrupt judge and his elite friends. Human trafficking at it's worse. A gripping tale of life and death. A real page turner and so well written. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Not a Wow, but a Good Read

This book took me a while to get into it. And it wasn't until the last few chapters that I felt it was exciting enough that I just couldn't put it down.
I like the main character and her boyfriend, they compliment each well. But why does all the men she work with have to be so 1970ish? The way the speak and think are extremely backward for this time, maybe one or two, but every character?
I will try another one Alex's books, as I said, it is a good book.

Don't miss this book!

I rated this a 5 star because I couldn't put it down. So much action, such bravery, commitment to the truth, and caring for others. London is pretty messed up in her head after her horrible experience, but her heart is pure and she's tenacious in saving the innocent. Best of all, she beats the odds and well read the book and find out more. You'll truly enjoy it.

Riveting!

I love the way this author writes, the depth of character development, the way the plot races to another surprising chapter. The entertainment value of "Hush Little Baby" can't be denied. That being said, I won't give perfect marks because this book needed a bit of proofreading - the difference between a great book and an attempt at a great book!

I absolutely love London McKenna! She is full of grit and absolutely fearless! I know this book is fiction however it gives possible scenarios on how widespread and deep this corruption of using children as sex slaves really are. This is fast moving and full of suspense and danger. I couldn't put it down until I finished. I'm looking forward to Alex Gates' next book on London.

Honest Insights

I chose five stars because this book was easy addictive reading. The main character, London, was strong and yet scared in the most realistic every day issues kind of way that kept her relatable. Who isn't afraid of
love? Who doesn't experience fear of becoming a parent? This book wasn't a disappointment, I look forward to more readings from this Author.

We need more good cops like London in this world. How she manages to stay alive is amazing. With all risks she takes and all the near deaths you are kept on the edge of your seat until the very end. Looking forward to many more London McKenna stories.
