She has a broken heart. He has a broken body. Together, they’ll find healing in each other and the Great Australian Outback.
Marlo never expected to find love in Australia—far from it, she hates the place. She’s got a crappy job, her fiancé has just left her, and all she wants now is to buy a ticket home to America.
Then she meets Jack—a handsome, rugged Australian billionaire with a wild streak; as good at handling horses as he is at tumbling in her bed. He owns a station in the middle of Australia, and when she takes up his offer of work, sparks of attraction between the two quickly blossom into romance.
But something is wrong.
Marlo is the one with the broken heart, but it’s Jack who is acting strange—like a storm cloud hangs over his head. It has something to do with the eyepatch just above those kissable lips, but he doesn’t want to talk about it. All Marlo knows is it’s an old childhood tragedy, come back to rear its ugly head.
Jack has healed her broken heart. But that might not be enough in the vast Australian Outback. Because Jack too is broken.
And it might take more than she can give to heal him.
Outback Billionaire is a standalone romance with a happy ending.
But be warned: this book is as hot as the Australian Outback! It contains smoking action between a feisty American woman and a sexy, bad boy Australian Billionaire, including sizzling scenes which are for adults only.
Read this book if you enjoy intelligent romance, hot love scenes, and bad boy billionaires with sexy Australian accents!
ARC provided by the author. I admit, when I started reading this book, I was like "what is this?" There's a poor horse who's being beaten for God's sake!! But I went over the first chapter and things began to make sense. Outback Billionaire takes place in Australia, alternating between Sydney and the Outback. The book follows the love journey of a big cattle station owner Jack and a wannabe actress Marlo. Jack has lost one of his eyes during his childhood because of cancer and is afraid of getting close to someone in the fear of losing more of himself. Meanwhile Marlo realized that she was naive by trusting her long term manager and fiancé Adam, who turned out to be a rude and selfish jerk. Together, Jack and Marlo will discover the power of love and how it can help to overcome every obstacles. In a nutshell, Outback Billionaire is a very touching story with some steamy moments.
I received an ARC for an honest review. This was a sweet story about two people who met by chance and developed a friendly relationship that grew into something deeper. There was a slow but interesting start but it was quickly filled with lots of emotional circumstances. Marlo and Jack, the main characters, were easy to like and were made a great couple. They were there for each other in their time of need and developed a strong bond. I could easily see this story playing out as a cute Lifetime movie.
From an Aussie perspective, I have at last read a book about Australia, which paints the Outback truly as it is. The characters are as big and bold, as the guys that work and play, just as hard, with only a pinch of bullshit applied. I can only recommend this book to you, as a really good read.
This was a good read. Marlo finds herself in a crappy job And a slimy boyfriend/manager. Jack is a millionaire jackaroo running his own cattle each in the outback and life hasn't been kind to him either. He and Marlo meet at not the best of times for each but love can rise put of the ashes. Can they together face what life throws their way? You will have to read to find out.
Touching story of life, horses, romance and the outback!! 4.5 stars
Jack is in town to see his doctor and to see a man about a horse. Nothing goes as planned. Bad news at his appointment and seeing the mistreatment of a show horse has him canceling the sale of his horse. Then seeing the mistreatment of a young woman has him rescuing her.
Marly is hoodwinked by her fiancé who steals all “their” money which she earned; and is ready to leave wretched Australia. When her boss says her fiancé committed to an extension of her contract and he uses his fists to convince her; Jack is there to step in.
It becomes quickly apparent that Marly is not exactly suited to life on an expansive cattle ranch, but it also become apparent that she had not previously “seen” Australia and all it had to offer; including a moody, sexy, troubled cattle station owner.
Can a recently jilted woman and a man who may be a billionaire, but certainly does not “have it all” find their happily ever after? Two people come together at a difficult time; a poignant, inspiring, sensual journey ensues!!
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
LOVED IT! Nikki Steele has released a well written book, that has some twists and lots of exciting reading!
Nikki Steele has managed to write a book containing lots of chemistry between the characters. Nothing is forced and their relationship develops over time. Makes it kind of realistic. The problems the characters have could be everyday problems, and that only makes reading the book even better. The plot is not that surprising but I loved it anyway. In spite of the story is about horses, cattle and taking place in the Outback, there is not too much describing so you get lost. The fine line is absolutely there! Absolutely a book that is worth reading. Contains places that gets you laughing, crying, smiling, frowning, yes a lot of feelings. Steamy and hot in doses! The ending hat to be that way. Could not have ended it in another way :)
***I voluntarily read this ARC to give an honest review***
I voluntarily reviewed this book as an arc in exchange for an honest review. This book was quite a different kind of read for me and not the usual billionaire wooing beauty that you see every day. This was so much more. This was the story of broken dreams and brokenness of body and heart/mind. Marley thinks she is working toward that big Hollywood gig but her fiancée is not the manager he claims to be. He is a lying, cheating dirtbag but Marley finds that out too late. Jack is the billionaire but he's not a flashy man. He is a solitary man with an eyepatch. Losing his eye to cancer, he worries about it returning and never gets close to anyone for fear of losing them. An interesting love story woven intricately around these two. I really liked their love dance and the delicate balance they maintained. Must read!
I loved it but... The romance itself was 5 stars - I loved their story - I loved how he showed her a whole world she did not know existed and in return, she gave him the tools, as well as a feeling of completeness to fill the void he did not know, was even there. The reason for the loss of stars - A lot of it left me asking myself WHY??? Just occurrences and settings that did not make any sense - what was she doing in Australia, how did Adam get away with it without her noticing. I received this ARC from the author without obligation.
I have read quite a few Nikki Steele books and I have always enjoyed them, but I have to say that this one Is my favorite. Jack and Marlo didn't have a fairy tale romance. They both had issues that they had to over come. Through it all you are hoping that they get what they deserve, each other.
This fun outback adventure takes a wannabe actress who can calm almost any animal and drops her in the middle of a station. Add a owner who is has a short temper and see what happens.
"A romantic, almost poetic, novel to consume you entirely!"
It amazes me how unexpectedly the love can blooms and, ultimately, it can never be controlled or taken apart by the decisions the others might took. It's how this beautiful world was created after all!
I was provided with an ARC advanced copy by the author for exchange of my honest review. Thank you so much for giving me the chance Nikki!
I must confess that I haven't used to read this particular writing style in the books I read. On a first sight, Outback Billionaire, seemed almost poetic with all these notably characteristic words which used to describe every detail or every emotion. It's a narration I wasn't accustomed before. However, this unexpected change of rote unrolled the same feelings on me like any other love story I had the pleasure to read so far, making me immensely happy for the chance to read this story.
"There is so much beauty in the Outback - in the twist and curls of the trees that grown in the scorched red earth or the line of the fence that never end. Everything is bigger, more beautiful, more important" - Jack
The story is taking place in the Outback of Australia, the vast, remote interior of Australian countryside, which isn't welcomed to everyone who wasn't used to its difficult conditions. We all know the endless expanse of land and the many cattle or sheep or goat stations, which are located inside it, claiming millions of acres inland, keeping safe their animals into their property.
"It was easier to be agree than scared, when life was out of control" - Jack
Jack is one of these station owners. His life is where the Outback life exists, having not one single need to live the urban luxury, billions of people enjoy to have. However, he had an obligation to visit the city of Sydney, every four or six months for a health check. On one of these visits there, he went to an Outback show to spent his free time there and also, to observe how the owner of the show treats his animals. He met there an American woman, Marlo, and after a not so pleasant moment between her and her boss, he gave her a job at his station. Despite his well manners, Jack wasn't always an easygoing man to interact with. He was quick-tempered, edgy and curt, defects that made his life, and all the other people around him, much more difficult than already was. Nevertheless, Marlo's contrasting character and attitude, snapped a thick wall in him and for the first time, in his life, he felt that his future might not be dark anymore.
"You put me under this spell where I forget anything else exist." - Jack
Marlo, never expected to spent her days in Sydney working as the Queen of the Outback show. Her dream to be a famous actress of Hollywood was a long fantasy now that she was deep in dust and horse smell. However, her fiancée, and manager of hers, was certain that his idea to do her debut role out there was brilliant. Well, he was a jerk!!! For all that, and after an unexpected, terrible situation, Marlo was in the middle of a serious decision; to work or not for this unknown man who proposed her a job in the real Outback. Her decision was crystal clear on a heartbeat and the journey of hers, after that decision, was nothing she ever imagined. It was an adventure of a lifetime!
"He was her cowboy - her outback Australian jackaroo..." - Marlo
The interest Jack shown for Marlo, and vice versa, wasn't physical at first. It was the contrast Marlo had from all the other womens outhere, a mix of elegant posture, feminine attitude and thick American accent that caused Jack's attention on her. It was his diversity from everyone else Marlo ever met that caused her to feel attracted on Jack. Their connection happened after they realized that both had the same love for the land and animals. It was a matter of time, this love to bring them closer in an more intimate level, which both craved but still afraid to ask for. I was delightful to observe them shown their affection to each other, as only them knew how. Two different, broken souls having the same feelings and needs, proving with acts how much they care, how deeply they love. I was rooting for this couple! Until, the inevitable happened and their personal paradise was dissolved.
I honestly enjoyed and liked the unknown, until now, writing style of this book. The author was well versed in every part, every detail about the Outback of Australia, providing with great intelligence the beauty of this unknown world many of us won't have the luck to know by experience. Her love for the land was palpable through her words, helping me easily imagine how it looks without Google it. It felt surreal actually! Her talent didn't stay there, however. The way she narrated the blooming of Marlo's and Jack's relationship was what I liked most, even if she used the third person narration. Not too sweet, not too hedonistic, it had the perfect amount of vehement passion and vulnerability. I loved Marlo's character and understood her completely when she was in a quandary. I even loved Jack despites his rough character; he was a gentleman to Marlo and that was what counted in the end. I loved the story, it consumed me entirely, especially closed to the end, which didn't take long to come because the book was truly a page-turning story, making the time passes pleasantly and cozy. Just like I want a book to be!!! Hope I intrigued your imagination and made you grab the book yourselves and find out what's happening.
Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with unforgettable stories.
Outback Billionaire by Nikki Steel a great five star read. I was a little hesitant at first reading this book, as it didn’t seem like anything I would normally read, but once I got started, I couldn’t put it down it was great. Marla is a great woman, she’s an aspiring actress, she hasn’t had the best of luck and seems to have terrible taste in men, one moment where she is kind to a horse will change her life forever. Jack is away from his home in the outback to sell a horse to a circus and see a doctor, while he has some time to waste he watches the circus and sees a woman being very natural and kind with a horse that has a tendency to bite. This woman sparks something in him, something that will chance his view of life. This was such a great story, its hot and heavy, but sweet and lovable at the same time.
Marla moved with her boyfriend/manager and has a really bad job that she doesn't enjoy. Jack has come into town for his regular check up and to see about selling one of his horses. After witnessing the bad treatment of a horse he changes his mind. When the two meet can something good come out of all the bad.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is a beautiful story about two people whose paths crossed at just the right time. Marlo, the American actress being taken advantage personally and professionally and Jack, the Outback billionaire in Sydney for medical reasons. Their story isn't about love at first sight or acting on lust. They are attracted to each but their current circumstances halt any immediate reaction, instead, their relationship progresses organically.
Marlo realizes her acting may not be what she wants anymore. She learns and appreciates the beauty surrounding her in the Outback.
Jack realizes he finds a sense of peace and a calmness with Marlo around. His fits of anger and moodiness subsides making a more pleasant person for his Station employees and friends.
The drama really gets interesting when Jack receives some bad news and Marlo's ex-fiance shows up at her door.
The book is well written. The characters are developed and interesting. The story holds your attention all the way to the HEA.
"I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own."
Outback Billionaire features one aspiring American actress, Marlo and an Australian cattle rancher billionaire, Jack. Marlo is a sweet, naive girl who's life is in shambles after catching her fiance/manager in bed with another woman. He leaves her after taking all of her money. Jack is a bad-tempered man who has just had his life upended. A chance encounter brings them together. Both are in a bad place when they meet, so while they seem ill-fated, "another place, another time' this meeting could be the only chance either of them have.
I loved the detailed writing. I feel like I know know what life on an Australian cattle station is truly like. I also enjoyed Marlo's struggle to find her place in this new world. It showed her strength of character which seemed to be lacking before. The slow build up between Marlo and Jack made their relationship seem more solid. Their sureness was a nice contrast to the wildness of their surroundings. When they were together everything seemed to fade around them; burdens, past hurts, future concerns.
Although everyone on the station can see the truth between these two, they let it slip away. An unexpected return and bad news are the means of destruction, but fear is the cause. Watching Marlo and Jack fall back into old patterns and away from each other is frustrating and heartbreaking. People can be blind in more ways than the obvious. Can a desperate, grand gesture save their future? I highly recommend that you read this one to find out.
I enjoyed this story. It did take me a few chapters to get invested into it though. Jack goes to the doctor and to sell a horse, ends up seeing Marlo. Marlo is stuck in a crap job with a sleezy boyfriend. Jack was a guy you wanted to dislike because he could be rather tough around the edges but once you hear his story it's hard not to fall for him.
I was given this book to read in exchange for an honest review.
It was okay to good at times, other times you are wondering what is happening - primarily in the beginning. I would have loved to have more of a back story on Marla to understand why she shuts down when it comes to the boyfriend/manager and becomes someone that he steam rolls over especially when it comes to her money. Jack, has so much bottled up because of his illness that it makes him hard for me to relate to him.
Once I just let it go and read, the book was enjoyable.
Thank you Nikki Steele for the ARC in return for my honest review of your book.
If you have a love for and are a fan of romances but are tired of books about the millionaire/billionaire crowd that are filled with pages of descriptions of the glassed walled penthouse apartment he lives in, the beautiful gowns he gives his newest interest, the pomp and circumstance of evenings that end just as he has arranged - with a sky full of fireworks just for her, the lengthy descriptions of his many rare and often Autobahn ready cars and the beautiful jewels that he hands out as if they were macaroni necklaces, then this book was made for you.
Jack has great riches. However his character is much more than suits custom cut and expertly tailored just for him and Italian leather loafers. He dresses as an every man; a man in a pair of well worn jeans and a t-shirt. He owns powerful rides, but they happen to be helicopters; one to get him into Sydney and the others to muster his cattle. He works hard to keep his land, his cattle, his horses and his staff well taken care of. Plus he works his land just like his staff. He gets dirty and sweaty, rained on and muddy. He is also a man scarred by a nightmare that has left him with only one eye and a pirate-like patch to prove it!
Marlo has fantasies of being a Hollywood actress. Instead her manager/fiance has her placed in a show as far from her Hollywood dream as possible; as the sexy girl in the rodeo ring to keep the attention of the audience. She has a tender spot for the horses in the show, dislikes the managerial style that allows the horses to be hurt into submission but feels helpless to do anything. She is following her fiance's advise that this show will be their ticket back to Hollywood.
Jack with his unknown past, and secrets that make him grumpy and often outright angry, takes an interest in Marlo after seeing her treat a whipped horse in a serious lather with kindness and a carrot. He cannot get her out of his mind, even though he is in The City for personal business that takes a lot of attention and builds up his stores of anger. Anger at the treatment of the rodeo animals and more that he will not discuss.
Marlo has had enough of beaten animals, a charlatan fiance/manager and a career that is getting her nowhere fast. Her money disappears into his hands when she confronts him and that is when a tired and hopeless Marlo meets a life-angry Jack.
That is it for my character analysis. I could go on, but I am not a believer in big spoilers. Above is further than I would normally go. I made an exception for: * French Pressed Coffee * Descriptions of the Scent of a Man (okay, I am a sucker for any book that goes into the details of how a man smells to a woman who is smitten by him. It was with great joy that I discovered that Ms. Steele does not repeat her words and often he smells a bit different than he did the last time her nose was up close. He has his natural scent, which attracts Marlo but he also takes on the scent of the scene. That kind of detail should not go without great praise. Thank you Ms.Steele for understanding what makes men attractive is not all that one can see. It is all the things one cannot see that grabbed at me through simple but meaningful words.) * The Expectations that those who Work for their Money, Work... no matter how pretty or wealthy they may be * The lack of flashes of money, page after page. I preferred the descriptions of a country I don't know and dirty jeans and worn work boots. * The reality that money does not solve all problems, sometimes it takes people and emotions and trust and luck and belief in something to powerful to name. * The treatment of animals with kindness and not the power that man can have to hurt an animal under his charge. * Most of all I made an exception for Love in all it's forms; from betrayal to friendship to trust to passion and so much more.
I suggest you read for yourself about Jack and Marlo and decide for yourself if the words on the page transport you to a land of great beauty, of gorgeous sunsets, surprising treats like waterfalls in the middle of what seems to be parched land now hungrily sucking up rainwater and an opportunity to love for however long these two seemingly very different souls with different dreams may have together.
My suggestion is to grab your cup of coffee, and if circumstances allow; sit outside and read this book. There is beauty to be found in nature, even in a big city. Take advantage of it. Follow the story of this billionaire, not for his money but for how much he is like the man you currently love, once loved or dream of loving.
i received this book for an honest review. jack goes to sydney to see his doctor and to sell his horse Obi to a traveling circus. when he scouts out the circus he sees Marlo and he is entranced by her. Marlo is dealing with a slimy fiancé/ manager that is doing her wrong named Adam. when she catches him doing wrong , she leaves the circus and jack gives her a job at his station. from there the relationship between them grows. then he accidentally lets her go in his time of need and has to get over himself and go get her. this story made me laugh, cry, gasp, and hold my breath. very deep subject matter handled very well with great storytelling. i never wanted this story to end and didnt put it down from front to back. i was drawn into this story more than any other story i have read in a long time!!!!
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. I very much enjoyed the story of Marlo and Jack - they were able to be their for each other as life threw them curves.... friendship grew to love ❤️ even with the unfortunate unforeseen circumstances life can throw at you. Marlo and Jack were able to find, strength and love.
Marlo and Jack are the main characters in this book and at its heart, it is a sexy love story. I won’t recap the story as the author writes it so well but I will say this: Jack has his demons, personal ones, and it gives this story its dark side – at least to me. Marlo is a bit wimpy in that she flip flops in making decisions in her life but she, too, has some heavy issues in her past that she needs to work out. Eventually, Jack and Marlo get their HEA, but it is sometimes a hard route to get there.
Nikki is a new author to me. I was lucky to get an opportunity to read Outback Billionaire. You or someone you know could probably relate to Jack. No spoilers here so grab a copy of Outback Billionaire.
Jack saves Marlo but in the end will it be Marlo that saves Jack.
Nikki Steele has done it again. I received a copy of this book and couldn’t wait to leave a review. I haven’t read any book she has written that wasn’t absolutely terrific. This time her hero is from Australia and runs an immense cattle station in the Outback. Jack is a solitary sort of person who has a lot of anger he has buried inside himself since he was a child and lost an eye to cancer. Marlo is an American actress who is in a lousy situation because of her fiancé who cares only about himself and thinks nothing of using her to make life better for himself. When she is left alone to face a drunken employer after her fiancé deserted her and left her with almost nothing, Jack rescues her and takes her back to his home in the Outback. There she learns about what the Outback is really all about, not the lousy places the show she was with took her to. Get this book to read about the beauty of the Outback in Australia and how Marlo and Jack find their way through a few obstacles to get an HEA. You will love this book.
I found this story to be really well written and easy to follow, really enjoyed the story line and the characters with their emotions involved that pulled you in to the story.
Thank you for allowing me to read an ARC. I loved reading about the Outback Billionaire. Jack was dealing with his one demon cancer, however he had a kind heart and soul when it came to how someone treats both human and animal in life. Marlo slipped into his life after her so called friend Adam played her for a fool. The best thing that Marlo did was to move on with her life and agree to work for Jack to get enough money to go back home. Marlo was a force to be reckon with. She proved that she was a strong woman that would handle any situation that confronted her in Australia. Marlo showed Jack how she could handle anything that came her way even his worries by showing him how to relax in any situation. I enjoyed reading about Australia and its country side and the struggles of the land. I loved reading this book, no one should pass it up.
This is a very well-written romance. The characters both need to heal from the pain of their past disappointments. I liked how the author really focused on developing the characters so that they felt very real. There is some real sadness to the story but also happiness in finding unexpected love.
I voluntarily ARC for honest review. This story take place in Australia with American actress Marlo performing with the OUTBACK SHOW. She and agent/fiance Adam , work and live with the show. From Queensland billionaire cattle rancher Jack. Jack and Marlo meet. They start to help each other out with all their problems obstacles hurdles feelings and relationship between them. I love and recommend this book to everyone 😆 😙 The storyline and characters are brilliant exquisitely well written and story is drama rom-com adventure emotional rollar coaster hot streamy explosives sex and captivating.
This is a fantastic second chance book that you won't what to miss. Right from the start it grabs you and it keeps your attention right until the last page. This book is well written and reads real smoothly This author really knows how to get you attention right from the start. Do yourself a favour a grab this one.
I really enjoyed this romance novel, which I found to be well written. The Author provided a romantic imagery of the Australian outback, whilst recognising the hard work necessary in the outback, she provided a good contrast to the busyness of city life. The plot dealt with some challenging issues, including love, betrayal, fear, heath issues and abuse of power. It is a powerful novel which essentially explores the situations that the main characters Marlo, Jack and Adam find themselves in, and the choices they feel forced to make, even when that means great sacrifice to themselves. I will say no more as I don’t want to ruin the read for you, except that I would not hesitate to give this book a 5 star review and recommend it.
