I did like Storm who was brave, handsome and caring for those he loved. He hadn’t had a good example set for him by his father and his prejudices. Lady Wren was a strong woman given all that had happened to her but I couldn’t connect with how she treated her son. There are a number of connections between the characters that are revealed as the story progresses. There are a number of interesting secondary characters and a good amount of action. This was an enjoyable read.

Lady Renegade is the second book in the Legacy of the Blade series by Elizabeth Rose. I've not read the first book in the series so can happily say that this book can be read as a standalone if you so wish.

I had the bonus of listening to this book rather than just reading it. The narration wasn't perfect, but pretty darn close to it. I enjoyed the vast array of voices that he easily portrayed, he definitely brought the characters and the story to life. The story itself was superb and for the first time, thankfully it's a weekend, I had to listen to the whole book in just one sitting. I tried to turn it off to get some sleep, but I couldn't, not until I knew how it would end. So now I am exhausted but want to write my review while the story is fresh in my mind. After that, I think I may just collapse on my bed for the rest of the day lol!

Wren is a blind woman who doesn't let her blindness stop her getting her revenge on the English after she was blinded by one of them during a fight between them and the Scottish 9 years ago. She, herself, is English but her loyalties lay with the Scots.

Storm MacKeefe has been paid to find and bring back the leader of a gang of Renegades who are causing a lot of trouble for the English. Unknown to him, those renegades are all women, and they are led by none other than Wren. He also is none the wiser that there is another reason behind his employer wanting Wren brought to him.

There are so many twists and turns to this story, I don't want to forewarn you about any of the plot other than what I have said. I want you to have the surprises that I did. What I can say is that the love interest is between Wren and Storm but it definitely isn't smooth sailing. Wren is a strong woman and Storm is quite the macho Scot and it's inevitable that there are going to be clashes between them. Both of them have baggage when it comes to their families and/or lack of them. Both of them are wary of love.

Far from just focusing on the romantic aspect of the couple, there is so much more to discover about both of them. There are other fabulous characters in the story too, an old gypsy fortune teller, a cheeky French man, a couple of evil characters that you just want to punch, and there's even a menagerie of fabulous animals including a dog, an owl and a fox! Between them all, they make up a very exciting, emotional, intriguing story which I can't recommend highly enough.

This was quite an intriguing story. Wren, even though blind, leads a group of women in battle. She captures Storm instead of the other way around. Obviously there are sparks between them. Loved it.

Awesome read. Wren and her infant son are being taken to King David with the intention of giving the king his bastard son for a reward. She and her English entourage come upon a small cottage and plan to kill its inhabitants so they will have a place to stay for the night. There is a older woman and newborn boy inside the cottage, but hiding and preparing to attack is Chieftain Ian McKeefe and his son Storm McKeefe, along with numerous other Scottish warriors. During the melee, Storm instructs his loyal deerhound to kill the Englishman who is holding the older woman hostage, but the dog accidentally kills the woman. Meanwhile, the English have set fire to the cottage, trapping her infant inside. During the grey, Wren is knocked to the ground and hits her head, causing her baby to fly from her arms. When she comes to, she cries out for her baby, and her Zara, her old gypsy companion, brings the babe to her. Wren is able to escape the battle, her English handlers, but brings many of Her precious animal friends with her. Unfortunately, the blow to her head causes her to lose her sight.

Ten years have passed, and now there is a reward for the capture of an outlaw band called the Renegades. Storm has been disowned by his own father, and he travels the countryside competing for rewards. He is determined to capture the elusive Renegade in order to fatten his sporran. Unfortunately, the band of Renegades captures him first.

There are many secrets that will be revealed throughout the book, along with heartbreak, passion, and love.

Lady Renegade is a captivating and unpredictable story set in medieval England and Scotland. It is packed with action, danger, twists, turns, and lots of surprising discoveries, not the least of which is a band of female renegades led by the blind Wren. There is romance, but it builds slowly. Uncertainties and pains from the past make believing that love is possible difficult for both Wren and Storm. The unforgettable, complex characters draw you into the story. The action and tension as the story unfolds make it a page-turner. Excellent narration by Kevin E. Green, as always, helps to bring the story to life. I enjoyed this story and recommend that you join the Mackeefes, MacDougalls, and the Lady Renegades to storm the castle.

The book was a gift, the story great, and my review voluntary.

Storm MacKeefe- after his father disowned him he went out to win money by different bet and other antics.
Wren- has a son by king David, went blind when Lord Bainbridge hit her aside the head. She led a group of women to steal from the English.
I enjoyed reading/listing to this intriguing and unpredictable story set in medieval Scotland and England with complex and many unforgettable characters including , an old gypsy fortune teller (Zara), a cheeky French man, a couple of evil characters that you
love to hate, and bunch of helpful animals. This story is packed with action, danger, excitement, humor, twists, turns, and some surprising discoveries.

Narrated by Kevin E Green who did a fabulous job in telling the story by the vast array of voices that he easily portrayed, He definitely brought the characters and the story to life.

Lady Renegade

Wren being blind from a hit to her face delivered by Bainbridge became Lady Renegade leading all women to steal and give to the needy. Her pet owl helped her to see shadows. She also raised her son for nine years. Wren didn’t know her parents. She was found at the age of three and raised by foster parents. Storm and his friend were looking for Wren to get a reward. Soon Wren and Storm fell in love. Wren learned that her baby died when Bainbridge hit her and she was given another child as at the same time the mother had died. She also learned Storm was the true father of the child. Storm and Wren had some wars to get through to end up together and finding each of their families.

Reading This Love Story Was Exhilarating And Tense
A terrific story starts out pretty rough for Storm the highlander along with an English lass named Wren.
Both were so confused and both had emotionally damaged souls.
There is so much going on in this story that it is hard to clearly tell you except it is just an power house of a read from the start to the end.
Fascinating characters, wonderful love story, fun and wonderful animals, laugh out loud humor and strong magnetism between our H and h.
Sensual love scene made me feel young again.
Many shocking moments and confessions that had me gasping at times.
I highly recommend this series. I have read books 1 and 2 which I gave 5 stars to each and I'm looking forward to the next book Lord Of Illusion

****AUDIO****

Elizabeth Rose has done it again, with a lively cast of characters... Strong (and hard-headed) Storm, the Devilishly suave Trippet, fortune-telling Zara, young and bright Renaud, the brave women renegades, and Wren, the blind leader of the renegades. I really wanted to like Wren, but she made me so mad with her choices and oftentimes selfish decisions. Storm had a lot to learn, but I think he finally got there in the end! This is part of a series, but it is written well, so can be easily understood as a stand alone. I much preferred Kevin's performance in this reading, as his Scot's burr was more enjoyable, but I still have a hard time with his voicing of women & children.. As always, please use headphones for the bedroom scenes if children are present 😉

Wren Is traveling from England to Scotland with her infant son, so the King can meet his son.
Along the way, they are ambushed by the clan MacKeefe.
Storm MacKeefe does not like unnecessary blood shed. He wants peace between the clans and also with the English.
While trying to escape, Wren gets struck by one of her own and hits her head and looses her sight.
Using her other senses, along with her pet owl, she becomes the Lady Renegade. She is the leader of a small group of women warriors who goes up against the English.
Storm is hired to capture the mystery leader, but gets captured instead.

Hidden Relationships - Lost brother, mother and son.
Lady Wren has a hard life, lost in a forest aged three, taken forcefully by the Scottish King as a young girl and then blinded by her foster father’s captain of the guard. However her will to survive eventually leads to her being the leader of a group of warrior women. Hunted by the authorities and in constant danger, as long as Wren has her faithful pets she is fearless but apart from them the story is quite different. Storm MacKeefe is tricked into agreeing to capture the Renegades leader, not realising that she is a woman nor that he has met her before and that his past is entwined with hers. Highly recommended.

Great plot ruined by porn

Loved the story, just not the way it was written. I understand the guy was handsome..aren't they always?! The twist in the plot toward end was really good.. unforgettable characters. The author did really well till she threw in the sex scenes. I could handle the lust & bare butt throughout out the book..believe me there was enough but author didn't go overboard with those scenes. But pornography in my opinion is too far. Noone under 21 should read it. Hopefully this author will write some clean books if enough reviewers point out the porn. I'll definitely read her books if she does.

I had to skim through a lot of their thoughts. Wren and Storm were forever going over their feelings in their minds.
The story moves right along drawing me in to find out each new mystery. Who is Wren's family? When will she listen to Zara and face the truth about her baby? What will happen to the group of women that call themselves The Renegades?
Wren is blind and leads the Renegade fighters.
Who else lives down the hidden tunnel attached to Wren's dirt home?
The questions are continous and I was skimming the ordinary parts to get to the answers.
The animals are very much loved and relied upon during this story. I loved Wren's ability to communicate with animals. Her pet owl was an excellent bonus to the story. I think that all the animals were the best part. Maybe not the rats in the dungeon though.

Fast read but it bugged me. I rolled my eyes a lot. I didn’t like how sex was so forced and really i felt like the Scott’s were all animals with little respect for women. The main female character was blind and the male character was big and brawny with little respect for women but wanted to respect Wren. There were clan wars, deer dogs that must be huge, lots of characters that don’t know who their parents were, telepathic animal communication, a Gypsy that tells fortune and a hermit. Kinda crazy

This is a wonderful historical romance. They were truly destined to become lovers. Their lives totally dependent on each other, as they complimented, and two became one. Of course evil needs to be conquered. Old ghosts need to be dealt with, and new ways learned. But true love will not die easily nor will it fade away. Her courage and his strength will help them find the way and thus a very good story is told. Thank you, Jack.

I love the Scots and the history of the Scots as a people. Romance combined with mystery and battles make a wonderful combination! Lady Renegade leads a group of women warriors in the battle of English vs the Scots and in the process falls in love with a Highlander outcast. Its the story of clans and magic. A beautiful love story and the fears that go with falling in love! Enjoy this Good Read!

Good plot, describes more than shows characters

The plot and characters are interesting, and the medieval world is well depicted. The romantic tension is believable but continues too long for my taste. The focus on the main characters jumps around between very in the moment to descriptions that seem too distant, interrupting my invovement in the story with awareness of the author's point of view.

I listened to the audiobook of this book. Great narration and non stop action. Lady Renegade or Lady Wren has been searching for her family. Storm MacKeefe is a wild Scotsman looking for her. Little does he know, she is the same woman that has haunted him for 9 years. Wren has been blind since that same night. English and Scots are fighting again and Storm and Lady Renegade are right in the middle of it. Will their fighting come between them.

Friend, foe or lover?

A wonderful novel about a female English renegade with a band of women and a Highlander who attends tourneys to make a living. Their adventures together are filled with deception, betrayal and intrigue. Read this novel to see if they overcome all to find true love.

I just cant. So many of these books trying to pretend women of the era could live as men--or at least modern women--that it's not even entertaining anymore. I think the premise she could do so BLIND pushed it over the edge for me. Macho, independent women, villain-y villains, and understanding heroes . Nothing new to see here. Moving along.

Found wandering in the woods at the age of three, Wren doesn't remember who her family is and her remaining family believes she is dead. After a somewhat tragic series of events in her teens and early twenties, she meets Storm MacKeefe (again) and her life begins to fall into place. This was an enjoyable story focused around a strong heroine.

I missed reading the 1st book in series but it doesn’t seem like it caused issues. This book flows nicely and kept my attention. There were some plot twists that were easy to figure out, however, the story line moved well. The two main characters were likable. I will definitely check out the first book.

Amazing Adventure

This is an action filled adventurous story of how a blind super heroine, fought her way through adversities and found love in the process. It was a bit predictable, unless I am getting better at predicting storylines, but enjoyable. I was a bit loss at times from all the Scottish speak, with some French sprinkled in, but all in all it was good.
