What a fantastic conclusion to Ms. Lace’s Heart series! I can always count on Lolah to bring the humor, drama and the out of this world chemistry to her stories and characters. This series unfolds likes a not to be missed soap opera. I will be honest and state that Antonio has got to be one of my least favorite heroes in all of Ms. Lace’s writings thus far. He brought out so much strong emotion from me that this is just a testament to how good of an author Ms. Lace truly is. I always love a happy ending, and was very pleased ***SPOILER ALERT*** when Kelby disconnected her brain from her heart and decided to move forward with her life. My prayers were also answered after learning that “Tonio” finally made an investment towards himself and their relationship by going to therapy. After all of the drama and angst of this story, I am forever a fan of Ms. Lace’s because she has a take no prisoner’s attitude towards subject matter and her characters. There is “realness” to her writing style that helps me to connect more to her characters. I highly recommend this read and all other works by Ms. Lace.
Loved these two....sexy, funny, crazy....Antonio made want to choke him at times but I can understand why Kelby always gave in the him...dude was hot!!!!
Great ending to this series. I will admit Lolah took me by surprise with what happened to Antonio, but I enjoyed it. The 2 MC's went through a lot but I was glad she made Antonio grow up. He drove me crazy with his antics but in the end it all worked out.
Loved it! A great 5 star read. A smooth flowing story; packed with suspense and intrigue. Gear up for a hot, steamy and dramatic roller coaster ride. This was quite a page turner and I was able to read it in one sitting. I would totally recommend this book.
So I have been trying to figure out what to say about this book for days. To be honest this is the first multicultural romance I've read that had me feeling some kind of way and not in a good way. The series is about a young Black woman named Kelby who falls on hard times and must make a hard decision that goes against her morals. In the process she meets Tonio, who she falls in love with. My big issue with this story is how the Tonio character treats and talks to Kelby during the whole series he calls her "Black Whore" or "Black Bitch" whenever he's mad at her. This dude consistently treats her like trash and a hoe even up to the end of the series. While he constantly refers to her race he also won't claim his own child in public and has his black brother act as the child's father when around others. He consistently puts his hands on her in all three books. This dude came off as controlling, cruel and abusive, if I had a girlfriend or family member who was in this type of relationship I would tell her to run. This is honestly the first romance where I didn't believe the two characters would have a happily ever after. I'm a big fan of this author but the verbal and physical abuse was too much for me.
I awaited this last instalment with bated breath and let me tell you, it.did. not.disappoint!!! This last book ticked every sinle one of my boxes and I can confirm I'm a very, very happy camper because once again, Ms Lace has brought it.
Tonio and Kelby's story concludes in this explosive last book, yet another winner for Ms Lace. The story opens with a dramatic turn of events which had me gripped from start to finish. The book picks up where Tonio is leaving Kelby's house for what was to be the last time, as he headed towards his wedding to movie starlet, Cinnah. I could never in a million years have foreseen the series of events that ensue from that point on!!!
For me personally, what then happens to Tonio is like the universe aligning perfectly to serve Tonio his just desserts. I'm not ashamed to admit I took pervese pleasure in seeing Tonio brought to heel, something that may very well have knocked some sense into him as far as Kelby's concerned.
What I really enjoyed was seeing Kelby finally grow some balls and really sock it to Tonio. I prayed for Kelby to make Tonio sweat and grovel, and boy did she just!! The tables turned so that we also saw a (slightly) different Tonio, as he fought to win over Kelby. I like that the author did not water down Tonio's character to the point where we didn't recognise him as we often see in this genre i.e callous, sefish playboy suddenly gets a personality transplant and becomes a sweet, docile man type scenario.
Oh no, arrogant, sexy and selfish Tonio remains at the very core of this new version Tonio. But what made him sexier for me personally, is that he allowed himself to be vulnerable in his new relationship with Kelby. Taking all this into account, I finally felt he deserved Kelby, that they both deserved to be together. I just felt sorry for Kelby's childhood sweetheart because he seemed like a decent guy. -and oh yea, that's another thing I liked about this book, the fact that Ms Lace did not malign the black dude, I thought that made a fantastic and refreshing change.
