She's falling for one of Nocturne Falls' resident gargoyles: the tall, muscled, and sexy Elias Saunders.
But when Elias comes to her after being attacked, she has to put aside her attraction for him. What looks like a small mark on his left forearm is more than just a mark. His skin is turning to stone - and it's spreading.
Sophie enlists the help of an old family friend, and joins Elias on a desperate quest to find out what's happened to him, and how to stop it, before he becomes a statue. Permanently.

I approached this novel with an open mind. It took some effort as I did not the author's first NFU novel The Witch Rescues Her Werewolf. And was I pleasantly surprised! There were still some minor discrepancies but nothing worth mentioning, because the story was great and it was well written. And there is a promise of continuation and also a hint of where it might go. It feels like the author is making her own part of Nocturne Falls with her own characters, here and there featuring the original characters, and it functions successfully. Author is expanding on the previous story, as the main character Elias, the gargoyle, is a friend and neighbour of a character from the previous novel Lidia, the witch without powers. Unlike Harrison, Eli is actually quite lovable. And Doc Sophie Mead is a kickass heroine who saves her man. I see a trend here and I don't dislike it. As in previous novel, Sophie is lacking supernatural power. She is a child of two powerful supernaturals who are disappointed in her. But just like Lidia, she is drawing on her willpower and strong personality, even more in this case, as Sophie is an accomplished doctor, healing humans and supernaturals alike. Both Eli and Sophie and well developed and complex. Their chemistry is of the charts. We meet an array of new characters, and I am guessing that Jack and Tammy are coming back in the next novel. Charles is lovely and I hope he comes back as well. Unfortunately, the rest of the characters we meet for a short time, so there was no time for more complex development, however, unlike the last time, this time, I am actually very much looking forward to the next Cate Dean's NFU novel. The Nocturne Falls reading order is: The Vampire's Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls #1), The Werewolf Meets His Match (Nocturne Falls #2), The Gargoyle Gets His Girl (Nocturne Falls, #3), The Professor Woos The Witch (Nocturne Falls, #4), and The Witch’s Halloween Hero (Nocturne Falls #4.5) in Spell of the Ball Anthology, The Werewolf's Christmas Wish (Nocturne Falls #4.6) in Hex the Halls Anthology, The Vampire’s Fake Fiancée (Nocturne Falls #5), A Vampire's Valentine Surprise (Nocturne Falls #5.5), Miss Frost Solves A Cold Case : A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #1), The Shifter Romances The Writer (Nocturne Falls #6), Miss Frost Ices The Imp : A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #2), The Vampire’s True Love Trials (Nocturne Falls #6.5) in Taming the Vampire collection, Miss Frost Saves The Sandman : A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #3), The Dragon Finds Forever (Nocturne Falls #7), and ever growing series of Nocturne Universe Novels, which surpassed fifteen by now. Great world to get yourself immersed in.
I enjoyed The Doctor Falls For Her Gargoyle very much. The mystery was clever, I had suspicions and got it eventually right, much to my pleasure. The plot is great, it keeps you guessing and had me engaged. The characters are well done, Dean blends new ones with the ones with already know with ease. In fact this novella fits perfectly into Painters series, so much so it's uncanny. Really well done character building and interesting world building make this a great addition. My only little issue however was the romance, there is this slow build-up. Well they kinda pine- which I loved - but then all over sudden we are an item and love declarations... It was too much of a jump from one to the next. It makes the story feel rushed. Pity.
I really enjoyed this story set in the Nocturne Falls Universe. This story quickly grabbed my attention and had me wanting to know what was going to happen next. I really liked the characters, they were fun, interesting and easily likable. There is even a hint at what is to come in a future story and I can't wait to read it.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher, my review has been voluntarily submitted. .
2022 bk 248. The people of Nocturne Falls are back - well those of Cate Dean's imagination. In this, Elias the gargoyle who does carpentry and handyman jobs for the community is attacked and stabbed. The new doctor in town who has a secret crush on him as to deal with her emotion and ethics as she seeks to heal and find a resolution for the poison that was on the knife. An enjoyable story.
Absolutely fantastic story and as always your pulled straight in and again I was very moved by this story heartbreaking and heartwarming aswell as adventure and beating foes love it, thank you Cate for Writing it xx
Another fun addition to the Nocturne Falls world. I love gargoyle stories, and Eli and Sophie were perfect, both together and separately. Recommended for a quick, fun read!
From the Kindle World of Kristen Painter, this is a story that takes place in Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween year round so that paranormals can live openly.
Instant engagement. I liked the characters immediately and felt their pain, empathy and embarrassment. Yes, very average and standard feelings everyone shares at times. These are not the perfect people. It's the working class. And it's us.
Minor detail. A lot of interaction with Lidia, the neighbor that's not wholly explained. To read more of that background, read The Witch Rescues Her Werewolf, which is Cate Dean's first Nocturne Falls Universe kindle world book.
Excerpt: “She glanced up at him—and her heart skipped. With his dark blonde hair falling over one eye, and the sheepish grin, he looked like an oversized teenager. A gorgeous, incredibly sexy, oversized teenager. “I need to know everything in order to help you. Got it?” “Got it, Doc. Is the lecture over?” Humor edged the question, so she knew he was teasing her. “For now. Go and make an appointment.” “Thank you.” He paused next to her, and laid one hand on her shoulder. “I mean it. I’ve been more than a little freaked since this happened.” “I can imagine.” She sounded remarkably normal, considering her heart threatened to pound right out of her chest. Endless seconds later, Elias let go of her and walked out. Sophie managed to make it to the chair next to the door before her knees gave out on her. “Heaven help me,” she whispered. Her hands shook as she lowered his file to her lap. She had an idea that any contact might affect her; she had not been prepared for the absolute need that roared through her the moment his hand touched her shoulder. How was she supposed to function around him, when he set her off with a simple touch?” Excerpt From: Dean, Cate. “The Doctor Falls For Her Gargoyle.” Pentam Press
This is a great book; this book is part of the Nocturne Falls Universe and is written by Cate Dean. The Nocturne Falls series is written by Kristen Painter and I was so happy that these new books by new authors were asked to write a story in the town. Nocturne Falls is a town that celebrates Halloween every day of the year and also a place that paranormal’s can live and not have to hide what they really are. Dr. Sophie Mead is falling for one of Nocturne Falls' resident gargoyles: the tall, muscled, and sexy Elias Saunders. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Cate's second foray into Nocturne Falls 'The Doctor Falls for Her Gargoyle' was cute, but I feel that she seems to keep away from involving the residents of Nocturne Falls and when she does they seem a little stiff and formal instead of relaxed and human (well ok Super Natural) and easy to relate to... I enjoyed the story, but I think with this book especially there is too much traveling and not enough Nocturne Falls. There are some characters she'd brought in previously that I feel she could have brought back for appearances in this book, and just a little interaction with her previous characters which I feel that given one of them lives across the street from our male protagonist should have shown up a little more.
Those feelings aside, I really enjoyed this book. It was a lot of fun. I am giving this book 4.5 stars *rounding up to 5* as I felt I wanted more in Nocturne Falls and out of the interactions. I felt the story fit well into Nocturne Falls and brought much to the town. None of the characters seemed out of place, just as I said more formal like you really don't know them and only have a quick peek at meeting them.
Charming, brisk paced, this story has compelling chemistry between the leads and it is nice to have a plot premised on the vulnerability of the hero from the beginning. The secondary characters though are where this story shines, from the platonically loving neighbor of Elias to the paternally loving non-family of Sophie’s. However, author Dean opens doors shining an interesting light on to a backstory of her father’s long power struggle with more noble witches and then drops the thread. Is it a set up for future stories focusing on the Mead family or will she leave these interesting possibilities dropped? I hope not. This future story has huge potential as a rival family to the Ellingham’s and a rival town or community to Halloween town, a kind of shadow version. Overall, Dean has a keen eye for psychologically realistic details in her characters’ behaviors that lend a depth to what could otherwise be a quick skid across the romantic surface. And her integration of Nocturne Falls characters is seamless and comforting to this NF fan.
I love reading about Gargoyles! This latest read from Cate Dean in the Nocturne Falls Series had me engrossed from the beginning. If you read her prior NFU novel, "The Witch Rescues Her Werewolf," then you will know the background when Eli talks about Lidia and Harrison. I found myself wanting to go back to re-read the first book just to refresh myself on that story as their relationship is enchanting. This story is about Sophie, a doctor that can treat both humans and supernaturals (a rarity) and Eli, a Gargoyle quickly turning to stone unprovoked with no apparent cure in site. the story races to find a way to find a cure for Eli before he completely turns to stone. This story had some interesting twists and turns. The time flew by as I read it. Definitely recommend this to anyone!
Cate Dean has added a second story to the Nocturne Falls Universe and it is great! Doctor Sophie moved to Nocturne Falls after a lifetime of never being able to please her parents. She also has a huge crush on gargoyle handyman Eli. When Eli comes to consult the doctor over an odd mark on his arm, she has to hang on to her emotions. The mark is a mystery that requires searching for answers in some difficult places. Besides the main characters, the story also includes characters from her first NFU book, giving a stronger sense of continuity.
Now, I really like this book. Sophie was a daughter of supernatural parents, yet had no superpower. She’s an ‘ordinary’ accomplished woman, just like any woman could be. Elias was, clearly, a supernatural. Something wrong with him, clinically. Sophie rushed to help him, drew all the help she could get to cure Elias.
I love the characters, I love their interaction, I love the mystery. Basically, I love this book. ‘Nuf said.
I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.
This is a fun story with the usual cast of unusual characters. The Hero is a gargoyle and the Heroine is a witch with no talent, except for her human skills as a doctor. When the gargoyle is attacked and suffers from a hex placed on him, she steps in to save him. Nice to see the woman save the man for a change. It's not a very long book but it was a nice romance with enough thrills to keep you reading. This has some kissing but isn't filled with porn, so it's ok for young readers also.
I am a dedicated fan of Nocturne Falls and as such really feel protective over the "flavor" of that world. Therefore, I am happy to say that Cate Dean stays in the fold yet clearly offers her own voice to the mix. I really enjoyed this book. It had some suspense, some courage, some love, some struggle, and some HEA. The story also included familiar characters from Nocturne Falls which made me just plain happy!
Another successful HEA in the NFU. For those not in the "know", that means happily-ever-after and Nocturne Falls Universe. You know the best ever fictional town that we all want to move to, live in and bask in all its supernatural glory. Cate does a great job in adding more characters and stories to the NFU. Enjoy!
5 stars all the way. This story is about Sophie, the resident doctor for the supernatural population in Nocturne Falls and Elias, a gargoyle. When Elias gets cursed, Sophie does everything she can to help him, proceeding to fall for him during the process. With action, twists, and romance, this novel has the whole package.
In the continuing tale of Nocturne Falls, Nocturne Falls Universe brings in more characters and their stories. You'll still keep in touch with the original characters while learning more about its citizens. The writing is witty, intelligent and paints a picture of just what the author intended all wrapped up in a Happily Ever After.
This is a book in Kristen Painters Nocturne Falls Universe. I've enjoyed all these different authors take on Nocturne Falls. This was another great one. I loved all the characters. The hero and heroine were wonderful,
An enjoyable enough Nocturne Falls Universe Story with two likeable central characters in Dr Sophie Mead and Elias Saunders (the Doctor and Gargoyle of the title!). Nicely written by Cate Dean and easy to read this tale centres on the central character's dysfunctional families and sibling revenge.

Dr. Sophie Mead, and Elias, a gargoyle are enamored with one another. Secretly, or course. Until an attack on Elias sends him to see Sophie and she's going to do all she can to save him. Wonderful fun read!!!!!
It was a very interesting but too short story. The characters were nice but underdeveloped. More background for the doctor and Eli. It almost like a rush to the finish line. Normally I love Cate Dean's books but this left me feeling like something was missing.
I love Sofie & Eli's story! I wish there were more to it, but it played out very nicely and used previously introduced characters as well! I look forward to more from this author!
Another amazing story made by Cate Dean for the Nocturne Falls Universe. I can't wait for more. I loved the characters, the action, and the romance. Eli & the Doc are so adorable together.
Like all the NFU I've read so far, it's easy to read, a little too fast-paced, sweet, cute, with endearing heroes and a very caricatural villain. Here, the hero is a gargoyle, and I appreciated that. Not much more to tell, but it's one of my favourites so far.
Like Nocturne Falls stories! Like the interaction and development of the characters, sometimes they feel a bit short but they are effective. More meat iin the story would be good!
Sweet, full of magical medicine and facing family drama. It was fast paced but not overwhelming with some characters that hook you and drag you into the story. I fully enjoyed it and really hope there is a third story to come.
Kristen Painter realized that so man people loved the town of Nocturne Falls that she created a great place where lots of different authors could write short romantic stories about people in Nocturne Falls called A Nocturne Falls Universe. This is one of those books that I was happy to read.
Very much in the vain of how a nocturnal falls short story should be😏 she was sweet and stubborn, he was funny and protective. I feel like I need to re read that first witch saves her werewolf story.
Two young loves both from homes where they never quite measured up. Tossed into a whirlwind of life and death. Racing against time and unbeknownst to them racing right towards each other...
