Why did I take so long to resume reading this series?! I found myself becoming so engrossed in this story that I was so sad when I realized I reached the end. I’m still loving all of the characters and the plot is getting more interesting.

I am so attached to these characters and I'm loving me some Dario! He cracks me up and is so loyal to his friends. While I know Nina thinks she has feelings for Gilles, her and Roy have more sparks. I know, I know! He’s an asshole. However, there is just something about seeing them together that makes me happy.

Every Luga has a reason to hate humans. I hope that when Nina’s secret comes out that she will have earned their trust enough for them not to hate her. Also, this ended and left me with so many questions.

This series is SOOOOOO good!

Nina is absolute queen in this series and everyone knows it! I LOVE her compassion and her strong sense of justice, especially in light of the trials she is personally going through. I know the lugas often remind the reader how much they hate humans, but Nina really IS different. The things she has done to keep Poe safe or at least show him that someone genuinely cares for him testifies that she is *nothing* like the humans that lugas have met and known (aka the instructors)

GILLESSSSSSS!! He honestly is perfect shojo hero status! I really enjoyed the special moment that both Nina and Gilles have and still remaining hopeful that maybe this ship will sail by the end! Granted, Angelica needs to get out the picture because despite that we have barely seen any of her, I don't like these "threats" she "innocently" keeps making to keep Gilles in a way that seems trapped. She's being manipulative and she definitely knows it.

Ughhhhhh to Roy NOT being shojo hero status! I get that he is an alpha. I really really do, but I really disliked how he once again . I don't care if Nina didn't "fight back" because . What he did was wrong and I strongly second Dario in him saying that Roy is a scumbag. Speaking of...

DARIOOOOOO! I deeply continue to love his character so so so much! He really is a voice of wisdom in this series and have been 100% for it. I appreciate how he is honest about his feelings and how he truly does care for Nina, even though what a turn of events he helps creates in this volume! :o :o :o I never saw it coming!

Eva is bad news, even though I feel some heartbreak for her because I get her reasonings. I VERY much disliked her actions in the end, but I do genuinely get it.

Another excellent volume even if I'm still really irked at Roy's actions...

Putting the same review for the first three volumes since I read them back to back. I couldn't put this down. It's a typical paranormal romance manga and I loved it. The characters are just so incredible! Each one has a unique personality and amazing character growth in some way. It's just so adorable to watch these characters live their lives and build friendships and maybe romantic relationships.

This review originally appeared on my blog, Books Without Any Pictures:
http://bookswithoutanypictures.com/20...

In Volume 2 of Beasts of Abigaile, we get to see more of the side characters and to learn more about the history of Ruberia. The first book went into the human’s fairytale stories about the island. This one tells it from the luga perspective, and it’s pretty dark.

The volume starts out when Nina and Roy are being punished. They are forced to wait on the humans at one of their parties, and Nina sees her friend Poe being forced to cage fight against wolves to entertain them. Poe is a gentle soul and an artist, but he’s rejected by all of the luga. Nina’s the only one who shows him any kindness, and she’s horrified by what she sees. But standing up for Poe means risking her place in the luga hierarchy, and making herself vulnerable. It also means learning more about how the luga were enslaved, and about the hope that many of them still carry for a better world.

Meanwhile, the love triangle continues, with Roy as the aggressive macho-guy and Gilles as the more subtle type who helps Nina keep her secrets and fit into luga society. Both Roy and Gilles start to get some more character depth in this volume, and there’s more to both of them than their first impressions.

One thing that I really like in both of the books that I’ve read thus far is the worldbuilding. The author gives you just the right amount of information–enough to feel immersed in the world, but not so much that you get bogged down in the details. It feels very natural, and readers learn about things at about the same pace as the main character.

Volume 3 isn’t going to be released in the US until March, and I am impatient. I want to binge-read this series but it isn’t done being translated yet. Life is so unfair! XD

RAHHHH Nina is such a badass 🔥🔥🔥 I love how she always stands for what she believes is right even when everyone around her pushes for her acceptance of the norm. A big focus of this series is how radical her views (to them) on their situation is. Through her entrance into their world, we are able to see how rigid their views have become in captivity, and how the institution that has done this to them has done an amazing job at creating division and animosity amoungst the luga.

Now Roy...I can just tell by how these types of mangas go, that he is the likely romantic interest for Nina. Which....he has treated her horribly. He's the reason for her situation and doesn't even take responsibility for it, just saying she is "interesting" and an "enigma" and lurking over her from a distance. Which just makes the whole situation worse, because him being a weirdo watching her triggers his pack member Eva to go total offense on Nina in a jealous bitter rage. Not to mention he assaults her??? He pushes her to the ground and only stops from doing anything more because, and I quote, "its no fun when they don't fight back" I really can't figure him out.
But I don't really know how to think about him pushing her down, because Lugas are wolfs basically and have all this hierarchy that overlays their social interactions, so whether this is normal or not, I don't know. Because we also see Eva shove Roy down at some point. Obviously Nina, being born human, sees it as what we think, but Roy? I don't know. He even scolds her once he realizes her train of thought, saying her smell repluses him, but who knows what he says is true or not.

Nina is not that great at keeping her secret, because Eva finds it with little to no effort, which leads to Eva strategizing against Nina. Roy really has no control over his own pack looking at all Eva was able to get people to do...

Happy to get more info on Poe as well this Vol!!The backstory to why all the other Lugas dislike him was really eye opening, and made me understand the others actions more. Dario as usual was my favorite 💗💗

Honestly, I was on the fence about giving this three or four stars. In the end, I went with four because some of the characters (such as Dario and Nina) really shone in this volume, would got more backstory on what happened to the Lugas, and the artwork/art style was incredible. However, there are, again, two major reasons why I wanted to dock it down to three stars.

1. Roy is just as abusive, aggressive, and dickish in this volume as he was in the last volume, going so far as to tie Nina up and threatening to sexually assault her while forcibly kissing her. Again, HOW IS THIS MEANT TO BE ROMANTIC?! I'm probably going to harp on this the entire time, but I can't fucking stand how behavior like this is meant to be seen as "romantic" or "arousing". And again, I can't stress this enough, I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK WHAT HAPPENED IN HIS PAST, IT DOESN'T JUSTIFY HIS BEHAVIOR. This is easily the worst he's done so far, but he was pretty awful the rest of the manga and I'm still confused as to why he's the main love interest. Guess that's just me and my old fashioned ways, preferring nice men who treat women right over aggressive assholes.

2. Eva was an absolute bitch who is completely willing to let Nina die if it means Roy will look at her. That's her ENTIRE FUCKING CHARACTER, being jealous of the attention Roy's giving Nina and wanting Nina dead so Roy will pay attention to her. Now that I think about it, isn't that effectively a yandere, or is she not extreme enough for that title? Anyway, her character is terrible and apparently non-consensual kissing is a thing because when Roy gets back from something she straddles him and proceeds to lick and kiss him without asking. I guess because their Lugas that's normal, but it still irks me. She's an obnoxious, angry bitch and I can't stand her.

Don't let the negatives get in the way of continuing the series because this really is a good series. The romance isn't strong, but the characters (excluding Roy and Eva) are awesome, the art is lovely, and the humor is pretty good. I still recommend this series despite my gripes.

It's official; I NEED to finish this series! I think I enjoyed this one more than the previous because of its overlapping genres and character development. We have the infatuation of Giles/Nina (which to me, wasn't really all that compelling. He's more of a father figure, what with sheltering her from the fight, taking her under his wing, and literally licking her wounds) and the budding romance (fingers crossed) of Roy/Nina (Maybe I'm just a sucker for dark, brooding with a capital "B" heroes, but they had so much heat between them, you could kindle a fire), as well as humankind acting less than humane towards Lugas; I appreciate when a genre generated towards girls delves into darkness. I mean, this can be read for Marxist criticism. I loved that Nina isn't black and white with her affection for Roy, nor is she afraid of him; she calls him out on his cowardice, but claims he's a great Alpha (his face in that moment was priceless). It's also worth noting that she doesn't bring up the fact that he made her Luga. Nina's not really bemoaning her life; she's fighting back, seeking justice, and taking names all without losing her human side. The revelation of why Poe is called "omega" breaks the heart (turns out, it's his fault they were captured as children from Ruberia, and this is the Luga's way of venting their aggression towards him). I do hope more focus is given to Roy and Nina (Giles is way too vanilla and I at least need some butter pecan!) They challenge each other to be better Alphas and people. Also, I'm sure I'm not alone in this, but Roy feels some budding love/compassion for Nina, seeing as he keeps her perfume a secret, and punishes his pack when they attack her. Gushing much? You know it.

I love how fast this is moving and it still feels like a full story. Although I feel like the timeline doesn't really add up, but I'm not too concerned about it making sense. I'm here for the shenanigans.

Eva is getting on my nervessss. I also hate that her main motivation of trying to sabotage Nina is because she hates that Nina has Roy's attention. Like it would've been better if she was more concerned over the fact that Nina is a human, but she's not. Also Eva needs to leave Poe aloneee. How dare she use him. He's an angel, who I definitely thought was like 12, but turns out he's 17. Lol he's so smol.

Side note: I really like the way the eyes are drawn. There's so many different versions and they're all so detailed and pretty.

I finally got to find more volumes of the book and so the 2nd volume was just a continue of the 1st volume. It’s still introducing some of what the story is and how things have happened to the Luga’s homes which were taken over by humans. Though now a girl wants to ruin Nina because she’s a human and not one of them but no one knows that. I love this book and give it a 5 star, I’m looking forward to read the next volume and maybe the whole series if I can. I recommend this book for people who love manga and like series that involve wolf packs, alphas, omegas, etc.

I read this too fast ahh. I want more of this manga it keeps getting super good!! Grrrr that roy he upsets me. I wonder what is aim is. I was glad we got to see more about what happened in the past. I do wonder what happened that caused poe to lose his eye. I am still curious about why shes human and what her family is doing. It feels like they fell off the earth. I absolutely love this series and the art so much. I really want more from this author.

Volume Review: 5/5
Full stars for artwork, for sure!! Also the storyline is quite interesting. There was a lot to do with Poe in this one, which was a bit sad, but also heartwarming and I hope things get better. Also I really love Gilles even though the main love interest is supposed to be Roy, I think. I dunno, I'm just not that into vicious guys and Gilles is really sweet. Anyway, I read this one in a hurry because I wanted to start on Volume 3 ...

A big improvement on the first volume! With the introductions out of the way, we get to learn more about the characters, especially Poe. The characters are engaging and likable and the setting is fascinating. Aoki's art is gorgeous, truly some of the best I've seen in a comic. My only issue continues to be how Dario and company are a bad collection of Japanese queer stereotypes that confuses whether they're trans girls or gay crossdressers.

I liked this manga a little less than the last one. I felt the cover was misleading (I thought I was going to see Nina and Gilles's relationship grow more). I appreciate and really enjoy the gradual building in the character relationships, which is important to any story. This story really intrigues me and I can't wait to read the third.

Does anyone know how more there will be?

Our weakest characters are going to risk their lives in a secret Lugo fight club run by the wardens. Do you want to see their fight for survival? Well, this is for girls so we're going to cut straight to the aftermath so we'll have lots of pages to show Roy's rapey attempts to seduce Nina. Twice. *Swoon!*

Poe has proven to be a very interesting character and his past has made him a tragic one as well. I am hoping Nina will start using her head more instead of jumping into problems, though her heart is in the right place.

The story continues to unfold seamlessly but I have to say I enjoyed this less than the first volume . Or I just may not be a shoujo manga fan in general. It’s heartwarming n cute tho and I love the bond between Poe and Nina and the inclusion of the lgbtqia supporting cast .
