-Most movies aren't very good. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. But nor should it be a surprise that some are so bad they possess a unique appeal arising specifically from their inadequacies. This book is a celebration of, and guide to, those movies -Analysis and reviews of 101 of the best good-bad movies of the last fifty years -Exclusive interviews with heroes and villains as diverse as Dame Joan Collins and Tommy Wiseau -First-hand accounts from genre legends who explain what went wrong, and why it isn't their fault -Unique behind-the-scenes images -Future classics are exposed, old mysteries solved Whether you realize it or not, you probably enjoy bad movies. If you've ever been amused by cheesy '80s action, or laughed at a shoddy horror movie monster, then you've paddled in the so-bad-it's-good shallows. The deep waters beyond can be intimidating, teeming as they are with dreck. But among the unmentionables are some of the most ridiculous and enjoyable movies ever made. You just need to know where to look. Exposing good-bad action movies, science fiction and fantasy, horror - and the rest - The Bad Movie Bible includes films such as Batman & Robin, The Room, Troll 2, Miami Connection, Nick Fury: Agent of Shield, Black Devil Doll From Hell, and Hell Comes to Frogtown The Bad Movie Bible is the first in the series of light-hearted movie bibles, analyzing and eulogizing cinematic subcultures.
One of my great joys are bad movies and this book is a joy to read. I figured it would be. Hill's videos are witty and his erudition comes across here as well as an understanding for why people like bad movies. The selection here are ones he treasures and does not hate so this is less mockery and more a love letter for at their heart all beloved bad movies are both funny and in their way daring acts of original art.
I'm not a huge bad movie fan, although the fact that I know who Neil Breen is and have watched hundreds of old bad movies through the MST3K filter would suggest otherwise. I have my personal favorites, like Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky, but I usually can't get over feeling bad for people who tried their best to make a good movie and completely bombed. However I do like to hear people talk about bad movies and Rob Hill's YouTube channel is great for this. His book suffers a little since you don't get his deadpan delivery but I think it's still well worth a read if you have any interest at all in the "so bad it's good" genre of movies.
Lots of fun with several films I’ve never encountered up to this point (which is undoubtedly a blessing in disguise...and I sat through Birdemic AND Rollergator). Fun interviews, photos, and synopses of craptacular movies from the 1980s onward. You’ll walk away hating anything shot on video, trust me.
Great! I'm a person who recently got into the ridiculous love of "The Room," and I've become a fan of MST3K in the past year. This is an excellent guide to horribly amazing films. Well written, funny, and nicely compiled with fan favorites and unknowns alike, this is simply a very fun book.
A great resource for lovers of bad and cult cinema. Perfect for people discovering the world of "so-bad-it's-good" films (typically starting with such infamous films like "Troll 2" and "The Room") and introducing them to the depths of cinematic disasters and depravity.
Excellent guide for movie lovers who crave crappy shlock films. A clever rating system is provided, and author wonderfully recounts some humorous facts for each entry. There’s no shortage of familiar titles found in this bible, but Troma and Full Moon feats are neglecting for the most part.
I can't focus on anything right now, so I wanted to read something lighter. This is fun, and a pretty comprehensive list of crap. The author is also really funny.
