The National Geographic Society (NGS), headquartered in Washington, D.C., United States, is one of the largest nonprofit scientific and educational organizations in the world. Founded in 1888, its interests include geography, archaeology, and natural science, the promotion of environmental and historical conservation, and the study of world culture and history. The National Geographic Society's logo is a yellow portrait frame—rectangular in shape—which appears on the margins surrounding the front covers of its magazines and as its television channel logo. Through National Geographic Partners (a joint venture with The Walt Disney Company), the Society operates the magazine, TV channels, a website, worldwide events, and other media operations.
I am using more as a reference, but this is not as exciting as other Nat Geo titles. They have some fun trivia but don't break a lot of new ground here.
It was fun to browse through this beautiful book to get ideas about potential travel destinations in the US and Canada. Each state/province is represented by a two to four page spread that mentions travel highlights, accompanied by gorgeous Nat Geo photography. This book is more of a whet your appetite than informative resource.
This book is really good. It's exactly what I want in a travel guide: each state looks exciting, with interesting sight suggestions, and beautiful pictures! It really makes you want to take in each state, (and Canada!)
This book is fine if you are a first time traveler or are a kid looking for ideas to do a report on, but offers little insight for a seasoned traveler.
