Warning- this book contains: action, love, and scenes of erotic sex between two consensual (and eager) adults.
Ashlyn MacLeod’s life is all she ever wanted. She lives in London, attends a world-renowned university, and is one step away from getting her PhD in archaeology. Everything is going exactly as planned, until a humiliating rejection forces her home to the Scottish Highlands. Struggling with the loss of such a huge opportunity, she begins an excavation on her family’s rural property, in an effort to finish her dissertation and save her career. As she digs into the wet dirt, she unearths much more than she bargained for.
The sight takes her breath away. She never could have imagined that she’d uncover a blue skinned man, seemingly buried alive under tons of rock for an unimaginably long period of time.
The man, Reus, as she would come to know him, is lean, muscled, and barely alive. When he finally takes his first breath and openes his eyes, she immediately feels captivated by him.
Who is he? What is he? And why does she feel such a magnetic connection to him?
As Ashlyn and Reus both struggle with their new reality, they must answer two essential questions: what happens if he’s discovered, and how will they get him home?
Nicole is a romance novel junkie (completely uninterested in the path to recovery), who spends most of her time weaving stories her mind. When she surfaces to the real world, she lives in Sicily, Italy, with her husband, two wee girls, and their fur-baby, Emma.
When not writing (or reading), she likes to watch movies, paint, and above all: travel!

Unearthed is the second book in the Sirilian Series. I start my review with that statement as several characters are mentioned from the first book, but also you get more from reading them in sequence. For example the main characters home world is described in depth in the first book, and the author doesn't linger to much repeating the same stuff over again in the second.
Where to start, characters in the book are Reus, Ashlyn, and her family. Well as the title states this book is about something being unearthed. The sequence of events leading up to the actual dig led me to think the author did some research behind becoming an archeologist. I never really thought about it, but appreciated the details provided and goes well in the book.
The story was a steady pace up until about 75 % of the way then it took off fast. I don't say it as it was boring or anything like that, it was great and then it went really quick towards the end. It could have been my adrenaline and emotions going all over the place, but it almost made me want to have like 3 more chapter towards the end to savor the events.
I know I sound vague in the above statement but I don't want to give out any spoilers. Believe me when I say that if I give to much more than the book description I would be taking away some of the best things that occur. All I can say is you get plenty of passion, romance, and family drama in a realistic read. The author makes you feel like you could be Ashlyn dealing with these situations. Can't wait to see what happens next!
Unearthed is the second book in the Sirilian series. Nicole Krizek is really good at world building and setting the scene, descriptive without droning on or being repetitive . The story set a steady pace for most of the book but was bit quick in the last quarter (where characters from the first book and the Arathians series are reintroduced). I really liked that the Karincin and Aevum from the first book came back and that some of the questions I had from Adrift were answered. I love love love the yummy Reus and the steamy scenes between he and Ashlyn were great . This is definitely a book I will read and enjoy again. Would love to see some little blue babies in the next book. (Hopefully there will be more in this series and the Arathians)
I received a copy of this book for a honest review. Nicole continues to write lovely romances. I enjoy getting to see old characters return and I'm looking forward to what may happen with new ones. Each tale completely individual, yet still cohesive within the different groups. Fantastic depth with our H and h. Eventhough definately scifi, very realistic too. That being said, those of you who lean towards more action/adventure this may not be the book for you, But, otherwise IS a perfectly sweet romance to curl up with :)
my favorite book in this series so far. i just love how the characters from the other books make appearances in the different stories. even lucas. i just love the couple in this story.
There were a lot of good things about this book and a very few things that could b eimproved. -- the weight given the rape and such is too light. Overall quite good.
Loved the book. It has everything you could ask for. Action, romance, humor, a sexy hero, a smart heroine. As with all of Nicole's books, you get pulled into them and fall in love with the characters.
