#001 Bibbia: Mi piace che la prima storia sia dal punto di vista di Hide. Mentre nel manga vediamo quello che succede al presente e vediamo lo svolgimento dell'azione qui è Hide che ci racconta le cose. Prima di leggere la prima storia bisogna leggere un paio di volumi almeno. L'incontro e quello che succede con Rize e anche l'incontro con Nishio e un certo . Dopo questo primo pezzo la vicenda si svolge a parte ovviamente ma agli inizi del manga.
Abbiamo l'introduzione anche di tre personaggi che non compaiono nel manga Kiyama, Sanko e Caino. Trovo che sia bello introdurre nuovi personaggi che si legano con i vecchi e in questo caso con Hide per indagare .
Non mi aspettavo che Caino ma quando .
Comunque la storia è bella e Hide, che poi io adoro, dimostra davvero la sua intelligenza. Grande mossa.
#002 Bentō: Questa storia si intreccia con la precedente. Le protagoniste sono Tōka e Yoriko. Ma vedremo anche Caino . Nonostante tutto direi di leggere fino al fatto, non voglio spoilerare, con Kureo Mado perchè viene citato inizialmente e in più a pagina 54 se non avete letto quella parte vi beccato uno spoilerazzo rovina tutto. Nessun problema per me che ho già letto tutto Tokyo Ghoul e anche :RE. Come dicevo sopra forse non ricorderò piccoli particolari ma la questione Mado ovviamente si. E come potrei il contrario essendo anche fan di Amon.
Comunque a un certo punto Mayuhara è diventato Shinohara. All'inizio pensavo fosse una delle altre due rompi ma essendo costantemente citata Mayuhara e Shinohara devono essere la stessa persona. Le altre due sono comparse. Ho usato wikia ed è Mayuhara senza cognome. Ho scritto anche Shinohara ma viene fuori il colombo come ben ricordavo e sua figlia . Ho preso anche il kanji Mayu e ho cercato per vedere se si leggeva Shino. Non si legge Shino. Non posso sapere se c'erano i furigana e l'autore ha forzato la lettura diversa. In quel caso sarebbe colpa sua. In caso contrario del traduttore. Perchè in stampa qualcuno ha battuto due volte V invece di mettere IV quindi il pensiero sulla distrazione viene a galla.
Comunque nonostante gli errori è bellissima anche questa.
#003 Fotografia/ピント (Pinto): Questa mi ricordo che è anche un OVA. Nell'OVA però non mi piaceva come era disegnato Shū Tsukiyama rispetto alla serie regolare.
Adoro i sentimenti contrastanti del mio Shū. Si, ho detto il mio Shū. 💖 (Prima lo detestavo ma poi mi sono innamorata di lui)

Comunque Chie è proprio un animaletto domestico che torna utile al momento giusto.
#004 Tōkyō: La vita di un giovane ghoul che lascia casa sua per andare a vivere a Tōkyō nella circoscrizione venti. La dura vita di vivere tra gli umani e come gli umani. Ma bisogna anche procurarsi il cibo e cosa c'è di meglio .
Al terzo capitolo, e adoro tutto questo, si va a intersecare con la prima storia. Ovviamente quello che si siede è Hide. Comunque avevo pensato . (Sono abituata a questo con Durarara!!)
Ovviamente non può mancare l'incontro e scontro con uno Shū .
E alla fine l'unica salvezza per un ghoul è sempre l'Anteiku. E sicuramente Ikuma e Ken sono simili.
Comunque nel manga non lo ricordo. In :RE ovviamente leggendo Wikia. Però non avendo letto questa novel prima per me era un ghoul come un altro. Di quelli che non ti ricordi il nome. A differenza di Chie Hori che mentre finivo di leggere :RE ho visto i due OVA, Jack e Pinto, e quindi l'ho notata subito nel manga.
#005 Segnalibro: Questa si svolge dopo la fine della prima .
Ma alla fine Sanko .
Comunque è il racconto dell'esperienza della piccola Hinami in biblioteca e l'incontro

La storia avviene prima di tutto questo. Ma sarà perchè un ghoul da poco che la sua storia non ha nemmeno un numero.

Due to my prior foray into the world of spin-off light novels not being a very enjoyable one, I was extremely wary going into this. Luckily, I didn’t have to be! This book was absolutely fantastic.
I think what didn't work for me with Kuroko no Basuke -Replace- (the previous light novel I’ve read) was that it seemed a bit pointless. It might as well have been a collection of five fanfictions, because they didn't really actually add anything to the existing story, provide new insight, or anything like that. That definitely compromised my enjoyment of it, but it was even worse because it wasn't like the stories were at least also entertaining or enjoyable on their own (with the exception being the first story).
Days on the other hand provided insight into the lives of the other characters that we weren't able to see due to the main story focusing on Kaneki and his troubles so much. This doesn't just feel like fanfic because it actually added to the series in a meaningful way and provided new information. It was also really cool and useful seeing what goes on inside of the other character's heads, and how they perceive Kaneki. It was also extremely satisfying how all of the stories in Days were connected in some way, which created a unity that really brought the book together as a whole. Each of the stories were also very enjoyable and could stand strong on their own.
The only thing that bothered me was something that is annoyingly prevalent in a LOT of anime and manga: Pitting women against each other. There are a lot of series wherein the main girl character will have one girl best friend, but then every other girl is evil and against them. Not cool. So it was pretty disappointing to see this being done in one of the stories here as well. This didn’t bother me so much that I would knock off a star off my rating or anything, but it is definitely something I didn’t appreciate.
Other than that, like I’ve already said, this was a great read. I was worried it would end up being boring, unenjoyable, and useless like Replace was, but it was absolutely not. I one hundred per cent recommend it to people who are fans of the main series. It would also probably be interesting to people who have never heard of the series, though it might be a bit confusing because they didn’t put much emphasis on the world-building in this novel. It also definitely helps to already have knowledge about the timeline. But still. Good stuff.

Dari kalimat itu, hubungan ghoul dengan manusia terdengar seperti predator dan mangsanya, tetapi banyak sisi lain yang bisa ditemui dalam hubungan ghoul dan manusia. Bukti nyatanya adalah Ken Kaneki, manusia yang menjadi ghoul karena mendapat transplantasi organ setelah kecelakaan yang mengancam nyawanya. Kaneki berusaha keras untuk mencari keseimbangan di antara dua dunia: dunia manusia dan ghoul.
Jika di komiknya Ken Kaneki menjadi tokoh utama, dalam buku ini tokoh-tokoh figuran mendapatkan kesempatan untuk tampil. Dalam buku yang berisi enam cerita pendek ini, Shin Towada menceritakan sisi lain dari hubungan ghoul dan manusia yang hidup berdampingan di Tokyo. Hubungan mereka sangat kompleks karena ghoul harus menyembunyikan identitas mereka atau mereka akan diburu oleh CCG--Commission of Counter Ghoul.
Buku ini dibuka dengan cerpen 'The Bible' mengenai Hide, sahabat Kaneki yang sengaja melibatkan diri dalam Klub Peneliti Okultisme karena mereka mencurigai Kaneki sebagai ghoul. Hide harus memutuskan apakah dia akan melindungi atau mengungkap rahasia sahabatnya itu.
Cerpen lain yang menjadi favorit adalah 'Lunch Boxes' (Bekal Makan Siang) tentang Toka dan sahabatnya, Yoriko, yang sempat bertengkar namun kemudian berbaikan lagi: sederhana, tetapi dipaparkan dengan menarik dan terasa hidup.
Namun, karena Tokyo adalah kota berbahaya, tidak selamanya mereka mengalami kehidupan yang tenang dan damai. Ada cerita yang disisipi pembunuhan dan adegan yang kurang cocok untuk anak di bawah umur (komiknya sendiri diberi rating 21+ oleh m&c).
Novel ini dimaksudkan untuk menjadi pelengkap bagi komik Tokyo Ghoul, jadi aku belum bisa merekomendasikannya untuk pembaca awam, meskipun tidak sulit untuk mengenal tokoh-tokohnya, apalagi di halaman depan disediakan biodata singkat mereka.

Found it boring, had to force myself to finish it. There were some good moments, I liked Tsukiyama's story, and that's it. It could be because it's been too long since I've read the manga and don't remember the characters well enough to care about them. But it still felt so pointless. Anyways, I'll probably re-read the manga before reading the rest of the novels.

The first of a series of companion light novels for the Tokyo Ghoul manga! This volume has six short stories about some of the other main characters in this series, as well as a few new minor ones, giving us a glimpse of what happens in between the main storyline. My favorite thing about this book was finally getting inside the heads of some of my favorite characters including Touka and Hide! This was definitely enjoyable and I honestly can't wait to read the next one!

This is my very first ever light novel! It is divided into 6 individual short stories which take place either in Ken's first months of being a ghoul or in the past, pre-Ken. There are a variety of stories, comedy, horror, character studies and friendship stories. There are two "themes" which give the stories a small but interconnecting string between them all. The main one being that each story has a scene taking place in the Ghoul Cafe "Anteiku", sometimes it's just one scene, or a few and one story does feature it. Secondly is the rumour of the presence of "suspicious characters" lurking about the Ward. This means many things to each person thinking about it. They all wonder to some degree whether the "person" they encountered was the "suspicious characters". A nice set of stories which really made me feel pulled into the Tokyo Ghoul world much better than from just reading the manga. Altogether the stories average out to making this volume a firm 4.5/5. Good stuff!
1. The Bible: Starts the same as the manga series. The time now is shortly after Ken came out of the hospital and had recovered. Ken is the star of the manga series but in this first short story, he appears only in the opening and closing scenes. The main character of this story is "Hide", Ken's best friend. Hide gets involved with the school's Occult Research Club when they question him about Ken. Does he ever really eat? Hide doesn't know Ken is a ghoul but to prove his friend's innocence he joins the team following Ken to find out if he eats human food. Hide and the other two classmates get caught up in a trap set for them by a real ghoul. Very enjoyable. (5/5)
2. Lunch Boxes: - This is a sweet story. It starts off by subtly letting us know this story takes place during the first story. The main characters are Touka, a girl ghoul posing as human in a school and her best friend, a human. Ken plays a minor part by being in the cafe with Touka and being someone she can talk to. The two girls have a misunderstanding and their friendship is at stake until Ken teaches Touka a bit more about human characteristics. (3/5)
3. Photos - Ah, my favourite so far. This one is a horror story featuring the ghoul called "The Gourmet" The Gourmet is the narrator of this story and he begins by telling us the story he is relating happened two years before the start of the manga series. The Gourmet one night finds himself being photographed mid-feat, just as he's starting to chew on the legs of a jogger he has just killed. The rest of the story tells of the beginning relationship between Gourmet and the photography student from his high school, Chiehori. (5/5)
4. The Big City - The main character in this story is a ghoul who moves to Tokyo from the country hoping to enjoy life just playing his guitar, singing and writing music. But this ghoul is different having been raised by humans he only eats meat from the dead. This is the story of his rocky start in the city and eventually meeting other ghouls, and especially Ken whom he feels an affinity to through their shared humanness. Really enjoyed it. (4/5)
5. The Bookmark - This takes place "a few weeks" after the first story. Hinami is a little orphaned ghoul living with Touka. Ken is worried about her because she never leaves the house and thinks she must have more mental stimulation. So they take up going to the library where Hinami makes a friend and falls in love wth reading, then her life is threatened. Really enjoyed this one. (5/5)
6. Yoshida - A nice to story to end with. Yoshida had an encounter in either V1 or V2 of the manga but this is his life story focussing mostly on one event. Yoshida is extremely unlucky. He works out at the gym and has a hottie body but as they say "too bad about the face". We see his life's bad luck in action as he befriends a little shy girl and ends up being taken to the cleaners. A good character piece. (5/5)

This was my first time reading a light novel for a manga series and I quite enjoyed it ! I always assumed light novels were just retellings of the manga, but the Tokyo ghoul light novels are original stories happening alongside or before the main story.
It was cool to explore other characters other than Kaneki and get a glimpse as to how they think and feel. My fave chapters were the ones centred around Hide and Ikuma.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the writing to be honest, it kinda seemed basic, but it didn’t mind it too much because I was enjoying the content of the stories a lot.
If you’re a fan of Tokyo Ghoul then the light novels are definitely worth a read. I plan on reading the others eventually myself.

L'obra està bé en termes generals, peca de banal i segurament només convencerà als fans més dedicats. Al cap i a la fi és contingut canònic i sempre entra bé quan t'agrada la saga.
Ara bé, coses que no m'agraden: l'estil de narració, a vegades sembla gairebé dedicat a públic infantil per la forma com t'explica les coses que van passant, tampoc l'estil de diàlegs, que és molt estrany, no hi ha diàlegs com a tal, només textos entre cometes que corresponen als diàlegs però no tenen els típics apunts de qui l'ha parlat i com ho ha fet, cosa que li dóna un estil narratiu poc directe.

Com a conclusió, costa enganxar-se a l'obra i només la recomanaria si n'ets un gran fan, d'altra manera probablement et quedaràs a mitges.
Ara bé, coses que no m'agraden: l'estil de narració, a vegades sembla gairebé dedicat a públic infantil per la forma com t'explica les coses que van passant, tampoc l'estil de diàlegs, que és molt estrany, no hi ha diàlegs com a tal, només textos entre cometes que corresponen als diàlegs però no tenen els típics apunts de qui l'ha parlat i com ho ha fet, cosa que li dóna un estil narratiu poc directe.

Aku penikmat Tokyo Ghoul. Sebenarnya waktu mulai nonton ini tuh agak telat. Season 1 udah selesai dan aku tau TG ini dari parodi openingnya di Youtube. Trus suka sama ostny, dn mulai nonton TG di kelas zaman2 SMA dulu. Waktu masuk season 2, tiap jumat subuh aku download episode baru dan tiap jumat pagi pas jumat taqwa aku nonton di mesjid. Saking tergila-gila nya. Sampe sekarang masih jatuh cibta dan ga ngerti gimana berhentiinya. Walau animenya agak mengecewakan tapi original storynya slalu nyenengin. Manganya brilian, Light Novelnya? Menyenangkan. Ada cerita yang tidak ada di manga dan hal ini tetap bikin betah. Ah, andai aku ada di dalam dunia Tokyo Ghoul...

Quando era stato pubblicato l'anime di Tokyo Ghoul, mi ero innamorata! Poi ho scoperto anche il manga, e mi ero innamorata di nuovo. Qualche settimana fa ho scoperto anche questa novella basata sull'anime ed ero pronta a innamorarmi di nuovo, ma mi sono ricreduta. Una lettura estremamente noiosa, con errori di battitura, con storielle che potevano essere interessanti per i fan della serie, ma che sono solo un modo di farti spendere soldi a nome di una serie amata da molti. Un vero peccato!

První česky vydaná light novel nezklamala (snad jich bude víc!). Sbírka šesti příběhů různých postav ze světa TG. Mým favoritem je bezesporu Tsukiyama a Chie, protože prostě ňuňu... Jediná škoda, že jsou ta jména tak počeštěna. Jako chápu proč, ale bije to strašně do očí :( (můj nebohý Cukijama).

Tokyo Ghoul Days ini adalah Light Novel yang menurut saya keren. Dilengkapi dengan ilustrasi yang bagus, book jacket yang desainnya kece abis, dan juga disertakan deskripsi karakter di awal halaman buku.
LN ini terdiri dari 6 bab. 6 cerpen dari perspektif yang berbeda dari tokoh yang berbeda. Yang membuat saya suka dengan narasinya adalah, di sini tidak hanya membahas tentang si tokoh utama (Ken Kaneki) terus menerus. Di sini, beberapa tokoh figuran yang ada di anime maupun manga juga diangkat sebagai tokoh utama dalam tiap cerpen masing-masing. Bab favorit saya adalah The Bible, dengan sudut pandang Nagachika Hideyoshi (sahabat Ken Kaneki). Perasaan para tokoh tersampaikan dengan baik, ditambah dengan ilustrasi yang mendukung.

This was okay.
As a huge fan of Tokyo Ghoul manga, I was happy to see the characters again and learn more about them. However, as a piece of literature, Tokyo Ghoul:Days is rather mediocre, the writing is bland and simplistic, some comments has rubbed me the wrong way.
#1 The Bible.
Centered around Hide and it's my favorite novella in the bindup. Hide is a good guy and amazing friend.
#2 Lunch Boxes.
About Touka and her human friend Yoriko. Rather moving story.
#3 Photos
About Tsukiyama and him meeting Hori. There's an anime adaptation (ova) of this novella. I watched anime last year and I like both versions of this story. Tsukiyama is very entertaining character to read about.
#4 The Big City
About aspiring musician ghoul Ikuma moving to Tokyo. Quite lovely. I wonder if he was in the original manga. I don't remember him.

I've been noticing the Tokyo Ghoul manga for a while in libraries' shelves because the covers are gorgeous, but it's only after my sister got interested in it and started buying them that I got to read it (first season a couple of months ago, still waiting to read the second season).
I can't really attest to where this stands on its own as I'm reading these light novels after reading the manga, so really, I'm reading these as part of the Tokyo Ghoul universe. The characters we meet in the stories are quickly (re)introduced at the beginning of the book, but there's nothing about what's been going on in the main manga, so the non-initiated might be a bit lost sometimes. I'd say you can probably still enjoy the stories on their own, though not as much as someone who already knows (and is already attached to) the characters.
Now, as an addition to the main manga series, I absolutely loved it! Basically I always enjoy side stories because they give an insight into how the events can affect "regular" people who aren't the focus of the main material. In particular, I find this one to be greatly built as it focuses on relationships between ghouls and humans, and especially how they try to maintain these. (Something which, in the manga, is addressed -through Ken Kaneki mostly- but often pushed aside to make place for fights between ghouls and CCG investigators.) Also, the few illustrations included in each story were neatly picked (either key points of the story or endearing moments).
Side note: The illustrations included at the beginning (and for the cover) are stunning!
The one other point worth mentioning (for me) is how the stories intersect with one another. Each story is build as a standalone, but they cross one another when you least expect it, and that's a nice way to tie them together. I like how it shows that people you seemingly have no link with whatsoever can still impact on your life.
There's one thing that really bothered me though. I don't know if it's only the translation I have, but the narration switching from first to third person at random for a chapter or so felt very unnecessary to me. I don't see the point, and it was always throwing me off for a minute.
Quick breakdown story by story.
1- The Bible: The main appeal to me was that it's focused on Hide, Ken's friend, whose resourcefulness (that's a word, right?) was shown a bit in the manga and is here the main point of the story. Now, for the plot itself with the Occultism Club thing, etc. etc. is a bit over the top in my opinion. But at least, it's throwing us straight back into the ghouls world.
2- Lunch Boxes: Parallel to Ken & Hide's friendship, we now face Toka & Yoriko's friendship. Once again, it was already shown in the manga, but it's great to have a deeper insight of Toka's side of it. I liked how it shows how Toka who has been a ghoul her whole life sees things differently from Ken who's had a human life before being a ghoul, especially when it comes to human friendship. ()
3- Photos: From what I've read, this is the actual introduction of Chie Hori in the Tokyo Ghoul universe? The main reason for me enjoying this particular story is that it's about Shu Tsukiyama (aka. the Gourmet), which is a character that I've loved since the manga because he always makes for priceless interaction with... pretty much everyone he ever meets. And it didn't fail here. Otherwise, I guess it's a cute introduction of Hori's character.
4- The Big City: I was really surprised to realize that I loved this story. I wasn't expecting much of it since the focus is a character that I don't think we heard of in the manga? But this gives yet another side of those born as ghouls. Ikuma a such a sweet character, you can't help wishing he can find a way to overcome everything thrown his way and find some happiness. ()
5- The Bookmark: It's hard to pick a favorite story since I basically enjoyed them all, but this one hit close to home because it's based on the characters' love for books, and how it brought them together. You may think it's a repeat with yet again another human befriending a ghoul, but having a kid point of view is most definitely different. If anything, it further shows that hatred towards diversity is not innate but taught.
Extra- Yoshida: The story was kinda... not so interesting to me, but I really enjoyed the moral of it. ()
I'm off to read 東京喰種―トーキョーグール― 空白 / Tokyo Ghoul: Void now, and should follow up with a review of it by the end of the day.

I really enjoyed it since it’s like mini stories into a novel and some are really interesting and shows you more of the characters than the manga/anime shows you. I only recommend it to those who know of Tokyo Ghoul tho so you can understand the stories more and who the characters are.

I read the book Tokyo Ghoul [Days] on a paper copy. I chose this book while browsing through the manga section in Barnes and Nobles. It caught my eye so I grabbed it and read the short summary on the back. It turned out to seem very interesting so I decided to purchase it as my second book for my goodreads assignments. This book falls in the manga and horror fiction genre. The main characters are Ken Kaneki, Hideyoshi Nagachika, Touka Kirishima, Yoriko Kosaka, Shu Tsukiyama, Chei Hori, Ikuma Momochi, Hinami Fueguchi, and Kazuo Yoshida. Ken Kaneki used to be an ordinary boy who loved to read, and literature in general. After an incident he had survived, he received an organ transplant from a Ghoul, which then turned him into one. Hideyoshi Nagachika, also known as Hide, is one of Kaneki’s closet friends. He is a very curious boy with a sharp instinct. Touka Kirishima is a Ghoul girl who can be very quiet, but violent at times when she has to. Yoriko Kosaka is one of Touka’s classmates which she soon becomes good friends with. She cooks for Touka a lot and has a nice, but shy, personality. Shu Tsukiyama is a smart, but dangerous Ghoul. He has a strange obsession once it comes to eating. Chei Hori is Tsukiyama’s classmate, I would say his partner in crime sometimes. She is very short and has the looks of a 12 year old, yet she is very energetic and is described as a ‘hamster’ in the story. Ikuma Momochi is a Ghoul who moved from the countryside, to Tokyo so that he could have less interaction with Ghouls, and try to live a normal life. He is also very passionate in music, especially guitar. Hinami Fueguchi is an orphaned Ghoul who lives with Touka. She really likes to read books by Sen Takatsuki, just like Kaneki. Tokyo Ghoul [Days] takes place in many different places. These places include the cafe, Anteiku, Kamii University (most of the main characters school), Tsukiyama and Chei’s high school (does not say the name of it in the book), and the 20th Ward, where some characters hang around and live.
Tokyo Ghoul starts off with a boy named Ken Kaneki and his friend Hide, eating at a restaurant to celebrate Kaneki’s recovery. Kaneki had gotten into an incident that involved falling steel beams at a construction site. He had suffered life-threatening injuries and was very lucky to survive. He needed to get an organ transplant to survive, which he did, but it came from a Ghoul, which then turned Kaneki into a Ghoul. Being a Ghoul was a very tough struggle in life. You had to eat humans, because human food can make you very sick, you had to be careful not to get caught by any smart people or Ghoul investigators. As you can see, it was very much a struggle and something most Ghouls did not want for their own good. The CCG was a very special government that was created to kill Ghouls, and maintain all kinds of security about Ghouls. The Anteiku cafe was like a hangout spot for Ghouls. Kaneki worked there along with his manager Yoshimura, who is also the owner of the cafe, and Touka Kirishima. Hide often went to visit Kaneki at the cafe but Kaneki would tell him not to since there were many Ghouls, hungry for human flesh, who came and Hide is not a Ghoul. One day, while Hide was in school two people from the club ORC see Hide and start to question him about Kaneki, since they suspected he was a Ghoul. The ORC often went around to see if people have eaten. If they have seen them eat, they cross them off their Ghoul list. Hide then comes up with a plan to stuff Kaneki’s bag with snacks and secretly open the bag in front of the ORC so they see all the snacks fall out of his backpack. The plan worked and the ORC crossed Kaneki off their list, assuming he likes to eat in private. Another close call in Tokyo Ghoul [Days] was when Yoriko and Touka went to the zoo together. They were having a lot of fun and decided to set up a small picnic. The day before, Kaneki helped out Touka cook a dish for Yoriko as an apology after they stopped talking due to school drama. Yoriko was very impressed by her cooking and offered Touka a bite, but she refused since Ghouls are not supposed to eat human food. While enjoying their picnic, A few Ghoul Hunters show up to the zoo to make sure everyone is safe. They stood right behind Touka which made her very frightened. Thankfully, the Ghoul hunters found nothing wrong at the zoo, so they left. Tsukiyama was a pretty dangerous Ghoul to be around. When he was around classmates, he was very charming towards them which made him seem like your typical wealthy, teenage boy. Tsukiyama was out eating when Chei sneaked up on him and took a picture of him eating. He was shocked by the sudden surprise and decided to go after Chei, trying to eat her. She was very fast and a very good climber so she was able to out run him. Tsukiyama was very impressed and learned more about her. Turns out, they went to the same school and they were both around the same age. One evening, Tsukiyama came up with a plan and he needed Chei’s help. He wanted to sneak into the hospital and eat the really old man, since the nurse he was in love with, didn't like the man. Their plan was very successful and they managed to sneak in carefully, eat the man, and leave carefully. Although Tsukiyama had a nice dinner, one of the nurses reported the man's death as a Ghoul attack because she was a witness, but Chie and Tsukiyama never got caught. Next, Ikuma was introduced in the story. He was a musician who often liked to play in front of everyone at the train stations. He moved to Tokyo to stay away from Ghouls since he hated them so much. He would have to go out to the most popular suicide spot near the 20th Ward for food every night. He met up with a Ghoul while on the hill searching for food which frightened him because he wanted nothing to do with them. Once, on his way to Anteiku, he ran into Tsukiyama and he put up a fight. Ikuma lost a lot of blood but was able to be saved by Kaneki and Touka, at the cafe.
I found the ending of Tokyo Ghoul [Days] very interesting. Kaneki and Touka went to the library almost everyday with Hinami after Kaneki introduced her to it for the first time. There was this little boy named Yuuki that came up to Hinami the first day she went to the library. Hinami spent most of her time at home and didn't really know how to read so the boy said something rude to her. Touka was very overprotective and got really angry at the boy when he said that towards her. The boy got frightened and ran away. The next day he apologized by giving Hinami a nice bookmark for her books. Kaneki and Touka thought it was a bad idea that they have met the boy because kids like to say anything that comes to mind, and they are Ghouls, so they hoped he go wouldn't go around telling everyone about them. One day, at the library, Yoriko had gone up to Touka and it seemed like she found out something about Touka, that made her embarrassed. Touka was very confused at what she was trying to apologize about so she went after Yoriko. Kaneki soon went after Touka, who went after Yoriko, leaving Hinami all alone. Hinami then tries to find them and gets taken away by this group of teens. After Touka and Kaneki went back to the library, they immediately started to look for Hinami. They couldn't find her and Touka started to panic. Luckily, Yuuki noticed the boys taking Hinami but was too scared to react. He then had Touka and Kaneki go in the same direction as the teens to see if they could find her, and they did. The boys refused to give back Hinami so Kaneki decided to distract them by putting up a fight, so Touka could get Hinami. While fighting, Kaneki decided to bite the inside of his cheeks and let the blood run through. He did it so when one of the boys went for a punch in his stomach, he spit out all the blood, which frightened the boys into them running off. Kaneki was able to save Hinami. The story was then put into Kazuo’s point of view. Kazuo worked at a fitness center and a woman he saw multiple times outside the center looked a bit worried. A man then came up to her and yelled at her in a threatening voice saying “Have a million yen! You owe me big time!”. Kazuo then went up to the women and asked what was wrong. She told him that she had problems with a loan shark and she owed him 500,000 yen because of her sick mother in the hospital. Kazuo felt very bad after seeing the woman constantly being threatened by the loan shark. He then decided to give her the 500,000 yen so she could get out of the loan and be safe. She thanks him, and then leaves. After he told his co-workers what he did they looked at him funny and told him that there was never a woman with a sick mom that owed a loan shark 500,000 yen. They told him he probably got robbed which made him very angry. He was a Ghoul, but his co-workers did not know that. They then decided to go a fun little fitness class just to calm Kazou down. Kazou was very angry and worked out very aggressively, covering his red eyes hoping not to be seen by his co-workers.
I mostly recommend this book to older kids, I would say about 12+. I think this because the topics it talks about can be very gruesome at times. They can include deaths, humans getting certain body parts ripped off, lots of gore, and so much more. It also contains some foul language that isn't appropriate for younger kids. I recommend this book to my best friend Leah. She's a big fan of the Tokyo Ghoul anime and I think she would really like it. I think you should read it too! The book is filled with so much information and every chapter is a different character's point of view.
I think I did a pretty good job on reading Tokyo Ghoul [Days]. It was my second book of the semester so I was much better at writing and doing my status updates. Even though we only get a certain limit to write for our status updates I got much better at not writing too much on them. During the Second semester I feel like in order to be better I can update during the times I'm supposed to and not have any missing updates. Tokyo Ghoul [Days] was a very long book and it's not really my type of book because of the amount of pages. I feel like I improved my reading skills so much more after getting comfortable with reading a little quicker then how I used to.

One day, while Hide was in school two people from the club ORC see Hide and start to question him about Kaneki, since they suspected he was a Ghoul. The ORC often went around to see if people have eaten. If they have seen them eat, they cross them off their Ghoul list. Hide then comes up with a plan to stuff Kaneki’s bag with snacks and secretly open the bag in front of the ORC so they see all the snacks fall out of his backpack. The plan worked and the ORC crossed Kaneki off their list, assuming he likes to eat in private. Another close call in Tokyo Ghoul [Days] was when Yoriko and Touka went to the zoo together. They were having a lot of fun and decided to set up a small picnic. The day before, Kaneki helped out Touka cook a dish for Yoriko as an apology after they stopped talking due to school drama. Yoriko was very impressed by her cooking and offered Touka a bite, but she refused since Ghouls are not supposed to eat human food. While enjoying their picnic, A few Ghoul Hunters show up to the zoo to make sure everyone is safe. They stood right behind Touka which made her very frightened. Thankfully, the Ghoul hunters found nothing wrong at the zoo, so they left. Tsukiyama was a pretty dangerous Ghoul to be around. When he was around classmates, he was very charming towards them which made him seem like your typical wealthy, teenage boy. Tsukiyama was out eating when Chei sneaked up on him and took a picture of him eating. He was shocked by the sudden surprise and decided to go after Chei, trying to eat her. She was very fast and a very good climber so she was able to out run him. Tsukiyama was very impressed and learned more about her. Turns out, they went to the same school and they were both around the same age. One evening, Tsukiyama came up with a plan and he needed Chei’s help. He wanted to sneak into the hospital and eat the really old man, since the nurse he was in love with, didn't like the man. Their plan was very successful and they managed to sneak in carefully, eat the man, and leave carefully. Although Tsukiyama had a nice dinner, one of the nurses reported the man's death as a Ghoul attack because she was a witness, but Chie and Tsukiyama never got caught. Next, Ikuma was introduced in the story. He was a musician who often liked to play in front of everyone at the train stations. He moved to Tokyo to stay away from Ghouls since he hated them so much. He would have to go out to the most popular suicide spot near the 20th Ward for food every night. He met up with a Ghoul while on the hill searching for food which frightened him because he wanted nothing to do with them. Once, on his way to Anteiku, he ran into Tsukiyama and he put up a fight. Ikuma lost a lot of blood but was able to be saved by Kaneki and Touka, at the cafe.
I found the ending of Tokyo Ghoul [Days] very interesting. Kaneki and Touka went to the library almost everyday with Hinami after Kaneki introduced her to it for the first time. There was this little boy named Yuuki that came up to Hinami the first day she went to the library. Hinami spent most of her time at home and didn't really know how to read so the boy said something rude to her. Touka was very overprotective and got really angry at the boy when he said that towards her. The boy got frightened and ran away. The next day he apologized by giving Hinami a nice bookmark for her books. Kaneki and Touka thought it was a bad idea that they have met the boy because kids like to say anything that comes to mind, and they are Ghouls, so they hoped he go wouldn't go around telling everyone about them. One day, at the library, Yoriko had gone up to Touka and it seemed like she found out something about Touka, that made her embarrassed. Touka was very confused at what she was trying to apologize about so she went after Yoriko. Kaneki soon went after Touka, who went after Yoriko, leaving Hinami all alone. Hinami then tries to find them and gets taken away by this group of teens. After Touka and Kaneki went back to the library, they immediately started to look for Hinami. They couldn't find her and Touka started to panic. Luckily, Yuuki noticed the boys taking Hinami but was too scared to react. He then had Touka and Kaneki go in the same direction as the teens to see if they could find her, and they did. The boys refused to give back Hinami so Kaneki decided to distract them by putting up a fight, so Touka could get Hinami. While fighting, Kaneki decided to bite the inside of his cheeks and let the blood run through. He did it so when one of the boys went for a punch in his stomach, he spit out all the blood, which frightened the boys into them running off. Kaneki was able to save Hinami. The story was then put into Kazuo’s point of view. Kazuo worked at a fitness center and a woman he saw multiple times outside the center looked a bit worried. A man then came up to her and yelled at her in a threatening voice saying “Have a million yen! You owe me big time!”. Kazuo then went up to the women and asked what was wrong. She told him that she had problems with a loan shark and she owed him 500,000 yen because of her sick mother in the hospital. Kazuo felt very bad after seeing the woman constantly being threatened by the loan shark. He then decided to give her the 500,000 yen so she could get out of the loan and be safe. She thanks him, and then leaves. After he told his co-workers what he did they looked at him funny and told him that there was never a woman with a sick mom that owed a loan shark 500,000 yen. They told him he probably got robbed which made him very angry. He was a Ghoul, but his co-workers did not know that. They then decided to go a fun little fitness class just to calm Kazou down. Kazou was very angry and worked out very aggressively, covering his red eyes hoping not to be seen by his co-workers.
I mostly recommend this book to older kids, I would say about 12+. I think this because the topics it talks about can be very gruesome at times. They can include deaths, humans getting certain body parts ripped off, lots of gore, and so much more. It also contains some foul language that isn't appropriate for younger kids. I recommend this book to my best friend Leah. She's a big fan of the Tokyo Ghoul anime and I think she would really like it. I think you should read it too! The book is filled with so much information and every chapter is a different character's point of view.
I think I did a pretty good job on reading Tokyo Ghoul [Days]. It was my second book of the semester so I was much better at writing and doing my status updates. Even though we only get a certain limit to write for our status updates I got much better at not writing too much on them. During the Second semester I feel like in order to be better I can update during the times I'm supposed to and not have any missing updates. Tokyo Ghoul [Days] was a very long book and it's not really my type of book because of the amount of pages. I feel like I improved my reading skills so much more after getting comfortable with reading a little quicker then how I used to.

This particular Tokyo Ghoul light novel has six stories from both familiar and new characters, with artwork by Sui Ishida.
I'm going to rate each story individually to make it easier and hopefully faster.

The first story revolves around Hide, Kaneki's best friend. It touches a bit on the early days, when Kaneki first became an artificial ghoul. Hide has started to figure out Kaneki's secret at the time the story takes place. A group of people interested in the occult are also becoming suspicious of Kaneki being a ghoul and are determined to find proof. The whole story is about Hide covering for Kaneki and the early stages of when Hide decided to protect and support Kaneki's new life.
The reason for the rating...the story was awful.
I liked that we got to know Hide more. Kaneki is so scared of Hide "finding out" his secret that he pushes him away and the most we get about him are brief appearances and Kaneki's memories.
In Japanese, I can imagine this story was very well thought out and written. But the translation just didn't do it justice. Some of the sentences in the story were confusing, like they were poorly translated or someone translated it a little too literally. The flow of the story was also a bit odd. It jumped between Hide's thoughts, to present, to the future with almost no warning and sometimes even in the same paragraph.
The whole read kind of like a bad fanfiction.
Lunch Boxes: 4/5 stars
This story encompassed the relationship between Touka and her human best friend, Yoriko. It shows how Touka struggles not only to be a ghoul among humans but a teenage girl in the midst of schooling.
This story was better "written" (translated) than the first story. I've always wondered about the relationship Yoriko and Touka have and how Touka maintains it without revealing her secret. It also shows more of Touka's sensitive side and her growing dependence on Kaneki's guidance to make peace between Ghouls and Humans.

Tsukiyama is the star of this short story. It goes into a little more detail about how the sadistic Tsukiyama became friends with a human girl. It reveals how calculating and cunning Tsukiyama really is and how he has hidden pieces to his dramatic personality that can make one realize, he's not all that he appears to be.
The Big City: 5/5
This story is about a new character, a ghoul named Ikuma. He dreams of becoming a famous musician and bridging the gap between ghouls and humans through music. He moves away from his adopted-human mother in the country to the big city of Tokyo. He's determined to become as human as possible and avoid ghouls whenever he can. But he can't avoid them forever...eventually he meets some familiar characters who change the way he sees the world.
It's a unique prospective on how a human-raised ghoul sees the world and how his goals align with Kaneki's.
The Bookmark: 5/5
Kankei convinces Touka it isn't good for Hinami to stay locked up in their shared apartment all day by herself. So they take her to the library. There she meets and befriends a human boy. A careless mistake by Kankei and Touka lead to Hinami almost being kidnapped by a group of teenagers, until her human friend intervenes by going to get Touka and Kaneki.
The boy figures out what all three of them are, which makes him question if his Dove father is really right about all ghouls being monsters.
Yoshida: 5/5 stars
Oh Yoshida, we knew you so briefly.
Yoshida is the first ghoul Kaneki encounters after being released from the hospital. Lured by the scent of meet Kaneki wonders the alleys of the city until he comes upon a ghoul eating someone. Kaneki begins screaming, the confused ghoul grows concerned and tries to calm Kaneki down by offering him food...
And then we're introduced to Nishki, who kicks Yoshida's head clean off.
This story is a bittersweet story about Yoshida's life. He worked at a gym, he was very friendly, and had a lot of human friends. And then he meets a girl who seems interested in an "old man" like him. Problem is she's in debt to a loan shark who won't stop harassing her.
Concerned for her safety he pays off her debt and the woman disappears. It's then his human friends reveal that on some levels, humans are far more cruel than ghouls. It changes his entire view of the world and humans, until his untimely end.

Of course I enjoyed this, anything and everything do to with this world thrills me.
What I love is how Towada weaves a single storyline throughout the novel and then just changes perspectives. The OVA PINTO is from this novel, which was fun to learn.
I, as always, love everything about Kaneki whenever he shows up. Since these novels were written near the beginning of the serialization, it's funny to me that the only content of Kaneki we get is in his weakest state, when he's just a kind, caring, lovable little booknerd who wants to be left alone.
The Hinami story was hella heartbreaking though but it was so cute how the little boy gave her that gorgeous bookmark. All in all, I loved the novel, it was a bit thicker than PAST and I recommend it to anyone who loves this world, you won't be disappointed because I believe Towada really made sure to take everything to Sui Ishida, and it shows.

"Fiction books give the reader a chance to step away from their own reality and into the shoes of the characters, and they show you a world that isn't the one you already know. And sometimes the story's not so different from your own, and it lets you get closer to your own feelings."
As a hardcore Tokyo Ghoul fan, I enjoyed this light novel. The characterizations were not as I was used to or had imagined while I was reading the manga but when I considered the book as a whole universe on its own, it didn't matter as much. The timelines didn't seem to correspond with the manga at some places but they did create a certain completion with each other. I liked how one event also triggered another throughout the book even though they could be seen as stand-alone stories. Overall, I give it three stars for not meeting my expectations as a Tokyo Ghoul reader but still being a fairly enjoyable read.

I loved the different stories that were presented in the book and how the different ghouls tried to live their lives while interacting with the humans in the world. I think my favorite story was the one with Hide and how he was trying his best to believe that Ken wasn't a ghoul, even going as far as to planting food in Ken's bag so the other students would leave him alone. That's friendship right there and makes me sad about what happens in the manga with these two.
Still a wonderful read and a great addition to any fan's collection of "Tokyo Ghoul."

A totally pointless addition to the Tokyo Ghoul universe. It's just filler that reads like a movie novelization, and it's not even fun or insightful, which could go a long way in justifying its existence. I'm taking a pass on the other novelizations in the series.

The writing is way too simplistic for my liking. The whole thing would’ve been much better if it was made into a comic instead. Still, I’m glad that this book exists, I’ve really missed the characters of the OG series.

001ตอนไบเบิล ~ เป็นเรื่องราวหลังจากคาเนกิเป็นกูลได้ไม่นาน ตอนนี้จะเล่าว่าในช่วงเวลาเดียวกันฮิเดะคิดอะไรทำอะไรอยู่ มีกลุ่มตัวละครเข้ามาสร้างความปั่นป่วนให้น้อง มีช่วงบีบหัวใจ ตื่นเต้น กังวล อึดอัด และหงุดหงิดอินจนอยากจับบีบปากมาก

อ่านแล้วก็มีเรื่องที่ทำให้รู้สึกประหลาดใจเพราะไม่เคยนึกถึงมาก่อน มีตัวละครตัวตนโดดเด่นจากตอนอื่นเข้ามาแจม มีความเชื่อมโยงกับอีกตอนและช่วยเฉลยความหมายของประโยคที่ตอนแรกมองผ่าน พอรู้ความหมายแล้วดูลึกซึ้งดีชอบ ถึงตอนนี้จะหนีไม่พ้นความหน่วงแต่ก็มีส่วนที่ช่วยปลอบประโลมชีวิตเราได้ดีเลย

ตอนนี้รู้สึกอึมครึมเพราะอดีตของตัวละครมันฝังใจ แต่หนูน้อยฮินามิก็สดใสสุดๆเมื่อเจอหนังสือจนเรานี่เคลิ้มไปเลย มีสถานการณ์เล็กๆที่ชวนยิ้มกริ่มแรง

???โยชิดะ ~ เรื่องราวชีวิตของโยชิดะก่อนที่จะได้พบกับคาเนกิและรุ่นพี่นิชิกิ นางเป็นชายวัยกลางคนผู้ทำงานในฟิตเนสคลับและหลงไปชอบมนุษย์ในนั้น
ตอนนี้ยิ่งทำให้รู้สึกว่าชีวิตของกูลยากเย็นกว่ามนุษย์มากๆนอกจากจะมีส่วนที่ยากในแบบของกูล อย่างหากเกิดเรื่องอะไรขึ้นไม่ว่าจะผิดหรือไม่หากเป็นกูลก็กลายเป็นคนผิดซะอย่างนั้น ยังไม่รวมความยากในการใช้ชีวิตในสังคมมนุษย์ที่ไร้ซึ่งความปลอดภัยในชีวิตของกูล

This light novel is an anthology of short stories set in the Tokyo Ghoul universe and fills in somewhere in the original manga series, and around the time after Touka kills Mado. Four of the stories are told from a perspective other than Kaneki, which is refreshing (no offense to him). Stories are told from Hide's, Touka's, Shuu's, Ikuma's POV and they all tie in to roughly the same time, but with very different stories.
In Hide's story, we get his growing curiosity with the possibility of ghouls. When he comes across a group in his university who investigate ghouls and think Kaneki is one, he joins up with them to see what they know, and to prove to them that Kaneki is human. Eventually, he comes across another ghoul, and you can see the shock of that incident through him. Touka's story has a familiar theme if you are already acquainted with the manga/anime - her friendship with a human classmate that is difficult for her to maintain. In this story, we see her exasperation with herself for not being able to understand the human world. Meanwhile, Shuu's story is about the human girl Hori who doesn't seem like the regular humans to him, and how their 'friendship' came about, while also making us question who are the real monsters in the world. (Shuu definitely is one, don't worry - the story doesn't try to humanize him or anything). But my favorite story was about Ikuma - a ghoul who was brought up by humans, and who has the same kind of morality that Kaneki has. He is also linked to the first story by Hide in timeline.
I truly enjoyed reading these small snippets into other character's heads, their thoughts and their motivations. Kaneki is an unbiased narrator but he is not an omniscient one, and this story set delves into these other characters very well and stays true to the source material. But I do think that the translation of this book did not render well in English - the language of the book comes across as stiff and unnatural in some aspects, and some conversations seem inorganic. I mean, a lot of meat (ha ha) of the conversation couldn't be changed in a translation, but we have also to consider that Japanese can sometimes come across as formal (even when it between friends) when translated directly to English.
Overall, though, this is a book every Tokyo Ghoul fan will love. And even if you aren't familiar with the TG universe, it really isn't that hard to make the connections. It does leave out details of the CCG and something relating to the ghouls backstories, but even alone, the stories feel complete enough to be entertaining.

Algunas novelas sólo pretenden ser entretenidas, sólidas; ser un vistazo a la vida de una serie de personajes sin, necesariamente, hacer algo revolucionario. Sólo algo interesante. Algo que hace mucho más complejo cualquier clase de juicio crítico, pues no sería justo valorar de la misma manera quien tiene intención, o potencial, de ser algo más, y quien busca, simplemente, un entretenimiento entrañable.
Este es el caso de Tokyo Ghoul Days . Spin-off de Tokyo Ghoul escrito por XXX, todo su mérito radica no en alcanzar las cotas de profundidad literaria del original, sino en todo lo contrario. En darnos un vistazo entrañable y poco profundo al día a día de sus personajes.
Eso significa que la novela es, ante todo, agradecida de leer. Compuesta por cinco historias diferentes de personajes principales y secundarios del universo Tokyo Ghoul, su mayor interés reside no en lo que aportan al tema o al mundo de la obra, que es más bien nada, sino por cómo se sustentan como algo más específico: un estudio de personajes. Dándonos una perspectiva más personal e íntima de cada uno de los personajes, la novela se sustenta sobre ese dar pinceladas sobre personajes conocidos para que nos movamos en un campo que nos resulta familiar. Confortable. Incluso si, en casos como la relación de Kaneki con Hide, queda desdibujada y un tanto ridícula comparada con el manga original.
A eso cabe añadir que literariamente cumple. Al menos en lo que resulta a ser entretenida. Resulta ágil, divertida y nunca nos deja en las sombras, incluso si más atención al ritmo, las imágenes y la forma del lenguaje no le hubieran restado ninguna de sus cualidades de accesibilidad.
Algo que le define. Ser accesible, fácil y un perfecto tie-in para los fans de Tokyo Ghoul que quieran algo más con lo que aplacar las ansias de leer más. Un entretenimiento sin ambición alguna más allá de actuar como una pildorita para mantener contento al público haciendo lo que la mal llamada literatura comercial parece no saber hacer: no tomar al público por imbécil.
