Moments #2

Perfectly Flawed

Rate this book
Natasha and Gabriel are thrown into parenthood and this should be one of the happiest times of their lives, but unforeseen circumstances and deep-seated problems within the family destroy their happiness, rocking the very foundations of their relationship in a way they could never have imagined. The gift of new life, rather than creating a special bond between them and bringing the pair closer together, is tearing them apart.

Josh, Natasha's ex, is back on the scene with an offer the family are unable to refuse, forcing old feelings to resurface and bringing further complications to Natasha's life.

Perfectly Flawed is a second-chance romance novel. There's no denying that Natasha and Gabriel's relationship had anything but the perfect start, so don't they deserve their happy ever after, their perfect ending?

This book falls into a very rare category, it is better than the first and I have to say I didn’t actually think that would have been possible because book one was fabulous.
Any way as this is the continuation of Gabriel and Natasha story, so please ensure that you have read Perfect Imperfections first.
Their lives have taken a new direction and in many respects, it is one that should make them the happiest they have ever been but not everything is as it should be for the pair of them and they find themselves facing a mountain of uncertainty and in its wake, a plethora of problems that if they don’t navigate carefully, will have the capacity to derail everything they have been working towards.
I thought the authors were very articulate with their descriptions of what exactly was going on and how those events were driving a wedge between the two of them, they had to face some harsh truths but in order to get to where they needed to be they also had to learn to pull in the same direction…instead of allowing every single minute detail to blow up in their faces and drive them apart.
For as much as I can say that I loved Natasha and Gabriel, I can honestly say that I thoroughly disliked Josh, Natasha’s ex.
He had his place in the story, yes, I get that but he got on my nerves and while I knew that they couldn’t turn their back on his offer, I also knew that his offer was not made without ulterior motives. He knew that his presence was going to bring a whole new level of complication to the two of them and for me that was distasteful…but deviously clever on the part of the authors.
So, with the hurdles that continue to mount, can Gabriel and Natasha navigate their new lives and find a happy ever after or will their misery continue?
Fantastically well written this is a book not to be missed.

Perfectly Flawed is book 2 in the Moments series by J & L Wells. It never fails to amaze the incredible talent these two authors have to draw you so completely into the story that you are right there, experiencing everything that the characters are. Their writing style flows seamlessly and has great character and world development without being overly descriptive. I loved the multi POV and getting to see into Gabriel's mind throughout the story. I think that it really pulled it all together and made the book so much better. I dare say better that book 1, Perfect Imperfections, which I knew they could do since it was an amazing read also. You really need to read book 1 first in order to get all the background information for the continuation of Natasha and Gabriel's story. It was very real, relatable and the emotional connection I had established with these characters from the first book has grown considerably . All of the ups and downs and emotional turmoil they must face to get where they need to be and learning how to navigate the obstacles together. Will Gabriel and Natasha find their happy ending? I hope so in book 3. I am anxiously awaiting it.

Standing ovation from me ✨✨✨😃😃😃✨✨✨✨😃😃✨
OMG. I'm clapping and giving my new favourite book a standing ovation. I loved, loved this book. It was truly fantastic and definitely delivered. Think of those movies that leave you flowering like you're on top of the world. This is the book version. Natasha is such a strong , down to earth and amazing character. I love her and her strength. She's a real person and you can identify with her and everything she goes through. I loved the love in this book and seriously I couldn't get enough. I'm following these authors and signing up to whatever mailing list there is because I never want to miss news of a new release or anything. I'm so happy right now. It's an absolute 5 stars for me ✨✨✨✨✨😃

I fell in love with Tash and Gabe in book 1, and more so in book 2. Perfectly Flawed was all about their relationship, and the ups and downs and many obstacles they faced. The writing is real and beautiful. It puts you there alongside the characters. Feeling what they felt. I even cried at one point. I definitely recommend this. Can't wait for book 3!

I was really lucky to receive an Advanced Copy of this story. While I thought that Perfect Imperfections (Moments Book 1) was great and there was no way that these ladies could top it, when I read Perfectly Flawed I was proven wrong!
In this one, Gabriel and Natasha (Tash) are building their life together and, thanks to Tash's sister Adrianna, are excitedly waiting for the birth of their twin girls to complete their family. But just when everything is going perfect, they encounter a problem that no one could have imagined. And it could cost two families everything.

The emotional rollercoaster that is Natasha and Gabriel's lives continues in book 2. This book gave me heart clenching moments. I loved how I got sucked back into their story.
The writing is great and the story flows well. We get both Gabriel and Natasha's POV's in this installment. I'm looking forward to the next part of their journey in book 3.

Having read book 1 Perfect Imperfections I couldn't wait to read Perfectly Flawed. I was not disappointed it's a well written story that follows on seamlessly from the first book. The story takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions that grip you till the last page. I can't wait for the next book.

Perfectly Flawed is the second book in the Moments Series by Judy and Laura Wells, a mother and daughter writing team. This book can be read as a stand alone because the authors cleverly add reminders amongst the new story, of what occurred of importance in the first one. That said, I found that I benefited from having read the first story because I feel as if I know the characters better, and can appreciate the continuation of their lives more.

Gabriel is an incredibly gifted artist and has been sought after to paint people's portraits, despite the fact that he was only partially sighted. Now that he has had corrective surgery he has perfect vision, but has lost the special something that made his paintings perfect. He tries not to focus on that because he's about to become a father to twins.

Natasha is his girlfriend, she met Gabriel when she had him paint her portrait. She's in remission from cancer and is unable to have children herself. Thankfully her sister, Adrianna, offered to be a surrogate mother, using frozen eggs from Natasha, and an anonymous donor from the sperm bank.

Their lives are perfect, and their excitement about the pending birth of the twins knows no bounds. Unfortunately, instead of the happiness the babies should bring to their lives, everything starts to go wrong. The babies are perfect and well, but Adrianna becomes a big thorn in the couple's side. The problem is, only Gabe can see what she is doing, Natasha can't. She just thinks Gabe is being paranoid, and isn't understanding at all. More often than not siding with her sister. Add to that Gabe's frustrations with his art, and the constant worry about Natasha's cancer coming back, and it's no surprise the situation is tense for him.

Can our couple get past all the obstacles that seem are coming at them since the babies were born, including the fact that Tash's ex boyfriend is on the scene in a big way? Will Natasha finally see what Adrianna is up to. Will she realise that while she has been focusing only on the babies that Gabe is dealing with a lot of issues?

What I love about the authors is how they can get you to run a gamut of emotions over each plot and over each character, never knowing what you should feel. If you aren't laughing, or feeling happy, you are tearing up, if you aren't doing that you are getting angry, or frustrated. I can't go into detail about all that is driving a wedge between our couple, spoilers and all, suffice to say, it's all very believable, and at no point did I feel like the ending would be a foregone conclusion. As for each person, take for example Adrianna, one minute you love her and think she is fabulous, the next you hate her, but then later you think she's not so bad, only to go on thinking that perhaps she is. I love it. Each character has flaws, are 'Perfectly Flawed' as it were, and whether they can overcome those flaws, or whether they revel in them makes this book an exciting, intriguing read. Once I started reading it I didn't want to put it down, the storyline kept me hooked from start to finish, and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

I voluntarily read an advanced readers' copy of this book.

I wasn't sure how Book 2 would work, since Gabriel and Tash were together, but I should have known that J&L Wells would produce an emotion filled story that would have me back and forth between happy, sad and angry until I was living the story along with Natasha.

At one point I so wanted to shake Gabriel and scream at him to fight instead of treating Natasha the way he did. His reasons seemed quite weak until towards the end of the book, when I not only forgave him but so very much wanted to hug him too. Natasha wasn't totally innocent and the pair of them could ignore an issue and not talk about it, or read too much into a situation that wasn't really there. And wow did these lead to one angst filled, hope filled, despair filled, love filled story.

It felt different to the first story as the relationship was already there. However it also felt very similar in that there is so much more to the book than just Tash and Gabriel's story. We only 'hear' their voices but Adrianna, Danielle, Josh, Josh's parents, Michelle and Darcy all play big roles in this book, along with a couple of other new characters.

The story is both complex and yet startlingly simple and it kept me gripped - I even got annoyed when my family tried to talk to me whilst I was reading it! Once I started the book I simply couldn't put it down until I had read it all. I loved it from start to finish - even when it made me sad and despairing. Part of me would have liked a few more chapters from Gabriel's POV but then another part of me wonders if the book would work so well if we did hear more from him.

I can't wait for Book 3 and will be one-clicking it as soon as it available to buy.

My rating: 3.25 out of 5 stars

**Please note, ARC was gifted via the authors in exchange for an honest review**

Perfectly Flawed is the second installment of the Moments series by J&L Wells. Book one landed a plot twist that I never saw coming and so I was anxious to pick things up with this installment. I would have liked to have had a bit of a recap, in the beginning, to refresh my memory. I felt a little bit lost at first but of course, it all came back to me eventually.

Unfortunately, it was a very slow start. I mean, it wasn't without 'drama' yet with all that was going on, it wasn't until Natasha's birthday that I really sat up and began to take notice. It picked up a good amount of speed and intrigue and dealt with real life situations, the sometimes ugly side of said situations, which was quite refreshing.

With that being said, there were a couple of things that brought my rating down. Chemistry. I couldn't find much chemistry between Natasha and Gabriel and so their story wasn't as 'powerful' to me, as I'm sure it's intended to be. I struggled with some of the wording. For me, yeah, sure, it's the technical term but the word 'penis' can and almost always will kill a sex scene for me. Also, there's a line where he grabs her 'round the neck in a 'headlock' and to me, my first thought was, oh... he's getting aggressive, violent. Gabriel attempting to be comforting didn't come to mind at all which again, cooled the scene way down. Also, while still on the subject of chemistry, I noticed I found myself liking each MC better when they were in scenes with other people. Gabriel and his brother especially. I would have liked some more back story on those two.

All in all, it was good read, just not one that I found myself gushing over. I think the biggest issue for me was that I would have done, literally EVERYTHING differently than Natasha did. Everything. And I'm just that type of reader. If I can't relate, it's hard to connect. While this wasn't my favorite from this talented duo, there's DEFINITELY an audience for all the soapy drama Perfectly Flawed provides.
