Landon Michaels is one busy FBI agent.

In addition to a special law enforcement gathering where he has an authoritarian presence, he’s in the midst of moving in with his girlfriend, Bay Winchester. It just so happens that the gathering – a conference where local police officers and agents can learn about new technology – is being hosted in his soon-to-be hometown of Hemlock Cove. In fact, multiple law enforcement representatives will be staying at the inn Bay’s mother and aunts run.

It’s a weekend that promises a little bit of everything, including work and fun.
Landon is looking forward to the event but nerves are eating at him and things only get worse when Aunt Tillie realizes that ‘The Man’ (in the form of multiple bossy figures) is going to be watching her every move for the duration of the weekend… and she’s not happy.

Landon is happy to spend time with Bay – even introducing her to a bevy of colleagues – but things shift a bit when a local woman goes missing and Bay becomes obsessed with finding her. Since she’s a witch and magic – and occasionally mayhem – follows Bay wherever she goes, Landon has his hands full putting on a good show for his co-workers and helping Bay stay out of trouble.

Landon is determined to prove that he can have it all, a magical girlfriend and her wacky family included. To get what he wants, though, he has to make it through a tough weekend… oh, and solve a crime on the side.

This is a short story set in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest world. It falls after Make a Witch in the timeline.

The heroine of the Witches of The Midwest series is usually Bay Winchester, witch, and journalist. Her beau is Landon an FBI agent. They made this story fascinating from a cultural perspective.

The central theme appears to be Landon's colleagues are holding their FBI workshops at Bay's family inn. There is 'boy' banter and competition for Bay's attention. The interplay is not interesting nor is the dialogue.

Landon makes sexual comments and overtures in front of Bay's mother, aunts, and the sheriff, who Bay considers a father figure. To a lesser extent, Bay's cousins and their partners behave similarly. Such behaviour is alien to my culture, so it kept me reading. Otherwise, I would have put the book down.

Landon is also far too physical with Bay. Manhandling her, such as grabbing her chin and lifting it is neither endearing or strong. More like bullying. Nor is his slapping Bay on the butt attractive. It's not respectful.

As much as I like Aunt Tillie, the sarcastic old dear, not even she could have saved this dull tale. When Aunt Tillie is interrogated by Landon and a second agent my hope for humour was dashed. Again it was boring.

I found nothing here to be excited about.

I personally really enjoyed this this short. It was fun getting to see Landon point of view. A nice change of pace. He has been getting overly mushy as the books go. We got to see him around his co-workers and I bet Chris will make more appearances.

3.5* I felt this was a little too light. The mystery definitely felt light, though I was actually happy that there were no dead bodies involved. A mystery reader needs a break from that now and again! However, having said that, I felt that there wasn't a whole lot of meaty substance. It also felt unfinished. For example, the thing between Aunt Tillie and the obnoxious agent didn't go anywhere after all the threats and implications. And, really, I'm ever hopeful that we'll see more consistent displays of witch-related actions, considering much is made of the fact that they are real witches in a "paranormal town", and very strong ones at that. I did give it a good rating as a decent transitional story in what has been a fun, ongoing series.

Landon Michaels is an active FBI agent. He has arranged a special law enforcement gathering in Hemlock Cove. He is also in the process of moving in with his girlfriend, Bay Winchester. The gathering is taking place at The Overlook, the B&B Bay’s family owns. Aunt Tillie is the last one to know about the gathering. She is shocked to learn that law enforcement agents from all over will be in attendance throughout the weekend. She won't be able to get by with anything, and she is not happy about it.

When a local woman goes missing and Bay is hell bent on finding her. Landon has his hands full as he tries to keep things from spiraling out of control without letting his coworkers know what is going on while keeping Bay out of trouble.

Series: A Wicked Witches of the Midwest Short
Author: Amanda M. Lee
Genre: Paranormal Cozy
Publisher: WinchesterShaw Publications

Landon is looking forward to the weekend, but he knows nothing will go according to plan. It never does when the Winchesters are involved. It’s really a matter of how bad it will get that worries him the most. His boss, Steve will be staying at the Inn along with other colleagues and Landon is concerned that things will get out of hand. After all, having all seven Winchester witches together is a guarantee that things are bound to explode sooner or later.

Landon Calling is one of the shorts by Amanda Lee that help readers get more in-depth with the individual characters in her A Wicked Witches of the Midwest series. The male characters are all different people, and Landon is the most well known as the boyfriend of Bay, who plays the biggest role in the series.

Although this is a short, there is a lot of action packed into the story. Aunt Tillie as always is of paramount importance to everyone. She is up to her old tricks, but for the first time, she gets to test her wit and skill against another FBI agent that neither she nor Landon likes. It is fascinating to see Aunt Tillie go after “the man” on her territory and watch as she causes more worry than normal.

This is a delightful story with characters readers have come to love and look upon as family. For those who have not read any of the series or shorts, it is advisable to go back to the beginning. It is easy to get lost or confused if the reader has no idea who the characters are or what they are talking about. Landon Calling is a delightful read, fast-paced and filled with everything a reader has come to expect from an Amanda M. Lee story. This short is highly recommended to Winchester Witches fans and new readers alike.

Sigh, I went into this book and was prepared to love it, because it is one of my favourite characters and I have been looking forward to this one for quite some time.

And don't get me wrong, it was a good short, just not as good as the others. Let me tell you why (I hid the review because of spoilers but I try not to divulge too much):
My most prominent reason is that all the shorts brought me closer the the character from whose POV it was told. I learned something profound and new about this character. Here that just isn't the case. The only new thing I learned is that Landon is in a one-sided competition with a douchebag and even their superior ackknowledges that it isnt a real one because Landon is CLEARLY the better agent.
Then we didnt get any of the dinner theatre everyone is so fond of even though this short takes place in the present.
Usually, everyone is concerned when law enforcement comes by especially since these are colleagues and the superior of Landon. There wasn't much of this here.
The conference was just an excuse to ... yeah, I dont really know for what.
I didn't feel anything was advanced here. Yes, they are moving in together soon, yes we had a talk between the Steve and Landon about that and we had schmaltzy stuff between Landon and Bay.

It just seemed to be superficial. There was so much potential here, but I feel it wasnt fulfilled.

This sounds super critical right now for a 4 star review, but I had very very high expectations for this one. Maybe too high.

Also, it was the first book I heard on audible and I will read the short on kindle once it gets out and see if that changes anything.

On a last note, maybe I expected to finally let them find out that Landon and Bay were already falling for each other as kids and to learn more about how his family is dealing with the witchy thing.

Landon is whipped and knows it

This was from Landon's first person POV.

The FBI is in Hemlock Cove, but not for the Winchesters for once. Some agents are staying at The Overlook, including Steve, Landon's boss. Aunt Tillie is not happy with this development. She doesn't like 'The Man' in her personal space, especially since she has illegal items in her nearby greenhouse.

Chief Terry contacts Landon to help him investigate the disappearance of a local woman and when Bay decides to help the investigation by breaking into the woman's house to search for clues... or a body, once she tells Landon what she did he wants to strangle her for risking her safety.

Will this development cause him to burst with anger and leave Bay again or will he simply shrug it off?

Something else pretty funny is one of the FBI seminars. Twila volunteers to be an actress in the scenario... as a dead body. Twila is very serious about her role and ends up laying on the floor dead through most of this book. This is all before Aunt Tillie volunteers to be the person that is interrogated during one of the seminars. Can Landon break her and get her to talk? By the way... nope.

Read to find out! Once again I'm disappointed because go magic is used. The witches could have at least used a locator spell to find the missing woman!

Next is I Dream of Twila.

Is this even a paranormal story anymore or is it all about crimes being solved and Bay and Landon's romance? This story didn't have any magic in it - boo hoo!

And honestly the romance between Bay and Landon is quite alarming at times, Landon borders on obsession about Bay and also how he reacts when she does something wrong - is not healthy. I am also surprised that the author is promoting a relationship like theirs, the underlying current of the relationship "very unhealthy" is hidden under the schmarmy-ness and their constant canoodling. Their relationship really only revolves around that and both of their codependency.

This story was pretty short and reading it from Landon's point of view - felt kind of like a cross between a female/male point of view. I wasn't convinced I was reading Landon.

It was short, so it was tolerable but ehhh I could have probably skipped this one.

FBI Agent Landon

I love this series and it only seems to get better with time. Landon is getting ready to move in with Bay but first he needs to get through a week of FBI agents and other cops being around the Winchester women. On top of that a woman goes missing. So while he has to attend cop stuff at the inn he is also helping Chief Terry with a missing person case.

Landon also has to not only contend with the Winchester women, his boss, Steve, but also a few other agents that are out to cause some problems, he has to deal with Aunt Tilly and she is in a mood because she had no clue about "The Man" being in her home for a week.

You will just need to read this story to find out how they all survive or do they?

Anyone who reads my reviews knows how much I just love this series each story is hilarious with Amanda M lee's special brand of snarky humor and happily ever after's.

Landon Calling a midwest short story was hilarious and highly entertaining, the story was told from Landon's POV and it really highlighted his devotion to Bay but also how much he loves his job as an FBI agent, I really enjoyed all the law enforcement officers descending on the Inn for the conference and how much fun Aunt Tillie had it all added to the fun of the story I also really enjoyed the missing person who wasn't really missing divorce really can be messy especially when one dosen't was the divorce.

Another wonderful short in a great series

This one is from Landon's point of view. He and his boss have a talk and it turns out that a group of officers is going to Hemlock Cove for an official conference and demonstrations. Landon takes a good bit of ribbing from his boss about his relationship with Bay but it's all in good fun.

There's a woman that seems to have gone missing, though, and Aunt Tillie is out to prove she can outlast anyone trying to interrogate her.

One quote I really like was 'Good deeds are in the doing, not the saying.'

There's also someone who ended up in a divorce but she can't seem to accept that her ex-husband has found another woman and that she is pregnant.

It's a fairly light-hearted story and it's as good as the rest in the series.

Loved it

The only real problem I had was it was way too short. She could have at least finished out the weekend. I also would have loved seeing Noah get his comeuppance. It would be hilarious if he tried to turn Aunt Tillie in to his FBI bosses for one of her witchy tricks and the boss sends Noah to a psychiatrist instead of believing him. Or catch him trespassing when he's trying to catch Tillie. Would just love him to get into trouble after all his attitude and stupid reasoning he did in previous books. Keep up the great job, just wish your books were longer and we got them quicker.

Another Great "Co-Dependent" Tale!

Every time I read one of Amanda Lee's book I wind up laughing my butt off! This one, for the most part, is about my three favorite characters- Landon, Bay, & Aunt Tillie! The banter between these characters & the rest of the Winchesters & "friends" is to die for. Inept Agent Noah is back still trying to catch Aunt Tillie doing something illegal. New "tool" is Agent Chris, who is just a winking idiot. There were so many great scenes - Twila's dead body act was hysterical especially where the family kept walking over her. These books are addicting & this one does not disappoint!

Aunt Tillie & The Law

Loved this book. Had me giggling for three days. The interaction between Tillie and Her family is fantastic. Makes me wish I was a Real Winchester! !
Landon has his hands full when he has a symposium to put on for all the FBI Agents and law enforcement personnel from the surrounding area. A pretend Dead body, and an interregation top the cake, then plus a real missing person , and it all takes place at the Inn., with Aunt Tillie at her best when she "takes down" an agent. I think she is my favorite character, although i'm thankful I don't live with her!!!!
WHAT A READ!!! Can't wait for the next book. Errrrrrrr. Installment.

A good short story

This story could have been a good full book. I would have enjoyed seeing Aunt Tillie curse a couple of the FBI agents that were rude and no one liked. This story was mainly about London and I liked that Sherriff Terry was in a bit of it.
The only con I have is I wish London wouldn't kiss Bay's backend so much. I liked him more than any of the other boyfriends because he was tuff and not p.... whipped. Now that can't be said. I hope he goes back to his old self soon.

Landon Calling :

I enjoyed reading this stories short. Amanda M. Lee always manages to make me smile. While reading I can almost picture the Look Over Inn. Landon is moving in with Bay. And his Boss decided to use Hemlock Cove for a Police Detectives training site! Aunt Tillie goes nuts when she finds out. To add to the craziness a woman comes up missing. Chief Terry has his hands full with that. Bay tries to help with case. Happy reading.

Absolutely hilarious as always!

I love the Wicked Witches of the Midwest series!! I have re-read every book at least once and laugh out loud every single time! It was nice to read a story from Landons perspective and to see his interactions with his boss and co-workers while juggling Aunt Tillie .

I seriously love the Aunt Tillie character she reminds me a lot of my grandma Ruby! I really appreciate the mystery and humor in each book and forward to each new adventure!

Loving the snark!

I love this series! It started out brilliant and just keeps up its excellence. Aunt Tilly is a wonderful character, as she would say, "she could be a professional at it." The supporting characters are almost as great, and truly bring the stories depth as well as humor. I'd recommend this series to anyone who likes snarky, imaginative, funny, witchy mysteries. Enjoy.

FBI FUN

"The Man" is descending on the Overlook Inn, and all over town for a law enforcement training siminar.
Aunt Tillie is up in arms, and ready for them.
Two of the Winchester's least favorite agents are participating, (Noah and Chris), and Aunt Tillie is going to do her best to make them cry.
Add a missing woman, a curious Bay, Aunt Tillie's greenhouse, and things could get dicey for the Winchester's.
So what else is new?
This is a fun short story in the WWOTMW SERIES.

Nice.

A nice simple short to turn the mind away from life's irritants for a short time. It's not very detailed but the characters are entertaining. Aunt Tillie is the linchpin as usual and she doesn't disappoint. The mindless entertainment value of this story is high enough to recommend this one.

Fun

This is a light hearted and entertaining short story. Hemlock Cove is filled with law officers attending a conference at the Overlook. Twilla is thrilled to be a dead body and Aunt Tilly brings agents to their knees during a demonstration of advanced interrogation techniques. To top it off, a woman goes missing. Fun, entertaining reading.

In this story Bay's FBI boyfriend and other agents and police officers hold a conference at the Inn. Landon and Chief Terry also have to solve a missing persons report. Meanwhile the witches are being their usual selves with as always Aunt Tilly in the lead. This is a wonderful story that will have you laughing and you can't put it down.

I love stories from the Winchester Witches universe!

Landon Michaels certainly has his hands full on this adventure! Moving in with Bay, helping run a demonstration/conference for his FBI unit and several other law enforcement agencies from the surrounding, and looking for a missing person.
Great story as told from Landon's point of view..

I absolutely love this author and the Winchesters! I hope the stories never end!

If you need a good escape and more humor in your life, read this series. Great characters with twists, turns, and laughs at every corner. If you don't fall in love with everything character, then there is obviously something wrong with you. Just ask Aunt Tillie!

Another wonderful adventure

Didn't think there would be another FBI agent that I could dislike, but that Chris character made my teeth grind and then Noah shows up and set my nerves on edge.

However, another wonderful Winchester adventure!! Can not wait until the next adventure to arrive.

I think the B plot should have been saved for a full-length book. There was so much comedic opportunity with Aunt Tillie and an inn full of law enforcement professionals! The A plot probably could have held up for a longer book, too.

For once, Landon didn't annoy the crap out of me, but I think it's because he didn't really have enough time.

Great short.

I really like the fun simplicity of this story. There's wasn't a lot of magic talk and no murders. After the very heavy story of book number 10 this one was a good jaunt into the friendliness and fortitude of the family. Plus, I am kind of hoping that Steve gets brought into the story more maybe as one of the sisters love interest??

So much fun.

This story is told from Landon's perspective. His take on the Winchesters was entertaining. The Feds and cops invade the inn for a convention. Hilarity ensues. The story and characters were intriguing and engaging. I look forward to reading more about these characters and their further adventures. This book is definitely worth reading.

Another Great Book

I've got the entire collection of Wicked Witches of the Midwest & have read about all of these once. I'm starting from the beginning again. I think this is one of my favorite books. I love it when Aunt Tillie takes a pain in the backside down. Plus it is sweet when she kinda sorta acts like she might actually like someone. Sorta.

Cops and the FBI at a conference at The Outlook

Landon's point of view is fairly consistent with the one presented in the other series. He loves Bay and his job, and don't confuse the order! An unexpected glimpse of Twila, an unwanted reality check for another character or two, and feisty talk all around.
