"Do you think you're the only woman in this room that loves the pain?"

Sydney isn’t one to go around directing the doms she plays with. If they don’t know how hard and how long to go, she walks.  Voicing her desires isn’t even an option. As an assistant DA she’s used to asking questions, not answering them.

Tate knows exactly what Sydney is after, how far she could go before she finds that sweet oblivion submissives find beneath his flogger. But he’s not giving it to her until she can ask for it.  He sees the fire burning in her and will try everything to show her how to let it burn wild.

One snag, there’s a murderer in town and it’s their job to make sure they get the right guy and keep him behind bars. But when the case starts to hit a little too close to home can Tate and Sydney work side by side without losing each other in the fray?

I really love Measha Stone's work so when this came out, it was no question to get it. The characters, Sydney and Tate, are perfect for each other but of course, they each have issues to work through. And then with a mystery going on, the story is complex and very well developed. Measha writes in such a way that you can feel the emotions of each character and put yourselves in their shoes. This is just a wonderful addition to a series I am already hooked on, Black Light! You can read each story as a stand alone but the owners of Black Light seem to show up in each book! LOL Wonderful story, wonderful plot and kept me reading way past my bedtime!!

I love the Black Light series and Cuffed was awesome!
Measha uses words to paint a vivid images in the readers minds. This story had mystery, intrigue and a lot of wonderful scenes. The dialogues are very realistic and this makes it easy to be inside the story.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sydney is an assistant DA and Tate is a detective and they have ran across each other at an underground BDSM club. While in that anonymous world they were unaware of each others profession. However a murder case has them running into each other in what Sydney’s considers her private domain.

Tate has been attracted to Sydney since seeing her at the club and Sydney has had a secret lust crush on Tate. When the two of them finally meet at the club Sydney is in full brat mode trying to push Tate’s buttons to get him to do what she wants without her asking for it. Tate is refusing to be pushed and is willing to outwait Sydney as she comes to terms with her needs.

I found I had a hard time getting past Sydney’s brattiness she came off as a whiny pouty teenager instead of the seasoned Assistant DA she is supposed to be. I get that she is a submissive but she was too annoying for me to get into the book. Plus I guess I am not into the call me “sir” thing for me that is a big turn off. I had read Crave by Jennifer Dawson and I was hoping this book would be similar, no such luck. The other book had characters with depth and fire this book just worked too hard at having Sydney push buttons for no reason and Tate as a Dom just seemed to gloss over many things that Sydney said she didn’t like because he “Knew” what she needed.

This book is part of the Black Light series but can totally stand on it's own. However, I would totally recommend reading the other books in the series, especially Black Light: Valentine Roulette. This story is about Tate and Sydney who actually met at the Valentine Roulette and neither has been able to forget the other since. While Sydney knows what she wants from a Dom, she refuses to admit it out loud which is why she always feels unfulfilled. Tate sees what she needs and is determined to break through her walls and be the Dominant that she needs but not just in the club.
This was a great story as we watched Tate try to work on Sydney issues. And in the process there were some really hot scenes both in and out of the club. But there was also another storyline that focused on Tate and Sydney's professional life as a detective and a prosecutor working a murder case. This provided not only suspense but added drama as Sydney tried to hide information from Tate that put her in danger. Overall, steamy romance and a bit of suspense made for a great read.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

I thought this book was a great edition to the Black Light Series. I love how each book is written by a different author but they each incorporate each other's characters, making the stories flow seamlessly together.

A good thing I like romantic suspense as well as erotic romance. Again this happened outside the Black Light club to real, hard-hitting life. Don't get me wrong. There were some very hot scenes at Black Light. A look in on a group we met at Valentine's Roulette. Remember Dane and Riley? *fanning self* Super hot couple reconnecting. "What?" Riley couldn't go home with Dane because she had come with Sydney and Sydney was obviously very upset about something? Now it is weeks later and the story picks up. Sydney has to deal with Tate now, whether she wants to or not - or should I say likes it or not. Let me tell you, her body says "oh yeah!" but her mind is fighting it every step of the way. I must say Tate has the patience of a saint. Makes for an interesting, if maybe uncomfortable, situation. (BTW - Dane and Riley still seem to be quite happy together.)

But back to the suspense part. Not a bad cop story here. A little bit of Law and Order - Cops and DA, actually assistant DA. There was a fun back and forth going on here. Although the sexual tension seeped in, the overall handling of the case was . . . Mostly professional. The author did a good job of blending the personal life - suppressed history - and professional life and how it affected the case. Well done. Let's not forget the: "Gasp!" "Oh no!" "Don't answer the door!" "Look out!" *sigh*

I wasn't very excited about the ending though. Although it was a very nice scene at Black Light that culminated in declarations needed for the HEA, I felt cheated of the "punishment scene" promised at the end of the case. It was mentioned, but as something that happened months ago. Another book ending that felt rushed because the author reached a word count. Would it have really hurt to have one more chapter? Sorry, a bit of a pet peeve of mine.

Overall, a good story with a happy ending.

This book has it all for the erotic book reader. I loved Sydney and Tate and the story they had to tell. Sydney is the assistant DA and Tate is a detective. However they have met and interacted in a underground BDSM club. He has been attracted to her after seeing her at the club, and she has had a secret crush on him. However at the club Sydney is being a brat and pushing Tate's buttons because she wants something from him but she just wants him to know what that is without her telling him. However Tate is not one to be pushed around and played with and he can hold out forever if he has to. He can out wait Sydney until she can voice what she wants. Plus there is a murderer in town that puts the two of them working together to put them behind the bars and make the street save again. I really liked this addition to the Black Light collection.

I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through arc.

Sydney was a high powered assistant DA so her job is always stressful. Her way of coping is going to the club to get some relief. Tate has a thing for Sydney after he met her at a Valentine Mixer and has thought about her. Sydney is at the club and Tate sees her with another light weight Dom he also knew Sydney did not have public sex. Sydney and Tate got together instead and he punished her for being bratty. Sydney waited for the detectives to come to her office about this certain case when she sees Tate she couldn't believe her luck. Sydney and Tate get together but she still kept being a brat.
Sydney pressed her luck when she went behind Tate's back to get information. He punished her just like he said he would and if she got bratty again she would feel the disobedience of her Dom. They have been on a case together her being the DA and him being the detective. The closer the case started coming together the more he wanted her safety. It got to a point in their relationship that Tate was seeing more of Sydney and their play as taken on its own life. The closer she got to the case the more Sydney went against what he had to say and she would pay the consequence. Twists, turns, murder and kidnapping gives this book a fast pace. Also, great hot spanking BDSM play.

I always read for the author and like her style. She has a way with words, characters
and plots that keeps things interested.
For this book, the romantic parts are great. I loved the BDSM dynamics between the main characters in the club and private life. My problem was with the suspense part and the characters attitude at work. Tate kept intruding in Sydney's work although she is the DA . She is supposed to have the upper hand here and they already had agreed to keep their personal life separated from work. Showing his dominant side at work by questioning her about how she was managing the case has weakened her character. Also, I can't imagine a DA who will ask a friend to give her the records of the gym without a subpoena! The evidence will be easily dismissed by the judge so it doesn't make sense that any DA will try something like that. It looked so unprofessional of her to do it. What about the detectives? They received an anonymous tip and they decided they had gotten the criminal without any further evidence!! More credit should be given to law enforcement officers please. They have experience and for sure they know that the real criminal might try to distract them by pointing to others.
I give the erotica in the book 5 stars. However, I give the crime and suspense 3 stars. So all in all I give it 4 stars.

Taming of a Brat

Tate & Sydney’s love story started at the Valentine Roulette when her friend Riley was paired with her ex, Dane. Sydney and Tate shared a table as spectators and we saw two brief interactions between them. I had a feeling even then we would see them again.

Their story had lots of action and a plot besides just their personal story which I enjoyed. I also loved seeing the way Tate handled Sydney’s bratty tendencies and helped her grow as a person. They were perfectly matched.

It was great getting to see how Riley and Dane are doing and to know they are making it work this time. I was hoping they were. Especially fun was the brief scene with Alexander and Sienna. They were one of my favorite couples at the Roulette and I was thrilled to see they are involved in a real and happy relationship. While it isn’t necessary to know either couple’s story to enjoy this book, it’s definitely more fun if you do. This is the main reason I stopped jumping around in this series and started from the beginning, reading everything in order, now, even books I read before. I really believe it’s the way to get the maximum enjoyment out of them. Hopefully Tate & Sydney will make appearances in future books so we can see if they are still together and happy, too.

This study honestly took me a while to read. I started it, and then couldn't read it, but then decided when my mind was in a better place I'd pick it back up. Honestly, I'm glad I wanted to finish the story.

I love the premise behind the Black Light series, and the fact that multiple authors are writing and collaborating in this "world" based on a BDSM club. I'm honestly amazed at the amount of thought and detail that is put not only into the stories, but in the scene details as well. Measha made she the descriptions of the lifestyle and scenes are some of the most accurate I've ever read, and I could easily picture the scenes playing out. It's often hard trying to find good books in the genre that follow the overall guidelines of the BDSM lifestyle. Even though I no longer participate, it's nice to delve back into it, only if it's mentally pictured in my head. I really look forward to going back through the whole Black Light series (I've been reading them out of the published order), and love that each is their own standalone story.

Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Sydney and Tate are going to blow your mind! If you like a great detective story mixed in with a steamy BDSM read than Black Light: Cuffed is the book for you! Sydney is a submissive in her private time and a sassy assistant DA working on a double homicide. She wants to find the real killer for these crimes and the man in the tank for the murders just doesn't fit the bill. Meet Tate, detective Tate working the same case as Sydney, also known as Sir. He and Sydney met at the club Black Light. He wants to be her Dom, but she is grappling with admitting what she needs. The tension and heat build up from page one, and kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed the suspense and the thrill of new found freedoms explored. I loved how Tate provided the safety and boundaries Sydney needed to come to a place of self acceptance and surrender. The anguish and inner strength of their journey had me captured until I saw how it all played out. This was my first time reading a book in the Black Light series, I can't wait to read the rest of them! Even though Black Light: Cuffed (Book 5) is a part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone, one I highly recommend!

What can I say, the Black Light series continues with another great book. Sydney and Tate are the main characters and are from the Black Light Valentine Roulette book.. Sydney has a very stressful job and lately the case she is working on has gotten to her. She needs release and Black Light is just the place. She goes there and who does she end up with but Tate (she has been trying to avoid). He knows what she needs but fails to ask for. He takes care of her that evening but Tate wants much more with Sydney. He ends up as a detective on the most recent case of 2 women being murdered. Sydney is the prosecuting DA. Much to their surprise, he's a detective and she's the DA. They work through a lot together. Both job related and personal. Tate pushes Sydney to say what she wants and things start to go well for them. Misconceptions mess things up. But Tate is there when she needs him most. They would have never guessed who the killer had been. The story was very good. And also the ending. Another great Black Light book.

Measha Stone brings us a sassy Assistant DA and a dominant Detective. This Hero and Heroine keep your pulse racing!

Sydney doesn't know how to ask for what she wants directly. She tries round about means to get what she wants and always is disappointed. Tate can see right through her. He knows what she wants but he wants her to be direct and accept what she wants.

Sydney can't avoid Tate when he is assigned to a case that she is already working. They must work together as the case leads them back into their world of dominant and submissive. Can Tate help Sydney accept what she wants before it's too late?

Measha does an amazing job of giving us a story that is intense and suspenseful. It is a great balance of sexy scenes and great plot and suspense. I like how their are elements of domestic discipline in here as well. This book is a great read for those who like a little ymystry with their romance!

Cuffed is one of the Black Light books. It takes place after the first Valentine's Day roulette, but is only sort of related to it. We saw Sydney in it, but only as she relates to her friends, not really on her own.

Sydney met Tate at Black Light on V-Day, they had a little minute together and spent some time talking, but since then, she's been working really hard to avoid him. He doesn't know her name, and she really doesn't know him, but then Sydney, an assistant DA takes on a case where Tate is the detective, and whoopsie. It's pretty dang hard to avoid him now.

I like Sydney, but I think that her stubbornness gets her into more trouble than it gets her out of, and I'm a huge fan of being stubborn. I think that she's so used to being independent, she can't even think of giving way at all.

Tate is a very good guy. He is remarkably even-tempered and controlled, even for a Domly type. I think that he is perfect for Sydney.

Sydney is an assistant District Attorney; Tate is a detective. They begin to work together when a possibly innocent man confesses to the murder of two young girls. Sydney is convinced of his innocence. Tate is willing to investigate.

In addition to their professional lives, they are each familiar with the other from Black Light East. Sydney craves a strong, stern Dominant, but she is determined to keep this craving hidden. Tate is perfectly capable of delivering exactly what she needs, plus more.

I am really impressed with the way this story was able to coordinate the professional lives of these two strong people along with their personal needs and desires. And, I especially love the way Tate was able to help Sydney discover, accept and vocalize her deepest needs and desires., thus allowing him to fulfill both of their desires.

I highly recommend this excellent story of growth and acceptance.

Sydney is a sub in desperate want of a Dom who can give her what she needs. As an assistant district attorneys, she needs some stress release from her high-powered job. She finds Tate, a detective, at The Black Light, and while he might be a good partner for her, they realise they will be working a case together. This story was a great blend of the start of a BDSM relationship, interspersed with their work of solving two murders. I liked Sydney's stubbornness, and refusal to accept the obvious. I enjoyed watching Tate work hard to give Sydney what she needed, and his patience in helping her become a stronger person, not just a better sub. This story was well-written and paced, and absolutely engaging, both in terms of the BDSM and mystery aspects.

I received an arc of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it.

Amazingly good...

5 stars= no glass of my favorite beverage and a 4 cookies and a cool towel...

This book is amazingly well written. I could almost feel the licks and the pain, it’s like it was leaping off the pages.
This, if I’m not mistaken is the second book by this author, that I’ve read. And after I finish this series of BlackLight... I’m heading over to read as much from Measha Stone as possible...
I originally received this book as an advanced copy via Booksprout, but I just had to use my KU account to read the entire series. From the first book (Jaxson,Chase and Emma’s Story) to this one. And now onto book 6... I might need another glass of my favorite beverage and some more cookies for that...

I know you will enjoy the series as much as I am doing so far... it’s worth the time and subscription...

I have been reading Measha Stone for a while now, finding her first through her wonderful Ever After series. This is a Black Light book, a world of strong, kinky doms and beautiful subs. The stories in this sexy series are always entertaining.

This is the story of Sydney, an Assistant District Attorney, and Tate, a police detective, both working on an unsolved murder case, possibly a serial killer who appears to be murdering subs from the local clubs. It is also a story of two people drawn to each other out of mutual interest and need and the struggles they encounter when starting a serious D/s relationship.

Like I said, I’ve been reading Measha for a while now. When I see that she’s the author of a book, I pick it up because I know she’s going to deliver a good story and a fun adventure. And she more than succeeded in that with this book. Highly recommended.

I think I liked the romantic suspense, the whole detective and DA story more than the the Tate and Syd story.

Sydney's brattiness and her overall inability to communicate was kind of irritating. I did like her commitment to the case, and the fact she put faith in her instincts. I just couldn't figure out why her instincts didn't extend to her personal life.

I thought it was interesting how Tate could read Sydney so well. I was also impressed that he kept trying with her and didn't give up.

With regard to the mystery or suspense side of the book, at one point, the identity of the killer was obvious. Since I knew who it was, it became an issue of reading to see how "they" were going to figure out who it was, and stop the person.

I would give this 3.5 stars. It did make me want to go back and read Dane and Riley's story .

I think the author did a wonderful job of balancing the detective work, the prosecutor work, and the character development between Sydney and Tate. The case itself that is being worked on is well plotted out, well unraveled, and really well done.

But more than that, I loved the push and pull between Sydney and Tate because they're the detective and the assistant DA on the case so they have to work together while also figuring out this growing dom/sub relationship between them because it's not just bedroom play between them but a full lifestyle outside of the club and the bedroom. The unwinding of Sydney's bratty nature and fears of why she has such walls up that Tate has to work to pull down is wonderfully done and with how well the bdsm was handled, as well as how much depth the characters in the book have, it's made me want to dig more into this author as a whole.

I loved this book! Not only did I get my fix of totally hot Erotica and BDSM action, I was rewarded with a good suspense/mystery story. Sydney is an assistant DA who happens to be into Kink but up until meeting Tate, a detective in D/C. she has never found anyone who can give her what she wants. Can Tate win her over and help her find and accept her real self? This book will keep your juices flowing while keeping you biting your nails while you perch on the edge of your seat trying to figure out who killed the two women? Not for the faint of heart but if you like reading some dark kink that was well written, this is definitely a book to choose!

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.

This is a lovely addition to the Black Light series, full of BDSM, love and rope! Sydney loves to turn up the brat factor to get what she wants as she refuses to ask for it. She fully underestimates Tate when he says he knows what she wants, but will make her admit it first. When they meet outside of the club and have to work together, sparks fly but so do tensions as they learn how to balance real life with a D/s relationship. Measha has done a great job of engaging the reader with super hot scenes, brilliant ways to combat brattiness and a well written plot. If you like a little mystery/thriller with your BDSM, you will fully enjoy this book!

Black Light: Cuffed was a really good read. I was totally engrossed from the first page to the last page. I’m so glad I found this author. This book had a little bit of everything: hot chemistry, BDSM play, suspense, and of course they solved the case.

Sydney is a DA by day and a submissive by night. Tate is a detective by day and a Dom by night. They first cross paths at a BDSM club. Tate can tell that Sydney’s needs aren’t being met by the Dom’s she’s playing with. He knows he can offer her what she craves, but he won’t give it to her until she asks for it. This is a must read!!!

I absolutely loved this book! The Black Light Series is one of my favorites and I love how different authors contribute to it. This story revolves around Sydney, a DA who is looking for the right Dominant for her but thinks she’ll never find him. Then Tate comes along and blows her doors in. While he is everything she is looking for, she is afraid to show him her real side. The chemistry between these too is sizzling and I rooted for them throughout this entire book. And the way this author describes the characters, you can actually see them in your mind. This book is a definite must read. I truly enjoyed it!

Another Fantastic Black Light! Another Fantastic Measha Stone!

So far, I have greatly appreciated and enjoyed the diversity of kinks, BDSM practices, and fun that Black Light has publicized with superior quality writing in both content and mechanics. I expect that to continue but I needed to mention it now because content diversity is something I've always respected & loved about Measha Stone's books. This one is no different. She's brought another perspective on a particular kink. Sydney's bravado hides the fact that she actually feels ashamed until Tate shows her how great freedom from that shame feels.

Another hot BDSM book from the Black Light Series

Cuffed is another entry in the Black Light Series and like the previous books in the series, this is a fantastic read. It ticks all the boxes - sex, suspense and humour.
What I love most is the way the story seamlessly fits into the Black Light world. It's like catching up with family, finding out more about Jackson, Chase, Emma and Sydney's best friend Riley and her partner Dane, who we met in Valentine Roulette. If you like your books on the hot side and enjoy reading BDSM then definitely give this book a go, I really don't think you'll be disappointed.

I am such a fan of the Black Light Series. Cuffed is another great addition! I admit, at first I could not remember who Sydney and Tate were? As I read through the first chapter, I began to remembered them from Valentine's Roulette, and I devoured this book. I loved Sydney and Tate's story. You can feel their chemistry and their strong connection. It's those emotions that will ultimately allow them to finally find a happily ever after, or will leave them devastated and heartbroken. Love is a tricky thing when you are haunted by ghosts.
On a side note: I loved the way Tate's character is depicted: strong (in a take no BS kind of way), understanding, patient, caring and loving.
