Bellis StCroix, Skin Walker Assassin, only comes out of the shadows when he’s called to duty. The reason? Because he is a shadow himself. Pitch black skin, silky ebony hair, and inky wells for eyes, Bellis’ looks have set him apart from his kind his entire life. Because he’s so different there will never be hope for an Angel in his future. Angels don’t exist in hell. But when his latest mission has him capturing a Megalya enemy, the petite female in his arms isn’t what he expected. Feisty, fierce, and sexy as sin, his little prisoner has his inner beasts snarling to protect her instead of locking her up.
Samantha Michaels is Megalya. Enemy to Skin Walkers, her brother has killed his fair share of the rare shifters. What her brother doesn’t know is that Sam is working with the Skin Walker Dominant to help bring the Megalya down. Everything is going according to plan until she’s captured by a Demon Walker, and this Demon, Bellis, doesn’t know of her duplicity. With a traitor still in the Skin Walker ranks, Sam can’t trust Bellis with the truth of her identity, which means she’s got to keep up her act. Problem is, the longer Bellis guards her, the less she wants him thinking she’s the enemy.
My pack territory is in Central Montana, between Stone Crow Estates and the North Fortress. Born and raised in an untamed location that bridges the gap between rolling prairies and majestic mountain peaks, I am born to a family that also bridges the gap between cultures. My father’s people boast a fiercely proud Scandinavian ancestry while my mother’s tribes descend from two savagely beautiful and unique nations (White Clay and Nakoda) that inspire my Skin Walker series.
I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, 30 Seconds to Mars, DMX, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and 21 Pilots (“…sometimes quiet is violent”). I also love to read because it encourages me to write. (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate. Really? Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?) Anyway, I love beer...kidding. I don't love beer but we are engaged in a very serious relationship. (Mom, please don't call me when you read this.)
Please leave feedback….well, only if it’s positive. “Keep in mind that I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my shit! (Erykah Badu lyrics!)

Bellis the man who looks like a demon and Sam the megalya girl. I liked Belllis but got tired of Sam pushing away Bellis.
As usual, Monroe plays his games at the expense of everyone else. Sam is captured by Bellis but can't seem to catch a break to see Monroe and tell him the intel she has been gathering from spying on the Megalya monsters. She has a long, very sad and cringy backstory that gradually is revealed as Sam and Bellis get to know each other. Bellis begins to suspect early on that Sam isn't really a 'bad guy', but it's gradual.
So I wanted to like this one more than I did. It's me though. I just found Sam hard to understand. I realize that she was supposed to be a product of her horrendous circumstances, but she never really seemed to rise to all that the author said she was. She's supposed to be a warrior but she gets her ass kicked quite easily over and over again. She's supposed to be good at hiding her emotions but she sheds more than a few tears throughout the story.
So overall this one was a wee bit disappointing. The epilogue was wonderful though.
Bellis was hard to rate because Bellis is probably the most interesting walker hero, and he had to overcome so much. On the other hand, Sam’s illogical self-loathing was hard to take, and Monroe hits an all time low and wins the prize for the most manipulative and callous jerk ever. Bellis and Sam together redeem the story. They are both so interesting and different from the other Skin Walker characters that I would like to see them featured prominently in some future stories.
This was an ok addition to the series. I enjoyed seeing the main story arc progress but I didn't really like the main characters. Bellis was okay. He's kinda mysterious, silent and distant. Sam I just didn't really like. I understood her motives and why she acted the way she did I just didn't like her much. Her attitude toward Bellis specifically was annoying. I got how difficult her life was but I still don't understand some things. Like when did Bellis become afflicted? I don't remember reading that. And since when do skin walkers drink the blood of their angel? I also didn't feel the love between the 2. They circle each other while verbally sparing and it just got old after a while. Then they jump on the table have quick, meaningless sex (never kissing until the very end of the book which bothered me) and go about their business as usual. It was just a miss for me.
I do enjoy the series overall but the last few books just haven't hit the mark for me. Depending on who the next book is about will decide me on whether or not I keep going with this series. I hope we get more of the keepers as I tend to like them pretty well. At the end of this book there was a page that said Bishop was coming soon and all I could think was it was about time. I do not enjoy the way the books have bounced around in releasing the characters stories out of order. I don't like to read series out of order and with this one there really isn't much choice.
This was a book I didn´t enjoy in the series, and generously gave it 2 stars just bc it´s part of the series I love. I get these two main characters are hard to deal with; both of them have a dreadful background behind that are almost impossible to overcome, but there are things I just don´t get. Like when she is sent back to the cell, all bruised and battered, and he grabbed her and shook her.... hello! Pain here! Where´s that "never hurt" SW´s policy? The first sex scene is so meaningless that was totally forgettable. Then all the GUILT.... gosh, I almost dropped the book! His guilt and regrets for this, and that, her guilt for that and that... dense and repetitive! But the worst was the claiming sex scene. One could expect that he´d "lavished and worshipped her body", just like all the other characters have done so far, right? Well, nope! It´s just a bam! clothes off, not even a bit of oral, get inside and then... he´s proud to be her first anal sex ever??? This one should have been the most caring, sweet and lovable sex scene in history after all the abuse she suffered and it´s exactly the opposite. And don´t get me started on the "I hate my black skin" issue... It´s like the whole book was written by sbdy else, or was roughly edited and destroyed. Should have just jumped to the next one. Sorry!

Bellis was sent by Monroe to hunt for the spy and bring it in.... little did he know the traitor was a woman. Bellis is different then the other walkers, he is the assassin sent out to finish the most difficult tasks. Sam was captured and tired to show no fear. She was a spy for the Magalya, join the group not cause she wanted to but because of her brother. She was not fully human like everyone believed, she is something else she will try and keep secret. This book was different from the others in this series, but it still had my attention all throughout and I could not put it down. This story was so good. The strength, and determination of the female character has me in awe.. this was a really good book, cant wait to start the
This book was artfully crafted and uniquely designed to pull you into the pages where secrets and fairytales live and dreams come true for those who believe!
This book was enchanting, enthralling and endlessly entertaining where stubbornness and determination to rise above conflict with a core of steel to get to where love and happiness lives! Bellis and Sam's story was extraordinary and moving in a way that will strip you of every emotion you have to bring you on the journey to true love that triumphs over everything and transcends through time and space to where happily ever after resides!
Sam is a female living with an evil group of paranormals called the Megalya. She looks human, but something about her screams "more than human" but definitely not Megalya. She acts and sounds evil, but then does something clearly unselfish and good. And she has just been caught by Bellis, an assassin for the good guys, the skinwalkers. The skinwalkers believe she is a traitor and set them up for attack. Everyone is turning on her. As I read the book I learned more about her life and felt deep sympathy for her. This was a highly emotional read. The book had great characters and a wonderful storyline.
I liked this volume and Sam too. There were few times I felt sorry for her and sometimes wanted to punch Bellis for being stupid. The way Susan created the main characters as two half of the same heart, a being with demon body and one with demon heart, is very interesting. I am happy that finally, Odium is dead but I have a feeling that something bad will happen soon. I recommend this story but not before reading the previous volumes.
Another good story in this series that I love. This story brought a whole new vision to the Skin Walkers. Shows Monroe to be even harder than I ever thought he could be. I will say that this heroine was one of my favorites ever. She had so much to work through to get her happy ending. But loved the outcome regardless of how it came about. Now I can't wait for Bishops story.
Re-reading this series and this book here proves why this series is so amazing. Bellis and Sam's story is so full of emotion. They are so alike in their emotions that it is a foregone conclusion they would get their HEA. Both of their young years, molded them to be the strong, determined, fighters that they are. Your heart will break, you will cry tears, and you will laugh with joy along with them both. A MUST READ! Well worth your time and $$
Yeah. Their world is violent but it is not by choice. They want to live in peace. It's a shame they cant. Sam is smart and stronger than anyone should have to be. Monroe is a jerk. Bellis is revered. He has lived his life mostly as a animal. He was made into assassin. Now he has a whole new mission. Happiness. Great book.
I loved this book. I have been hinge reading the Walker stories and this is my favorite. Two outsiders are lonely and misread but push to save the walkers from destuction. Sam is a victim who refuses to give up. She survives horrible trials while Bellis was abandoned by his mom very young and grew up alone and with no friends. They meet and click.
Each "Skin Walker" keeps you hooked on the series, wanting to read the next and reread the previous books. This one is full action, romance, mystery and the laugh out loud moments. Thanks for letting us into your world. Great books definitely a keeper.
It would be cool if spouses and even friends could switch colors back and forth to experience what others to through. Of course It would be totally cool if there were akin walkers and other shifters. Good book , worth buying and rereading. Enjoy.
The last chapter....anal in last chapter. Why? Story was otherwise decent and then "hero" takes away her choice again but I guess it's okay because he's gentle. Stopped reading.
Must say I love who they fight what the same how know will be there angel because the need the residence of the hole affliction party because they are so afraid of what it might be, can't wait to read more
While these are great stand alone books (thank you for that). The series itself is just fantastic. Light meets dark. I do wish we knew who the traitor was...guess we have to keep reading to find out.
I absolutely loved this book, the pain and abuse is heart breaking. But to have it finish with beautiful smiles and laughs, eased some of the heartbreak.
Love this series. Love this book Bellis has not had an easy life. As an assassin and an outsider he has become a bit of a loner, but when he runs into his enemy. He finds he cant keep his mind off her or his hands. He has much work to do and little time to save his race. Brilliant read.
Bellies is a skin walked ,assassins and close to his animal than human. But when he meets her he knows something is different. This book has lots of ups and downs -lies and truths marking this another exciting book in this series. Looking forward to the next book
