Since the night her dear uncle gave his life for hers, Hannah Young is determined to risk everything by spying for the Patriots in order to seek retribution against the British soldier who killed him. But when her former love, Joseph Wythe, insists on ensuring her safety, she must decide if the vengeance she seeks is worth the danger of his nearness. For the love she once felt is liable to grow deeper and more threatening to her heart than it ever was before.

Leaving his young ward to join the fight for liberty is the hardest thing Joseph Wythe has ever done. Nearly. The most difficult happened ten years past, which he tries his best forget. Seeing Hannah Young again after all this time does something frightening and wonderful to his soul. Though her determination to spy for the Patriots is honorable and brave, he will never allow her to take such a risk without him to protect her, no matter how she protests—and no matter how he knows he will ache all the more for the thing he always wanted and still could never have.

I've loved the Daughters in His Kingdom series, and this book is a perfect addition as the memorable characters become involved in the Revolutionary War and fight for liberty and independence. The tension and suspense is seriously ramped up in this book since the two main characters, Hannah and Joseph, are involved in espionage and the risks are greater than ever. I absolutely loved the setting and era, and reading this story made me want more- to find some real life accounts of Patriots to study. The language the author uses for her characters and narration reflects the era while still remaining easy to understand. I believe that plays a large part in feeling transported to the time and place of the story, and I felt an instant connection to the characters and their strong emotions during such a turbulent time. The romantic tension between Hannah and Joseph is off the hook and while their bittersweet past brings plenty of angst, there are also moments and scenes of sweetness and happiness from their relationship. I feel like the message of patriotism and taking a stand for what we believe is more pertinent than ever in our day, and I appreciate the profound thoughts of the characters as they discover what the cause means to them and what they are willing to risk for it.

The Revolutionary War is a time in history that is very interesting and I haven't really given a lot of thought to how it affected every day people. This is Book 4 in the series and I haven't read the others yet, but it stood alone nicely. I am going to go back and read those though, since it is fascinating.

This author does a great job of telling a tale, weaving fact with fiction, in a way that is both educational and entertaining. The characters are richly written and come to life through their challenges, secrets, and trials. I honestly couldn't be a spy, yet the strength and bravery that Joseph and Hannah exhibit is heartwarming and encouraging.

As anyone who knows me knows, I love a good romance and this one shows a couple who was once in love and was driven apart, only to be thrust together again in dire circumstances, having to trust and support one another in order to stay alive. Joseph and Hannah's romance is tender and sweet, yet also exudes a few sparks of clean passion.

This story has an underlying current of religion, which I feel was a very important thing at this time of history. A big reason people came to America was for religious freedom. The religious aspects aren't overwhelming, but they play a big part in shaping the characters. This is a great historical fiction series.

Content: mild romance (kissing with a few sparks, implied premarital relationship); mild violence (it's war); moderate religious elements (not necessarily preachy, but important for character growth).

*I received a copy, which did not affect my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own.*

I can't even begin to say how much I love this series. I'm going about reading it a bit backwards, but thankfully each book can stand on it's own enough that I don't feel lost or confused by reading them this way. I read the first book on the recommendation of another reviewer/blogger friend that I have- and LOVED it. I picked up the next book but didn't have time to read it when I saw this book come up for review. I jumped at the chance because I knew it was going to be good. So, I've read the first book and the fourth book- not the best plan but I'm looking forward to the second and third book.

I love historical fiction. It's one of my favorite genres. This series is set around the revolutionary war and it's full of intrigue, drama and emotion. This book had a fantastic build up. There were moments where my heart was beating hard but then there would be a sweet lull, only to bring me back to the building sense of dread. By the last third of the book I was almost desperate. It's crazy how invested I was in these characters and what was going on. I loved it! I loved it.

This is a series I would highly recommend- especially if you love historical fiction. I can't wait to read the next book! What a very talented author.

Content: Some violence, death, mention of sex outside of marriage resulting in a pregnancy with no details. Some Christian elements- praying, forgiveness.

-I received a copy of this book free in conjunction with this tour. All opinions expressed are my own.

Well, I was going to wait and post my review but Hannah, Joseph, and Philo just couldn't wait.
I burnt some midnight oil and had book hangovers at work because i just couldn't put their story down!!!
This powerful novel has some awesome twists and turns that will want you to keep turning the pages just like it did me!!!
I literally just could've choked and shook Philo to his senses!!
For a father, he was pretty shelfish (just like my own father)! All he thought about was himself!!!
His brother was interesting as well!
I do have a superhero in this book. His name is Captain Higley. He has a heart of gold and you will see why when you decide to pick up this book and read it for yourself.
Hannah and Joseph are two people that I very much in getting to know. If I could travel back in time I'd love to meet them personally to shake their hands.
Amber has put her heart and soul into this beautiful book. I sensed this right off. I love her stories! She is on my list to add to favorite authors and I look forward to her next book!
I loved this book because sometimes it is hard to accept what blessings that is given to you until its too late!! I enjoyed watching these characters change and grow throughout this novel.
Thank you Hannah and Joseph for a very interesting story!
Thank you Amber for writing a wonderful book and i am looking forward to the next one!!!!

I absolutely loved this book! The theme of love and second-chances is beautifully told in the midst of the turmoil of the Revolutionary War. The author creates characters that are easy to love and the story flows. Amber Lynn Perry is an amazing writer and I eagerly await all of her books!

Although this is the 4th book in a series it could be read as a stand alone. I love the mix of romance, history, espionage and adventure the author has blended together. All of these factors make for an excellent story. I also must note that this book is a clean read. I feel Amber Lynn Perry's writing improves with each new book she writes. You won't be disappointed with this one.

“And you will surely be protected, my dear. For God cannot but shelter one with so pure a heart.”
-Willis Plains, Patriot

In this fourth novel in the series, Amber Lynn Perry continues her captivating tales set during the Revolutionary War. The war is under way in Plymouth, Massachusetts and weapons are in short supply for both sides thus making Ensign Young’s foundry a desirable place for the Patriots and Loyalists. Hannah Young, Ensign’s niece, is a lovely young woman who lives with her Uncle and late aunt as a result of a difficult home life.

The book follows the story of Hannah and Joseph Wythe, a young blacksmith, as they meet again for the first time in many years. Thrown together in a complex situation, Hannah and Joseph engage in a serious and deadly game of spying for the Patriots. Intrigue, politics, war, family relationships, and the cost of honesty are explored in this tale.

Many of my favorite characters have appeared again in this fourth novel, Nathaniel and Kitty from book two, as well as Anna and Henry from the last book. Their wonderful Patriot spirits shine through once again.

The historical detail in Ms. Perry’s novels always draws me deep into the time period. The accounts of Patriot spying are true to life and based on historical facts, even though the actual story is fiction. Faith, love, and a dedication to freedom are the pillars of the story set once again during a complex time in history.

A wonderful read for lovers of historical fiction, inspirational fiction, and romance! And if you are like me and are looking forward to the next one, So Bright a Hope, Book Five, appears to be in the works already.

This ARC copy was received from Liberty Publishing and the author in exchange for an honest review. The above thoughts and opinions are wholly my own.

Amber Lynn Perry is an amazing storyteller when it comes to writing the American Revolution. She is right up there with Lori Benton, Joan Hochstetler, and many others! She writes with passion and heart.

What is an American Revolutionary book without action, twists, plots – the pages (uh my finger) kept swiping away so I can quickly read the book!

Joseph and Hannah are amazing in this story. I absolutely loved them!!

I will definitely be rereading this story again and again! Maybe with some more peanut chocolate M & M’s.

"Whatever has happened between us, whatever has kept us apart, matters little when our hearts beat as one."

Incredibly romantic, the author of "So Pure a Heart" has skillfully tempered the realities of a brutal war for independence with the soft brush strokes of a love gone astray, only to be reunited under pretense and subterfuge. When Hannah Young and Joseph Wythe are paired to pose as cousins, sympathetic to the British cause, they embark on a treacherous path to freedom; using the strategic Eaton Hill estate and foundry, as a source for intelligence gathering.

Having been estranged for ten years following a youthful liaison, which drove Hannah to Eaton Hill and led Joseph to believe that she did not care for his company, the two slowly begin to make amends, digging deep underneath layers of misinformation, while cautiously allowing British officers to gain their trust. As their ploy becomes more and more dangerous, the one person who feels that he has the most to gain, may actually be the one who has the most to give.

This wonderful peek into our nation's tumultuous struggle for independence suggests characters such as these, who gave so much of themselves for our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. It was my pleasure to accept a copy of this book from the author, the opinions stated are entirely my own.

So Pure a Heart is book four from Amber Lynn Perry's Daughters of His Kingdom series. In this installment, once a couple, Joseph and Hannah meet up again and find themselves working together as spies for the Patriots during the Revolutionary War. I found this book to be rich in historical detail, full of intrigue, suspense, danger, faith, love, and action. Of course, I love this book! What more does a reader want in a novel?

So Pure a Heart reminds me once again why Amber Lynn Perry is among my favorite authors. If a reader loves writings by Laura Frantz, Jody Hedlund, and MaryLu Tyndall, then they will love this book and series. Highly highly recommended.

I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

So Pure a Heart, Book 4 of the Daughters of His Kingdom Series, by Amber Lynn Perry was a pleasure to read from the first sentence to the last. Though it is the fourth book in a series, it performs well as a stand-alone novel, and I was easily drawn into the story even though I have not yet read the three novels that have preceded it. So Pure a Heart may be the middle child in its family of novels, but it certainly deserves attention and accolades all its own.

This book abounds with beautifully descriptive sentences that beg to be savored like pieces of lush dark chocolate. Ms. Perry uses metaphors and similes like a skilled artist uses paint on canvas, bringing to life a richly detailed story with each carefully chosen word and phrase. This novel wrapped me securely in its warm embrace of descriptive storytelling, and I snuggled there deeply contented and satisfied.

Like a stream running through verdant woodland, the swiftly paced plot flowed deftly through intricate scenes of adventure, suspense, intrigue, romance, sacrifice, and redemption. The characters, authentic and multifaceted, were the gems within this treasure of a novel. Their fears, longings, convictions, and actions glowed brightly within their historical setting, and as a reader, I could not look away.

Within its pages, So Pure a Heart offers the reader an occasion of respite in a satisfying, fictional haven fashioned wholly from words woven together with finesse and devotion. It is a novel worthy of countless compliments and continuous attention. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

I was provided a copy of this book by the author. The review I have freely written, whether positive or negative, expresses opinions that are entirely my own.

"I would do anything for you. I would do it a thousand times over if I knew it would keep you from suffering" - Joseph Wythe

"So Pure A Heart" is a captivating story, sure to touch your heart and remind you of the greatest Love of all. From the very beginning I felt pulled into the mystery and intrigue in this delightful, page turning story. Often I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out what would happen next.

The story opens during the throws of the Revolutionary War. A tumultuous time, when being a Patriot could get you hung for treason and often the lines between friend and foe were blurred.

Hannah's bravery in the face of her deep loss, speaks volumes to her strength of character and her willingness to further a cause greater than herself.

Joseph is determined to put the needs of other's first, even at the risk to himself. He never stopped loving Hannah, even though it has been 10 years. He is determined to see that she is safe.

Hannah & Joseph's story is full of raw emotion, and I felt every heart-throbbing moment right along with them throughout this engaging book!

I enjoyed reading the previous three books in the Daughters of His Kingdom series and I am eagerly anticipating the next book.  Those new to the series won't feel like they are missing out if they start with this book, however, you won't want to miss the other stories as they are just as captivating as this one!

So Pure A Heart is the fourth book in the series by Amber Lynn Perry and this book is about Joseph and Hannah. They were once very much in love but was denied their relationship by Hannah's minister father. They are reacquainted ten years later to help spy in Washington's army of Patriots. This book tugged at my heart strings and kept me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed the book. If you enjoy history, suspense, and romance, then this book is for you.

So Pure A Heart is a literary and historical masterpiece! As I began to read the story I found myself immediately submerged in its pages. I was no longer part of this century, but was transported to the 18th century. The words, sentences, and paragraphs were woven together and made into delicious chapters that made up a story I will never forget. As I read I did not question the historical research that had been painstakingly done, nor the love that was poured into the work it took to write this story. Thank you, Amber, for another touching, lovely story that I know came from the depths of your heart!
Please, do yourself a favor, and get this book! I know you will not regret it! You will see it as I do. A gift from the author straight to her readers.

Even though this is the fourth book in a series and I had never before read any of Amber Lynn Perry's books, the description of this one appealed to me. My second favorite romance trope is first loves reunited, after all. I'm happy to say this book did not disappoint me.

Not once did I feel like I was missing out on a part of the story from the previous books (although, I did go back to look and see whose stories I'd missed). Plus readers get a little peek into the next couple in the series.

There are a few story lines entwined in this one: the reuniting of Hannah and Joseph (and talk about the tension between these two!), the secrets Joseph and Hannah are keeping from the British, the secrets Joseph and Hannah are keeping from each other, and more.

Perry captures the danger and intrigue of spying during this time while pouring so much heart into this story. There is a lot of hurts in both of these main characters' histories. Not only from each other but also from family members.

This one has a little bit of everything for any kind of reader: intrigue and danger, romance, and history. This may have been the first book I've read by this author but it is most definitely not the last.

Absolutely loved this book... I would say this is my second favorite of hers, the first being So Fair a Lady.

~* A List of my Thoughts *~

1} Loved the background relationship between Hannah and Joseph. I think it added a little bit more to the story, with them having history.

2} I missed not hearing anything from Eliza... She is my favorite character out of all of them so I would have liked to see how she was doing. ;)

3} The plot twists! I suspected one, but the other caught me completely by surprise!

4} Higley. I hope that perhaps we'll hear more from him soon?

5} Seriously romantic. It's super fluffy, but I don't care one bit. I know that if I need a good romance I can turn to these books to satisfy.

All in all, SO good!!

Oh my, how I love this series! Once again Perry has delivered a tale full of tender romance and stifling danger that kept me eagerly turning the pages! In my opinion, this novel is the most suspenseful and contains a greater edge of tension than other books in the series as the Patriot's cause escalates and draws the characters directly into harm's way. Hannah and Joseph's story is perhaps the most bittersweet of them all because of their heartbreaking history. From the moment the paths of these two cross again it is obvious the deep love and affection they still hold for one another. Their sweet journey to healing and the clear message that God's forgiveness and love can mend our foolish hearts makes this one of my favorites! Can't wait for Book 5!!

A Wonderful Story of Redemption

Amber Lyne Perry's "So Pure a Heart". It's set in Revolutionary War Massachusetts. It's an Outstanding, Page-Turning, Poignant, Christian Romantic Suspense, that I 📖 straight thru. You'll want to 📖 the "Daughters of His Kingdom" 📚 in Chronological Order to understand this 📗 Best.

God gives Joseph & Hannah a 2nd Chance at their Lifetime 💞. How do they work out their issues, & misunderstandings? Hannah's been estranged from her Father, since he kicked her out of her 🏠 10 yrs ago. When God fully opens her Father's eyes, to "really" see the Hannah, & the damage he'd done to her; what Act of Redemption does he do? I Highly Recommend You 📖 this 📗 to find the answers! ❤d the real, relatable Characters. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Book 4 in Daughters of His Kingdom beautifully lives up to the standard set in Books 1-3. Romance, lost love found again, danger, loss, mystery, intrigue....I love the way these books have of pulling you in so deep you forget who you are and where you are and you become so swept up in the story that when you’ve finished you’re left with this afterglow that lingers with you for some time. Amber Lynn Perry has a way of masterfully weaving words that somehow magically engages all of your senses and wraps around and entangles your heart...I am anxiously (and a bit impatiently) awaiting Book 5!

Engaging, romantic and suspenceful

I am loving this series!
This book told the story of Hannah and Joseph who were separated for years, but thrown together in a mission to supply information to Washington.
The suspence and tension of the spy angle off the story was very well paced. The love story was equally engaging. This series brings to life the heroic people who fought for the birth of our nation. Looking forward to the next story!

I enjoyed this story of Hannah and Joseph, as well as glimpses of other familiar characters. I could see that you could have read it as a stand alone story as well.
I found as I finished, I enjoyed how with each one, you get to know upcoming characters and look forward to their stories as well. It really felt like it gave an accurate view of how the settlers of early America lived on a daily basis, without giving you over the top history, but it is accurately woven into your fictional story.
