Virgin Fiancée

So we’re engaged. Sort of.
He just needs his family to think it’s real.
No problem. I’ll play along. How hard can it be?
But pretending isn’t supposed to feel this good,
And now I can’t help wanting him for real.

My old roommate used to help me pay the rent. Now the only roommate I have is my orange tabby, and despite everything I’ve done for him, that jerk has never paid me a cent.

So when my landlord knocks on my door, I brace myself for an eviction.

Instead, he makes me an offer. I can stay for free, as long as I pretend to be his fiancée. He says it’ll make his sick mom happy.

Raphael Holt is wealthy, handsome and has dazzling green eyes that makes me want things I don’t even understand. He lights an unfamiliar fire inside me.

So I say yes.

But none of this is real. There’s no way someone like him could actually want to be with a penniless virgin like me. Not when he could take his pick from any of the single girls in the city.

I’d only get my heart broken if I believe any of this is real. And I might lose my home, too.

So I’ll play along. I’ll be the perfect fake fiancée and nothing more.

I can resist that cocky smirk, that lustful stare, and that dirty mouth. I can ignore the way his deep voice sends a chill down my arms every time he says my name. Of course I can.

This is a standalone, full-length novel of approximately 60,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhanger, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Includes bonus content!

I'm always wonder how people have the same words to use to write and depending on who's telling the story, these words can make you feel emotional or indifferent. They can connect you to the story or not. They can keep you interested or not. This book is in the NOT roll.
I felt no connection, attraction, love or chemistry between the male and female characters. Every interaction between them was so robotic lacking in any feelings. The author was always telling us things but I never saw whatever she was trying to make me believe about her characters.
I really despise a weak, doormat pathetic bending over for the hero female. But I found out in this book there is a worse kind. The convenient one. The one who has no desire to succeed, even if the author tries to tell me over and over she's really struggling and fighting to be a strong independent woman. She's not. She so comfortable on letting her bff cover her bills for her that's she's settled. And she's inconvenient. Clueless. At the beginning of the book her bff is moving in with her bf and the heroine is thinking what she's going to do now that she won't have her to cover for her. I mean, how pathetic. Her bff says if she ever needs help she can ask. I mean, she's a good friend to you. For how much longer are you going to rely on her good heart? Grow up.
And when she leaves the studio she lived because of a fight she had with the male mc where does she go? To crash in her bff and bf couch. For the sake of all weakness!!Her friend just moved in with her bf. Give them some space. Stop being a leech. I say this because I went to live with a roommate when I was 19 years old and I always paid my bills on time.
She's also a hypocrite. A big one. When the hero makes her a proposition for her to be his fake fiancée to show his family he was a changed responsible man and for this she would live rent free for a few months she didn't bat an eye. She accepted it. She was going to lie/deceive a bunch of people, right? Then the male's mother gifts them a trip to Paris. Private jet, big mansion, sight seeing. All paid off. What does she do? She jumps on that plane and flies. No question asked. She called her bff to tell her she was going to Paris. Her bff asked her if she was sure about this. That she didn't know him well. That she should be careful, yada yada. She was still being a good friend. This female mc just tells her she knows him enough. She will forget this pretty soon. And she will also forget her part in the lies too when they get back from Paris. Her bff tells her she found out he was lying about his mom cancer condition ( that's the excuse he gave her for the fake fiancée thing) and she flipped. She cried and screamed and accused him of being a liar and she couldn't trust him anymore. At this point I was laughing. Really lady? You accepted an offer that was already a lie for free rent, you accepted a gift from his mother to go to Paris knowing you were deceiving the entire family. You took advantage of the good things his money could buy and then you acuse the male mc of lying. You should take a look at yourself in the mirror. To forget so soon you are also a liar. And a cheap one. Then she goes all dramatic and leaves her studio with a penny in her pockets and where does she go? Yep, to her bff's house. Again, taking advantage of her good heart.
This female is indecisive, hypocrite, weak, inconvenient. She has zero determination in her life. At one point she compares her life with her bffs situation. Her bff never had to worry about money. She was very unlucky in life. The poor me I'm so unfortunate act. I have zero sympathy for pity party.
If she stopped relying on other people to solve her financial problems maybe she should change her situation. But I guess that would be too much trouble. And the male mc.... well, he is so bland and uninteresting it's not worthy to talk about. But an alpha... he wasn't.

Nikki Chase you have out did yourself again with this book!!!
I absolutely love the characters. This book is so eloquently written. You fall in love with the characters as they fall in love with one another.
What starts as a fake engagement, turns into the real deal. Their relationship turns into a love that is just so beautiful.

Rafe and Piper come into each others lives when they least expected. Piper is not able to keep paying for her apartment so she is going to have to move in with her best friend and her boyfriend. Rafe is Piper's landlord and is trying to evict her since she is behind on rent but he soon realizes that he wants to have his way with Piper.
Rafael is an ex-con that took the fall for a drug charge and went to prison. Since he has been out of prison he went back to work for his family in the banking industry. Rafe has been trying to get his position back but his family thinks he is still irresponsible and not mature enough to have more responsibility.
Rafael comes up with the idea of Piper being his fake fiancee for a few family gatherings in exchange for free rent. But will his family believe him or will they both get hurt in the process?
Nikki Chase has written a great book. It will not disappoint anyone who reads it.

Everyone's Dream...to be free of money worries, whether large or small. That's what Piper thinks, but she wishes she had at least some money and not struggle. Finding out your now ex boyfriend cheated on you doesn't help. Can things get any better. Well if you call Raphael Holt better, well yes they do, in a way. Although deep down Raphael is a nice , decent guy, he does things in a quick fix kind of way. He needs a fake fiancé but you can tell things won't go as well as he thinks. Lies....you always get caught out in the end and they just get bigger and bigger. Piper is just a down to earth girl, wanting to play her music, get a career but really she is just what Raphael needs and wants. He was a bit of an idiot at times but Piper made him see the error of his ways thank goodness. Loved it, especially McClaws the cat.
The other short story Stripped I had already read previously. That was good too.

As usual Nikkie chase didn't dissapoint.Raphael is a rich man and all he wants is to be tooken seriously in the family buisness well hard to do when your dad still looks at you as the druggy you used to be. then he talks to his cousin and she tells him he needs stability like a girlfriend or fiance would probably help his dad see him for the new man he is. only problem is he has noone so he comes up with a sceme hell just find a woman to play his fake fiancee enter Piper. Will this work out will everyone get what they want read the book to find out. This is a standalone with a HEA.

This is a new to me author and while the book was easy to read I did find the characters hard to like most of the time!
I mean Raphael was a cocky jerk and a big liar and not just little white lies, he made up big ones to get his way, it wasn't until the very end when he decided to be more honest and for me it was too late, damage done, how could you trust him?!?! BUT having said that it made Piper seem like a hypocrite as she straight up excepted his proposal to be his fake fiancee and lie to his whole family but then when he lies to her she leaves?!?! I mean she took advantage when he was flashing his cash at her, free rent and trips to Paris but then flips when she finds out he lied. He also just expected his family to trust him with his business decisions and give him more responsibility because he had "served his time", conceited much!
Piper, ugh was annoying for most of it, it was like the author wanted us to be sympathetic towards her and her struggles but I just couldn't get past how quickly she used others, especially her best friend to bail her out all the time with no real drive to get herself ahead.
The connection or chemistry for me seemed to be missing between the two main characters, it felt forced and we seemed to get a scene from one POV and then the same scene from the other POV, seemed repetitive.
Overall it was easy to read but for me the characters were not to my liking.

Raphael Holt worked at the family bank. Because of his past mistakes, he couldn't have the position he wanted unless he could prove that he had changed. One way to do that was to get married. The problem was that he didn't even have a girlfriend. The solution came when he met his new tenant, Piper Ford, who was at a vulnerable state and needed money. It was the perfect time to make his proposal for their fake engagement, it was something that benefited both of them so she gladly accepted. The plan was working well until she started figuring out his lies. For the first time in his life he had fallen in love and he was ready to change. Would Piper be able to forgive and forget?

Fake Fiancee is a contemporary romance about a college student, a rich playboy, and their fake engagement. It's a well-written book with a fun storyline and many sexy scenes. The characters are great, Piper is quite relatable with her money problems and her dreams. Raphael was somewhat relatable as well, based on his attitude. I liked that both characters appeared vulnerable at some point and self-conscious. That made them more realistic. I loved the whole story but the epilogue was my absolute favorite. I will rate it with 4 stars.

Raphael and Piper

I honestly think I liked the free book, Stripped, better than Virgin Fiancé. Jake and Jessica just seemed easier to like...although I'm still only giving each book a 3 rating because there were a couple of elements I just couldn't get behind.

Rafe's character was NOT likeable...when he decided not to take advantage of Piper's innocence I thought, okay maybe he's not so bad, but then RIGHT AFTER he says "you're a good f*ck, let me be the first to tell you" ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? From that point on, even though I liked the storyline, I just couldn't give the book enough credit beyond a 3 rating.

Stripped had a good storyline as well, and I was nicely surprised by the bad guy...didn't see that coming...but Jake was more a$$hole than alpha at times and that just turned me off from him. When he took control in the bedroom it was sexy as he!! but that was his only good quality for me and that can't support a book for long.

Anyway...both good reads I guess...easy reads...with a bit of drama and intrigue and pretty good love scenes...but that's about it...just okay.

Hearts and Lies

Raphael is a liar. He can't seem to help himself and it's never malicious, just convenient. At the moment, Raphael wants to get approval from his family that will translate into more responsibility in the family business. That means he needs to show that he's "grown up"--a steady relationship would do it for him. Enter Piper. She's a tenant to whom he's come to serve an eviction notice. But there's something about her. They come to an agreement--she'll pretend to be his fiancé and he'll forgive the past due rent. What could go wrong? A major attraction? A Virgin fake fiancé?

Raphael is used to getting what he wants with women.
But now he needs one to play his fiancée, Piper needs something else, money to pay her rent. So Raphael makes her a deal.

But to his surprise he gets feelings for her and to his bigger surprise she is a virgin. But she doesn't stay that for long.
Of course there is trouble in paradise, life is never easy in romance. But after that Raphael has to work really hard to get Piper back.He has to stop lying and trying to solve everything with a smart remark. But he does realize what he is loosing without Piper, so he is working really hard.
When they make up the sex is just as hot as their first time.

The story of Piper and Rafael will not disappoint. Rafael gets into trouble with the law and ends up in prison much to his very wealthy family's disgust, he then tries to illustrate his maturity with a fake fiancée which is also not a good idea. Piper is a struggling student studying music who is going to get evicted by the property company that Rafael owns and this is where the plot thickens. Piper goes along with the fake engagement for a little while. However, decides that one too many stories by Rafael is one too many and disappears. This story is yet another fantastic five star read by Nikki Chase that will not disappoint.

Hot lies but sizzles

What amazing read. Handsome, wealthy, but always the joker Raphael Holt needs to prove himself to his family. A fictional fiancee lands him in a quandary when family insist on meeting said fiancee at two functions. Now where does one conjure up the right woman to act the part upon short notice?
Piper Ford is behind on rent. She's about to be evicted. She needs a miracle. It arrives in the shape of Raphael Holt; her Landlord. He proposes to overlook two months overdue rent for her company to two functions as his fake fiancee. Its hot and sizzling and the sexual chemistry is combustible. Awesome read.

I liked this story but I don't have to read it anytime soon. She's 21 and he's 30. She's a college student. But yet she has a sexy red dress to wear when she goes with him to a wedding. And when she goes on a date with him out to dinner she's got a little black dress. She borrowed these from her friend Carly? She's not supposed to have any money so where did she get these nice dresses? She's a virgin. When he has sex with her he doesn't even wear a condom. And is she on the pill? None of this is brought up. He has sex with everyone. So why isn't a condom brought up? Didn't she ever talk about this with the friend Carly?

A lot of lies and work to make things right

Overall quality of writing was good. As much of the story that was good, there's a lot that isn't. Lies are bad! No lie is a good one. Lies about your mum having breast cancer is simply wrong on so many levels! Saying you get PTSD from being in a mall remembering of times shopping and carrying bags is not right either! Rafael and his Princess do work things out, they do get a happy ending, and there isn't any cheating or cliffhangers.

A Quid Pro Quo Lease

Often irritated by Piper's refusal to think a bad thought, the trait had a remarkable converse impact once she realized she'd been betrayed. Raphael is less rake and more Peter Pan, but he gets where he needs to go by the end, and propelled there by strong women who don't enable Alpha-holes. Altogether, a pretty good read, in spite of any personal quibbles I might have had with minor plot points/secondary characters.

Erotic, romantic fun, for sure - and I love that the version I read included the book I intended to read, a bonus book, and the previews for two others. That said, the author definitely needed better editing help - the numerous typos were a bit distracting.
