Ultimatum is a rerelease of the previously published third book in the Mate Series. The story has not changed.

Derek Taylor likes women. They’re beautiful. All of them. Human, shifter…it doesn’t matter to him. Having a werewolf alpha as a best friend makes it that much easier to meet those of the other species. Surely getting claimed by one of them as their mate isn’t very likely.

Then he sees the alpha’s cousin and all he envisions is their bodies wrapped around each other, her lips, well she can put those lips wherever she wants. And if the way she’s looking back at him is any indication, it won’t be long until he has her right where he wants her.

Paige Treyhorn has no need for men. Especially not the shifter who likes to leave her gifts and notes saying she’s his mate. Yeah, it doesn’t work like that, buddy. But then the scent of her actual mate wafts by her nose, and suddenly men aren’t quite so bad. Except maybe the ones standing between her and her destiny.

Now all she has to do is convince a human he’s the fated mate of a werewolf shifting woman. All while avoiding the unknown man stalking her and thus endangering her newfound love.

Annmarie McKenna lives with her husband and five kids in the Midwest. Throw in a dog and a cat and she’s well over her limit for the average family. She leaves that to her hubby. Now if only she could figure out how to de-stress her kids, she’d be all set.

The summary makes it sound like Derek's a player who's only interested in loving and leaving shifter women.
There is no sign of this in the book.

The revelation of the stalker was disappointing

Paige is a wolf shifter who finds her mate and he happens to be human. She's concerned he may not be accepting of her wolf. But when they meet up the chemistry is off the charts! How can he not be on board after their explosive coupling? Neither can stay away from the other which is good because someone is watching Paige. She starts getting gifts and letters and they are not from her new found mate! She's got a stalker and Derek and her family are doing everything in their power to find out who is harassing her.

I adored Derek and Paige as a couple. Derek is a human, but still a force to be reckoned with by comparison to the wolves. And Paige-what a strong heroine! If you piss her off, watch out! She can definitely take care of herself! And what about the smoldering sexy scenes you ask? Yowza!-this one does a splendid job of making you feel tingly in all the right places! Overall, Ms. McKenna did a great job with the mystery and kept the suspense high so this was a book I didn't want to set down! Although I had an idea who the stalker was, I needed to find out! It was compelling and very entertaining.

I have to say looking back to the blurb, it really didn't match the story in the book. It gives you the idea that Derek is always looking for his next hookup. I found no evidence of him being a cad or worse, based on the story told. Plus it suggests that it was assumed he was the one leaving the gifts but that was never conveyed either. It was pretty clear who Paige thought was leaving the unwanted gifts and Derek wasn't it. I think it may need a little re-working as Derek was admirable and a real nice guy!

Ultimatum is book three in the Graham Pack Mates series. There are overlapping characters from the previous books but each story features a different couple so they can be read as standalones. For PNR fans, especially wolf shifters, give this a one-click as you've just found your next read!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This isn't my first book from this author. I requested for a copy of this book because the other books I previously read from her had that good mix of heat, suspense, and mystery which made the books exciting to read.

Ultimatum fell in the middle of my love, like, or hate list. The premise was very good. I liked the angle of a human male this time who would be a mate to a female shifter. That warrants 1 heart. Then, I liked the romance and the chemistry between the characters. That gets another heart. Then I like the suspense that kept me on the edge. I had a vague idea of who the stalker might be, but I couldn't really be sure. That is another heart.

I initially just wanted to rate this three red hearts. However, in going through the scenes I liked most for a second time, I realized that aside from the story and the romance and the suspense, this book entertained me without a doubt, so for that alone, I am giving it another red heart.

When it comes to paranormal romance, I think Annmarie McKenna knows what she's doing. That said, I definitely have her on my watch list. Ultimatum is a good book for PNR fans who like their heroes hot an their heroines to be kickass women who isn't afraid of staring into the eyes of their stalker.

Paige is a werewolf who is being targeted by a stalker so it's not a particularly convenient time for her to be blindsided by finding her mate. However once she gets a whiff of Derek Taylor all bets are off and her fate is sealed.
Derek is a human who is friends with Paige's cousin. He is completely bowled over by the tiny werewolf female. Fascinated and drawn to her, their relationship is a fast moving wildfire. Derek and Paige are set to have a happily ever after... if he can save her from the danger stalking her first.

This was a quick and enjoyable read. While it didn't strain my brain to figure out who the stalker was, I was still satisfied with the resolution of the plot.
The one thing that isn't doing this title any favors is the blurb. I was given the distinct impression that Derek was some kind of manwhore "playboy human" and that simply wasn't the case. I went in expecting his character to be one thing and instead was given something completely different.
It was nice to see another offering from Annmarie McKenna!

Good read

I really loved this series! Page and Derek's story was a good storyline but for me the ending expected more. I do hope their be more books with these characters.
