A North Korean missile launch. A naval base attacked. Does the nation face a new menace? Or is an old one taking a treacherous turn? A plot to destroy any possibility for peace moves into high gear just as the president negotiates an end to war in the Middle East. When Fritz returns from a trip through the portal, the world around him seems to have changed. His portal through space and time has proved a powerful tool. But entering it risks undeniable dangers. Even successful missions leave a trail of death. But despite the peril, he is resolved to use it to end the threat and capture the conspirators. But who are they? What do they want? Does a traitor stalk the president? Once again, Fritz Russell finds his life upended. Bombs slam the White House and wreck the Oval Office. Suspicious killings continue. Information about a secretive cabal emerges. The portal might provide the only means of stopping resurgent violence in Manhattan, Washington, and around the world. Fritz, his wife Linda, and friends Ashley Gilbert and Major Jane Barclay confront great danger as a new storm of evil imperils the globe. Determined to end the disruption to order, the men and women of Riverboro courageously use the portal to help the president bring light to the darkness of world politics.
Michael R. Stern is the Amazon best selling author of "Reflections on a Generous Generation", and "Storm Portal."
His newest release, Shadow Storm, book 3 of the Quantum Touch series, tells the story of a history teacher, whose classroom door is a portal to the past and a tunnel through the present.
Michael is a history lover. His future writing, both non-fiction and fiction, will offer perspectives on the way the past threads to the present and future, and why our past provides the guidance to understand and plan for the world we inhabit together.
Michael grew up in Garden City, New York, is a graduate of Cornell University, and now lives outside Philadelphia with his family. After a long career in business, he has begun a writing adventure.
In Storm Unleashed, the 4th book of the Quantum Touch time travel series written by Michael R. Stern, Fritz and his wife are new parents, but the world is getting far more dangerous. More than a handful of people know about his time travel portal, and they are curious to use it. The President of the United States must call upon him once again to help save the world. This time, there were casualties I hadn't expected. No one is safe!
Weaving in a plot focused on the Middle East, the crew looks to find a solution that will meet expectations of Israelis, Palestinians, and other countries in the region. Other world superpowers attempt to help, but someone is playing both sides. Is it an enemy close to the US team, or has a new party inserted themselves unexpectedly? If you enjoy learning about history and the current state of the world, plus you have an interest in politics (not excessive), you will find yourself drawn to the contemporary realities with a twist.
Fritz is a hero. His wife wants to support him, but the danger is growing. His best friend, Ashley, is considering marrying Jane, a government agent working for the POTUS. But Fritz's high school principal and other colleagues must be part of the solution when the portal is involved. How can they travel back in time to find a way to win the war? Appearances by Putin make the book even more realistic, and the tragedy and bonds of friendship among many characters bring a fine balance of emotion and humor. Stern knows how to toss out a bombshell and pull it back in at the right time... readers will enjoy the forethought and interesting relationships that grow during the tumult.
Looking forward to reading the 5th book later this month. Only 6 in the series, so I should finish it up by the holidays this year!
This offering is full of action and outshines the previous books by far.
One of the things I like best about this author's work is, even though there is lots of action and danger, it's not the overly in-your-face, graphic violence so many authors feel is necessary. The characters are believable, and they evolve with the story in a way that is true to their nature and the circumstances they are faced with.
I especially liked the increased focus on the point of view of the antagonist and the way the author doles out just enough information from that POV to build suspense without giving away too much.
Every aspect of this offering is a solid five star effort.
Has everyone turns their backs to Fritz because of his control of the portal? It seems that way at the end of book 4. Is Jane really dead as Ash has been told? Are Linda and son gone for good? Book 4 ends with new mysteries that rivals the mystery of the portal itself. Book 4 is a good read, but it seems that the portal was overused and overshadowed relationships with Fritz so much that the ending with Linda and her parents and Ashley seemed out of place.
It seems to me this story gets better with each extension. This tale is an outgrowth of all the previous three books. It extends and grows the tension of a government and a President, being under attack from the shadows. The metaphor is clear, the mental comparison easily conjured as to the critics and haters of the admin of Barack Obama. The characters are somewhat the same, with additions, the problems are more difficult, the dangers more extensive. Well done Michael Stern. I look forward to the next in the series.
"Storm Unleashed" (Quantum Touch Book 4) has plot twists and history brought to life. Jane is a great, intense character as she tries to unravel the plots to blow things up. Who is the mysterious spider in the middle of the secret, deadly terrorist web? What is their goal?
The school history tournament is fun; it’s a nice counterpoint to the increasing dangers. Questions are infused with connections between inventions, history, and politics. I also appreciate the humor. As the group falls silent, Fritz thinks: “If silence is golden, this is Fort Knox.” This ending is more intense and complex, leading into the next book in this series. Well written!
This was another great in the series, it was at times emotionally charged and draining! The book left me wanting more, let's hope the next one is as enjoyable! Oh yeah I'm starting the next read right now!
