I just finished reading the UPDATED version of the book and let me tell you even re-reading book 23 wasn't a waste for me because it helped to further bring to light some of the things that I may have missed had I not re-read that book. The book opens up with a scene between Lorenzo and Guiseppe that really brings home the distinct characteristics of both of these men. We all know that Gio can be an a-hole but in this book, we are able to witness his vulnerability and understand where the not so pleasant personality that he wears around himself like body armor actually stems from. He wants the world to see him as this strong alpha-male and he is but at the same time he has insecurities, he wants to be loved, and most of all he wants the approval and love of his family. Lorenzo is fast becoming one of my favorites because again Ms. Frank allowed us to connect with him on a more personal level. Here we get to see the 'new blood' so to speak stepping up to the plate and carrying out the tasks that are needed for La Famiglia's protection. Even Sergio's appearance in the book solidified that he has now evolved from that little punk hoodlum that we were initially introduced to into a full-grown man that his father, Nico can stand tall and be very proud of. Shanda was Shanda what can I say but even with my misgivings of how she was going to be when she came back from the dead I can see growth and while she will always have some less than desirable personality traits(after all her and Gio are bat-sh** crazy LOL) she really showed her maturity by asking Geo to forgive Amelda. The old Shanda would have never admitted her part in that scheme. She would have allowed Amelda to carry that on her own so it was good to actually witness this new and improved Shanda. Now for my favorite couple in the whole wide world AL & SELANGE!!! God, I just love, love love, them. In this installment, Alfonzo in all of his perfection showed little cracks that are invariably there because he is a MAN (what can I say LMBO)! He wants with everything in him to protect his family but this same desire sometimes causes him to neglect the very one that is his piece of peace. We got to see this and Selange got a little bit of payback but when she recognized that her Al was in trouble she didn't take the low-road and continue being Ms. Petty Betty she immediately became his solace and welcomed him into her spirit so that she could infuse him with the life-giving glow that he needs to carry the weight of their family issues on his shoulders. I love them. I swear I really wish they were real people. Watching Selange talk to Sal and attempt to get across that some things are out of his father's control and feeling the weight that she carried being the wife of Alfonzo and the protector of her children was a stark eye-opener to what she herself has to go through on this journey. Seeing Al get into Sal's butt behind the stunt he pulled with Asante again solidified that he is an EXCELLENT father. There were so many elements in this book and truthfully I will be re-reading this one over and over again. Kudos Ms. Frank I think I've found my new favorite in the series. I can't wait for the next installment. I truly see myself reading this series until I'm old and gray!!!

Every time Alfonzo and his family thinks they can finally exhale, some new threat comes along and attempts to steal their peace of mind. In Autonomy, the family is still reeling from the latest attempt to pull the rug from under them. Alfonzo is just fed up and decides to take things into is his own hands. The question is, does his good intentions lead to the outcome he's hoping for? Nico is out of commission for awhile, or so his enemies think. Will Nico be able to sit on the sideline, and let someone protect him for a change, or will he do what he's always done, put the family first? Giuseppe is trying to put his family back together, but his pride may get in the way. Will Ge be able to be the bigger man this time around? All these questions and so many more are answered in volume 25, so you'll have to get your copy to find out because I'm not telling (: . What I will tell you is that if you love Alfonzo and the gang as much as I do, you won't want to miss this one. There is always a great adventure to enjoy when you ride along with The Giacanti's and Autonomy did not disappoint. I'm already looking forward to volume 26. I give this one 5 stars.

The next book should already be here.

These books are written like tv series. Except each book comes out months instead of every week. I think author needs to promote re-reads of the previous books when the next one comes out. Have discussion chats because I have a hard time remembering a lot of things that took place before.

There are definitely changes happening amongst this clan. The people who are making the biggest change are Al and Sal and not for the better. Geo and Shanda are heading in the opposite direction, next stop, maturity! While I was getting everything I wanted for a long term villain with The Princessa, that ended lol I need this group to be challenged. Scandal storyline needs to happen or something.

I will read the next book.

Hhhmmm

I loved the wrap up of the Princessa problem. But I have to say that this one seemed rushed. S. W. is always great with details and descriptions but this was not the caliber of writing I've become used to. I have read this entire series and own most of the books to it. The writing seemed a bit off and the editing is the worst of all in the series. I gave it 4 stars because outside of what I have come to expect as far as writing style and editing, the story was good...just rushed.

Awesomeness.....

Another awesome book by the author. I'm never disappointed when I one-click any of her books. It's never a dull moment in the Diaz-Giacanti family, I love catching up with my famiglia.
I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read. Just be sure to start from the beginning.

Slightly Disappointed

This book does not read like an S.W. Frank novel. It seemed rushed and thrown together. Really hope the next installment is better.

I emailed the author and requested a refund from Amazon for this because I thought I was losing it thinking I'd read this one before and I was correct, this is just a repeat of book 23. I purchased this in advance but I'm not wasting money on something I already own, the artwork on the cover is alright but I'd rather have the story.

( Updated review)
Already a frustrated so this review is going to show it. With all the problems that I had trying to get this one and not that mess that came with the preorder I was disappointed with the read. The story felt off, the characters didn't seem the same so the connection I usually put with the characters wasn't there. It seemed like too much fluff going on and the little action that took place lasted all of two-three page turns. I'm hoping the next one will get me back into the series.

The Princessa gets here finally

Renalda was spoiled and selfish from childhood. All of her plotting and scheming did not pay off.

Geo and Shanda finally get to go on their honeymoon. And Sal takes his bestman roll a little too seriously. Nico is on the mind from almost dying and refuses to retire. Thank goidness, the family needs him.

I've read all of the Alfonzo books in the series and I've invested time and effort getting to know the characters that I have come to love. This book has me feeling some kind of way as I just don't care for these short novellas the author is now doing. This book just did not feel complete. Too much was rushed through. I'm not feeling this book at all. Sorry!
