I was in need of a paranormal fix and this was an enjoyable shifter read. Rafe is a novella so is a quicker read, it does mean you don't get the characther depth you do with a full-length book, but the writer makes her characthers likable and relatable.
This book is a shifter read, wolfs shifters at that and stars Rafe and Tasha. Rafe is an alpha whose behaviour has gone a little off, he has no idea why until his mother has a word with him. Tasha is on the run, her pack has been decimated, she is still running when she meets Rafe. Rafe is an easy going alpha and Tasha is quite headstrong so will be interesting to see them in other books in series.
It is an Instalove read and you have to be prepared for that with PNR, I don't mind instalove, I do prefer 'instalust' with a strong connection that soon develops to Love.
This is book 1 in a series and the other charatcthers have been introduced and I look forward to reading their stores.

Rafe Blackstone is Alpha of the Darkmoon Pack and has a hunger that just won't stop - nobody and nothing can stop him and his nearest and dearest are really worried about him. Then his Mum tells him of a legend that says that this only happens when a shifter needs to find their mate and so out of desperation he embarks on a journey to find his mate.
Tasha is fighting to stay one step ahead of rogue shifters that have destroyed everything that she knows and loves. When they have Tasha cornered can she survive and have a future with the Alpha who has come to her aid?
This was a great story with lots of action and danger mixed in with a lovely romantic tale. It seemed to have everything - shifters, magic and romance. It was well written and I could feel all the emotions experienced as part of the story. A great start to the new series.

Not the strongest series introduction, but enjoyable
This book followed the general shifter romance tropes. I liked the Hunger as a sign that Rafe's mate was close, and in danger, but I did have a hard time with suspending my disbelief about the fact that no one recognized the Hunger in Rafe until his mom thought of the forgotten legends. Had no one in their pack found their true mate in so long? But Tasha knew about it instantly, and her pack wasn't that far away. I just didn't buy that part.
I did like the justice that the villain experienced for his greed.

Great story the writing just kept you intrigued
The way the story was written was to where you just kept wanting to read. You had to know what was happening next it was just that action-packed kind of book. I would highly recommend to read this book cuz I did not want to put it down

Rafe is a wolf alpha who is struggling with an immense hunger. Hunting and eating for days has no affect. Then his mother share the tale about the wolf's hunger. An Alpha wolf will suffer an unquenchable hunger when his destined mate is nearby and in need of help. This hunger will last until he decides to hunt for his mate. Rafe follows the lead of his wolf and runs into Tasha who is being attacked by rogue wolves. He rescues her and brings her back to his home.
Tasha's old life has been totally destroyed. He pack had fallen victim to a mysterious disease that made most wolves very ill. Then a pack of rogue wolves attacked killing her whole pride. Tasha wanted to stay and protect her family but her mother made her run to share the bad news so others wouldn't be affected. Tasha ran but she was followed for days by some rogue wolves. A Wolf's Hunger is a multiple-author series that takes place in a shared world. Tasha and Rafe's book is the first.
This is a relatively dark story. It begins with the slaughter of Tasha's family and entire pack. She's the sole survivor who runs towards the land that belongs to Rafe's pack so she can warn them about the threat to the wolves.
Rafe is out patrolling with his beta, Jacy when he comes across a group of men pursuing a lone woman. Rafe and Jacy take care of neutralizing the creeps and take the injured Tasha back home with them.
The bulk of the story centers around Tasha and Rafe discovering their bond and working to find the person responsible for the murders. It's a fast-paced novella that hits the ground running and never lets up. Michaels' writing has an odd flow that is jarring for me to read, and this book needed a bit of TLC and editing. There are some wonky shifts from past to present tense in the middle of a sentence that detract from the good story.
I enjoyed Rafe in spite of the textual flaws, and I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Wolf’s Hunger series written by A. K. Michaels. Rafe Blackstone is the Alpha of the Darkmoon Pack, he has no idea what is wrong with him and the hunger he is feeling. The hunger has never been like this before. His mother tells him that the hunger he is feeling is because his mate is close and that Nothing will stand in his way as the Hunger grows out of control, leaving Rafe powerless to resist the calling of his soul-mate. Rogue Wolves, a mystery magical illness that can cripple Shifters, and a Witch with a hidden agenda all stand in his way but he will do whatever it takes to rescue his love. Including calling in the dreaded Council. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author.

Ever wonder what it would be like to be hungry all the time and not understand why? That would be our Alpha Rafe. When he finally admits he has a problem he is told that he needed a mate. You would think every Alpha wanted their mate, not necessarily.
Then we have Tasha whom needs saving. Isn't that how it always goes though. But then in all honesty they both need saving in one way or another. Both very strong personalities and know what they want. Makes for the perfect Alpha couple if you ask me.
You ride along with these two and before you know it your emotions are tied in with theirs and you want to see them succeed in the mission that is placed before them. You will need to bring along a box of Kleenex for this ride just in case. Another home run for our beautiful Ava.

A very enjoyable short read with likeable characters and an interesting if sad plot.
Insta mate love/lust which was fine but very little background. I never think novellas make for a good first book as too much is lacking.
Other characters were quite intriguing and I will be reading their books, Zohar especially comes to mind.
Men, they never listen, only once Rafe had stopped ignoring his mother’s advice about what was wrong and managed to track his mate down did he find balance.
Poor Tasha, nobody should have to go through what she has and all for greed. I think the baddies' punishment was extremely easy and he deserved a long torture session.
There were a couple errors with the wrong tense used, especially noticeable in Chapter 19.

Anticipation Overload
As with many shifter romances, their is insta-love for the main characters, due to the accepted “fated mate” or “soul mate” premise. This book was no different and in fact, part of the plot was centered around this. However, that destiny to be soul mates did not equate into a quick consummation of the “mate bond.”
The sexual tension and anticipation was dragged on throughout the entire book, with lots of teasing, and sensual angst. So, nothing but loads of sexual frustration until the very last pages of the book. This formula doesn’t really work for me, but if you like the chase and lots of sexual tension, the story and characters are good, not great, but somewhat entertaining.

We join Rafe while he has an insatiable hunger he has no explanation for, until his very wise mother tells him his inner wolf needs a mate. Which brings us to Tasha, who is on the run from some really evil rogue wolves that want her dead!! That is just the beginning and the very entertaining and gut wrenching story goes on from there!! I really liked this book which kept me enthralled and engaged from start to finish!! Rafe is Alpha all the way, but sweet and tender with Tasha, the best of both worlds!! So I definitely recommend this book and I really hope you take the chance with Rafe and I promise you you won't be sorry!! Enjoy!!

Tasha wants to take the mating slow, at least until she buries her mom and dad. Only than will she agree to the mating. Can Rafe and Tasha find the person who killed her wolf pack? Will Rafe be able to control his wolf-side until the mating?
This book is an easy, fast read. The banter between characters is funny. The dialogue is great. The plot is simple but enjoyable. I would read other books by this author. There is adult language and steamy love scenes in this story.

Rafe is the story of a wolf pack alpha finding his mate. It starts with him out hunting and not being able to satisfy his hunger. He has spent days hunting and eating and finally his mother tells him he's having mating fever and his mate is close so he needs to find her and mate with her. He wastes time in denial but when he does accept it, he realizes his wolf is frantic to find his mate because he senses she is in danger. This leads to a mystery of what happened to his mate's pack as they are all dead. It's a bit of a mystery and some drama getting to the bottom of things. This is the first book of a series.

The 1st book of a new series by A K Michaels. Have enjoyed her other books and was just as impressed with this book as the others. If you haven't read any of her books you should definitely give them a try. She will become one of your favorite authors. She writes with style, interest, intrigue and hot romance. She builds up to the hot stuff but spices things up along the way. You'll thoroughly enjoy her books.

Tasha and Rafe's story is the first int he series and will have you doing what I did , buying the entire series !! The Hunger that affects Rafe and ends up leading him to his mate was a new twist for me ! But I do have to say that what happened in Tasha's life was so gripping that you just have to keep going to understand how she dealt with her life . And I do have to say that Sherman's snark got me .

I would heartily recommend this book to all readers who love great romantic shifter books. Rafe has no idea why he hungry all the time till his mother tells him it is his mate calling him. Finding her he finds that she is running from Rogues who have just finished off her pack after they got sick which shouldn't have been possible. Can he protect his mate as well as find who is responsible for this act.

This book had me laughing and crying at the same time. Good humor. Tasha is a strong person and has a great loss to over come. The loss of her pack. Rafe is compassionate and all Alfa. Just the perfect mate match for each other. Read this and find out why Tasha lost her pack.

While this story takes on a twist in story line with the Shifter Rafe going into an extreme hungry instead of seeing that his mate is in danger.
It is well written, keeps you on your toes and just entertains you as you read on. You will lose sleep as you start this book so dont start it before bed or if you have to work the next day as you will want to finish the story before moving on.

Loved It!
If you haven't read AK Michaels before you're in for a treat. This is the third series from this author I've read and I loved it. She builds a world that plays like a movie in your mind. From Las Vegas to the wilds of different states you can picture the surroundings. She sets up the reader so you become invested in her tales. Enjoy!

Loved it
I loved this story. The characters were engaging and entertaining and the storyline was intriguing and interesting. I loved how Rafe tried to deny but ended up where he should have been and how brave Tasha was. I hope there is more to the series, maybe one about the enforcer.

A great spin on things...
The beginning is quick, sad, and intriguing. This is a fast paced love, honor, and redeem story. The characters are excellent, pack crew may be "side" but each can have their own shot. Love the HEA no cliff-hanger here, but also see the advantage of more from the other characters stories! Recommend for all who love Shifter stories.

Sorry I waited so long to read
This has been sitting in my TBR for awhile.
I liked how the Hunger was shown to us through actions and feelings, not just a few words.
I liked that the women are strong and smart. Again, I liked how it was shown with action and with them talking, how you can submit to someone in rightful authority and not lose your own strength.

The Beginning
Read the first 3 books but after reading Dark Moon Falls had to read A wolf's Hunger again and add the new ones in too. As I am trying out KU. As for Rafe and his story, AWESOME! Tasha Montgomery is a wolf shifter who ran away from her pack after it was attacked. Tasha joins Rafe’s pack and together they stand against the Witch that is trying to destroy the pack. I really enjoyed this fantastic paranormal fantasy novel.
