So when nothing’s tickling my fancy what do I do? Opt for a book containing my most loathed romance trope, amnesia and hope that one of my favourites won’t torture me.

description I never thought I’d get a second chance at a first time with you.”

Hot Mess is exactly why I’m well into double fingers when it comes to the number of Amy Andrews books that have graced my eyeballs, and if a fast-paced, steamy, engaging, quick-ish read with completely endearing characters and a lighter smattering of angst and guilt is what you’re after, is certainly worth checking out.

Bella and Logan have a past that holds a secret her family doesn’t want her to know about. Against his own desires, Logan agrees to keep the secret…at least for now.

This is a sweet love story about two people who have both gone through a horrible experience and have moved forward in the only way they can, which is alone. It’s a pretty angsty read and might likely cause some tears but I loved the way these two came together and found their happy ever after.

Told in dual points of view, this is a second chance romance. There is no mention of whether or not the hero had been with any other women and just a brief mention that the heroine had been with other men during their separation. The sexy times are hot and I enjoyed both of these characters.

4 - "I promise to fight for you..." Stars!

I am a big fan of Amy Andrews writing, after reading the blurb for Hot Mess, I knew I had to read it.

Amnesia isn’t as fashionable a trope nowadays, but when used well it’s still one I enjoy hugely, and Amy nailed it with Logan and Arabella’s story.

"I can handle the truth…"

"…We weren’t just friends."

Everything happened pretty quickly with this couple, their reconnection after eight years, is slightly different than the norm, in that on first meeting Bella has no idea who Logan is, although it becomes apparent to her very quickly that this is a guy she felt a lot for, from their conversations, him sharing stories from their past, and the hot-as-hell chemistry between them.

Too many it would probably seem fast. But it just felt right.

Secrets and lies always have a habit of catching up with a person, and Logan’s guilt at not sharing the whole truth of their past quickly becomes a problem for him, especially when it becomes obvious that the relationship between them is developing into more than just a quick fling while Arabella is working in town.

She was the fire that lit his soul.

I read this book in one sitting, Amy is fast becoming one of my go-to authors when it comes for a quick fix of sexy-hot, entertaining romance. And Hot Mess fits that category perfectly. Being the first book in the Hot Aussie Knights series, we have a whole lot more to come from the Knight family in the form of further books from the likes of Sinclair Jayne, Victoria Purman and Trish Morey.

I wasn't expecting this to be so emotional and heartbreaking. A very beautiful read about a young couple who dived in head first only to be ripped apart by tragedy. Years later and the hits keep coming and yet they have another chance. It's such a delicate line they walk but also a beautiful story told. If you're looking for a more emotional story that shows the depth of a love that beats all odds, this is the perfect book! ARC provided by NetGalley.

Wow. I was truly a hot mess throughout this story. My heart was on my sleeve for both Logan and Bella and I really hoped and prayed for a happily-ever-after for them. I just didn’t know if they could each get over the hurdles that has been put in front of them.

I don’t even want to summarize this wonderful story. I hope you will indulge me and understand that there is a lot going on, a lot of secrets, a set of parents that could be called protective but I would call over-bearing. There were friends who knew everything, stood alongside them as events unfolded but, at Logan’s instance, kept quiet about it all. There was a man who was truly in love with a woman and a woman who didn’t know if he could accept her as she was now. There was some talk about the past but it was just enough for you to understand exactly what they went through to find each other again. I was a little sad, a little happy and a little bit in love. There were times I wanted to hit Logan over the head and times that I wanted to wake Bella to open her eyes to everything around her. They were a perfect match that the fates threw together again and it was up to them to either embrace it or defy the fates.

Amy Andrews is a new-to-me-author and I am so happy that I found her. I am looking forward to more from her Hot Aussie Knights series. She wove a wonderful tale that incorporated just enough of the past with the present, just enough of the fire department and a whole lot of love. Her writing was interesting and fluid. She didn’t drag the story on but let it flow off the pages. You understood where each of the characters were coming from and where they hoped they were going. As I said, I didn’t know if they would have been able to find an HEA but they did and she wrote it in such a way that you knew it was the perfect ending to the perfect story.

What a dramatic, emotive story this proved to be! It features Logan Knight who spots Arabella Tucker, the love of his life who left him nine years ago, sitting, eating her lunch outside the fire station where he is based. He goes up to her and is amazed to discover she doesn’t know who he is and has no memory of their relationship, but also that the chemistry between them is still as volatile as ever. She’s only in Brisbane for a few months but the two can’t resist rekindling their relationship. However, their past contains other events which she is unaware of, tragedy which drove them apart. Should he reveal all or concede to her parents’ requests not to tell her? As the two grow closer together, secrets from the past still have the power to push them apart . . . . can she cope with her own past history and the tragic events now?

This is a very moving story, packed with angst and turmoil as Bella and Logan succumb to their mutual attraction but she can’t recall their past. The problems of living with memory loss and the attitudes of others to this are sensitively explored as part of this heart warming story. This author has a brilliant way of describing emotions, events and scenarios that bring them to life in the reader’s imagination and this is very true of this story which runs the full gamut of emotions from grief to joy and everything in between. It is a very different second chance romance and a brilliant start to a new series which I have no hesitation in highly recommending.

I requested and was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

Amy Andrews’s take on the second-chance trope is by far, one of the most angsty and the most intense one I’ve read in this genre.

‘Hot Mess’ is a story of heartbreak and rediscovery (with a huge twist written into this trope), and while not entirely unpredictable, does have the elements of deception (even though executed with the best of intentions) and misplaced hope that form the main conflict of the narrative. The coincidental meeting of Logan and Belle starts it all off when Logan gets the biggest shock of his life to learn that Belle has no recollection of their tumultuous past at all after a traumatic accident that stole 9 years of her memories from her. As they reconnect, Logan is desperate for their past to resurface, but it never does and that alone, strains their newfound relationship.

Andrews articulates the process of grief eloquently enough that I could empathise with both Logan and Belle. The former had never stopped hoping for a miracle that never came, leaving him alone to shoulder the burden of their difficult past and that made me feel for him, caught as he was between Belle's parents and his desire to move onwards with her. Belle on the other hand, had gone through so much on her own and faced a different kind of pressure in her inability to make herself remember, then condemning herself when she couldn’t.

But there isn’t a medical miracle here by any stretch and that alone makes the journey ahead so much harder for both of them. Andrews definitely paints a realistic portrait of what happens when memories are lost forever, and with them, how the pain and the heartbreak that will now stay irretrievably lost because one party cannot remember anything of that time period at all. Both Logan and Belle had been so brave, though it was harder for me to accept Belle walking away so quickly after vowing to fight for Logan this time around. That it was up to Logan to grovel in the end made me wish that Belle had a bit more courage in her to move forward and stick with that decision instead of running when she couldn’t handle things, especially since it actually had to take an accident for her to change her mind about them. Their HEA, after they finally hit rock-bottom the second time around, is a bittersweet one and you do feel as though the characters have sweated blood and tears to get where they needed to be, whether by fate or by coincidence.

‘Hot Mess’ by and large, did surprise me and it’s mostly because I’ve never quite read a second-chance romance like this. But it’s a hard book to ‘like’ because of the subject matter and as morose as I felt at the end, that’s in no way a judgement on Andrews’s deft writing at all.

Logan Knight is the son and the grandson of firefighters and he and his cousins are all firefighters in Brisbane, Australia. On the day of his grandfather's funeral he sees a young woman sitting outside the fire-station, imagine his surprise when it turns out to be Arabella Tucker, the girl he loved nine years ago.

Arabella has no recollection of Logan, she was in an accident and has amnesia. She doesn't remember that they moved in together or that after a tragedy she sunk into a deep depression and left him. But she does find the mysterious stranger very attractive and soon they embark on a hot and steamy love affair. But Logan hasn't been completely honest about their past, and it's gonna come back to bite him!

Grrrrh, all I seem to be writing today is "I liked it, but I didn't love it". I've skirted around what happened in the past, although it is revealed fairly early in the novel, to avoid spoiling but really that is all that happens. And they have lots of sex. All their talking seems to happen off-stage as it were, I have no idea whether they see anything in each other except animal attraction because there doesn't seem to be much connection. I didn't really connect to either Arabella or Logan, I was more interested in whether Logan's cousin Duncan and Ruth, the female firefighter will get together.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Logan Knight never thought he'd see Arabella 'Bella' Tucker ever again. Not after how she pushed him away nine years ago and he didn't fight for their relationship after the loss they suffered. Yet, now they have a second chance, if only he can convince her to give him one. Except Logan faces a major hurdle in the fact that Bella has lost her memories of their time together. Will being with Logan help her retrieve her memories or will Bella uncovering the secret he's keeping from her tear them apart forever?

Ms. Andrews writes such compelling stories that I always find myself getting hooked by from the very first page and this story was no different. Seriously, Hot Mess is a captivating read encompassing the second chance romance trope, where the characters have a lot to overcome. Not only because of Bella's amnesia, but because of her parents, Logan's job as a firefighter and the secret the hero is keeping. Will Logan win Bella back? Will she be able to forgive everyone that's keeping one of the most important secrets of her past from her? The way this story started with the prologue made me sympathize with Logan and the rest of his family. They've lost someone important and they're dissatisfied with the proceedings they're having to sit through.

As for the dialogue, it was intense, well-written and had me flipping the pages determined to learn more about Logan and his family. They're quite close and I liked that they could tease each other the way they do. It breaks the tension and stress they're under while on the job and shows that they'll do anything for each other, which is proven by what one of Logan's relatives do to bring the hero and heroine together when it seems all hope is lost for their second chance.

With the main characters, Logan was a marvelous hero and I could understand why he thought them spending time together might help Bella recover her memories. Will it happen? Will showing her various things that he kept from their time together help her? Also, I liked that he was supportive, even though it was hard to handle the fact that she doesn't remember their time together nine years ago. A time when they were so in love and there were so many fond memories including the one he's keeping secret that ended in heartbreak. The one that could rob them of a second chance if she ever learns the truth before he's ready to tell her.

While Bella, she's been through a lot in her past and has overcome so much to get to where she is. After her and Logan went their separate ways, it wasn't easy for either of them and I couldn't help but be affected by the heroine's emotions. She's a survivor and a fighter, which is proven by all that she's done since her accident to get to where she is. I also liked that she was willing to give Logan a chance, because they have so much chemistry that shouldn't be denied. Chemistry which was strong in the past and only seems stronger as they start over in the present and get to know each other again. But what I liked most of all is that Bella was willing to fight for her relationship with Logan this time, and didn't allow others to influence her decision.

Overall, Ms. Andrews has penned a fabulous read in this book where the dialogue, both the main and secondary characters, and the gratifying ending has me looking forward to more of this series. The way this story ended had me concerned for one of the secondary characters, but I liked how things turned out for Bella and Logan in the end. Someone in Logan's family wants him to be happy, and it's palpable that the heroine being back in his life makes him that way. But what I liked most about the ending was Logan's surprise for the heroine. No way was he going to let her go this time. I would recommend Hot Mess by Amy Andrews, if you enjoy the second chance romance trope or books by authors Sinclair Jayne, Trish Morey or Victoria Purman.

Arabella broke Logan's heart. She was the woman of his dreams, but she left him. When Logan sees her in front of the station, where he works as a firefighter, he feels he has to talk to her. He's surprised, however, that she doesn't recognize him when they meet again after nine years. Bella has amnesia and she doesn't remember Logan at all and has no idea why they broke up. They immediately click just as well as they used to.

When Logan speaks to Bella's father he's being asked to keep something from Bella. Logan doesn't want to do this and thinks she deserves the whole story instead, but because of Bella's happiness he gives in and does what they ask of him. The truth often comes out though. What will Bella do when she discovers what happened to them in past, will she give him another chance or will she break his heart all over again?

Hot Mess is a sweet and sexy romantic story. Bella doesn't remember anything about her time with Logan. She's a strong woman and deals with her difficulties in a brave way. She's kind and cheerful and I loved how honest and open she is. It's clear from the start that she's the one for Logan. He's passionate about both Bella and his work. He's a dedicated firefighter and I applaud his courage and determination. He's protective and doesn't want to see Bella hurt, but keeping the truth from her feels wrong. I admired his strength and the fact that he has a conscience. I love reading about men in uniform and he's definitely worth reading about. I also liked the amazing chemistry between him and Bella and read their story in one sitting.

Amy Andres has a lovely descriptive writing style. She writes about emotions in a great sympathetic way, which makes her story come to life really well. I enjoyed that she gives plenty of information about her main characters, so it's easy to get to know them through and through. It was fabulous to read about two very special main characters. I loved Hot Mess, it's a wonderful story with plenty of original twists and turns.

Title: Hot Mess
Series: Hot Aussie Knights Book #1
Author: Amy Andrews
Genre: Romance, Contemporary
Blurb: "I never thought I'd get a second chance at a first time with you."

Firefighter Logan Knight thinks it's fate when he meets Arabella Tucker again, nine years after their brief, intense relationship ended. Until he realizes that Bella doesn't recognize him and all of their memories together are completely erased from her memory.

Bella may be oblivious to their history but she can’t deny their scorching chemistry and the possibility of a future with the mystery man from her past. Logan wants a future too, but he can’t go there until Bella knows everything they shared. Her parents, though, want to protect her from the emotional cost of old memories and so Logan is reluctantly persuaded to let the past lie.

But when Bella starts to uncover the truth, she is shocked by the revelations. Can she move beyond the hurt of her shared history with Logan and begin their new story?
Thoughts: This is a sweetly written, second chance at love romance. Bella appeals to you from the very beginning, and you have sympathy for someone who has lived for years with amnesia without retaining memories from a certain gap in her life. I enjoyed how the author described Bella’s feelings when family and friends looked at her and the pressure she felt to remember things. Both characters have grown over the years, and Logan is eager to grab this second chance with the love of his life. Unfortunately, he lets her parents talk him into hiding information from her initially and – of course – it comes back to bite him in the rear. The author didn’t stick to the tried and true type of format typical for this genre and read either, which I also found refreshing.
Very enjoyable read!

Australia is a sweet setting for a guy who can’t forget and a girl who can’t remember who they once were, truly, madly, deeply in love. Logan and Bella were torn apart by a tragedy neither of them could cope with while so young. Logan never lost his love for Bella even though she refused contact with him and eventually fell off his radar, but never out of his heart. When he unexpectedly sees her, he is shaken by the fact that she does not know him at all nor does she remember anything of their lives together. Bella suffers from amnesia from a horrific car accident that happened and has a huge gap in her memories, memories of their time and their love. As Logan struggles to find a way to make Bella remember Bella struggles to make him realize it’s not going to happen. As the story progresses, you’ll want to fight for Logan and Bella to recapture the essence of them.

I really enjoyed "Hot Mess" by Amy Andrews. This is the first book I've read by this author and I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review, but I would gladly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of contemporary romance. This book grabbed my attention immediately. It is well written and the characters are so engaging. The story line left me flipping pages like a maniac desperate to see how the story would end. I'm definitely hooked on this series and can't wait to get me hands on the next book. I'm curious to see how the series will progress since it looks like each book is written by a different author. In the meantime, I'll be putting this author - Amy Andrews on my list of authors to check out. If her other books are anything like this one, I'll soon be a big fan.
Happy Reading...enjoy!

With my own deadlines, how fast I read this is indicative of how much I enjoyed it.

First up, I'm not a fan of the amnesia trope and don't usually read them, but I love anything Amy Andrews writes so I gave this a go and I wasn't disappointed!

Amy writes steamy romance, with incredibly sexy, strong heroes who meet their match in equally strong women. And I love her dialogue.

Logan Knight is a sexy firefighter, Bella is the woman who broke his heart years ago but can't remember following an accident that almost claimed her life.

Loved this!

This book surprised me with how emotional it was. I’m not a fan in general of amnesia plots because too often there’s a quick fix involved that papers over all the cracks and suddenly everything’s fine again. That is definitely not what we get here, instead it’s painful and hopeful and sad and sweet, with grief and love and history all combining to make this an absorbing read.

Logan has a hard road ahead in this book. He starts off seeming like a regular Aussie bloke, a firefighter who isn’t entirely PC at times, but once Bella walks back into his life he’s soon revealed to be a guy who feels deeply and with an intense loyalty that not even nine years and a decade of lost memories can remove. His hope that Bella would somehow suddenly remember everything, and the main reason why, was almost as painful as his grief over what tore them apart the first time. I felt for him so strongly throughout, not least because of the dilemma he faces over what to tell Bella and when.

I liked Bella too. Her strength in rebuilding her life despite her lost memories was admirable, and I liked how she fell for Logan all over again. I also felt for her when Logan was hoping so hard for things she’d already grieved over. She’s extremely patient with him, even though it hurts them both. I was, however, a little frustrated by her lack of fight at the end, when she’d promised she’d do better this time around. I was also annoyed at the predictable way a few things were resolved, but as long as Logan was happy, I was ultimately happy too.

Overall, this is an emotional, stirring read that doesn’t pull its punches when it comes to grief and love. If you’re expecting something sexy and light, you won’t find it here, but if you’re looking for something a little deeper that doesn’t go in for magical quick fixes, then give this a go. I look forward to learning more about the Knights.

Hot Mess was an interesting take on the second chance romance trope. Normally, both characters remember their time together and what drove them apart. In Hot Mess, Bella’s memories are gone. She doesn’t remember ever knowing Logan or anything about their year long affair. It was heartbreaking to watch Logan excited to see Bella after years apart only to find out that she wasn’t quite the same woman that he once fell in love with.

I enjoyed these characters and the story. There were some moments in the beginning that made me kind of cringe and I wasn’t quite sure I’d like Logan and his fellow firefighters. Eventually though Logan became the kind of man I was hoping he’d be. He still loved Bella and it didn’t matter to him that she no longer remembered him, he wanted to be with her anyway. Bella was a very strong character. After everything she’d been through she stood tall and didn’t let the fact that she lost so much of her life hold her back.

I definitely recommend this book. I’m not sure if I’ll read the other books in the series since they are by different authors, but I’ll put them on my TBR and see if I can get to them.

Stop! Go to the store and get lots of tissues. This is a weepy read. I believe this is the best from Amy! I walked away a lot. Logan was sitting outside of the firehouse thinking about his previous girlfriend. He looks and walks over and finds it is really is Bella. Surprise! She doesn't know him. She tells him she has amnesia. She has lost the last 9 years. She has also lost something. Major Spoiler! He talks with her and is bound that she will come back and remember. There is a major loss that will drive you to cry. He loves her. Bella has come to love him again. Logan is to call her father but she sees a photo to break her heart. Now time for tissues! I had to put it down often. I liked this story. Amy really gave us the best people. Please check out this story for you. Stash the tissues! I would still recommend this book for a mature story. Enjoy reading this book! I volunteered to read and review this book.

A second chance romance between Logan and Arabella, but the only problem is Arabella does not remember the first the time . A scorching hot chemistry between the two but can they go forward with out Arabella remembering the past. Her parents want the past to remain history but Logan wants to move forward.

Loved this story of a rekindled romance. Great job with the amnesia of Arabella. Very likable characters, Once the truth came out, I was just rooting for Logan and Arabella to succeed in their relationship.

Looking forward to reading the rest of this series. I highly recommend this book by Amy Andrews.

Hot Mess is a unique second chance at romance which literally makes a reader think about what ifs.
Both Logan and Bella shared a past, nine years ago, a very intense one at that. When they meet again, it literally feels like the first time because of what Bella had gone through. Now as both Logan and Bella embark on their new relationship, can memories of the past make them stronger or break them apart.
Hot Mess is poignant, hopeful and intense. The relationship between Bella and Logan makes you really believe in fate.

I thoroughly enjoyed Hot Mess! The romance was great, but I loved the relationship between Bella and Logan. After an accident Bella suffers from amnesia, and lost 9 years of her life including the wild, passionate romance with Logan. When fate brings them back together, Logan must accept that Bella is no longer the woman he once knew, and that it's up to him to fill in the gaps of her memory if he wants a second chance with her. Amy created wonderful characters, a steamy romance, and authentic relationship that wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. I would highly recommend this book and can't wait to read more of Amy's work.

What a perfect mix of fun, sarcasm, joy, angst, sensuality, fragility, sexy, tenderness, pain, loss, love, passion, adoration... A story that completely floored me, had me laughing out loud, going 'aaw' and swooning, smiling, and crying or more like sobbing, really.
I loved the story, the originality and the uniqueness of it, the tough choices the author did boldly, the fragility of it, yet the strength of the feelings that carried over time and distance, and all loss and troubles.
Firefighter Logan Knight was doing well, his life was in order, he had a job he loves, the brotherhood of the firefighters, his family, and friends. Yet he had an empty space inside of him that still held the one woman he had ever loved, Arabella Tucker. Logan was such a strong character, his loyalty, strength, honesty, openness just a few of his great qualities. He loved with his whole heart and was not afraid to take risks. The choices he made were tough, yet there were obvious reasons for them, reasons I could not blame him for.
Arabella "Bella" Tucker was a survivor with guts and sass and contagious laugh. I can only imagine the pain and confusion she had gone through and continued to do so, with her amnesia. How her situation with the amnesia was affecting others around her, and Logan in special, was heartbreaking. That little shimmer of hope that never goes away, maybe today they will remember...
I want to applaud the author for not taking an easy solution here, but going for the tough one, the one that resembles life, the one that made the protagonist grow, to develop into these amazing people who can make compromises, who can learn to love in hard situations, who can learn to accept the difficult things in life.
This story got all my emotions churning, I don't remember when have I gotten so emotional while reading a story, if ever, and I mean in a good way. I was so connected to the characters, it was like feeling their angst, loss, pain, joy, love, desires as the story unfolds. The loss is so great, the pain is so tangible, the confusion so real, the past still so raw it was heartbreaking. But there is hope. There are hard choices, compromises, there are difficult conversations, and there is a lot of love, passion, and adoration, making Hot Mess an absolutely fantastic story, that I love, adore, and feel passionate about.
It is going directly to the 'The Best of 2017' file.

Although this is part of a bigger series, this book completely stands alone – it *does not* end on a cliffhanger. There is both cursing and sex in this book, so if that's a turn off for you, you should skip this one.

I decided to request this book through NetGalley after reading a blogger's early review on it, and I am so glad that I did because this book was fabulous. The premise of a amnesiac character made me hesitant because I've read a couple that were – frankly – awful, but this story is an amnesia storyline done right.

***SPOILERS*** So many spoilers.

I cannot explain how much I appreciate the fact that Ms. Andrews did not write a book where a hot man with a mythical gigantic (ahem) “magic wand” seduces the amnesiac and POOF the magic sex cures the woman's amnesia. This story *actually deals with* the topic of a character living with amnesia, and the repercussions of that affliction rather than using it as a cheap plot device. Because of that, putting this book down to do “real life” things was difficult, I just really needed to know if Logan would find a way to meet Bella where she was rather than hoping she'd be magically fixed, and if Bella could forgive Logan for his transgressions.

Although I started out unsure of whether I was going to like Logan (the sexist and crude first scene at the firehouse set my teeth on edge), he absolutely was not the pig that I thought he would turn out be. The way that he loved Bella, the way that he craved having her in his life, was beautiful. Although he made mistakes along the way, his devotion to her was swoon-worthy and he was everything I wanted in a romance novel hero. And Bella was just as likable. She was incredibly strong considering her situation, and even when things get so inexplicably horrible, she was strong and self-sufficient. She didn't NEED Logan to make her whole, she was going to be fine on her own and I loved that. I do hope we will be reading more about Duncan in the future.

If you're looking for a read that will make you smile and then push you to the brink of tears, and that will make you fall in love with the main characters, you should definitely read this book. I am so glad to have found this author and look forward to reading more of Ms. Andrews' books in the future.

I requested and was generously granted an ARC of this book via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to write this review, I did so because the book was really great.

As I was reading Hot Mess I couldn’t help but place myself in Bella’s and in Logan’s shoes. How would it feel to lose almost a decade of memories? To not remember a man who you’d obviously loved and had a history with. And sharply on the heels of that thought came… How would it feel to be the one forgotten? Knowing it wasn’t a deliberate act, but having your existence wiped from someone’s memories, someone you’d loved, someone who you had a loving and tragic history with. If simply imagining it through my own eyes brought about such an emotional response in me, how much more painful would it be to actually experience it – unimaginable. And yet, it’s what an amnesia victim would have to deal with for the remainder of their life.

Logan and Bella’s story is heartbreaking on some levels, and hopeful, realistic on another level. I completely enjoyed their romance. It’s deeply touching, emotionally charged and so very believable. No one in this story was at fault. Although I certainly didn’t approve of some actions, I did understand the reasoning behind them. We are the sum of our memories. While there are certainly some aspects of past relationships I’d love to forget, knowing of them makes me who I am today.

Hot Mess is a powerful love story, one that I believe any reader of Romance no matter the genre would appreciate and enjoy. I was deeply touched by this couple, their story and the effects that one tragic moment had on their lives. I’d highly recommend this story, you’ll be emotionally touched at the very least – and perhaps hold your own memories, good or bad, even tighter to your heart.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I am normally pretty leery of books about fire fighters having run as a volunteer firefighter for several years plus taking a lot of advanced training and classes. But Ms. Andrews obviously did her research with this book about fire fighting and the mind set required of this job.

Logan and Bella have a past but only Logan remembers it. Bella was in an accident about a year after they broke up that left her seriously injured and suffering from amnesia. She has lost 7 years of her life that will not return according to her specialists. In those missing years, her romance and break up with Logan are included.

Bella happens to be in Brisbane where Logan is a firefighter. She is now a paralegal for her father's law firm and is there on business. One day while on her lunch break, she happens to sit across from the firehouse where Logan is stationed. He recognizes her but she has no clue who he is. But one thing about firefighters is that they are persistent. And thus the book begins.

I actually made myself slow down reading this book since I didn't want it to end. The descriptions of Australia in the book are fantastic. The characters are well developed and the pace of the story is steady. This is a book you will want to re-read a few times.
