258p paperback with white and red cover, very good condition, some light tanning to covers, binding firm, pages clear and bright like new, maps very clear and sharp, excellent copy of the first paperback edition
This book makes for light reading as it written in an easy going style and yet it covers the principal historical events of the islands. I do get the sneaking suspicion though, that since the author is British, events under the British rule tend to get a rosier depiction.
A very easy-reading style covering a complex history of such a small island nation. It's a good read and covers most aspects for those ignorant of the story. The Order obviously gets the most coverage having occupied Malta for the longest. I'd say the 20th Century is light on detail and feels a little rushed. Other than that a solid introduction to a wonderful island.
