PTSD threatens to destroy a Marine’s promising future at Trident Security…
POW First Sergeant Logan Reese is rescued in Afghanistan just hours before he meets the same fate as his murdered teammates. The aftermath of the mission gone wrong forces his retirement from the military much sooner than planned. He didn’t expect a civilian job offer that could give him a new purpose in life or to meet someone who could make him feel like a virile man again.
Officer Dakota Swift has worked hard to prove she belongs with the big boys on Tampa PD, but it hasn’t been easy. A local serial killer gives her the opportunity to get her feet wet in undercover work—as bait. But when she’s assigned to the joint task force between TPD, the FBI, and Trident Security, she doesn’t expect to be attracted to her handsome new partner, Logan.
Until the identity of the “Kink Killer” is discovered, no woman in the alternative-lifestyle community is safe. With the body count rising, will he be caught before he claims his next victim?

Samantha Cole continues the wonderful Trident Security legacy with our first Omega team story and our hunky pow veteran Logan " Cowboy" Reese. Could you start as a new reader at this point, well yes Ms Cole always does a fabulous job of given character bios and back story, with that said why would you want to miss one bit of this series? My recommendation if you are new Go back to book one "Leather and Lace"; and enjoy all these hunky Dom's! Logan is a new member to Trident's Omega Team, one who Ian Sawyer has been waiting to join the team till his separation of service, but on Logan's last mission with the Raiders he and his team are captured and tortured and Logan having witnessed the majority of his team, including his best freind tortured , whipped and murdered viciously is suffering From PTSD. Logan has been avoiding signing his Trident contract, which basically causes Ian to show up in Washington and push a face to face and last ditch effort to secure Logan for the team and Ian's word will be the start of multiple driving forces to help him on his way back from the dead.
"You survived, Marine, when your teammates didn’t. Had the situation been reversed, and you were dead, while one of them came home, would you want them sulking on your grave, or would you tell them to man the fuck up? There’s so much good you could be doing on my team. But if having your own fucking pity party for the rest of your life is what you want to do, so be it.” With that said Ian issues an ultimatum, meet him in two hours and sign on the dotted line or consider the position offer revoked. "His buddies were gone, but he had the opportunity to continue the fight in their honor. He imagined they would be telling him to man the fuck up, just as Sawyer had, instead of rolling over and waiting for the day he would take his last breath. Up until now, he’d just been a dead man with a pulse; it was time to change that." Needless to say, our " Cowboy " makes the right decision, which leads him to Tampa and Trident's campus and home of the Sawyer brothers elite BDSM club " The Covenant" and smack in the middle of working an operation to capture the " kink killer" ; a serial killer with a passion for torturing to death submissives from multiple Tampa area clubs.
The operation to catch the killer finds him paired with Dakota Swift a Tampa Pd officer who has applied multiple times for the special-ops division , but finally gets her chance after being denied several times when they need her for this op. They need someone familiar with the BDSM world, a submissive. However Dakota takes extensive measures to hide that she is a submissive from work and her family so the fact that the new Captain of special ops knows is disturbing, until he outs himself. Dakota is paired with Logan , who is going to play her Dom and having to take lessons to pull it off; these two have an instant chemistry that has Logan embracing and enjoying the BDSM world, and every day with Dakota is another day he relishes, even if it is time spent stealing out BDSM clubs and observing suspects trying to catch this killer before he racks up another victim. I could go on and on, but I will not spoil anymore of the story. Want to knowing they catch the killer? Want to know if Logan keeps getting better ? Want to know if these two go this separate way ? Do they finally catch the Kink Killer or will we have to wait for yet another book. Pick up this fabulous read and find out! Arc copy supplied by Ms Cole in exchange for an honest review!
Clues as to whom the Kink Killer are spread throughout her Trident Series and into her Trident/Omega Series Crossover book Mountain Of Evil, and FINALLY we find out who it is! A Dead Man's Pulse would be an okay starting point for those who haven't read Samantha A Cole's other works, but it is definitely best enjoyed if you begin with Leather & Lace, Trident Security Series Book 1.
The Trident & Omega Team's family gets slightly larger through the introduction of two engaging characters, Logan Reese and Dakota Swift. The chemistry between these two is perfect and it quickly becomes apparent that they're practically soul mates!
Be forewarned though this story does have some moments that will most likely be difficult to read through, but these are necessary insights into Logan's character.
A heartfelt look at the toll PTSD has on a person’s life and the road to recovery. Everything about this book was great; flow, character dynamic and storyline. This book had a little of everything suspense, emotional ups and downs, sensuality between H/h and the characters we have all come to love.
Logan “Cowboy” Reese is a deadman with a pulse and his new job with Trident Security is a lifeline he is grabbing onto with both hands. Mix in a new job, a new town and a serial killer and you get one hell of a great read.
Dakota Swift is still trying to prove herself to her co-workers and father. She wants to work undercover and keeps getting turned down and her frustration is mounting. When a chance to join the task force looking for the Kink Killer presents itself she jumps at the chance.
After Logan and Dakota become partners on the task force things heat up both on and off the job. The killer is upping his game and Logan is fighting for his sanity while Dakota is fighting to prove herself.
For those who are fans of Samantha's, this book has been long waited for. We finally find out who the Kink Killer is!
First though, lets get to the story. I hurt so bad for Logan. Being a prisoner of war and hearing and watching his buddies get tortured and then murdered would break anyone. And it almost did break Logan. Enter Ian Sawyer! He sees something in Logan and wants him on his team to catch the Kink Killer. After agreeing to Ian's terms, Logan is paired up with Dakota, a police officer who is also a submissive. Time becomes of the essence as another submissive goes missing. Fighting their attraction for each other, when they fall, they fall hard. Misunderstandings, drama, mystery add to the danger and when the killer sets his sights on Dakota, it's an all out push to figure this out. When the missing submissive shows up, having escaped with her life, but in a coma, the team waits to see if she knows anything. Will they find out who is killing submissives? Will Logan be able to save Dakota from the killers grasp? I cried, laughed, got pissed off and was basically blown away with this story. It's a keeper and one I will read over and over!!
A Dead Mans Pulse (Trident Omega Team Book 1) Samantha Cole 5 stars
So first and foremost it makes me giddy to see book 1. This means we are on a journey of more to come. Second bringing awareness to PTSD and prisoners of war -- hell yes. Third a new pup named Fubar -- damn right. Brilliant name choice by the way.
The title is a sad yet real description of a man who survived while his brothers didn't. War is a bastard. Its the devil wrapped in a nice bow with a one way ticket to hell (and that's my description from having a husband who served 22 years in SO). Logan Cowboy Reese is a man looking to suppress those demons. A Trident in hand might just help him slay the beast.
Dakota Swift is still trying to prove herself to her co-workers and father. A chance to join the elite forces to catch a killer is the perfect way to do this. Throwing herself undercover is the only way to go to show that she can and will get the sick f**k who is murdering the ladies from the clubs.
Things will explode along the way with many fighting to stay alive. Enjoy the ride, embrace the moments that are reality and turn to page one. We cant say much more because the details are not only alluring but heart pounding to say the least. Nothing needs to be compromised or given away in the review.
Don't miss the original series from Samantha. You don't need to read it to understand what is going on in this release but missing them is like missing cake on your birthday friends! Thank you for the ARC and the chance to read. LOVE THIS ONE. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
This is the start of the Trident Security Omega Team series. It is advised to first read the Trident Security series in order to avoid spoilers. If not, this book can be read as a standalone novel.
Logan AKA Cowboy is immediately attracted to Dakota. She is not impressed with him when they first meet, as he assumes she needs his help - but she can take care of herself. He meets her again later and the sparks fly all over the room. Now he just hopes he can impress her enough that she gives him a chance.
Dakota is a police officer who is always trying to prove herself in a man's world. With all the odds stacked against her, she wishes for greater things. When it turns out a killer has her in his sights, she is going to need all the help she can get.
Amazing and riveting conclusion of the mystery killer from many books before in the previous series. Introducing the new Omega Team series, where the members are new and very hot. This story has so much heat and such a compelling mystery, the pages nearly singe the reader.
***This early copy was given in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book by samantha A cole . It had me so intrigued i could hardly put the book down. Well obviously as ive just finished it and its 3am lol. Logan and dakotas story was heartbreaking. My god reading what logan went through as a POW. Broke my heart and i could never in my life imagine what hell our service men and women go through while fighting for our country over sea's. . But this book was great i was shocked to find out who the murderer was. Like seriously didn't see that coming at all. But i loved this series ive read every book and i hope there is more. Tiny needs a book i think. Lol. But seriously this series is awesome. I love samanthas knowledge of law enforcement and marines /army . As well as what to expect and how to treat PTSD . And as well as knowledge on guns and therapy dogs. I highly recommend this book series. Its so hot it sizzles right off the page.
oh my!!! wow what a fantastic read. I'm a huge fan of this series so this book has been eagerly anticipated. Logan Reese 'Cowboy' has survived an horrific time as a POW narrowly missing being tortured to death, unlike his teammates who weren't so lucky, Cowboy was rescued but suffers from severe PTSD. His life changes when the Sawyer brothers offer him a job at Trident Security. Omega team is being formed and Logan's an important part of the team, especially as the Kink Killer is still at large. Enter Dakota Swift TPD police officer, she's fighting to get into SOD. She's offered the chance to help catch this killer. so they go undercover to draw him out. Fireworks spark once they meet and of course the drama and intrigue continues. What happens next will keep you on your toes the whole way through from start to finish. Our beloved cast of characters make an appearance and keep you entertained. This is a must read book for all TS fans.
What happens when a killer is terrorizing the community that the Sexy-6-pack loves to play in? Samantha Cole has dropped hints throughout her Trident Series and her spin-off on the Omega team but now we find out just who it is but not before we meet Logan, a Marine who survived when his team didn't and lives with it every day. His first assignment is to partner up with the sassy and snarky Tampa PD officer. Yes, familiar faces (and abs) show up. Yes there is some pantymeltingohmygodyouneedacoldshower chemistry that just goes hand in hand with whip training, a dog named Fubar, a psycho, and a man who deserves to know he is a hero. Get your tissues, be prepared to laugh, cry, and sigh. Once again Samantha keeps you on the edge. Time to fall down that rabbit hole.
Finally, the conclusion to the kink killer! I think Samantha is an amazing suspense writer, she kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat until the very end! Incredibly complex storyline, twisting and turning with an always amazing cast of characters. Absolutely loved the faithful portrayal of Cowboy, and all he endured and continues to suffer with PTSD. Dakota was a strong, independent woman unashamed of being submissive. The character of Charlie really got to me, for being so adorable and for what he meant to Logan. The only thing that bothered me was the relationship between Logan and Dakota, I didn't expect it to be the main storyline but it felt more like an afterthought. They took such a backseat to the background, overall story arc, and other characters (all of which were amazing) that when their relationship was portrayed, it felt rushed. It's probably just my own feeling, as Samantha is a brilliant author and still one of my favorites.
My jaw is on the floor and tears are streaming down my face. This book pulled at my heartstrings, made me anxious, and have me on the edge of my seat. I look forward to reading more in this series.
I received a copy of this book from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.
Samantha Cole has the ability to combine elements of military and police special operations and private investigation with BDSM romance and pull off an intriguing mix of mystery, thriller, and romance all while holding the reader riveted and enthralled. A Dead Man's Pulse is the first full-length novel in Ms. Cole's The Omega Team series, a spin-off series from her original Trident Security series. While each of the books and novellas in both series can be read as standalone books, I really do recommend that you start with the first book in the Trident Security series (Leather & Lace) and read them all in order. That way you won't miss any of the backstories or the character development which is so integral to the entire series. It will also give a significant amount of background and character development for this particular novel.
Logan "Cowboy" Reese is a former Marine Corps Forces Special Operation Command (MARSOC) Raider who served in Afghanistan and was a POW. He's literally been through hell and survived but it was far from easy. With everything that's happened and what he's still dealing with, he's beyond shocked and surprised when Ian "Boss-Man" Sawyer invites him to join the Omega Team of Trident Security. After a lot of soul searching and self-doubt on his part, he finally accepts. He's got a lot of issues and isn't sure he'll fit in but he'll give it his best shot. Dakota Swift is a member of the Tampa Police Department (TPD). She's been trying to transfer from the Patrol Division to the Special Ops Division (SOD) for what seems like forever. She has an outstanding record with commendations and awards. But every time an opening occurs, she's not even considered. She's never known why and has almost given up. But the new captain of SOD calls her in to meet on a very special ongoing case involving not just the TPD but the FBI and Trident Security as well. As she gets the details of the case, she's knows she's the perfect fit and jumps at the chance to participate.
Part of the operation is for Dakota and her new temporary partner to go undercover as a D/s couple in one of the local BDSM clubs. Fortunately, Dakota is already a member of the lifestyle and is well-acquainted with what it will take to pull this off. But when she learns she's partnered with Logan, things have a very rocky start. Logan knows nearly nothing about BDSM and has to learn from the ground up. The operation they're part of isn't just dangerous. It's deadly. Can Logan overcome his past to become a convincing Dom? Will the contentious beginning of the partnership between Dakota and Logan derail the mission before it ever gets off the ground? There's a learning curve for Logan that could put both in extreme danger. The twists, turns, totally unexpected revelations, and potential romance for more than a single couple are a complete roller coaster ride of emotions of all types. All of Ms. Cole's fans who've read the Trident Security books and the prequel novella to the Omega Team series (Mountain of Evil) have been waiting for this book. It's full of tension, anticipation, and fraught with danger, breathtaking and death-defying moments, as well as BDSM erotic romance that will take your breath away.
One final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains some violence, explicit language, and BDSM-themed sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, think hard before buying any book you know you won't enjoy. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and all booksellers' websites. USE THESE RESOURCES. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. IT'S NOT FAIR TO THE AUTHOR! She works extremely hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to the book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
I give A Dead Man's Pulse my highest recommendation without reservation. Thank you, Samantha Cole, for once again giving us such a wonderful book that shows your hard work, your mastery of the genre, and your extreme writing talent! Kudos for such a remarkable book! Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
Samantha A Cole’s A Dead Man's Pulse is the first novel in her new Omega team series, a spin-off from The Trident Security Series and the sexy six-pack!
Ian and Devon Sawyer are putting the finishing touches on their new “Omega” team so they can expand their current caseload. When they offer Logan Reese a job as part of the new team, it gives the former marine a reason to hope that he once again can have a purpose in life, as he really hasn’t been living since being rescued just hours before he was murdered by insurgents in Afghanistan, a fate the rest of his teammates suffered.
Dakota Swift is an officer of the Tampa Bay Police Department. She has a spotless service record, but can’t seem to get assigned to the Special Operations Division. When a joint task force between the police, FBI and Trident Security is formed to hunt down the Kink Killer, a serial killer targeting submissive women in the area, Dakota is given an opportunity to be part of the undercover teams casing the local BDSM clubs. Knowing this is the career opportunity that may finally get her noticed she readily agrees. What she didn’t count on was her attraction to her new partner, Logan Reese.
As the body count continues to climb as more submissives are tortured and killed, the team must do everything they can to track down and find the Kink Killer before someone from their BDSM club the Covenant falls victim to the madman.
Samantha A. Cole did an amazing job in creating a new cast of characters for the Omega Team that can stand on their own to headline the new series, but also fit in with the original Trident Team members that readers know and love. While this book could be read as a standalone, reading the prior series is recommended as readers have been tracking clues to the Kink Killer’s identity for quite some time now.
Logan’s background is truly heart-breaking. No person should have to endure the things that he did for his country. Samantha did a masterful job of portraying the daily issues someone with severe PTSD deals with, from survivor’s guilt, to flashbacks triggered by unexpected sounds or smells and more. I love that a chance encounter with someone unexpected at Arlington National Cemetery profoundly affects Logan’s outlook on life.
Dakota, while a sexual submissive, is a bad-ass police officer. She is a great mix of strength, intelligence, caring and sass and ends up being the perfect match to Logan in every way, as both partners on the task force as well as in a relationship. Their relationship is pure magic.
As for the Kink Killer, Samantha keeps readers guessing right until the end about both the chances of survival for the latest victim and well as the killer’s identity. The plot is action packed and comes to a very satisfying conclusion for fans and readers of Samantha’s work.
A Dead Man’s Pulse was a highly anticipated read for me, and it delivered on every level, including a heat level that I’ve come to know and love throughout Samantha A. Cole’s books. 5 stars from a very excited reader glad to see the Omega Team off to a successful start!
A Dead Man’s Pulse Trident Security Omega Team book 1 Samantha A Cole Author review 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 thank God Stars.
This is it... This is the one with all the answers. If you haven’t read and followed the Trident story, where the hell have you been? Stop reading this review right now and go one click Leather & Lace (book 1) if you have been on the Trident roller-coaster welcome to that heart dropping moment when you think you have it sussed, but nope not before BOOM the kink killer is outed!
Along with the Kink killer terrorising and murdering submissives, we welcome another to the Trident fold. Marine Fist Sargent Logan (Cowboy ) Reece has been discharged and returns into civilian life suffering severe PTSD. As a prisoner in Afghanistan, Logan struggles with day to day life, memories and nightmares plague his days and nights. So when he is offered a role in the Omega team from Trident Security, Logan discovers that he might just have a future. Sawyer and Devon have the push and the know how to attempt to control his past while looking forward to the future.
Officer Dakota Swift, has constantly had to prove herself, as a child of the police force, her father forever pits her down, and the force itself is a huge wall that constantly blocks her. As a closet submissive, Dakota uses her dominant side on the job, but enjoys what BDSM can give her. With the opportunity to join the Feds to catch the Kink Killer, as a submissive with a Dominant – Dakota will need to be in her feet. Logan (Cowboy ) Reece is about to push her buttons, but as always in Samantha’s books it is hot, steaming, sexual and full of character.
Together Logan will face his past using Dom training, and a stunning gorgeous who has his male bits waking up in a way they haven’t in a very long time. With a torturous past, it is that fear that he will use to find a solution. With that solution will bring a relationship that he didn’t see coming but cannot avoid, and doesn’t want to avoid. Logan sees Dakota as his submissive in the club, in his mind and forever in his life. This woman has become his saviour, one he’s not letting go again. But will the Kink Killer take away another person from Logan’s life? Or will he be able to save the women from the man I didn’t see coming.
In an incredibly well written script Samantha has put much thought and study into the solution. I have followed all of her stories, yet this one really struck me. I loved it, thanks Samantha.
Military, Law enforcement/ Fire officers as well as many agency staff put their lives on the line every single day that they serve, most hopefully live through and for the most part enjoy their chosen career, but there are also many that don't. Some are killed in action, some injured and for those, many it is life changing. For others it is more of a mind injury a result of things they have seen, heard or experienced, maybe being captured and tortured or form an extreme fire with massive loss of life. Lots of reasons and causes but it doesn't make it any easier for those that live with PSTD, so many different triggers can set it off. Samantha has written an incredibly powerful and sensitive story that covers just a small bit about this subject. Written in a way any one of us can get an understanding of what it is like and how it can affect those struggling with it, also a possible way to help get a little control back. The build up from previous books to finding the Dom serial killer hits its peak and I have to say "awesome job Samantha" she kept me guessing to the end. I loved Logan and Dakota, they seem quite evenly matched in all ways. Logan especially took my heart I guess mostly because he was still fighting and willing to try anything that may help make life just a little easier to deal with, but even then still wanting to honour his buddies. I look forward to getting more of both of them in future books. Plenty of suspense and tension plus the dealing with the PTSD helps to keep your heart racing and you sitting on the edge of your seat. Some very serious issues dealt with in this story but we do also get glimpses of humour here and there. I am in awe that this author still manages to out do each book, I keep thinking each will just not be as good as the last, but each time she proves me wrong. Not only is each as good as the last but they are even better. I feel blessed and privileged to read her stories, the Trident and Omega series are definitely my favourites. I see another big hit with this one, fantastic read.
A Dead Man's Pulse is Samantha Cole's latest release in her Trident Security series. Each book can be read as a standalone but reading the whole series gives you added insight & background. The Kink Killer is a plot line that has been ongoing in the background of several of the books but it all comes to a head in this one.
First Sergeant Logan Reese survived a brutal attack & torture that left only one other person from his team alive. After they were rescued, Logan had severe PTSD & survivor's guilt & was not receiving the kind of therapy he needed to get past it. He was acting as if he had died along with his colleagues. Ian Sawyer tracked him down & forced him to face facts & offered him a job with Trident Security.
Dakota Swift is an officer with the Tampa Police Department. She's been trying to transfer to the Special Operations Division for years but keeps getting turned down. She isn't sure if her father, a former police officer, has blacklisted her or if someone else has it in for her. With a new Captain in charge of the unit, she finds herself assigned to help with the Kink Killer case & is told she is up for the next open position in the department. She's asked to help with the case because she is a practicing sub in the BDSM community. When she's partnered with Logan, the chemistry is hot & intense.
This book is unreal! I couldn't guess who the killer was! Ms. Cole has a background in police work which helps her to set the scene perfectly. Her characters are well developed & realistic. They are endowed with characteristics that are relatable & engage the reader's sympathies & emotions. There are some graphic scenes & violence but only what was needed to set the atmosphere. The plot moves at a decent pace with the danger & violence increasing as the tension rises. There are some sexual scenes but they are part of the plot rather than included for shock value. This was a riveting tale that I couldn't put down until it was finished.
A Dead Man’s Pulse Trident Security Omega Team Book 1 By Samantha A. Cole Narrated by Gunner Qualen and Jenna St Claire
Spicy and suspenseful, what is not to love about Samantha A Cole's new spinoff Trident security series? This has all the things I love included in the story. A great plot, fantastic characters, twists and turns and chemistry that is off the charts. Featuring Logan Reese, better known as Cowboy, Cole gives us his back story. A Marine who suffered with his teammates, comes home with PTSD. But his skills are top notch and he is recruited by Ian to work for Trident. Unsure of his capabilities now, Ian forces his hand and now he is partnered with Dakota Swift to capture the Kinky Killer. Swift is a cop, always striving to prove her worth and now with this case, she may just make her mark. The instant attraction and explosive chemistry is off the charts and drives the romance to incredible heights. The two are undercover as a dom/sub to flush out the serial killer. But who can it be? They have no idea, but the numbers keep rising. Cole writes with an amazing compassion for veterans. She never sugar coats, and lets us feel the pain suffered both physically and mentally by our soldiers and it makes me thankful for every one of them. She also delivers a thrilling suspense that made me cringe, kept me guessing and gave such satisfaction at the result that it just makes me want to hear another of her stories. And the romance...what a connection! Loved every minute. Every book is a new adventure, yet keeps a community of characters that I have come to love. Can't wait to hear more of this new team!
Gunner Qualen and Jenna St Claire are a favorite narration team of mine, and when I hear them, I know it's going to be good. But I have to say this one is their best. The story flows, and they fit their characters perfectly. I think the story was written with their voices in mind. Qualen brings out the pain Logan has, but at the same time never lets that alpha tone go. It's exactly how I imagine him. St Claire creates Dakota with a fierceness that shows her strength but adds that softness with her sub side. Perfect. I loved this performance!
Oh wow, Samantha’s best book to date. What a heart stopping read this was, I have never wanted to skip pages so bad to see where the story was going but I held off and was taken on one hell of a roller coaster ride.
The book starts with Logan in captivity. Hearing his team mates being tortured to death and witnessing the aftermath. Thankfully, Logon gets rescued but part of him is still left in that cell and he isn’t sure he can ever really get over the hell.
Living like a dead man, with nothing to live for, Logan is surprised to get a visit and job offer from Trident Security. After making the decision that he needs to start living for those who died, Logan makes it his mission to start over.
Dakota has been trying to get promoted for years but is always turned down for the position. When she also gets a job offer to help find the ‘Kink Killer’ she jumps at the chance to prove herself.
With Dakota being a submissive and attending BDSM clubs she is perfect to go undercover but Logan has never entertained the idea of being a Dom so having to be trained up as one in order not to blow their cover was intriguing to read and reading how that helped in was actually quite heart felt.
So much thought went in to this book. When the killer strikes again you can feel the excruciating pain though the pages, you are transported in their world and are captivated by everything that is going on and fearing all involved.
A Dead Man’s Pulse was just everything you would expect from a Samantha A Cole book. With was deep, thrilling, witty, heart pounding and hot as hell. What is not to love about all of that?!
I highly recommend anything from this author and to get the full impact of these books, I recommend you start from the beginning of the Trident Security series.
Samantha A Cole introduced us to the hot, sexy, and dominant Alpha’s of Trident Security’s Alpha Team, and it’s been quite the amazing ride. The Sawyer brother’s have amassed an elite team of ex-military and ex-police members that do everything from protect princesses, to thwart members of ISIS. But their latest job hits them close to home. Ian Sawyer has recruited Marine and ex-POW Logan ‘Cowboy’ Reese as a member of the newly formed Omega team for Trident. Provided he get his ‘self’ together including his PTSD. Losing all of his teammates but one has made survivor’s guilt strong, not to mention a whole new meaning of the term ‘War is H**l.’ But with a great therapist and some help from a 6 year old, he finally joins the team.
Dakota Swift keeps getting passed over for special ops in the Tampa Police Department and she knows it’s because of her father. The ex-cop has never approved of her being on the force, but one day she’s called up by the new commander of the SOD team for a special assignment, help Trident Security take down the Kink Killer. A dom who has been kidnapping subs and whipping them to death. After a failed pairing with another agent, she’s paired up with ‘Cowboy’.
This is the book lots of Trident fans have been waiting for. I know I have! The Kink Killer has been at it for quite a while, and a few doms have come up as suspects. I will say I spent quite a long time trying to figure out who the killer was, and boy, I was far off the mark. I loved watching how the dommes helped Logan deal with his PTSD (Jake too!) And the relationship between Logan and Dakota, (Ok, I wasn’t crazy over the nickname he gave her.) was wonderful to watch as it grew! Just a fantastic book in the Trident series, but not surprising knowing Samantha’s talent!
Samantha has done it again!!! She has written one hell of a masterpiece. ( 👈 That doesn't surprise me though. Every book she has written is brilliant. ) Sam's writing is always very well researched and carefully written. She gives her characters real life instances. For example, PTSD rears its ugly head in ADMP. There is some parts of this book that can be difficult to read. But it is necessary in order to understand Logan.
Logan Reese is asked to join the team of brothers. A team who sticks togethor and has each others six 24/7. Would Logan fit in? While in the Marine Corp, Logan was captured and held against his will, along with his brothers. Upon returning to civilian life, he now suffers from PTSD. With the help from his new family and the beautiful Dakota Swift, is he able to find his "home" with his new team and lady?
Officer D Swift works at the local police deptartment. She is female who is striving and working towards a better position at work. After being passed up several times, she starts to give up. Not soon after, she is asked to help catch the person who is killing submissives from other BDSM clubs. Working with men has always been the norm for her, but she wasn't prepared to come face to face with Logan aka Cowboy.
Together, they battle their demons ugly heads. Together they are fearless. Logan and Dakota have become one of my favorite couples from any of Sam's books. Their chemistry is so off the charts hot and steamy.
And yes, you find out who the killer is. But first enjoy the hell out of this book. I know I sure did. ADMP deserves way more than 5 stars!!!!! 100 stars for me..
Logan Reese is a former POW who has PTSD that includes flashbacks. What he lived through is absolutely gut wrenching. He is now working for Trident Security.
Police officer Dakota Swift has been trying to the Special Operations Division and has pretty much decided to go a different direction after being passed over so many times. She accepts an assignment to work with the joint task force that includes TPD, FBI and Trident Security to finally locate and discover and take down the serial killer "Kink Killer". A serial killer that is targeting submissives who are involved in the BDSM lifestyle.
Logan and Dakota go undercover as Dom and Sub. What I really liked about this book is we follow along with Logan who has absolutely no experience or knowledge of the BDSM lifestyle and we learn along with him.
Logan and Dakota's attraction is instant and builds as the story goes along. The sex scences are sizzling.
The serial killer has been active in several books and the anticipation of who this killer might be has been driving me crazy.
I don't think I have ever had an author that writing seems to get better with each book like Samantha's does. She has an amazing way of writing that pulls the reader right into the story.
Build up of suspense, intrigue in this book is unbelievable. It gets very intense. I seriously could not put this book down. I was at the edge of my seat when the sub escaped the killer. I felt like I was looking behind her to see if he was coming after her. I was also yelling at Logan to hurry back to Dakota's to save her.
Was the killer who I thought it was...no. I was completely surprised.
I was Absolutely blown away by this book. Ms. Cole’s books never disappoint readers, as her style of bring together suspense, romance and “the lifestyle”, are truly amazing. But A Dead Man’s Pulse was all that and so much more. The storyline will grab you by the heartstrings and refuse to let go. It deals with a former POW who is now home and dealing with PTSD and flashbacks after living through the tortured deaths of his teammates as well as his struggles with his current career on the Omega Team with Trident Security.
His current mission has him partnered with a female police officer, Dakota, in hopes of finding the Kink Killer before another submissive is brutally murdered. Both Logan and Dakota have personal issues they are dealing and have no desire for a personal relationship at this time. Yet the instant attraction between the two of them is off the charts and hard to deny even with everything going on in both their private worlds. Can they put their problems aside to help determine who the killer is and stop him in time or will more lives be lost? Will Logan and Dakota find some type of common ground or take the easy road and dismiss one another?
This story is heartwarming and so well written that I have highly recommended it to everyone I can. It goes without saying all the Trident Security and their spinoff books are one of my all time favorite series, however this book ranks among one of my favorites within this phenomenal group of books. I give it a very Hardy 2 Thumbs Up and suggest one clicking it asap. You won’t regret it.
Ridiculously fantastic book!! Samantha Cole has done it again; she's written a book that is deeply engaging, raw and gritty while delivering a powerful message - this one focusing on the sacrifices of our first-responders, military and LEO alike and PTSD.
Logan "Cowboy" Reese is a dead man walking. He may have physically survived the war but his mind is tortured by his time spent in an Afghani hellhole and his return to the world without his team. Despite his belief that noone would ever see beyond his troubled mind, when Ian Sawyer tracks him down and issues an ultimatum, he's unable to walk away.
Dakota Swift has a dream to work undercover within the Tampa Police Department but despite her stellar work and exemplary file, she keeps getting passed over. As a female police officer, she's constantly having to prove herself to her colleagues and even to her own father, a gloried police officer from years past. She's about ready to give up when an opportunity to go undercover to help catch the "Kink Killer" falls into her lap.
I loved everything about this book!! Logan and Dakota are like gasoline and matches and they're on fire right from the start. I loved these two together! The unique therapy employed to help deal with Logan's PTSD was handled expertly and with utmost sensitivity.
This book has everything; tons of emotions (I totally cried), humor, intrigue, 5 alarm fire hotness and completely unique! Plus, we finally learn the identity of the serial killer!
A DEAD MAN’S PULSE is the first book in The Omega Team’s series, a spin-off of the Trident Security Series. I would recommend reading books 1-7 in the TS Series before picking this one up, just so that you will know the other characters who appear.
The best stories have two lines of action. In this one, we are getting to know “Cowboy” and Dakota. That is the romance and it is hot. It is sexy. It is about learning to trust. The second story is about that killer. The Kink Killer has been plaguing the BDSM community in and around Central Florida for several books now. This is the book where he becomes the focus of investigation. They catch the killer and you are not going to believe who it is! Definitely worth the read.
I’m going to point out that I live in Central Florida and I know some of the people in “the community.” I was reading descriptions with an eye towards identifying the clubs. I’m stumped – dammit! All kidding aside – Samantha Cole writes both romance and suspense with a realism that is unmatched. When she offers a book, I set everything else aside to read it.
Note: while I was given this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: A DEAD MAN'S PULSE Series: Trident Security, Omega Team #1 Category /Genre: Romantic Suspense Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: ungraded – book received as an unedited ARC / errors excused Received from: Samantha Cole (as an ARC gifted copy)
This was an extremely enjoyable story. That had me hooked from the very start. Even though there wasn't as much action or suspense as some of the previous books in this series. But what there was did keep my attention. Especially during the last few chapters. When the "Kink Killer" is revealed. As those few chapters really had me on the edge of my seat. Although I was a little disappointed with who the killer was. Only because I was expecting it to be someone more prominent to the story and honestly I didn't know who the character was or remember them. Even though I'm sure they've made appearances in the series before.
As for the two main characters Logan and Dakota. I really liked them both and thought they were perfect for each other. And I enjoyed the relationship that developed between them. I also found the PTSD storyline very interesting to read and thought it was well written and very believable.
It was also great to catch up with the members of Trident, including the newer ones from team Omega. And I'm looking forward to reading more of their stories in the future. As for A Dead Man's Pulse I would happily recommend it to others. Especially if you are a fan of this series.
Logan "Cowboy" Reese was saved minutes before he was thought he would be killed by his captors. He comes home a broken man. He is living one day at time and trying to figure out what to do now. Ian Sawyer wants Logan for his Omega Team for Trident He is used to getting what he wants. He convinces Logan to join the team.
Dakota Swift is a police officer for Tampa PD. She wants more and when she is presented with the opportunity to join the task force searching for the "Kink Killer" she takes it. She is ready to show everyone that she can do any job she is given. She wasn't counting on Logan Reese.
From the minute these two lay eyes on each other the sparks fly and when they are paired as partners for the task force, Dakota is afraid she is going to break her rule about sleeping with her partners. Logan is determined to make sure she does.
When the killer turns his attention to Dakota, can the task force apprehend him before he takes one more person from Cowboy....
I loved this book. It probably one of top 3 faves in this series. Pick them all up because you are going to want to get to know all they alpha males of Trident Security, not just Logan.
I was given a copy of this book by the Author for an honest review.
A Dead Man's Pulse: Trident Security Omega Team Book 1 is a HOT, SENSUAL read! Logan is one of two survivors of the insurgents in Afghanistan. Now he has to learn how to live again, and cope with his PTSD. He takes a job with Trident Security and is paired with Officer Dakota Swift of the Tampa PD. Looking at Dakota, He feels a spark of life coming back. Dakota loves the BDSM lifestyle. She is a submissive and likes when someone takes care of her, and not be on her guard showing how tough and capable like she does on the force. Logan learns the lifestyle to make his pairing up with Dakota seem as real as if they were together for real. There is instant chemistry between these two, and when they do get together the sex is explosive!. Samantha A. Cole is a true master of the writing craft. I have not been disappointed with her books to date. I recommend this book and the others to everyone. I give A DEAD MAN'S PULSE 5/5 STARS.
I had been waiting with bated breath for this release and it absolutely did not disappoint. While I have really enjoyed everything I have read by Samantha A. Cole, this one has to be my favorite. Cowboy and Koko are so fantastic together. I'm a sucker for the damaged alpha male who needs that piece he didn't know was missing and is found in a strong, fantastic female. This book has all of that and so much more. I also really loved that Dakota has been in the lifestyle for a good while but Logan is just being introduced to it. Makes for some really interesting dynamics and fantastic interactions. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and absolutely loved every single moment (word) of it. And okay, I was completely wrong about who the Kink Killer was but it was still a satisfying conclusion to that story arc -- now I need to go back and reread to find all the clues I missed. You need to add this to your TBR pile or like me, jump it to the front.
Truly suspenseful with amazing romance. Finally, we find out who the Kink Killer is and boy I did not see that coming. With true Samantha A. Cole style, she rights another romance that makes you wish these boys of Omega Team and the rest of Trident Security Team were yours. There is definitely no way that I could choose but I must say Logan stole my heart with all he has to overcome and the fact that he feels he could never settle down because of the trauma he has been through. However, he finds his new partner Dakota irresistible and she just may be strong enough to break through his barriers and help him to deal with his PTSD. When they meet he may think she needs his help but she may be exactly what he needs. I love that all of the men take care of their women but also they are there for each other. They are a band of brothers that have created a loving family that they can depend on.
