Time #2

Once Upon a Time

Rate this book
Echo comes from the wrong side of the tracks and has the grit and badass attitude to prove it. She doesn't believe in love either, at least not as far as her own life is concerned, because believing in it means facing memories that changed her young life.

Logan had an idyllic upbringing and was living out his dreams of writing abroad. Two phone calls changed everything though, and he returned home to help his ailing mother and his brother recover from a motorcycle accident.

When Echo and Logan meet there's instant electricity, but Echo is hesitant and afraid, two words that rarely describe her. Logan, however, is determined to break down her walls and show her that sometimes fairy tales do come true.

WOW! Great job on developing one of my favorite characters, Echo! This could be a stand alone easily but I love how the author intertwined all the characters from This Time into her sequel, without being redundant. I'm not one for loving sequels but so glad the POVs in this book were 2 new characters. I love Echo and her sharp, closed off personality. Logan is the perfect prince even if the princess didn't want to be saved. Kudos, m.m. clem!!

A good pick-up from the first book, This Time ! Once Upon a Time is the second book of the Time Series and it features Jessie's best friend Echo.

A tough past had Echo building up walls around herself. She really didn't need other people in her life besides her bestfriend Jessie. Unfortunately for her, a certain prince charming was eager and romantic enough to want to get through her walls. Echo was a tough cookie. Sometimes too tough that it kind of irritated me. Still, she was a woman full of spunk and wit and she was fun when she wanted to be.

Logan has seen and experienced so many parts of the world. But he never quite met an individual that he wanted so much to explore. I loved Logan in this book. He was patient, charming, and smart. Which I think was good because he balanced out Echo's too-tough and sometimes irrational personality in the book. He was definitely a piece of this story that I enjoyed.

I have to say that Once Upon a Time was a better read than This Time. Which just means that the author is improving. Once Upon a Time had a deeper plot and the main character's chemistry was hotter and more felt. I enjoyed reading it. Overall, a good read but not enough to blow me away.

Definitely a step up from the first! This story focuses on Echo, Jessie's best friend. We have already become acquainted with Echo, but this book delves into her past a bit so we can really see who she is. A feisty, complicated woman set on never making a commitment so she doesn't have to put her heart on the line. Until she meets Logan....
Fans of the first won't want to miss this standalone sequel.

I really like how the author weaves the characters together and ties the series together (while still making it so the books can be read as stand alone).

I’m enjoying reading about the characters and finding out about their pasts and how they are working to deal with issues from their early lives.

Good story with solid HFN ending

The main thing I really liked about this book was that not everything had to be resolved by the end. Every little thing wasn't tied up with a neat bow. I much prefer novels that leave me with a sense that the characters will keep moving forward through all the good and bad after you've turned that last page. On that, this book delivers.

I did have one problem with the novel and that was the disparity of how the characters act and their age. They are supposed to be in their early 30s, but they read much younger than that to me, like they're in their 20s. It did take me out of the story quite a few times.

Although I felt the characters were less mature than their age, it was not enough to put the book down. I did enjoy it.

Upon first picking up this story, I immediately took a liking to Echo and her spunky take-me-as-I-am attitude. She hooked me from the start, and Logan was also intriguing in his mystery from the beginning.

As the story progressed, I appreciated the depth the author gave Echo. I enjoyed (that doesn't seem like the right word for her hardships, but bear with me) exploring her past and getting to know the character and why she made the decisions she did. Her character was my favorite part of this book!

All in all, I enjoyed reading this love story, but more than that, I appreciated Echo's journey to self-acceptance

I went back and forth on this book. But ultimately, ended up liking the book overall.

The overall story was good but there were spots that could have been a lot more clear and developed. I enjoyed the inner battles of Echo and the persistence of Logan.

Overall, a good short story about second chances and battling your demons.
