"Superman in the Slums"

Dang, this had the potential to be a bit better but in the second half it goes straight into crazy town. Superman tries to teach some morals to troubled youths who come from a bad area. One in particular is at a juvenile court be sentenced as his mother pleads with the judge in a fairly heart breaking panel.

Once his sentence is given out his friends try and do whatever it takes to get money together for bail. They go to their usual guy, who sets them up just like the friend in juvie but Superman steps in and decides to try and teach them morals and how to be better an such.

He does admit to the fact that the surrounding have a part to play as well and, okay this just nuts, tells them to go around the slums and tell everyone to evacuate because he decides to FLATTEN THE ENTIRE AREA!

The idea being in certain cases of disaster the city will rebuild with better buildings, but let's be honest even if these people DID have the money to live in these new apartments all their stuff is gone!

Even with the insanity aside, for the first story of 1939, it really kicks off the year!

Superman decides to completely destroy an entire neighbourhood so someone comes and builds better housing, which supposedly happens in a few weeks but no mention of if the people living in those slums could afford to live in the new apartments. Do like it though, how superman just decides if he wrecks shit it'll solve the problem regardless of laws or the military being sent after him lol.

Had the artists ever actually seen what kids look like? Kind of a weird ending that they were excited about projects being built.
