Three books in one! Out of all the anthologies that contain three books, this is certainly one of those!"The humor injected herein may not be your cup of tea. Familiar, yet strange. Surreal, yet all too real. Sweet, yet quite salty. And very, very funny. Stories that can only come from the wacky, cynical, not-right mind of a comedian/author you need to read to believe. This series does not need to be read in alphabetical order. Mix and match! I received a free copy of Marc Richard’s The Alphabet Books, which included the letters A through C. I wasn’t sure what to expect, except that it would be a very nontraditional take on some well-known tales. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at the experience.
‘A is for Adam’ is a hilarious (and irreverent) take on the creation story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the Fall when they disobeyed instructions not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and the aftermath. If you’re the pious type, you’ll probably not want to read this story. It will surely offend you. If, on the other hand, you appreciate good satire and fantastic writing, read on.
‘B is for Bear’ is the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears reimagined as an encounter between a mob family and a conniving blackmailer.
The final story in this trilogy, ‘C is for Cookie’, has Hansel and Gretel as long-haul truckers delivering a load of strange cookies to a witchy baker who lives in a house made of all kinds of sweets.
Unless your funny bone has been surgically removed, you’ll be unable to resist laughing as you read this trilogy of funky fairy tales brought to you by an author who had to have been nibbling at some of the witch’s cookies as he wrote.
Funny, fabulously funny, from the first page to the last.

A
At first I thought what a strange book this is, then I got intrigued and lastly I was surprised by the ending.
There's so much funny stuff in here!

I'm a fan of the goat by the way and love the references to his lyrics!

I think this version is way better than the one in the bible.
If you get easily offended and believe everything that is written in that book to be true? Don't read this.
Everyone else with an open mind? Definitely read this!

B
This one has a bit more of a serious tone to it but you probably won’t notice it until the epilogue.
Definitely still full of humor though and worth reading!

C
This book is a bit gruesome, very unpredictable and very funny at the same time!

I read A is for Adam first; this one couldn't be more different, except for the humor in it.
That's just as good!

I received a free copy and this is my honest review.

Talk about one of the wildest collections of stories, Marc Richard definitely does it with this ABC book. I could barely read A as I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes, as it is definitely not "the" religious telling of Adam and Eve, for sure. The other two stories were as different as they could be from one another as well, and made for a short entertaining read in all. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

This is a collection of three fairy tale type stories intended for adult readers. They are set up like the type of kids books that feature a short verse or story for each letter of the alphabet. The three stories are "A is for Adam", "B is for Bear", and "C is for Cookie".

"A is for Adam" is the story of Adam and Eve, their fall from the Garden of Eden, and the real reason they should have avoided the Tree of Knowledge. "B is for Bear" is a retelling of the fairy tale, "Goldilocks and the Three Bears ". The twist is that Papa Bear is a big , hairy gay Mafia Don (Bear is slang for a gay man that is big and hairy.) and Goldilocks is a spoiled rich girl that has it out for him.
"C is for Cookie" reimagines Hansel and Gretel as long haul truckers delivering some very strange cookies to a witch.

The stories aren't bad. They are fast reads and are fairly funny for the most part. The only problem is that each of the stories seems t go just a liitle too far. Not miles past the point of where they stop being amusing, just a little too far. Like that final straw that breaks the camel's back, or maybe a couple of handfuls of straw.

I did get a free copy as part of a giveaway in exchange for an honest review. I would rate the overall collection as 3.5 to 3.75 so rounding it up to 4.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader copy.

This book is most definitely not for the faint of heart. It's the very dark side of comedy and I'm sure some stiff collar out there will take great offense.

A is for Adam. This is one version of the creation story I'm sure no one has heard until now. To be fair Adam and Eve took turns irritating me with their dialogue but all in all it was really creative. However, for the staunchly religious who don't hold up with any satire centered around the Bible, maybe y'all should just skip this one.

B is for Bear. This was kind of a disturbingly twisted tale of mafia love and revenge. I felt kind of bad for Jimmy at the end but at the same time he kind of had it all coming to him.

C is for Cookie. Then our author ends it all with a freakishly fractured fairy tale. Hansel and Gretel become truck drivers hauling some possessed cookies to the witch in a house built of cookies. This was really just disgusting from the time they got to the initial pickup to the end…

None of the stories are related except for that they are full of shock factor. Richard put a lot of creative effort into this and I applaud that, even if I am quite a bit disturbed.

4 stars.

This is really a strange book --- the beginning of it reminded me kind of like "Adam and Eve" by Mark Twain but as it kept going …. It was very satirical and then, in my mind, turned into complete horror but, the ending made me chuckle so, I enjoyed it!

Not Kindle Unlimited, IS NOW, actually got this as a freebie 3 pack from one of my sites and have been wanting to read these.

A is for Adam -- and not really the story you heard about in the Bible, and definitely not the ending.
B is for Bear -- 3 {Italian} mobsters and Blondie, even close to the fairy tale told of Goldilocks.
C is for Cookie -- Hansel and Gretel, sort of but not really; truck drivers delivering sweets.

A - Just why and how did Adam {and Eve aka riblet} get kicked out of the Garden of Eden, and what happened afterwards, and just how many kids did they go on to have? How hot is Iraq?

B - Mafia guys legit business. laundromats, restaurants, night clubs, assassins-for-hire, birthday clowns, etc. Then of course real money makers with definitely not legitimate businesses. And there are bears and 'bears', and spolt Marguerite aka Blondie who thrills to B&E. Never ends well.

C -- “Yeah, well be careful. You know what happened to Gene Wilder.” “He turned into Johnny Depp and ruined a perfectly good movie?” she asked. “Exactly. Friggin’ Tim Burton..... I remember the story of Hansel and Gretel; didn't like it. This is not 'the' Hansel and Gretel, and it's amusing.

"Let's start at the beginning..."
The first three of Marc Richard's alphabetical trip through rewriting old myths, legends and fairytales sees a modernisation of Hansel and Gretel, Goldilocks and Adam and Eve. But each story is turned on it's head as Mr.Richards imagination takes us to a twisted world where even the cookies bite back! Great fun, but be warned: these biscuits won't be to everyone's taste.
My thanks to the author whose A, B, C. books have brought laughter into even the dreary days. This bundle is the best way to catch up before 'D' is upon us. Buy, try and enjoy

I won't rate this compilation as it seems that my grasp of the finer points of the English language aren't sufficient to get some of the humour here.
I really liked A is for Adam, but B and C just left me wondering what the point of the stories was.
