From USA TODAY bestselling author Kerry Adrienne comes a riveting novella perfect for fans of the Shifter Wars series
Olivia, born blind and without the ability to shift, yearns to seek her own fate away from her watchful and devoted wolf pack. Vulnerable and stuck in human form, she’s alone and at risk in the forest’s brutal winter when she’s rescued by a park ranger and taken to his cabin in Deep Creek. By the warmth of a crackling fire, she’s comforted by his presence. But it’s his rugged scent that stirs something in her she’s never felt before.
Bear shifter Powell sensed the instant he held her that Olivia was his mate. He also knew she had the untapped powers to discover her true shifting nature—if only he could convince her to trust in him, and to believe in herself. Now the one thing that stands to threaten their healing mating hunger is Olivia’s distrusting and vigilant pack. A pack prepared to do anything to get her back.
But there is no danger as strong, no desire so liberating as what Powell is bringing out in her—because Olivia can finally see where her destiny lies.

Saving His Wolf by Kerry Adrienne is a sweet PNR about overcoming obstacles, finding yourself and love. Olivia is determined to avoid being force to mate the sadistic second of her pack. She is blind and unable to shift. She runs away during a snow storm. Gets hurt and off track. She is found by bear shifter Powell. Powell doesn’t want a mate but fate has given him one in Olivia. These two have a bit to learn about themselves before they can get to a HEA. This is a short, sweet and sexy tale that will get you thinking.
I just adore the type of paranormal romance where it keeps you on the edge all the way through. This author did that with this one. It centers around Olivia and Powell with once you are in it you have to see what will occur next especially for her. The drama that unfolds have you caught up in what next along with the mating that has heat of its own. There is also a couple of hurdles you know must be jumped with having to see who comes out of that. This is a picture of love and trust with how they go hand in hand with the power that carries. Only down side is it is over too quick.

Even though this one was my least favorite of the three, Saving His Wolf was still really good. This was a story about two unlikely lovers overcoming even the largest obstacles in front of them. I liked the characters well enough, but I couldn't get over the female MC. She kept running away and whining a little bit too much for my tastes, but her sexy bear mate more than made up for her shortcomings.
I'd have probably given this one a higher rating if I had more time with the characters in a full length novel. As a novella, it just seemed cut short and a little fast paced. The saving grace for this one was the awesome character development. There were so many sides to these characters and I knew I was just seeing the tip of the ice berg. I just wish I had more time to get to know them.
Overall, pretty good. I would recommend it to M/F shifter book readers.

I read an excerpt of this story a while back and was sort of intrigued to read it if I got the chance. I’ve not gone out looking for them so I can’t say for sure how rare it is, but I don’t always come across a book dealing with a blind person (as a main character) in them. As with most things it can be hit or miss…. I will just say that I think Olivia is a wee bit stupid at times. I can sympathize with her flight from her pack and panic spurring you to forge ahead without full preparation. As a blind person you have to prepare to like the N Th degree sometimes. I can’t ever picture myself doing what she did; I have a hard enough time navigating on the sidewalk by myself. But, that is just me as I know there are lots of capable traveling blind people out there that could probably do this with no problem at all. I’m just not one of them. The part I thought dumb was when she was safe in a warm place with someone who could protect her and hadn’t taken advantage of her she had tried to get away. As someone who grew up around there (I’m guessing about this) one would think that the person would be used to the foibles of navigating a winter storm … or how storms work in that area? I just thought it really silly for her to even do what she did. The other thing that sort of bothered me was the whole healing her blindness. I understand, since I wasn’t born blind, that healing blindness would be a wondrous thing. But, in talking to a lot of people who were blind since birth it wouldn’t be so for a lot of them. There is a lot of brain re-wiring that goes on when you don’t have a sense. The others compensate for the loss. There would be a lot to get used to if you suddenly could see for the first time in your life. I’ve heard some people, who were blind from birth; say that they wouldn’t want vision if there were a chance to do so. It is hard to understand from the standpoint of someone who can and has always seen. Sometimes I think a little too much when I read and it can ruin the story for me. I liked the world Ms. Adrienne created and I plan on looking into the other books set in this world. I just wasn’t too enthused about Olivia’s character and circumstance. I did like Powell and what little we learned of him in this novella. It seemed like he would have the right touch to deal with a person who has a handicap like Olivia without being a patronizing jerkface who thinks she wouldn’t be able to take care of herself.
This was a good book by Ms. Adrienne. It had a good story to it but felt rushed and could have been expanded more. It left me looking for more at the end. HOWEVER I still enjoyed it very much. Olivia was born blind but that doesn't stop her from escaping from her pack, it does however put her in a life or death situation. A situation that her mate, Powell, must save her from. These two are trouble, Powell knows she is his mate but is weary of wolves and doesn't think they know their mate when they meet them especially since Olivia doesn't act like she knows.
The more and more I read these mixed shifter books I can't help but love them more. Big bear and a precious she wolf will make the perfect couple if she can get away from the deranged alpha that wants to mate her against her will.
This story shows you how a strong blind non shifting wolf works thru her issues to become a very strong woman. Can she defeat this alpha and win back her life and live happy with her mate?
Wish there would have been a little more explanation at the end regarding the pack she came from.
Olivia and Powell are by far my favorite couple that Kerry Adrienne has written!! They are sweet and genuine and I really connected with their love story!! While having a fated mate is a huge part of the entire shifter war series I love that it took Powell and Oliva both some time to accept that they were supposed to be together!
Adrienne created this amazing "religious system" that explains shifters in this world and it is just beautiful!! Their guardian or god of sorts is a majestic being and I loved her part in the story not to mention that she is a girl. . . something else I really enjoyed!
We get to see small glimpses of characters from both of the previous books in the shifter war series and that was really cool to see a small glimpse of what happened to Amy and Griff, and Bria and Derek since their books. It is worth noting that this novella can absolutely be read as a standalone but of course, is so much more enjoyable when you understand everything else about the setting of Deep Creek!
Olivia's blindness adds a unique touch to this story in the series. It gives Adrienne's characters something relatable to overcome which is something that we really didn't get to see in the previous two novels.
In short, I LOVE this entire series but I think i have found one of my favorite relationships of all time in Olivia and Powell!!
*** I voluntarily reviewed this book, I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book, these are my honest ramblings and I hope you enjoy reading them - kat***
Olivia and Powell's story is short but sweet. Its got everything you need to enjoy the story, but I liked the characters that much I wanted it continue. Maybe they will show up in a new book? The epilogue finishes the story off, but after she stands up to Alfred, I wanted to what would happen next to the pack and for Olivia. But I guess that is something you have to deal with in anthologies. Will check out the other books that the author has written - yes.
This was a nice little read. A fair amount of steam and an interesting bit of story. I just found myself wanting more. It fell flat in several places and had me skimming at times. I was intrigued by mention of other bears matings and may look into earlier books in the series. This was a middle of the road read for me, ok for a quick shifter story fix.
Olivia and Powell were a mixed match which only proves that the heart wants what the heart wants.Even though she was blind Olivia saw more than people gave her credit for.Lovely story and you'd be a fool not to read this.
I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is a very short story that deals with characters in the shifter war's series. It was a pretty good and sweet story. I loved the romance that grew between them.
