The book is less driven by narrative and more academic. It has a lot of interesting reference material but probably isn't one to read unless you are really into the nitty gritty of map design and manufacture

If you enjoy getting lost in the fine print of history, you may find yourself wishing the author lingered longer on the details. Still, it does a solid job of sparking curiosity and giving newcomers a taste of the charm and mystery behind antique maps.
