Holy Batman! Darker James was So So So much better than James (Part 1). It was darker, sexier and holy cow! I devoured this one so fast that I was really disappointed when it finished.
The major twist is this story was so shocking! I did not see it coming at all!
Rain has turned into a woman that takes her life decisions into her own hands with so much confidence that surprisingly, I admire her for that. She is no more that little innocent girl, she is now a woman of confidence.
James and Rain together is everything I wanted it to be. I really liked this one, looking forward to reading whats next.

This is the third series I've read by Shayne Ford and it rocks!!! I couldn't wait to read more about James & Rain after how the last book ended.

Rain is still dealing wth the consequences from book 1 and is now barely surviving and completely isolated in New York. Rain is in survival mode and ends up doing the one thing she thought she wouldn't. But this path also leads her back to James, Lex & Ed.

I loved Rain even more in this book, she's grown a lot and realizes that everything James told her about the struggles in life are exactly true. She no longer wears her rose colored glasses skipping through life anymore. As much as James is a culprit in the choices Rain had to make his anger over her life choices consumes him and didn't make him think rationally anymore. James was fearless in everything except Rain, she was his weakness and he refused to acknowledge that. He only thought about himself and I was so happy that Rain had Lex in her corner.

Everything James was doing to Rain was a test but, there was no way to pass when he wouldn't throw her a lifeline.

I can't wait for the last book in this series!!!!

As I mentioned in My review for Book 1 – James, I found this story so binding that I actually sprinted through all 3 books for this James story in 4 days.
In this book, story picks up from where Rain has come to New York to settle down and stand a chance on some career for herself. But all she gets is a hit of the harsh side of the life. Being uneducated leaves her with not many options of job, she actually resorts to the sex market in order to survive. BUT, she becomes a very high class sex worker that she gets to choose her clients.

And here this Asshole James bumps into her as his client which leads to one after the other situations. This idiot actually likes her in fact loves her but cant do anything about it coz of his own past experience. As it was clear in first book also, all 3 guys – James and his 2 friends, share the same feeling towards Rain.

I hates James in this book to my core as he completely demeaned her in so many places and in the worst way he could. Although he was adviced by Lex not to take some decisions but he still does out of spite.

Book ends with a very very bad note. Could not wait so hopped on to the Book 3!

I didn’t really love the direction that this went - she turned into a prostitute and makes out that being rich/ having money is what you need to be happy? She has zero friends or family and is basically bitter and still hung up on James. She has no college education and her book wasn’t successful.

She ends up having a threesome with them all on a tropical island but really they all just seem to be using her.

Wow, this was even better than the first book! I love that Rain matured and came into herself more to be her own person. She has a great, strong personality that I love. We also got to see more of Lex and Ed, which means I was drooling almost the whole time.
This book was sexier and edgier than the first and the ending made me crave more!

This is the second book in the series and book 1, James, needs to be read first.

Rain Morgan has left her home behind and gone to New York. But for Rain things have not gone the way she had hoped and she finds herself lonely and with little money left to her name. Then one night her luck changes when she meets David Moore.

James Sexton has never forgotten the girl who left him but has vowed to move forward until one night when they are surprisingly brought back together.

Now both Rain and James have to figure out of they have moved on from the hurt in the past and can have something in the future or if they are destined for more heartbreak.

Wow - this series just took it up a notch in intensity and hot sex scenes!

I honestly loved the woman the Rain became in this book and how she became more confident in herself and grew as a person. Yet she still had one weakness - James.

James had his moments where I really liked him and then it all fell apart again for me at the end. I couldn't figure why he was offering what he did only to disappear after.

This book is up and down with emotions and it takes you on a real ride! There was so much happening but I refuse to give any spoilers!!

I loved when both James and Rain were honest with each other and how they discussed the past, the present and the future.

I can't wait to see how it ends!

I love this series so much. It offers a complex romance that is penned by the very talented Shayne Ford. This is book two in a series of three and it is not written or intended to be read as a stand alone. Trust me you would not want to even try because you want the full story. Every detail is a stop along the way on our journey and they all matter. This is a story of love. A love that doesn't come easy or quickly.
Book two starts with Rain still dealing with the fallout from the end of book one. Life has not turned out as she thought it would. She's a bit older, certainly wiser and yes somewhat bitter. On her own and broke, she's working as hard as she can and getting nowhere. This struggle has worn her down and finally she makes a decision that sends her down a path she never would have dreamed she would travel. This decision is what leads to Rain and James coming face to face once again.
James and the his friends are still living life their way. Building their casino, pulling strings and enjoying all that comes with their success. When Rain walks back into their lives it's more than a surprise, it's a shock. Emotions run very high and relationships are put to the test. Rain finally gets to see what a Night With The Kings is all about. This of course just leaves us with more questions Will this be a new beginning for Rain and James?
Will this be the end? Can James finally work through his past and feelings and be what Rain deserves? Even with all the pleasure; will this be the final straw that finally breaks Rain. Can everyone's friendship survive after what happens and everyone's feelings are exposed?
I don't know but I want to. I'm really looking forward to the conclusion to see what happens. I highly recommend this book/series and hope you do to. It is so worth the read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Good grief, I just love the gift Shayne Ford has and shares with her readers!! This one starts off exactly where book 1, James, left off. Rain is trying to make it on her own in New York and recover from the fallout of the "truths" that shattered not only her life but those around her. Disillusioned, heart broken, and working 2 jobs to barely make ends meet, her life is nothing like she naively thought it would be. James has come to realize what he had and let go back in Colorado, but he's grown colder and built his wall a little thicker. There's no going back to change the past. His father had taught him that long ago and he foolishly let it happen anyway. This is an unconventional love story interspersed with life, harsh realities, regrets, and hidden down deep the small hope that maybe in another life it could happen. This is not a standalone book and you wouldn't want to start here. The buildup to this one is worth it but get ready for another fantastic journey that you won't want to put down until you finish. Be prepared for another cliff hanger. This is soooo worth it.

This Is my honest review for the ARC I received. Rain moves on to New York to start a new life as she blames herself for her mum and dads divorce. The book store in New York proves to be very difficult Trying to work alongside nasty Angel makes things even worse. Hardly managing to feed herself and pay the rent she meets David a very rich play boy who is married. He pays her for evenings spent with him and in the meantime she meets a woman who gives her a card with an Escort details on it. She becomes very successful at this life choice so much that she acquires a name for herself with the rich and famous. Who would believe that Rain with her honesty and principles could do this. She is turning into James not like the girl she once was. Her escort name Red leads to a chance netting with James, Lex and Ed who have paid for her services. The sex gets hotter and hotter, keeping all three hooked on her. Shayne Ford is definitely the author for me, each book in the trilogy is superb.

Shayne Ford’s details paint such a vivid picture. The words make you feel. She doesn’t have to tell you how the characters feel. You are right there with them. Her writing is everything I love about reading. Oh, and a great story to go along with it.
This is not your sweet happy ever after, at least not yet, but you will not regret reading this one bit. This is about love, regret, betrayal and finding your own way. A perfect example of how your good and bad, happy and sad mold you to who you are today. It is hot and steamy to the point you’ll squirm in your seat, your blood will boil and you might very well need a cold shower.
I felt so much for these people. I understood why they did what they did but still wanted to smack them and tell them not to let their past dictate. Communicate! I so want James and Rain to find their happy ever after.

Wow....what can be said about this book that probably hasn’t been said before. HOT does not even begin to touch what this book entails. Great sex scenes, sexy powerful men, etc. Although this book is sexy, it is also sad and heartbreaking.

To see the lengths Rain goes through to change who she is and to fall into the trap that is the Night of the Kings, as a reader, you know this spells disaster for her and James. What I want to know is why she thought James would want her after a night like that? How do you be with someone after sharing a night with your closest buddies? Even though Rain and James love each other, they keep making the same mistakes over and over again. How do they fix it from here? This book was a much better read than the first. I am anxious for the conclusion.

Definitely an unconventional & complicated romance this is turning out to be. This part of the story took a sharp left turn for Rain that I really didn't see coming at all. Didn't expect such emotional development from Lex & Ed either when the guys meet up with Rain again. Also in this part of the story, we witness the infamous Night of the Kings, which was also another surprise in & of itself. So many conflicting emotions during this leg of the journey but definitely intrigued by how this story is gonna wrap up.

I got this as an ARC for my honest opinion and review. I am falling in more with this author the more that I read. This is the second book in this series. It has Rain dealing with what has taken place at the end of book one. She is broke and bitter and working so hard and clawing her way, but she is not getting anywhere. She walks back into James' life and he is so not ready for that. Does this mean a new beginning for them? You will have to read to find out.

It doesn't take long to read, but that's part of what makes this book so good. It ended on a cliffhanger, just like the first one, leaving you wanting more. In Dark James, the second book of Night of the Kings, the author weaves a tale that sucks you in and puts you on an emotional, sexy roller-coaster ride with Rain and James, featuring Lex and Ed. When the ride ends it feels like you crashed and have a hole in your heart. Loved it!

Wow ! I need to cool down, before I begin writing the review. I have not read book 1, but thankfully, this book had quite a few references to what had happened. So, I could enjoy this story. What can I say about the Kings ?? They are hot specimens for sure.. Add their self-awareness and swag to the mix, you cannot wait to read what all books in this series have in store.

Rain is a beautiful yet damaged girl. She has sealed her heart shut and lives life very practically. The story progresses beautifully. I loved how contradicting James felt about Rain. The chemistry between all of them was phenomenal. Lex and Ed were such a beautiful addition to mix.. Can't Rain have all 3 of them ? Obviously, Lex and Ed adore her and James doesn't seem to have qualms with sharing. I guess I am possessive of Lex and Ed on behalf of Rain :D

I think James' and Rain's story end might be a little predictable. But none-the-less, I look forward to reading it.

Oh boy, this was so much better than the first book! While the first one was a bit messy and was lacking in a few departments, this second installment delivered! It's more exciting, fast-paced, and the characters are more developed.

There are twists and turns luring around the corner of each page and it is definitely exciting to read.

Their mutual infatuation is taken to the next level, with more maturity and expertise. While both still wary of each other, they can't help but gravitate to one another.

I enjoyed this story and I can't wait to read the next installment! :)

Lex entranced this story bringing a better man in the picture. However, will he get in the way between the undying flame of the two and his friendship with James?

If you ain't first you might as well be last

I was soo hooked through book 1 that I could hardly wait for book two.
I was disappointed.
Don't get me wrong I liked it and I love this series so far, but book two felt forced. it felt rushed. There were some amazing parts but then... at times it was "too much" Idk it just didn't have the same intoxicating feeling for me. I'm hoping book 3 pulls me back in for the win.
