Tharan Warrior Ménage #1

Their Captive Mate

Rate this book
BY DAY. THE ALIEN WARRIORS TREAT HER AS THEIR ENEMY.
BUT AT NIGHT, THEIR DOMINANCE DRIVES HER WILD WITH DESIRE

Commander Cass Randall escaped from space pirates who hijacked her ship and forced her to land on an unknown planet. When she heads out alone to warn its inhabitants they’re in danger, she’s taken captive by a pair of hot alien warriors.

Tharan twins Rhynn and Rhom shared everything – their thoughts, their emotions, even their mate Zara, who died at the hands of the invaders. Convinced the beautiful Earther they found is allied with the pirates, the warriors take her prisoner. She’s stripped bare, subjected to stern and shameful punishments, then forced to help them track their quarry across the galaxy.

Being near the little human stirs a savage hunger in the dominant warriors. And though she tries to resist, Cass finds their firm mastery wickedly arousing.

Cass’s dedication to finding her ship and rescuing her crew wins their trust. Over time, her courage and passion touches their hearts. They’re determined to claim her as their mate. Together, as is the Tharan custom. But after all they’ve done to her, can she trust them enough to submit to the dark desires of not one, but two alien masters?

If you like dark romance where a feisty human heroine meets hot alien warriors, you'll love Book 1 of USA TODAY Bestselling author Kallista Dane's Tharan Menage series. Each book is a stand alone full-length story with a happy ending.

Publishers Note: Their Captive Mate is an MFM menage dark romance with elements of graphic sex, spanking and BDSM. If these subjects offend you, please don't buy this book!

Why? Why do I keep doing this to myself? Wait...don't answer that!

This is supposed to be a scifi romance/erotic love story.... it isn't!

description

I'm sorry...being drugged and beaten is not sexy when you are forced and scared... getting spanked while in a consenting relationship that you trust, and with love is very sexy. This not so much.

People are churning out these books like chocolates on an assembly line. Most are just garbage. Sometimes you find a jewel ... for me this was not one of those times

It should come with a warning...

Pretty good

This is my first Kallista Dane story and I really enjoy it.

Revenge can sometimes blind you. Even to your new mate. The Tharan Warrior twins loose their mate and in need of revenge take it out on Callie, who just might be their new mate.

Mediocre, Couldn't Get on Board With the Characters

Ok plot. Typical. Well paced. Steamy sex scenes. Zero character development. No intimacy. Information/continuity discrepancies.... My take on things:

Cass goes from being held prisoner by pirates, to being the captive of twins, Rhom and Rhynn. Despite the dangerous situations they find themselves, the pheromone-based attraction between the trio simply cannot be ignored. They all have their reasons to try and fight it- Cass is their prisoner and the believed perpetrator of the death of the twins' mate, even if indirectly. I give them credit for slightly trying but even though the Twins seem to be just taking out the anger of their loss on her, Cass doesn't really try very hard to convince them. She's just pretty into being their captive I guess.

The twins mention how much they pride themselves in the fact that their race is know for treating others fairly, with respect and putting women first. They don't actually show any of these attributes. I understand why they're wary of Cass but they found her beaten and injured and they didn't help her- they just told her she must get off on being beaten (we're not talkin' sexy spankings here) and continued their own brand of interrogation tactics. Again, she doesn't really seem to mind. Man, those pheromones must be pretty great...

I can get on board with the whole pheromone attraction/ biological imperative take on the "insta-love" situation, but Cass actually comes to the realization that she loves them beyond the hormonal attraction and steamy, forced or gratuitous sex when none of them have ever had a real conversation or know anything other than their names. There's no character development past the very basic storyline and between the sheets. I suppose for the purposes of this book, being degraded, disrespected, looked down upon and having twins apologize for months of imprisonment by eating her out is true love; because that's where they're at so far when she realizes this. I'm ok with the basic dynamic (because, hey, hot twins) but, Love? Come on. Don't get me wrong, the whole Dominance/ "you've been a very bad girl so now I'm going to spank you" thing is hot, but other than sexy punishments...they treat her like less than nothing, less than garbage for months!!! One normal conversation beforehand, just one might've brought me on board; I don't really have high standards here. Alas, they do live happily ever after somehow.

I understand these books aren't meant to be "realistic", I do, but It's pretty irksome when there are so many continuity and information discrepancies. It just interrupts the story for me when my brain gets snagged on these- everything from the timeline , how many members are on board a ship, how long it takes to reach a destination, what the h was wearing 2 pages ago, etc. The timeline does jump back and forth from past to present, but still doesn't add up. With the timing, this also leaves gaping holes in logic where specific plans are concerned. Actually, there's gaping holes in logic of every plan and reasoning of said plans the entire book. It's just poor writing. But hey, if you're a skimmer/speed reader and don't really care about the specifics as much as simply gleaning the very basic information, you shouldn't have an issue.

This is really more a Stockholm Syndrome experience masquerading as insta-love. I suppose it appeals to a certain genre, but I didn't really enjoy it, and I saw no reason for Cass to forgive the heroes.

Some confusion...

And some continuity issues lead to some distraction for the reader. Had an interesting plot but the characters were poorly developed and had passing descriptions. Could have used a better background to establish them. Not the worst but would have gotten better review if editing and grammatical errors were not so bad.

Okay

Nothing original here. Oversized aliens, small human ruled by her sexuality getting spanked and convinced that they are right and know what is best. Bleh

*WARNING* May have triggers, contains violence and dominant sex scenes.
Rhynn and Rhom are strong, powerful Tharan warriors. The Tharan race are always born in identical twins who see, feel, and share everything, even a mate. Rhynn and Rhom were out hunting when Earther space pirates invaded there village, they killed women, children, and the old. They took others with them. The Earther space pirates beat, raped and murdered the mate, Zara, and because of the close bond share by the three, Rhynn and Rhom saw, felt, and heard everything Zara did. When the twins found an Earther female on their way home from burying their beloved Zara, they knew they had to make her talk, make her tell them where her friends took the ones kidnapped from their village.
Cass is the commander of the Luna where she has an all female crew. She should have listened to orders. How will she make these BIG aliens understand she is a victim too?
I liked this story. I like the realistic approach of the alien makes being to stubborn to listen and then to embarrassed to admit they may have been wrong. I really like that there was a female commander with an all female crew. It's a good story with good characters. I'm interested to see if these characters carry on the the next book to help look for the ones still missing. This book tells how all Tharan makes are raised to look after or care for females, I hope the next book gives the characters a different personality, so many series seem to be basically the same story over and over. This is a good start to a new series! Onward!

Denial runs deep

—>>> Twin Tharan warriors Rhynn and Rhom are agonized and helpless to feel through their Bond their mate’s last thoughts and arrive too late to save her. Finding an Earther woman, they take her prisoner, except this was Commander Cassidy Randall of the Interstellar Federation, and she and her crew on the Luna were duped by the same Earther pirates responsible for the savagery and the brutal attack on their village. Keeping her captive to track the ruthless sky pirates across the universe, they experience the maddening development of being unable to physically resist her, still consumed by feelings of anger, guilt, grief, and now shame for the way they feel for this filthy Earther so soon after their mate was taken from them. They did not believe her account that her ship was attacked and Cass and her crew taken prisoner.

Though intoxicated by their punishments, Cass had to weather their nighttime trysts until she could rescue her crew from these pirates before they killed the members or sold them off as slaves, so getting them to believe her was the least of her worries, though she tried.

A hot sci-fi romance, with intense scenes derived from the emotional states of the grieving brothers, who finally realize their actions and consequences towards an innocent victim of violence.

I read this story after "Punishing Their Mate" so got it a bit around the wrong way. But that didn't mean I didn't enjoy the story. In this one, we find out how Cass ended up on Theron and under the dominating power of warrior twins Rhom and Rhynn.
I actually love BDSM style stories so loved this one. There are triggers for those people who don't like the idea of men dominating women, but the choice is there to continue reading or shut the covers of the book and don't carry on. Anyone who carries on then gives a low rating for the books isn't being fair to the author. Kallista does a damn good job of putting pen to paper and showing a world of dominance - male over female. One thing readers need to look at is how these guys care for her. They're not vicious or nasty - they genuinely care and this is the difference between a good Dominant and a bad one. One thing to remember also is that the twins are warriors. They live a life of violence so seeing the way they treat Cass after her punishment shows their true feelings for her and that should make these types of stories more enjoyable to readers who don't know a lot about the BDSM lifestyle.

Dane is a fabulous writer. Sci-fi is not anything I would ever consider reading. However, Dane has a way of turning something nonexistent, my interest in this genre, and turned it into something, a 4 star review from me!

Who knew other beings have such talent? Ménages are not my thing but the twins in the story seem to be one being. Their bond is infinite. Cass and her crew fall for the oldest trick in the book. Cass eventually end up with the boys. She is understandably freaked out. Two seven plus men with purplish skin definitely deserve some sort of reaction!

Everyone has an agenda. Everyone is out for some sort of revenge. Unfortunately Cass seems to be the only person paying the price. But ya know after reading some of the twins' shenanigans with Cass, paying the price might not be so bad after all!

I think this story is worth a peek or two as long as there's a bucket of ice in the vicinity. Nicely written, Dane! I'm a sucker for a good spanking!

4 stars!

This book contained m/f/m with the twins giving out punishments to their prisoner. Right from the start, Cass got the short in of the stick one from Pirates taking over the ship to being caught and imprisoned by the twins, when they think that she's with the Pirates. This is, I think, the second book I've read by this author and if I overlook the rape and forced bjs, the book had some potential. Cass went through hell and let them off too easy. "Sorry, we made a mistake." BDSM does not mean RAPE! BDSM in real life still has respect for the other party. Sorry to say I gave the book HER SAVAGE MATE 5 stars while overlooking these points, but now with 2 of her books down and can't in good standing give this book more than 3 stars. I don't understand why there is so mean 5 stars. Rape is NOT romance no matter how many pretty bows you wrap it in. Sorry to say I'm not reading any more of her books.

Bdsm with menage

The book starts off with Cass being held prisoner by Rhom and Rhynn, twin Tharan warriors. After a couple chapters it goes back to show us what happened to Cass, Rhynn and Rhom a couple months before. Then takes over at the present time again. I'd rather have started in the past the continued, but I am not the author.
I liked the book and will be reading the second one in the series. If you like menage bdsm, with mostly spankings as punishment you may enjoy this book.
The actual menage was at the end, but there was quite a bit of sexual things being done through the book.
There were women from different planets being sold into slavery by the pirates who took over Chase's ship. The following book leads us further into the search for these women by other Tharan warriors. Looking forward to it.

I enjoyed this book because it made me think about other worlds that could be out there and if it was real then sign me up. Cass is the commander of the Luna star ship on a mission but stops to help another ship in distress and broken down with children on board but it was a ploy and now her ship belongs to Magnus and his pirates and they force her to land on Tharan where the kill most men and rape and kidnap the women to be sold into slavery. Once Cass comes to she leaves the ship to try and save the people but doesn’t make it in time. While hunting Rhynn and Rhom see whats happening back home and rush to save there mate but are helpless and can only watch through the bond as mates as her rape and death occurs and by the man who does it. Omg I’ve given to much away read this story for the rest.

Captured by Twin Warriors

The Earth space ship is captured by space pirates, but the Commander of the ship escapes only to be captured by two Tharan Twin Warriors. These two warriors belief she is part of the Earth group that attacked, and demolished and murdered their village, including the tape and murder of their mate. These warriors want to seek retribution and try to torture her into telling them were the pirates have gone. They later recognize the woman does not know where the pirates have gone, and believe she is also a victim who was severely beaten by the pirates. The two warriors take her in their space ship to find where the pirates are. The Commander does find her captured ship, boards it, and helps the twin warriors capture her ship. An interesting part of the story is the Commander becomes sexually aroused by the two twins.and becomes their mate

No bad but...

It just wasn't for me. It had the feel of a dystopian omegaverse to me but without the omegas, like in Zoe Blake's books. If your into that type of thing then you'll prob enjoy this book. However if your someone like myself who likes a headstrong heroine who doesn't let men just take over her life with no real protest, then I would suggest skipping this book.
I would also def label this as dub-con at the minimum because regardless of the anger behind it all the addition of the "pheromone" that make her act not like herself made me feel iffy about them falling in love without any real groveling, After keeping her prisoner and basically using her as her pet it should have taken a hell of a lot more for them to earn her forgiveness.

While Rhynn and Rhom twin Tharans were out hunting their planet as attacked and their mate was abused and killed by human space pirates. Because Tharans twins and their mates are psychically linked they shared every bit of her agony and death. When Cass escaped the pirates she wanted to warn the people of the planet of their intentions and return to her ship and try and save her crew. Instead she was captured by Rhynn and Rhom. As they chased the pirates all over, Cass healed the hearts of her twins and found love and happiness all under their dominate hands. I really liked this book and can't wait to read more as Tharan twins find love.

The punishments!

She was the Captain of the Earth vessel and was tricked into helping what she thought was missionary on a planet but turned out to be murdering Pirates. They took her & her crew as slaves ready to sell. She managed to get away while the Pirates went on another rampage but then was mistaken with being in league with the pirates. Twin brothers captured her and again was held captive. They would punish her with hard spankings, not believing she was innocent of all the murders. This BDSM story is a good SciFi stort and I look forward to reading more.

Spankingly erotic

Who knew spanking could be so fun. Um maybe... with a head strong female and two very alpha males you can imagine that there is a whole lot of spanking go on, and other things too. Not a bad plot, good writing kept me interested, a lot of control issues in the loving department. There was a lot of wincing on my part because two dominate males, only so many entry points, yep ouch. No matter how an author writes it pain is just pain and walking funny for a few days. Happy reading!

Unputdownable, exciting, and emotional, I started reading this book late one afternoon and stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it! At times, the action is violent, and the pirates are human trash, but the author restricted the survivor's pain so well that it hurts your heart too. Cass is set on a path to save the abducted while at the same time being blamed for the pirate's actions! The plot of the story is jam-packed with exciting scenes and hot encounters that are detailed and are an important part of the culture. It's a really good start to a series that I will definitely be reading!

How can you Justify rape and think a simple apology fixes it?

Rape is not okay. No matter if the rapist says, "Sorry." This is written in a way to Where they are making it feel its Justified because the woman submits to their demand. Reading rape scenes don't bother me. But the way this was done was Just wrong, I'm hoping the next book isn't like that. The story was pretty good. But I Just couldn't get over the first half ofthe book. I just couldn't make myself I ike the twins after all of that.

Their Captive Mate

I enjoyed this book. It was interesting and intriguing reading. Had a little of everything and with softer domination. Ms Dane did an excellent job of writing just the right amount with out repeats and/or drawn out incidents. She kept you interested in what the next scenario was going to be and how the trio managed it. If you're interested in this genre then this is the author for you.

Two Plus One

Cass loses her ship to pirates. When she meets two warriors, they believe she is part of the pirate crew. She tries to tell them, but they don't listen. As they spend time with her, they finally believe her after she touches their soul. They called it, the bond. You just have to read the book! It is for adults only, for sure, for sure! This is the only series I want to continue reading.

This book gives a new meaning to the acronym BDSM: Blasé Dull Soulless Manuscript

I was bored from the very beginning. This fic starts midway through the plot then backtracks and tries to catch up to the present where the first chapter started. That alone should've been my first clue as to how bad this story was. If you can't start at the beginning to pique my curiosity and think something from the middle of the plot is needed to hook my attention, you've already doomed the story.

Irst I will say this novel was very exciting. It had the adventure. The love. The quirks. and STEAM. Once I started I couldn't put it down until I finished the last page; then I wanted to read more. Alien adventures normally isn't my type of read. My mind was changed big time today. The WARRIORS Rhynn & Rhom.../INCREDIBLE!!! The lead lady was sassy and just fine. A definite must read

First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

First book about the Tharan warriors and their first encounter with humans.

Cass was the captain of a all female crew. They answer a bogus distress call and get taken captive by slave traders. When she escapes the pirates she lands in hot water. See how revenge, fear and hatred turn into love.

Twin warriors and a captured ship commander

This felt a bit like consensual non consent in the beginning, but the love grew between the three and is was all consenting adults. Not for shy readers. Hot, sexy domination and submission. Adventure and danger surround our heroine and heels alike. A fast, sexy read.

I love me some guilty heroes but the heroine kinda let this go too fast. I am not one who needs it to be dragged out for my own amusement but I need to see her process it before forgiveness is handed out, and that didn't really happen. It was distracting for me for the last half of the book or so.

Not too dark

This wasn't too dark regardless of the warning. Lots of spankings and punishments. Love how the men slowly develop remorse and come to understanding their feelings and their mate. The author took the time to really detail past and current times and emotions.
