“H2.0” part three! Aquaman and Mera learn that the “strange water” they’ve been sent to investigate is in fact a gateway to an alien world that’s the source of Arthur’s recent troubles! And tensions flare between Aquaman and his less-than-heroic teammates over whether to make contact with this new world or destroy it!

Talk about getting transported to a whole other world. Dead Water is revealed to be a defense mechanism for an alien world within H2.O so that it can protect its borders of anyone that is too fearful of it. This is actually quite reasonable considering that people are more "shoot first, ask questions later" about things they fear very strongly. Mera and Aquaman don't seem to be detected as a threat at all and this sentient world actually considers them to be friendly, which is really cool. I'm convinced Mortimer is off his rocker, though. Hopefully he'll get what is coming to him next issue. In an interlude back at Atlantis, the Elder questions Tula about Arthur's attachment to the surface world and his prolonged absence. I can't say I blame him. Arthur bears a lot of responsibility as the king of Atlantis and hasn't been around a lot recently. It's probably a good idea I he retires a bit from his frequent surface world visits to solidify trust in the people of Atlantis.

This kind of feels like it'll basically be a one-off story, but as a one-off story I'm enjoying it. It feels oddly "The Abyss" inspired.

I LOVED this. A whole planet comprised of water? SQUEE! I'm excited to see more of this.

I watched Aliens, obviously Abnett stole heavily from that action/sci-fi movie to fill this storyline to the point where it became flat. The art is "fine" but doesnt fit the genre of campy horror/sci-fi that it desperately needs to supply mood to this comic.
Every character in this series is disposable except for Mera and Arthur. Abnett, of late has become the laziest writer DC has employed(where his Titans lately is garbage).
DC should come to grips that Abnett borrows heavily, and his stories often run longwinded into pointless origins, and cut bait with his storytelling, and have him mainly write one-offs which he is rather good at. Nice cover art, the variants are second only to the Hal Jordan GL cover variants.
