Hands down 5 star read!
What a fabulous conclusion!! This book had it all, mystery, magic, suspense and romance (and boy did she nail those moments of romance!) I've waited, as we all have, for this conclusion of Sophie and Calder's story and I WAS NOT disappointed. I had no idea what to expect, and I was wonderfully surprised at every turn. Sophie is a fabulous heroine. She emulates both weakness and strength, and I personally believe that her strength is most times found in what others view as her weaknesses (especially Esme, a fabulous bad witch who is a fantastic good witch at the same moment-please don't tell her I said that because she'd probably throw me into a wall 😆)
A skill that I have noticed C.V. has is the capability of showing the integrity of her heroines through their actions in ways that others fail to me. Some heroines either seem only weak or strong to me, I either love them or hate them, but with her's there are so many layers. It's not so cut and dry, and I enjoyed that Sophie's mate, Calder, recognized it as well. Sophie is a complex woman who has lived a tragic life and through it all, and not without struggle, she manages to hold onto herself, her light.
When the final battle came, I was so happy with everything that happened. I didn't expect to love Migisi and Luc's story as much as I did, but how could I not? It all began with them, and I could just see the two twisted trees, embracing for eternity offering strength and protection for generations to come.
One last thing Colleen, I know you have only about 1,000 books on your plate, but I can totally see a little novella in the future that gives us a glimpse of Grace as well as Jon and Esme, just saying!
Thank you for this ending, it was a pleasure to read!
