Barred from meaningful participation in society because of her magical ability, her race, and her gender, Lawrence Kincade walked away from the resistance once.
This time, she's in for good.
The Party has the man she loves, and she won't stop until he--and everyone else--is free of their tyranny.
And she'll use every magical tool at her disposal to do it.
The first book was pretty good until the ending which I didn't like the mind control twist at the end but Overall I wanted to see what happened and how Lawrence could lead the resistance and overthrow the corrupt party of the pure. However Lawrence becomes abandoned by a world who doesn't want her to fight back and even the witches are good with what is going on. The story is very messy at this point.
I don't understand what the author is trying to do here. The story starts becoming really messy to the point where I cannot suspend my disbelief on the stupid plans that the heroes have to save the world
I give up on trying to understand the direction this story is taking where no ones motivations and the world building doesn't make sense.
Spoilers-
The heroine leader of the resistance turns herself in to spy on the mayor to obtain blackmail information on the party. Why didn't she just take out the major or organize the resistance to fight back-because no one wants her too and they don't think they can win.
Her enemies include the shifters, the party, the pure, the witches, and even before her love was ordered to kill her kept betraying her for no reason.
The only reason the party of the pure is in power is because the witches are helping them---really and not just one or two powerful evil witches.
Her so called best friend Aubrey who in the previous book turned in the entire underground because they weren't going to win.
They should've been working together to overthrow the party, but instead they were doing the party's work for them by trying to kill each other
Who’s to say who is is better or more powerful and who can you trust. I love the characters in these books and how every man needs a good woman or is it witch behind him. Now I need the next book
