Everytime Finn says "If you live, then I breathe" I swear to you my heart drops out and I just turn into a giddy teenager. That is why this book broke my heart into pieces. I didn't expect Finn to get the girl, but I am glad she admitted how she felt. I don't want to spoil anything so I can't tell you where the heartache comes in, but it was so remarkably sad. The author does an excellent job of facilitating the need for the outcome of this part of the story though, and while it hurt it made perfect sense for the sake of the resolution.

By the end, I too had come to love Von (and all those beautiful brothers), October, Ollie, Danny, etc. It's one hell of journey through the land of Terraway that is filled with constant struggle, but it pays off in the end.

I feel sure this book will become another that I read whenever I'm in need of escaping to another world where there's constant adventure and of course love (and perfect phrases that no boy will ever really say, but it's just so fun to pretend).

One thing I can say about this series with absolute confidence is its an escape. It's easy to get wrapped up in this world and these people, and to just imagine yourself in that life for a while. There's just something about a series that can transport you to the point you worry about these characters once they are gone.

(1/2) Utter disappointment. How the mighty fall so hard, it shocks me. I debated giving this book 1/5 stars while I was reading but I love Twomey’s mind and the world of Terraway to much to disrespect it like that. I’d given the first 5 books 5/5, the next 2 4/5 and finally this one was the worst one. But despite what I say in my rant below, finish the book, it’s good. If you don’t wanna read this entire rant below, (I intended it to be shorter but my Rage has fingers of its own) then skip to the last paragraph and then read my next review.

There are so many things wrong with the series that I’d brushed off, but this book was the last straw. First off, October is a cruel cruel person, I love the girl but wow she definitely is a terrible person sometimes. She baffles me on how she can be nice to people who are cruel to her then when someone (Finn) is nice to her, she treats him terribly. She really knows how to pick em. It bursts that I related so much to her in the beginning but after being blatantly assaulted by her so called protectors, she just blames herself and that’s where I draw the line. Anyway enough of her, let’s start with Mason. Mason, is a sexual assault case that got off not only scotch free, got redeemed, (which in the end only makes me madder because Finn got no such curtesy and he did NOTHING WRONG THE ENTIRE BOOK!). Next let’s start with Von. Oh how I hate Von, at least with Mason I was able to move past it because October moved passed it. Von is an asshole plain and simple and there is nothing to be argued about it, he left her, DESTROYED her safe place (bedroom) and in a way cheated on her (tho not really). What really gets me going is how October had a MAN that DIDNT CARE whose baby daddy it was, he was willing to raise her. And then Von runs away and fucks her asshole friend while she’s pregnant. Not only is Von a ticking time bomb, he assaulted her (quite often in fact) and mauls her after every paper cut. Now it’s not his fault that he’s a half vampire but it shocks me to my core that October would let someone who would kill her surrogate child and future children if they so much as scrapes their knee, which is a problem that was never resolved.

Even if Finn wasn’t the perfect option, which I never even addressed the issue of her leading him on and cheating on Von (as much as I despise cheating, it helped that it was Von), why would you get with Von. He’s respectable as a friend because he is kinda funny but worthless as a lover. Finn WAS PERFECT! October constantly chose the trash guy over a good guy and just ughsgahav. In a way it seemed to be promoting domestic abuse which made my inner feminist rant, even though I know that’s not the message. Anyway enough of Von, I almost stopped reading after the scene with Finn, Sandy, and Philip/Sama (you know the one) but I preserved through the rest of the terrible ending and as to why the ending was terrible, read on in my next (much shorter) review.

This was a DNF for me from the beginning when I read a review stating it wasn’t reverse harem like it says on amazon in the title. It literally has said on every book in the title that it’s a REVERSE HAREM Adventure. It’s not. All the guys the author makes you think she ends up with she doesn’t. It’s a one guy ending. Not to mention she kills off my favorite guy, the one who loved her unconditionally through everything and made himself a better person. Reading to her and taking care of her like no other. Instead of being with him and making and the other guy she liked, he just gets killed off. When I read that review I was done.

The poor girl has had a horrendous life, like the worst. And she can’t even get all the love. The girl just can’t get a break and I can’t take anymore. I absolutely lived the series when I thought it was RH even with the crap she went through cause I figured it was going to hit her how much she loved all these guys and finally get a happy ending and tons of love. 🤦🏼‍♀️😡🤬

I hate what happened in this book (spoilers)

I am absolutely devastated by the events in this book. See this series is touted as a reverse harem, yet there’s been nothing harem like about it. Not only that but it is also a “Vampire Romance” and not once in the series have I truly felt the love that October and Von are supposedly supposed to have.

Even Mason and October had more love in their relationship before he went all crazy, than I felt with Von and October. Von kept leaving October, stringing her along, and yet she kept going back to him, kept saying yes....kept pushing Finn away.

Finn is a major character I absolutely love, so for him for freaking DIE in this book utterly killed me. He did NOT deserve to go down like that. He was the ONLY man in October’s life who showed more care for her wellbeing than ANY of them. He SHOWED his love, and his repayment for his love is to die! Just like that? And Von and October are to go on so easy?

Why is this series such a downer? For real, it’s been death after death after death. I’m not satisfied. I need to know how this thing ends though to truly know how I feel, but if this situation with Finn being dead is never rectified I doubt I can ever raise my view on the series. It would totally wipe out any good in the series.

Finn was a great character and I don’t feel this love that Von supposedly has. So I’m not happy at all.

Notes:

Hm. I love the characters. I enjoyed the way plot points were drawn together. It makes sense within this nutty world. In fact, I would say this is one of my fav series to read this year but it's not due to a particular book within the series.

The main arc was completed in this volume. I'm off to see what the extra book will dish out. =)

Seriosuly???? She ends up with Von and Finn dies?! I can't even fucken handle it. I was seriously forcing myself to finish this series while reading book 7, because that's when I feel everything started going downhill for me.

Von is an asshole and always will be, I dont understand how she continuously says she doesn't deserve a guy like him. I'm completely baffled. This guys ran off on her when she was pregnant, cheated on her multiple times and then would purposefully hurt her feelings whenever he was "confused" about his own feelings. I mean, wtf?? He's the one that doesn't deserve her. And I feel like after all she's gone thru in her life, both before Terraway and after, she'd learn to love herself and know her worth. I was clearly wrong though.

She really should've ended up with Finn because he was the only one that loved her unconditionally. She was crazy and unstable but he didn't care. He loved her without any magical connection forcing them together. He changed for her and became a better person for himself and her. Even when he knew she was pregnant by another man he never once hesitated to make her his priority and love her the way she needed to be. So when Finn dies and he doesn't even make it to the cottage in that kissing dreamland I was even more pissed. He deserved better and he especially deserved a better ending.

Anyways, finally after forcing myself to finish the 8th book i find out that there's a ninth one. So now I'm forcing myself to start on that one. I figure since I've read 8 full books, I can trudge through the 9th one.... right?

Side note: I rated it a 2 instead of 1 because I absolutely love the Terraway world and that's the only redeemable quality of the series. The love part and supposed 'reverse harem' aspects of the book were complete crap.

Very well written but too dark, bitter, and heartbreaking with too little hope. Slight spoiler alert: I got through to page 170 or 59% and could barely finish it. While it is well written, and the world and characters are developed enough that a reader can identify and invest in them, there is TOO MUCH darkness, and no real hope in the story, and the main character, October, is often just too naive to be believable. After all the heartbreak in the series, all the torture, death, loss, and struggle, I was fairly disheartened, but started this book in good faith. However, I could see it coming for way too long, the author's intent to kill off one of the better characters to provide yet MORE pain, suffering, and hopelessness.

I verified that Finn does indeed die through other reviews, and have just lost interest in trying to continue with a story line that is so utterly hopeless, and buy into a heroine who gets so many others killed through her naivete. Von is far too flaky to be truly worthy, Mason is better but still shy of the mark. Finn really was the best of them all, the one who really loved and PROVED he was worthy of her; she could count on him. So my interest has waned with his loss to the story.

When I started with the first book, some of the plot devices (the heroine staying in the house after overhearing how her dinner companions were planning on breaking her arm and/or other abuse), very nearly convinced me not to continue with the series, but I came to love the character the author is killing off in this book, so warning, if you need hope in your stories, this isn't the book for you. I was surprised to hear Twomey hadn't intended to write another book after this one because I did not see this story as an HEA, in fact it just left me sad.

“October Grace?” His voice was deep, stirring something in my chest I hadn’t known I needed in order to be able to suck in a complete breath. I had been suffocating for far too long without that sound that rang in my bones like truth. The vines and webs that had been tangled around my heart began to loosen, giving up their death grip on the organ that had never been allowed to beat in the same rhythm as the rest of the world. “Do you know who I am?”

Now we reach the end of the series with Book 8 “Trap” of the Terraway series and author Mary E. Twomey does not disappoint! The tone of this book was a real roller-coaster-ride of thrills, chills, highs, and lows. I had to wait a few days after I finished it before I could come up for air and write a coherent review.

I have lived with Lady October Grace and her friends and family, traveled on this journey of discovery, cried, laughed, and loved with ALL of the well-written characters. I have never in my 58 years of living as a voracious reader, been SO INVESTED in how each character ended up in this series! I am so desolate this series is over, but take heart that Ms. Twomey has written other books that I can discover. Once again, I will not reveal ANY spoilers, Dearest Reader as I wish for you to relish the ending to a monumental journey of Lady October Grace.

I gave this book five (5) stars as I WILL ALWAYS REMAIN a Beautiful Believer in this series and I passionately advise you, Dear Reader to Please add this ENTIRE SERIES to your library. I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher and I have voluntarily reviewed it.

DNF at 16%

The Terraway Series is labeled as a RH romance, meaning—since the very first book—I expected that October would end up with more than one character.

For the seven books prior to this one, I watched as October grew amazing friendships that I assumed would bloom into relationships. Yes, guys and girls can be just friends, but you can’t tell me that all of the amazing chemistry between October and multiple male characters was strictly ‘platonic’ .

I was duped. I thought Mason was a great love interest, until his potential was quickly and definitively ruined. Lang seemed like a possibility in the first couple of books, but they ended up not amounting to anything more than friends. Finn was given a great character arc that led to him growing a beautiful bond with October. SPOILER I was looking forward to their HEA, but—after reading reviews—it’s apparent that this beautiful relationship is diminished to a tool who’s purpose is to emotionally manipulate readers with the death of a beloved character. END SPOILER Moving on, Judge’s character hinted at covering the ex-childhood-friends-to-lovers trope. I’m not actually sure what the purpose of their relationship is since it’s not that. Let’s not forget about Von. I thought that their relationship developed well as a slow burn. But I wasn’t expecting Von to be October’s only lover. The only way that their relationship works for me, is if Von isn’t the only male lover in October’s life.

I have loved the series up to this point. The characters are well developed, and impossible not to grow attached to. The plot is interesting, and is not a drag to read. The writing is very professional which always improves the quality of a story. But it’s not a Reverse Harem. And parts of the previous books fall flat and don’t seem as relevant now that I know that they don’t lead to a HEA between October and multiple love interests that I was led to expect. The simple inaccurate categorizing of a relationship trope has led to my disappointment of a story that I originally loved.

I so enjoyed this series. It was such an emotional ride. After the last book and all its surprises, I had no idea what to expect from the final book in the series.

It offers plenty of the surprises you have learned to expect. There are definitely some tears too but hope for the future as well. Many authors wouldn't take the risks she did but they did provide you with an experience you won't forget.

I highly recommend you read the whole series. It really offers an amazing experience with adventure, action and romance. October is a woman that goes on a journey that challenges everything she ever knew and is surrounded by a group of family and friends that provide love and support and also humor too as she learns that she is much stronger than she ever expected.

I do wish got some more stories and maybe an epilogue so we could get some time with some of the other characters and see how their relationships work out.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

October Grace may you live happily with Von in both the real world and Terraway.

I can not give this series enough thumbs up. With the exception of book 5 which left me feeling blah, the entire series swept me off my feet.

October is funny, nerdy, brave and selfless during some truly harrowing experiences. Her occasional breakdowns can be expected. The way Von works his own issues and comes through for October at exactly the right time = perfect, even though he is not perfect i believe in the ending of this series. I believe October and Von can now settle down, get to know each other in peace.

There is not a supporting character in this series who wastes space.
I was surprised by some of the twists in 'Trap' even after the previous 7 books had us changing direction at the drop of a hat.

Well done on bring us wonderfully inventive world of Terraway.

Slightly lost now without reading about Von.

"If you live, then I breathe"

First, let me say, I really love this series but the life of October Grace is that of torture. I can't think of a better way to put it. It's a classic example of bad, terrible, awful things happening to the least deserving person.
Thankfully she has a support system of amazing friends and family that help hold her together. With every page I wonder how much more can she take. -How much more I can take!-
Mary sucks you in with her fantastic story telling and extremely likeable characters. Terraway takes you to a world unlike any other and leaves you broken and fulfilled at the same time. Such a heartbreaking and fantastic series. I'm sad to have it end and am still shocked, surprised, in awe. Overall I'm still reeling after the conclusion of the way everything had to end.

I received a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This final installment of the Terraway series was wonderfully written. It kept me on my toes and I couldn't put it down until the last page was turned. Mary Twomey is supremely talented at capturing the reader's attention with wonderful characters, a brilliant plot-line, suspenseful twists and turns, and fantastic endings. I fell in love with every person she introduced throughout the series and couldn't wait to see how their lives turned out. I was completely Team Finn, but the resolution with his relationship with October was perfectly handled, if not sorrowfully. I absolutely loved everything she went through with Von, as well as the final result. Way to go Mary, for making me fall desperately in love with those three men, Finn, Von, and Mason.

I loveeeee this series so much! I was team Von from the day she met him when she was awakened, but my friend was team Finn so imagine the happy dance I did when she married Von :). He would have been proud lol. Even though I definitely did not expect Finn to die, I am still happy she ended up with Von :). This was so much better than Twilight when it comes to the guys and picking teams lol. I loved the whole series, I just wish that Ally would have only had the two reapers instead of November having to share her boys too. Unless there are books coming that are going to be told in Ally's point of view... :)

I couldn't get enough of this series!!! Just finished binge reading all 9.

The story was so captivating and the characters were people you honestly felt connected to. It's not often that you really get sucked in the world an author creates like I did for Terraway.

I think my favorite thing about the whole series is that you never know what is going to come around the corner. Surprises left and right. You think you know which way the story is headed and it veers off.

I'm going to miss girl October and all the men. 🥰

Emotional rollercoaster

I read the series straight though. I finished a couple of days ago and was so emotional I couldn't get a grip on everything. Trying to wait and see how things settled with me but I'm pretty much still a wreck. The story drags you in and is so......I can't even find words. If you want to read a series that is edge of your seat, while you're yelling at the characters, this is it.

I Binged the Whole Series

I bought the first book in this series on sale. Once I read it, I immediately splurged on the rest of the series. I am so glad I did. I ended up binging the rest of the books. These books made me laugh and cry. They made me care. That doesn't always happen, even with good books. After finishing the series, I want to know what happens next. I hope there is a spinoff!!!

Wow so much happens in these I never know what to say at the end! I think the best I've got that out of all the deaths that have happened Finns hit me the hardest. That was gut wrenching for me. The nicu thing was hard September dying and mariang were hard but the finn thing really cut me deep. That poor man. I've been team von since the jump but that part was hard for me. Also hurry a wedding finally! I guess on to the last book

This series was NOT a reverse harem series and the ending to this was so disappointing. Is this a YA series and I somehow missed that? I definitely would have liked this as a teenager, but the lack of passion had me snoozing. I held on for so long assuming there would eventually be some passion involved and we end this series with the main character still a virgin. Rebrand this series as Young Adult.

If you are expecting a true RH book this isn't it. I enjoyed the story but it wasn't what I was expecting. The story is unique and we'll thought out. There are a few inconsistencies with the story but they are easily overlooked. If you don't read them all one right after another you might not even notice them.

The characters are well developed throughout the series although I do have some lingering questions that I would have loved answers to.

Happy Reading!

This whole series was amazing. I honestly can not help you understand how amazing the characters were. I've lost count of how many times I've laughed and cried. I did a LOT of crying. This is the first series I've ever read that HONESTLY made me stop complaining about the little things and start appreciating my loved ones more.

Saddest book in the series

Book 6 & 7 broke my heart, but after those 2 books this one just seemed to rip the broken pieces right out of my chest. I'm glad October and Grace got their happy ending.

My only complaint is that the book is listed as a Reverse Harem. October was never in a committed relationship with 3+ guys at once. Separately throughout the series yes.

I will NEVER forgive you for killing Finn. He was my favorite character and to kill him off was low. So many characters were killed off its ridiculous throughout this series. Marrying VON - made me want to trash everything. He was the worst person for October to hook up with. You should have killed him off. I can’t even give this a half star. I just can’t

I had mixed feelings about this one. Loved the story but for the love of all that is good, October got on my nerves so bad. I must have put the book down like three times just so that I'd be able to continue and finish the story. The rest of the characters saved this book from a bad review.
