About the author

Nabaneeta Dev Sen is an award-winning Indian poet, novelist and academic. Sen has published more than 80 books in Bengali: poetry, novels, short stories, plays, literary criticism, personal essays, travelogues, humour writing, translations and children’s literature. Her short stories and travelogues are a rare combination of fine humour, deep human concern, and high intellect, which has made her a unique figure in the Bangla literary scene.

She is a well-known children's author in Bengali for her fairy tales and adventure stories, with girls as protagonist. She has also written prize-winning one-act plays.

In the middle of a reading slump, in between overachiever Elon Musk and overwalker Frodo, in the middle of an obsession with web series, comes a tall glass of cold water - my old favorite, my soul's sister Nabanita Dev Sen with her beautiful slice of life stories full of humor. With every line, my heart says, 'yes, yes, I would have written exactly this and exactly like this, if only I could.'

Every piece, be it about lost luggage on international flights, a newly married couple starting their life in US, two young students going through 20 steps to good luck on an exam morning or just what is love, the lady is just what a soul wants. Thank you Ms Dev Sen. Forever indebted.
