The Shifters #4

Porter's Mate

Rate this book
Wolf shifter, Porter Burke, isn’t interested in finding his mate, until the night the fragile and frightened human walks into his bar and asks for his help. She’s a complication he doesn’t need, but resisting her plea for help and the unexpected payment she offers for his protection proves much harder than he thought.

Maggie Wallace is in trouble. A hyena shifter wants her, and when his obsession with her turns dangerous, she’s forced to make a drastic decision. Alone and desperate, she makes the wolf shifter she’s just met an offer she hopes he can’t refuse.

With the help of his brother’s security company, Porter promises to keep Maggie safe. Pretending to be her mate is surprisingly easy. But with each passing day, their mutual attraction grows stronger and soon Maggie’s sweet kisses have his wolf howling to claim her as his mate for real.

Author’s “Porter’s Mate” is Book Four in The Shifters Series. Although it is a stand-alone story, I would recommend reading the first three books in the series. Please note that this book contains steamy and explicit scenes and may not be your cup of tea.

I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book. Loved Porter in previous books so I'm excited to see him in action. This book can be enjoyed solo but I would suggest reading 1-3 because I think you'll love it 10 times more and understand the other characters. This plot had surprises and action, but also sweet and adorable which is a great book in my opinion! Can't wait for the next Elizabeth Kelly, they keep getting better and better.

Ok

In this book, we get to know more about Porter, the brother of Mal, and Maggie. Maggie is a new character in the serie, she's human.
As Porter is quite a man-whore, Maggie is a virgin and ready to give it in exchange of protection. In fact, Maggie is harassed by a hyena shifter who didn't understand that no is no. The guy became obsessive and treated her. Maggie met Porter by accident in the bar where he works. Porter doesn't want a mate or to settle but when he met Maggie, things will change...
Like in the third book, I'm not a fan of the FMC. Maggie is shy, clumsy, weird, and weak. I didn't click with her and not really with Porter.
But what disturbed me the more is the end of the book. It's like it's not really finished but if you read the following books of the serie, we don't learn more about them. The end is definitely abrupt and maybe the author should considering adding more of HEA for them.

"Porter's Mate", fourth in the 'Shifters' series, is probably a book too far. The problem is that, while well-written, and each book varies the subplot, each book has the same romantic story - finding love no matter how difficult it may be.
This time round human Maggie Wallace walks into a Shifter Bar - she's on the run, and needs help to protect her from the unwanted attentions of an Hyena Shifter, who is obsessed with her. She can't go to the police because he's one of them and a decorated cop to boot.
Bartender Porter Bourke turns down her offer to trade her virginity for his help, but help he does.
If you've read any of the previous books you know how it goes - it takes time to build up a head of steam but eventually they are at it like bunnies. And, of course, there is an explosive climax (ahem!) with the baddie.
I won't be reading any further in the series, it has simply run its course as far as I am concerned.

My very first shifter book was Elizabeth Kelly's Willow and the Wolf and this story doesn’t disappoint, we meet Maggie and Porter and their story is hard to put down. Maggie goes to a bar looking for help and finds the alpha sexy shifter Porter. They have a bumpy start but Porter is a sexy hot alpha protector, as they start a fake relationship to help keep Maggie safe and it turns into the real thing. As they deal with the intense shifter with his obsession of Maggie, Porter and Maggie’s story is sizzling. This story has it all sweetness, suspense and hotness. The shifter series is very entertaining reading them all introduces you to all the main characters that you meet in this book. I recieved an ARC for an honest review, I enjoyed the book... Well done Elizabeth looking forward to the next one.

An exciting addition to the series, this series is so much fun to read, they're like M & M's, you can't stop at just one, you need to read the whole set, or at least you'll want to. Maggie and Porter come together because of necessity. In previous books, Porter has come off as a kind of a promiscuous individual, and Maggie states upfront that she's a virgin. Maggie is on the run, and she needs protection from a hyena cop who won't let her go, and offers Porter a deal, since she doesn't have any money. As always, the action is intense and the scenes are beautifully described in detail, you can almost picture yourself in the room. I was gifted an ARC of this book but I'm leaving an honest review based on my reading. I loved this book. I love this series. I recommend you read anything you can get your hands on by this author. You won't regret it!

I was given an arc in exchange for an honest review. This has to be one of my favorite series by Elizabeth Kelly. I love how in each book we still get to see the characters that we first fell in love with like Mal and Willow, Ava and Bishop but then we also get to fall in love with new characters. I absolutely loved Porter he was the perfect good guy. He wanted to help Maggie, he wanted to protect her and keep her save. He was almost like a knight in wolf Amor. Maggie was looking for someone to help her with the trouble but in the end got so much more a family, and new start and a man who will love her forever. Porters Mate is a sweet love story Elizabeth Kelly just keeps amazing me with the stories she writes can't wait for the next book

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review. Porters Mate is book 4 in this series and this series has been an amazing one. From the very first book in the series Willow and her wolf. You were sucked into this world and when ever you finish book you cant wait to read the next one. Porters mate was an excellent read and I love seeing all my favorite character. Maggie is in trouble and goes into a shifter bar hoping to find someone who can help her. Porter is started to rethink his mate situation when he first see Maggie. Maggie is dirty and starving but from the moment porter set eyes on her he wants to protect her, and help her. Sparks fly and emotions run high. This was one of my favorite books in this series and I can not wait for the next.

This is a great series and Porter's Mate is a favorite of mine. Maggie turns to Porter when she goes into a shifter bar looking for help against a hyena shifter who is harassing her. To make it worse, this hyena shifter is a cop. Porter chooses to help her by pretending to be her boyfriend and mate. It doesn't take long for their feelings for each are true. They go through quite a bit before they find their happily ever after together. This book has steamy romance, suspense and some disasters before their happy ending.

While I enjoyed it, I wasn't quite as thrilled with the story line as some of the other books. Maggie was incredibly naïve about shifters and human nature. Coming from foster care she should be a little more worldly than that. Porter never really helps her with understand shifters any better, and instead keeps ducking the issues. It was also easy to see the climax coming from a mile away. One thing I liked in the first book was it's unpredictability. Overall, enjoyable.

The Shifter Series has been a favorite of mine since the first book and Porters Mate is another great addition. The main characters are lovable and there's something about a strong wolf hero. When I finished I wanted to go back and read everything from the first book through to the end. Can't wait for the next book in the series to come out. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love this book, the series and the author. This is a touching story of a human female running from an ex who also happens to be a very dangerous shifter. How do you protect yourself from a shifter, you ask another shifter for help.

Porter's Mate can be read as a standalone although for better enjoyment and understanding I recommend reading the series in order. This book was fabulous. It was more suspenseful than any of the previous books. Maggie's sweet, naive innocence has gotten her into quite a pickle this time with a psycho ex boyfriend unable to take no for an answer. Porter isn't your typical knight in shining armor. He has quite a scandalous past that adds a rugged bad boy vibe to his character. The romance is sizzling hot while maintaining the seriousness of Maggie's situation. I recommend this to all lovers of paranormal romance. I was not disappointed!

I am voluntarily reviewing the book Porter's Mate, by Elizabeth Kelly gifted to me by her with no obligations.
I started it when I went to bed and finished it before I fell asleep.
Superb addition to the series. This book is totally awesome. Elizabeth Kelly has never, ever disappointed me at all. Plenty of sex, love, shifters. And did I mention sex? This book will not disappoint.
Happy Reading

One thing I have learned about Elizabeth Kelly’s books is that I start the book thinking I can read a couple of chapters and go to bed, then the next thing I know I am reading the words the end and it is midnight, sleep is definitely overrated when you are reading one of her books, I absolutely love this series, and Porter’s mate does not disappoint, I love the chemistry between Porter and Maggie, Maggie comes to Porter for help to convince her psycho ex boyfriend turned stalker that she is not his mate but Porter’s and Porter’s wolf couldn’t agree more!! Now all his wolf has to do is convince the man to claim Maggie for their own!! I love how you get to catch up with your favorite characters from previous books and get to continue their stories as well!! I ABSOLUTELY loved the end of this book and was so thankful that I didn’t have to wait for the next book in the series for it to happen!!! Thank you Elizabeth for making my day when I see it is release day for one of your books!!!

I couldn’t put this book down! I absolutely love her books! And the wait is torture when I know that a book of hers is going to be released!
I recommend that you read the other 3 books in this series so that you know who the characters are so that it’s easier to follow along, and so that you can fall in love with all of them! Willow and the Wolf, Ava and the Bear & Katarina and the Bird!
Maggie Wallace goes into a Paranormals only bar to find a shifter to help her with a problem. A Shifter Hyena who won’t take no for an answer! She goes to Wolf Shifter Porter who promises to help her. Porter doesn’t count on falling for her! With the help of family and friends will they be able to save Maggie?
To find out you’ll have to read this amazing story! I can’t wait for her next book!

Elizabeth Kelly has once again given us a book that leaves us wanting more and more! I love this series and can't wait for more!

Loved this book, definitely my favorite in the series. Porter is such a great character. He's strong, kind, protective and sexy. And from the moment Maggie walks into the bar where he works he takes care of her. Maggie is in trouble (being stalked by a hyena shifter) and ask for help from a strong shifter to keep her safe. Even though Porter was reluctant to help, he did. What starts as a fake relationship blossoms into something real and Elizabeth really makes you understand the journey these characters take. I absolutely love reading series from this author because she always keeps the characters from the previous books relevant. We continue to see the other relationships grow as well. As always Ms. Kelly delivered a funny, sexy, and action packed book.
