Guilt. Pain. Emptiness. My life changed one year ago. I don’t have the strength to pull myself from the darkness. Until him. He wasn’t supposed to mean anything to me. He wasn’t supposed to happen. But it did. And he is everything. I’m scared and vulnerable. He wants to pick up my broken pieces. But I don’t know how. Without letting him into my heart.
I'm not going to rate this. I read the whole thing but honestly, I don't know if I liked it or hated it. It's insta-love on steroids but then it's not. I'm not sure what it is.
Chase was great. He pretty much did everything right as far as I'm concerned. Chase was all in and he was there when Landon needed him no questions asked. But I hated Landon, well pretty much until the last few chapters, which were the best part of the whole book IMO.
Landon was a selfish whiny brat who ran. And ran. And ran. Every time something happened he wasn't comfortable with he ran. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate runners? No? Well I FUCKING HATE runners.
So, you're uncomfortable suddenly being into a man and people finding out. Should you leave a great guy because of it? Or work through your shit?
So, you're sad your father passed away and it's obvious you're depressed and think you don't deserve to be happy. Should you leave a great guy because of it? Or seek help?
So, you're partner has a dangerous job. Should you tell him to quit or leave him because of it and you're afraid of losing him? OR DO YOU NEED TO DEAL WITH YOUR SHIT?
Every motherfluffin' time Landon was uncomfortable or sad or down on himself he ran away. Ugh!
And the thing is I never understood exactly why he ran away. I just could not see his reason that all of a sudden he's going to run. I mean there were issues that needed to be dealt with. He was obviously depressed but he needed to seek help. He needed a grief counselor. But he kept acting like he didn't deserve to be happy and loved. I just did not get that at all.
I kept hoping Chase would get tired of his shit and say "See ya". So, I'm going to say "See ya" to this book and move on.
There was one thing that I absolutely loved about this, this quote.
It doesn’t matter how you bring a child into this world, whether it’s by blood or not. There is something so extraordinary in knowing that you get to be a parent.
I adored both Chase and Landon. This is the first MM I’ve read by this author and it was HOT!! The sex scenes are plenty and the chemistry between the two comes off the pages.
Of course this book has the characters from the previous stories throughout as they’re all friends and family. I love a series like that the best. Each book becomes an extended epilogue for previous couples as we get to see how their lives are moving forward and anyone that knows me knows what an epilogue whore I am lol.
And the actual epilogue to this story was amazing. I’m sad to see this series end but I’m looking forward to what Heather Lyn brings in the future.
Let me start this by saying Heather truly out did herself with this book. Landon and Chase' s story was just so beautiful, I don't know if my review will do justice. I was never one for M/M stories. I loved this one. The love scenes alone were just so beautiful. really erotic. But I believe my favorite part was acceptance. Living your life a certain way o my to discover you were meant to be with someone else.. ..A must read
When I found out that Heather was bringing out Landon's book I was like yes we get to find out more about him.
Then I found out it was going to be a M/M book.. I've never found a decent one to read before. But let me tell you... when Heather started posting scenes from the book on Facebook I was like HOLY HELL THIS SHIT IS HOT!!!
I was getting more and more excited to get my hands on it!!
I then got the ARC and god did I fall head over heels in love with the story.
YES I cried ALOT. The whole story played with my heart so much and made me an emotional wreck.
But Landon & Chase.. Gahhhh these 2 bloody characters... I love them so much ♡♡
Landon ♡ So heartbroken, lost and sad. He lost the person he loved and looked up to so much. But then he meets Chase ♡
Chase ♡ Funny and loving yet doesnt take no shit!! He's so sad with losing someone he loved so so much. Then he meets Landon and HOT DAMN ♡
There's that one scene where I ugly cried so hard!! It reminded me of my Gran so much and I couldnt help the damn tears.
☆☆☆☆☆ I'm giving 5 more stars because I think this book deserves so much more than 5 stars.
From the first book to this I have been on such a rollercoaster. Happy and sad tears to laughing so bloody much. Then when I needed to fan myself when things got hot and steamy because holy hell they did...alot.
Heather I LOVE YOU SO MUCH you did such an amazing job with this and I told you not to be scurrrred and nervous ♡♡♡♡
Landon is broken & being self destructive. His father passed away & he feels guilty for not being a better son. During one of his evenings out, he meets Chase. They become instant friends & Landon offers to help him do some work on his house. The next day they get to work on Chase's house & they both feel the chemistry between them. Landon has to figure out to give in or ignore it...... It is a sweet, sexy, swoony read!! Chase is a wonderful character & I absolutely loved how he could give Landon what he needed always. There is angst, sexy alpha males & hot steamy love making so how can this book be anything but wonderful!!! Can Landon figure out his path & forgive himself so he can move forward with Chase?
Received this as ARC Unexpected Flames So excited to read Landon and chase story this book hits you hard like an emotional roller coaster heather lyn is an incredible author.. Landon and chase are an amazing couple I am so happy they found eachother without any spoilers be sure to have tissues lots of them haha..still loved to hear about the guys and the girls you will laugh and bawl it will always warm your heart heather you did it again with an amazing book this is by far my favorite series and second M/M book freaking love you
Wow I honestly don't know where to begin with my review....
When I first heard about this book, I was a little unsure but very excited, I had never read a M/M book before and wasn't sure how I would get on with it, but knowing what Heathers other books are like, I knew it would be fantastic....well the whole book blew me away!!
This book will stay with me forever, I absolutely loved how you honestly felt what the characters where feeling, the story pulled you in and you went through every emotion going with them. I laughed and I cried with this book so much, my heart broke for this pair.
Landon and Chase have both suffered a similar loss in there lives, an unexpected meetings and these 2 instantly feel an attraction to each other, they both go through so much ups and downs, Landon has a way of pushing Chase away......after over coming his demons of his feelings, this pair find there way to honest true love and you find yourself smiling so so so much with them. I absolutely loved how it all ended, I am such a romantic at heart and this is without a doubt a honest true love story.
I absolutely love Heathers books and can not wait to see what more amazing stories she gives us. Definitely 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read...if I could give more I would.
Landon since.he lost his father has blame himself for not being the son he should have in his dad's last month's. Carrying that guilt has him pulling.away from his family and friends. One night out at a bar he meets Chase, that meeting will not only change Landon but Chase life too. This is a story that is about Love is Love. Landon has to learn to lean on others especially the man who has his heart. I don't want to.leak any spoilers so I totally recommend this book.
I have just finished this book and talk about a roller coaster, I have used nearly a box of tissues it Heathers best book so far, I held my breathe when they separated, I cried when they were waiting to see if Aubrey would wake, I cried again when they both held baby Millie, and I sobbed when they got Hope, it was just so good all the way through and I wasn't too sure at first I havnt read a book before involving a gay couple but my word I certainly recommend it
DNF. Seriously rushed and ridiculous plotting. Not for me.
Really, not much else to add. Insta ridiculous plotting to get these guys in the same room together than insta straight guy to "I have to inappropriately kiss him right now even though I have alway identified as straight and I have no idea if he is gay and I just met him last night", insta quit this book, it's not for me.
Prior to this I had read all of the books in this series and was in love with all of Heather Lynn’s characters and the world that she had created with them in it. This year was my year of firsts until this book, I had never read a book with M/M but I had loved all of Heather’s other characters, so I was excited to read this book. Heather Lynn did not disappoint with Landon and Chase’s love story. It was so beautifully written and the characters faced so much just to be together. Landon was still dealing with the loss of his dad, and he was blaming himself, for not being the son that he knew his dad wanted him to be during the last months of his father’s life. He however, meets chase one night while he is out at a bar. That meeting is one that will change both Landon and Chase forever. The way the love scenes were written were just beautiful and you could feel that the love they had for one another was honest and beautiful! This of the better books I have read this year! This book had me in tears at times. This book is amazing and a book that I would recommend it shows that love has no limits and these two are just along for the ride once they fall in love!
Landon and Chase’s story is one that will stay with you long after you finish their book. Thank you Heather Lynn for writing an amazing story!
Heather did an amazing job on this MM story .. The hurt Landon is dealing with then to find himself falling for Chase throws him off and he doesn't really know how to handle anything.. Chase gives him the space and time but after how long will Chase just say he isn't waiting? When Landon needs him the most Chase is there. This is an amazing story about falling in love no matter the gender.. Your heart wants what your heart wants.
I knew after reading the others in the series that Landons story was going to a rollercoaster of emotions but you captured it brilliantly!
Choosing Chase as his love interest was genius! Having the contrast of Chase's confidence and Landons vulnerability makes this such a great read!
There are certain parts of the story which are very personal to me so when reading those parts I really connected with the emotion and yes you made me cry!! Lol
I have read M/M before and enjoyed them and this is one of my favourites!!
Definite 5 star MUST READ!!!!!!!

You meet Landon in book 1 of the Hearts on Fire Series and you connect with him instantly. You watch him go through all the heart ache from book 1 to book 3 while learning falling in love with the other members. Then you finally get your hands on Landon's book and your left with your mouth hanging open. The emotions Ms. Lyn has placed within the pages of this book will leave you sniffling and pushing to read more. You will not be able to put this book down once you start. A MUST READ!
I stumbled on this book by accident, I am so glad that I did. Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. So many emotions came from their book. From both Landon and Chase. I spent the first half of the book wanting to slap Landon and the next part falling in love with him. 2 broken souls come together and help heal each other. Beautiful story.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book releases on June 28.
I had mixed feelings about this book, prior to reading it, because the author was clear and upfront that it is a M/M romance story. It's not something that I've read much of in the past, but I decided to read it because the other books in the series were positively amazing. Right from the beginning, the feelings in this book smack you in the face. The grief and guilt Landon feels about his father are so overwhelming, that I felt sorrow for him and found myself wanting to fix it for him. There was also confusion, and hurt, and anger, as well as fear and all kinds of other feelings floating around this book. There were tense moments, moments of wonder, and times I couldn't believe what had just happened. My emotions ran the gamut, which is the sign of an amazing story, to me.
Yes, this is the story of a same sex couple, and there is sex involved. However, that takes a backseat to the story of the love that the couple shares, and it becomes less about a same sex couple and becomes more about the story of just Landon and Chase. It was a beautiful story!
Wow. Heather Lyn has knocked it out of the park with this book. I absolutely adore Chase and sweet, damaged Landon. Those boys broke my heart so many times. But they also fixed it. This book was the perfect ending to this series. I can't praise Heather enough for the wonderful way she handled several tough subject matters. This woman amazes me with each book she releases and this was no different. I look forward to reading many, many more amazing books in the future.
Landon's father passed away a year ago and he still has trouble dealing with the loss. He goes to work each morning , feeling empty inside. He is thrilled for his sister who recently got married and is expecting a baby. He just wants to be happy, too. Chase is a firefighter, who is always smiling and has a sexy, raspy voice. He lost his mom 16 years, and he misses her every day. After a hard day at work, Landon needed to relax and unwind, so he went to the bar down the street from his house. It was really busy when he got there, so the guy next to him pounded on the bar until the bartender took their order. They exchanged names and his new friend ,Chase, attempted to talk to him. Landon thanked him for the beer, but told him he just wanted to be alone. Chase had spotted Landon the moment he walked into the bar. From his tousled hair, to his tight Levi's and bright blue eyes. Wow, he was beautiful, Chase thought. Landon finally relaxed , bought Chase a beer, and found out the house he was renting needed some work. Landon, who owns a construction company, agreed to help him. Landon and Chase began working on the house. Landon found himself admiring everything about Chase and he was confused as to why he found him so attractive. He felt a connection to him that he didn't understand. He had always dated women before. One day at the house, Landon found Chase staring at him and he couldn't control his feelings anymore. He reached for Chase, pulling him towards him and crushed his lips into his. The heat of the kiss was intoxicating and they couldn't get enough of each other. Chase was in heaven. He was so happy that Landon had feelings for him. He had known right away that Landon was the one for him. Was is too much to hope that they could have a future together? Will Landon run from the feelings he has for Chase because he is afraid to be with him? Can Chase reassure Landon that their love was meant to be? "Unexpected Flames" is the final book in the Hearts on Fire Series, which I highly recommend. I fell in love with this book right away! Heather describes her characters so precisely, that you can feel the connection between them in your heart. Landon and Chase's journey is passionate and full of hope for the future. I cried, I laughed and I didn't want the story to end. I am looking forward to Heather's next book, "Stay With Me", the first book in her new Taphouse Blues Series.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
"You were never supposed to mean anything to me, but that's changed now. Now you're everything."
Well, I've reached the end of the series. I started book 1 exactly one week ago today, and I'm so in love with these stories that I had no choice but to start the next books one after another. It was like chain-smoking, but with reading! I loved this whole series (obviously) but this last installment was my favorite!
Landon Stevens is lost. After losing his father the year before, he is struggling to move on. Then he meets Chase, and his life is sent into a tailspin. Never has he felt this connection with the women he's been with, let alone another man. But Chase is different. He's everything Landon could want - or even need. But, Landon doesn't deserve happiness after what he did. No matter how much he pushes Chase away, he keeps fighting back. Can Landon finally come to terms with what all of this means? Can he accept what Chase has to offer and put the past behind him? Will it take a tragedy to bring them together at last?
Chase Matthews has never hidden who he was - not to anyone. Meeting Landon was the best thing that's happened to him. The attraction was instant, but Landon's holding back - pushing him away. For every step forward, Landon pushes 5 steps backward. He knows Landon is it for him. Now, he just has to convince Landon to let go of his insecurities and just be happy. He'll fight for love, no matter what, but everyone has their limit. Should Chase cut his losses now, or wait for Landon to realize that he deserves to be happy....with him.
As you can tell, this is an M/M story. If this is not for you, that's perfectly fine. Just take a pass on it. But, I will tell you , there is more love, perseverance, hotness and steam built into this one than most other romance stories. I loved it!! #LoveIsLove
I’m going to say 3.5 stars for this one. I’ve devoured this series over the last week and while the authors writing style is still a bit wordy, I recognize that she is fairly new and I’m so impressed that this is her first series!
I wanted to love this book as much as the previous three but I just couldn’t get there. The second half of the book is way better than the first but I honestly couldn’t stand Landon. I get the emotions but dude really needed to talk to a counselor or something. Chase was AMAZING and I feel like Landon was all or nothing for the majority of the book. He was very emotionally immature.
Chase, however, is quite possibly one of my favorite characters in the entire series. He was patient, sweet, loving, and everything anyone could want. The book was heavy on the heat which was well written & flowed into the story seamlessly.
If it wasn’t for my feelings toward Landon, this would be a 4.5 star read. It’s definitely still worth reading, I just couldn’t get past his character.
If you don't read M/M books then you're missing out on some amazing stories! Heather Lyn wrote a phenomenal story of love, loss, forgiveness and hope! I bonded with Landon from the start, the pain, guilt and anger he feels over his father dying is something I know about first hand. He feels numb and just goes through the motions until Chase comes along and makes him start to feel again! Chase is the perfect balance for Landon and they form a bond that can't be broken, even when they are being stubborn! Chase shows Landon that it's okay to be vulnerable with him because he will be strong for Landon. Chase knows how it feels to lose a parent and he just wants to be there for Landon and help him grieve and let go so he can live again and be happy! I adore all of the characters in the Hearts on Fire series! I look forward to reading what Heather Lyn comes up with next!!
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review!
I have been a big lover of this series but this book is the ultimate book in the series. This book reflects how the author has poured every inch of her soul into Landon and Chase's story. Their story will break you in so many ways, it will tear your heart and your soul apart as you suffer along with these two but believe me the devastation will be worth every tear. Landon and Chase's journey is not an easy one as Landon tries to get out from underneath the grief and guilt he suffers from his father's death along with understanding why it is a man that holds the key to his heart instead of a woman. Every tear you cry for these two will be overshadowed by the huge smiles that they will bring you and the love you will hold in your heart for these two characters. I wish it was possible to rate this book with more than five stars as it deserves so much more.
We are blessed to live in a society where the people you love will be accepting of your love. Most.... This story was beautifully written from page one to the very end. Heather has given us a story of two men who have gone thru life in different yet similar ways. To finding each other two list souls who become one. Sexually emotionally and physically. Landon can not live life because of his guilt from losing his father. Chase is dealing with his life losing his mom at a young age. Both very much alone in life. Common threads keep bringing them together. Until each man learns to live life together and apart . Finding your soul mate isn't always that easy or as planned. When you do your heart sings no matter what . Going thru life as a couple thru all life throws at you.
Whew!! This is overall a beautiful story of finding your other half while healing from grief. It's also very, very spicy (🔥🔥🔥)!
I love Chase! His open heart, his patience, and his strength. I love Landon, too, but I also spent a lot of time wanting to smack the dude. He is back & forth so much, for so many reasons, Chase is a saint for not giving up on him. Oy.
Once Landon allows himself to heal from the feelings & darkness causing him to run from Chase at the drop of a hat, I was able to enjoy him more. He, too, has a huge heart full of love for his family, friends, and Chase. Once he let himself embrace all that love, he was able to truly heal & be the man Chase fell in love with! 😁
There is absolutely nothing bad that I can say about this book, except that it is the final book in the set. It was absolutely amazing. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw my Kindle at times but I got through it. Heather Lyn is an amazing author and I definitely can not wait to read more from her. Landon & Chase were meant to be together, they deserved to both be happy and in love. I am so glad they got their happily ever after. Yes they had to go through so many ups and downs to get it and they both had a lot to heal from but in the end true love prevailed and they are so happy together with Hope. I loved it and wish that I could erase it from my mind so I could read it over again like it was the first time that I read it. Yes, it was that damn good and I definitely need more.
Unexpected Flames spoke to my heart. I have been following this series from the beginning and all the hot fire fighters have a special place in my go to reads but Chase and Landon are swoon worthy. This book had all my emotions on alert. I was angry and sad but could always feel rawness of it all. I would give it ten stars if I could. Great read be prepared to let your emotions roll. Two hot guys, two big hearts, and one great story.

Love is love and you'll never put a label on it. Omg!!!! You lady you own my heart!!! This book took me to places where I was alone with my one mind. To think that we all deserved love and that pain will forever be a part of us. But we are stronger, survivors and fighters. This book was AMAZING! And I don't know how can I put in words. I'm broken... but I know I'll heal. Loved this book, excuse me while I go to cry in a corner for so much love, yes! Happy tears
What can I say but I loved this book. I fell in love with Landon in book one and Chase in book 3. Any man who could stand up (well put him in his place) to Grayson had my heart lol.
Being the first mm book I read I was not disappointed.
Great ending to a great series which I read in 4 days. Yes 1 book a day for 4 days. I can't remember when I last did that.
