Beauty in Winter by Alexa Riley is book four in the Beauty series.
Fiona Lamb has lost everything. She was raised by her Grandparents and lost her Grandpa five years before. Now, her Grandmother, after a long illness, is also gone. With sky high medical bills, Fiona has had to sell everything in order to pay off their debt. She hoped the one thing she cherished the most, her Grandmother’s rose ring, could be saved but it was very valuable and was also sold.
The lawyer has a plan for Fiona, though, to help her to earn back her ring. If she will sign the contract, she is needed as a live in helper to a reclusive man. Fiona will do anything to get the ring back so she signs on the dotted line without hesitation.
Reid Gold is an alpha shifter but a curse was placed on him in his teens preventing him from ever having his first shift. What good is an alpha that can’t shift. So, he lives alone in a huge castle until his friend shows up with a woman who is to live with him and work for him. One whiff of the beautiful woman and Reid’s world tilts sideways.
This was very short, it seemed shorter than usual. I did love it though. It was really easy to visualize with this and I easily had the whole scene in my head. Fate had a plan for both Reid and Fiona. They both had to travel a rocky road but once they found each other, their futures were sealed.

How can I put this mildly? I was a bit disappointed with this version of the fairytale of the "Beauty and the Beast".
And I shouldn't be!
Because all the elements that I love in Alexa Riley’s books are there:
-The humor: "You smell fertile. Mr Gold is going to be very pleased."
-The smut: Grabbing my cock at the base, I push into her wet warmth and feel her tight heat wrap around all twelve inches.
-The possessiveness: "I am yours....And you are mine."
-The breeding:"it's the mating heat. It's bearing down on us, forcing us to breed."
-The Alpha male:"The blood that pumps in my veins is alpha."
But it felt rushed and incomplete, like an obligation that it had to be out of the way.
Let me explain:
1. It is the shortest story. 60 pages which are really 30 if you subtract the title, the dedication page and the first chapter of the "Riding Red" that it is included. And it has really big fonts. Seriously the other three authors definitely put more effort on this series. Even if the other three stories are not your cup of tea, you have to acknowledge this.
2 . Although the story is short, it could have been more solid. And it is not. Not enough explanation in the beginning, then straight to sex, then boom straight to finish. The two epilogues (which cover one third of the pages) were actually more complete.
3. If you compare The "Beauty in the Winter" with the "Riding Red" which talks about shifters too, they are different like night and day. "Fairytale Shifters" is a nice PNR series and I highly recommend it.
4. One of my favorite books by Alexa Riley is "Owing the Beast". I believe this is a great and more appropriate version of the Beauty and the Beast myth by AR.

Alpha beast... lets welcome it?
I am not one to enjoy beastly type of books with a fantasy twist, however I am glad I read this one as I enjoyed it. I did not enjoy it one hundred percent, but it was indeed a good fast smut to read. Highly recommended to those who are into alpha male beasts and the whole aspect of a fantasy type of romance. **wink wink** Carol, this one goes out to you girl!

What a let down. There was this whole "the rose ring legend" and the author did jack with it. It could've been so much better with an extra chapter giving more substance to the whole story and I'm still not sure if the curse was broken at the end of this book.

2.5* Good but less than 40 pages.
I knew going in this was a short read but I'll admit I didn't expect it to end at just 46%. I felt cheated and so I counted the pages (yes I really am that sad) and there's less than 40 pages which is crazy.
Is it wrong that when a book stares it has 60 pages to actually expect 60 pages?
Despite the short length I enjoyed the book. Fiona has lost everything, her grandmother has gone and everything has gone to settle their debts but she desperately wants her grandmothers rose ring and will do anything to get it which is how she finds herself agreeing to work for reclusive billionaire Reid Gold.
Reid is the alpha wolf but he's cursed and remains in a half state unable to change and so he's locked himself away from his pack and the world.
Like I said I enjoyed this book but it needed more, it could have been so much better I was left feeling the authors had found themselves committed to this but didn't have the time or inclination to do it so they rushed this out.

PERFECT ENDING FOR THE BEAUTY SERIES!!!
Of course these ladies had to keep the best of this deliciously naughty and enchanted series for last. This was the smuttiest and sweetest of these four beauty and the beast retold tales (don’t forget to see their first book with this theme in Owning The Beast).
I know I can always count on Alexa Riley to lift my spirits after a bit of heavier read. Their insta-love, equal parts sweet and filthy stories are a guaranteed cheer-me-up. And some of their OTT crazy lines manage always to crack me up, even when least expected.
She breathes a sigh of contentment when I release into her, like she’s burning and my cum is her aloe.
LMAO!!! They really are too much! But just the right thing for when you are looking for a very light and extra tingling read with some incredibly romantic loyal and caring characters. I love these fairy tales’ adaptations, and all this series – specially this last installment – hit just the right spot at the right time!!! Oh, and that perfect AR trademark epilogue… WOW<3 <3 <3 <3 <3

This was the last book in the "Beauty and the Beast" themed series. I was looking forward to this one as it was written by Alexa Riley and I love her work!! Unfortunately, this was just an ok read for me.
It was short, sweet and sexy, but one that in time I will probably forget about. For a quick read though, it was fine; but it didn't have me yelling from the rooftop or anything like that! LOL
Time to move on from these four books...I am always a sucker for anything that has a Beauty and the Beast theme, but these books were ones I could have easily left alone...Like I have said....they weren't bad...but easily forgotten..

It's a great ending for the series. As always, I loved AR's books! You can never go wrong with their books. The story is super short but I had fun reading it and I also loved the epilogue!
The story is about Reid and Fiona.
Fiona's grandma was buried the day before and she was all alone. She has lost everything and she wanted to get her grandma's ring back. The only choice she had was to work for Mr. Gold.
Mr. Gold is Reid. He's the first-born of their alpha pack but he was cursed. He had never fully transformed and was unable to lead the pack until Fiona came.
It has beautiful epilogues.

The last book from Beauty series presented by Alexa Riley. A dirtier retelling from Beauty and The Beast with a touch of paranormal. Sounds great, huh? Well, it is. But I found this one was weaker than others. I barely remember the characters with super short story and crazy insta-love. Very different from usual AR. =/

Such hilariously sexy(??) gems come from Beauty in Winter- the last installment in BATB retelling by four authors, this one by my favs AR.
Reid is a cursed alpha wolf who can't shift. When down on luck Fiona is hired to be his housekeeper, his latent beast awakens.. and well that mixed with breeding and batter is the story.
Enjoyed it but it was too short.

Truly shows why I can't stand the Insta Love trope while being a complete sucker for Enemies to Friends
This probably would have gotten five stars if wasn't for the freaking insta love and had a plot with interesting character development. I mean they barely knew each other names before they are jump each other bones like they are going to die if they don't fuck. It's not really a BATB retelling to me cause in BATB. the beauty got to know the beast as a person before she fell in love with him. To see what truly lies beneath the monstrous surface. Like actually spending like a couple days,weeks or months getting to interact with him. In this, she didn't know him for a good five fucking min before she was completely in love with him and want to have his babies. It exposes why I really have a love /hate realtionship with the mates thing because you have a overbearing possessive dude that only things about one thing only. The mates thing only does well to me if it 's not reveal they are Mates or Soul Mates AFTER they gotten to know each other and start to fall for other. It shows that it's just an added bonus and not the only requirement. The only reason it's getting two cause the smut was well written which was the only good thing about it which is honestly sad if you think about it.Such a disappointment. I don't I'm going to try nothing else from this author.

Is it possible that in just a few pages a story can be perfect not lacking anything in comparison to a full-length novel?? Well except that we want more and more from these lovely characters then the answer is most certainly yes!! I've lost the count of how many times I've said that I'm all over the hills for AR stories, so this one won't be the exception!!
Well, the story is based on the fairytale Beauty and the Beast, I have to say that I adored the modern way of the story with all the AR ingredients.
Reid and Fiona won me from the first pages and all the insta love/lust blew my mind away with all the erotic intensity and the overflow passion!!
Don't even question it if you love this kind of stories the look no further because here you're going to wet many panties (you've been warned). Looking forward to reading the next amazing AR story!

This book grabbed my attention because it mentioned two of my favourite things in romance novels: Beauty and the Beast inspiration (I can never say no to something that speaks of a Beauty and the Beast style story) and shifters (they’re my go-to fantasy creature in romance, the one thing I never grow bored of). Thus, through seeing the two thing sitting side-by-side in the synopsis, I knew I needed to give this one a read. It was screaming out for me to read it.
I’ll admit, despite how pulled in I was, a part of me was tentative. I love long detailed stories, and find myself rather nervous when entering a story that is completed in a mere handful of pages. I shouldn’t prejudice such stories, and yet I always fear that a book I can complete in under half hour will fail to leave me with the same kind of feelings that a tome that takes me hours to read will. Fortunately, Beauty in Winter managed to provide me with another example of how such a short story can fill you with so much. In fact, it’s probably one of my favourite romance reads of this length. Despite completing this book in well under half an hour, I experienced so much throughout.
The characters were a lot of fun. The romance was steamy. There were many emotions experienced. Most importantly, for me, was that the story provided something more than sex scenes. Yes, it made up the majority of the book – however, there was also a story. Oftentimes, I find the story gets loss within all the body on body action, but such was not the case with this one. Although you knew where it was going, even though there were no surprises to be found, this one managed to give a fulfilling story.
Honestly, I enjoyed it so much. Despite being happy with the story, a part of me (as always with stories of this length) wishes it had been longer. Not that it wasn’t wonderful, oh no. My desire for the story to be longer has nothing to do with the story being lacking. Rather, I feel as though this story had the potential to be even more wonderful. I could imagine it as a truly amazing full-length novel. It really was amazing considering how short it was, and I can only imagine the kind of beauty that would be found if this story was made into something more.
Overall, a truly wonderful quick read.

I love AR's Fairytale books, Princess books & Shifter books - and this book is sort of a little blend of all of them & it's wonderful!
Sweet, Smutty, Sexy & Super Hot.
Yeah, it's insta love, but AR's characters make it so easy to believe because you fall in love with each of them instantly too.

I started these 'Beauty' series wrong!! lol
I started with Beauty in Winter (#4) because one I just saw that Alexa Riley release a new book and I got it and two I didn't know that it was a series until I was finished and saw that other authors had (Beauty #1,2,3)....
All 4 book are amazing.. I will say my favorite was the one written by Alexa Riley, but honestly all 4 book are great... after I finished reading one I jumped to amazon and bought the next one..
Must read them...you will not be disappointed!

I am annoyed at this book because I had to pay for it and this novella is hardly 60 pages. Being the shortest book in the Beauty series - there is hardly any plot here.
Like the rest in the series - this is supposed to be another “sexy Beauty and the Beast retelling” but it was ridiculously rushed. The couple met and one sentence later they are having sex. No real point - just read the rest of the books in the series which are available on KU.
You can get this generally same story free on the fanfictions site. Meh!!
