She's my only friend in this one-horse town so why do I suddenly want to own her? He's an older soot-stained dirty blacksmith, surly and silent enough to be a hermit. She's the younger straight-talking girl that runs the only bar for a thousand miles. There's no way these two could ever get together. The Blacksmith is Quint and Edie's story. The second installment in the standalone series set on the Foxworth Stud Ranch. As usual from a Mia Madison romance, the story features an older man and the younger woman that falls for him head over toe. Expect a steamy friends to lovers tale with a delicious HEA.
"The Blacksmith" is the story of the namesake Quint and the bartender Edie. Two people who've been each other's venting ears suddenly discover their attraction.. and some past secrets are exposed. The story was average, the sex was average, the chemistry was average. Safe 2/5
Of A Different Opinion: So, I am going to be the odd one out in these reviews as I feel like I read an entirely different story then the other reviewers. I want to make clear that I love Mia Madison’s work and am a fan. I have read all of her works and find them great fun reads. This story, in my opinion, did not live up to her writing level in any way. I am so disappointed in the story and found it difficult to read. I felt like I was reading a high school students creative writing paper and one with little understanding of story structure, flow and character development. The entire story was incongruent. It felt like every romance troupe thrown together in one mixed up story. There was cowboys who were funny and sweet, a blacksmith who was withdrawn, shy, bruiting, the Mafia that felt like it was through into the story, then the main male character changed to an alpha male who started dominate talk and actions and even talk of being mates like he was a shifter. These did not flow together well and I found myself having to go back and re-read sections to see if I missed when the story turned. I bought this book because it is the second in the Foxworth Stud Ranch story line and My Cocky Cowboy was by far my favorite of Mia’s works. I expected another great story about a hot alpha cowboy and his instant love for the local bartender. What I read was a boring, slow, mixed up story that felt like it dragged on and on. There were grammar and editing issues that detracted from the story and descriptive word choices that I groaned at like “hard pole.” This did not live up to Mia’s previous works and I feel like with the word choices and story structure that this really was not a Mia Madison work, it felt like someone else wrote it. Disappointed; I will continue to read Mia’s works and I am sure that I will love them, this did not turn me off to her work.
I loved the first book in the Foxworth Stud Ranch series, so I was super excited about this one. And I loved it! Quint is all sexy and silent, Edie the young hot bartender is his friend. It turns to more in their story. Finally, according to everyone else. Oh and there are some surprises and suspense! Mia never disappoints for a sweet and sexy and interesting story. I received an arc.
Mia does it again! Book grabbed me & I reluctantly put it down after the last page! When two equally HOT & STUBBORN people get together there's only one way to go baby. Straight UP! Edie owns the local bar & Quint is an older guy & the Blacksmith for the town. Upon first glance their chemistry is off the charts! Grab a copy for yourself to see how their story unfolds, GUARANTEE you won't be disappointed. I voluntarily read this ARC & this is my honest review
I love Mia's writing and have enjoyed her books but this one just didn't hit the mark. It wasn't up to par with her normal writing. It started out really good with as we meet Edie, the bar owner who had her heart broken by her ex. Quindt is an older man who is a blacksmith, He's sexy and quiet but suddenly he's dominating, which didn't fit with who he was. The mysterious man was odd and when told to leave, he did as if that would solve Quindt's problems! It just didn't run smoothly.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a sexy hot quick read. This is another great book from Mia Madison. Quint is the strong protective alpha wanting to do anything he can to keep Edie safe. What started out as friendship slowly developed into some more. I loved the characters and the story. I read this in one setting and can't wait to read more from this author. I recommend this to anyone that enjoys a hot quick read.
This book will make you sweat, pun intended. Quint is a blacksmith and a loner who frequents a bar owned by Edie. The two are drawn to each other but do not act on it. One day Quint’s past comes back to haunt him and he is driven to ensure her safety. Will Quint get over his issues and give in to being more than just friends? Mia Madison has written another intriguing older man younger woman romance and I can’t wait to read what comes next. I volunteered to read an arc for a review.
Two lonely hearts but been hurt and not trusting. But they wanted each other from the start but they needed to really get to know each other and trust. Then he is older and she'd younger, he didn't want to feel like an old man, age doesn't matter when 2 people care for one another. Now to read the next 1st one.
I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review..... honestly it was hot as hell
I adore I think every Mia book I've read. Always yummy & sexy filled. I enjoy older man/younger woman stories and this one with Quinn and Edie's story. So delicously yummy. Also a great way to start a Relationship, as friends first. Yup. Loved this book and it was not as hell
The best of this series. Quint and Edie were great together.
Love the names;-Quint ( from jaws), Shea Butler (Butter!), Foxworth ( Fort Worth?), Modesty Blaze, Dallyce ( not sure what her surname is Corboy? Tascon?
My comments from My Cocky Cowboy are still relevant re editing.
I really enjoyed this story--two loners who become friends then more. I had issues with some of the transitions between characters, but nothing too terrible. I will re-read this one.
Sweet and Sassy. You have to love the quite ones. This story brings us Quint and Edie and it's a great book to read. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book. Enjoy
Quint is a bit of a loner, but Edie sort of installs a protective instinct in him. Then he becomes one off the guys. Another brilliant story by Mia Madison.
I had my reservations the first couple pages into this story but those soon dissipated. This is a sweet story of friends to lovers, older man and younger woman. Both characters are strong and compliment each other well. Their chemistry is great and their story is sweet. The only thing left hanging was who and what happened with the "stranger" that came into town and the guys after Quint. Other than that mystery the story itself is sweet. Recommended. I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review.
I want a blacksmith. This book was hot in more ways than one. The scenes where the H was working in his forge were so perfectly written I could see the sweat drip and the metal heat. Woo-hoo keep a fan handy when you read this. ***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***
All my life I've been intrigued by the artisans who bend the metal to their will...so you know I jumped at the chance to review The Blacksmith by the amazing Mia Madison!
This is an exceptionally well written book, with characters of amazing grit and courage. Edie and Quint are indeed the perfect couple--if they would only realize it. The storyline worked well and the HEA is totally delightful as well.
This is a hard-hitting book about a man and woman who'd both been hit hard by life. Their coming together is a story you'll be glad you read. It's definitely a keeper! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and loved every minute of the read.) ❤️❤️
I voluntarily read the arc copy of this book. Quint and Edie's story is awesome. It's a quick, dirty, yummy read. It's has a good story to go along with the sexy times and I would definitely recommend it.
I am a fan of cowboy romances, and I found The Blacksmith to be different. A blacksmith in a modern-day small western town, Quint has a past that he's been trying to escape. I love how he and Edie struck up a friendship of sorts even as they both felt the attraction to each other. This was a good quick and steamy read with an older man/younger woman touch. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Another great steamy, hot, older man, younger woman book by Mia Madison that you don't want to put down till you're done. Quint is the loner blacksmith and Edie is the bar owner that captures his eye and heart. They become friends first but the underlying attraction is there but neither want to make the first move to jeopardize their friendship. When another man comes to town and shows interest, Quint can't hold back his possessivness towards her. There is a secret he has from his past and when someone threatens them, he tells Edie everything, the first person he has told ever. A great short, steamy, hot read that you don't want to miss and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I want to know what happened to the stranger and how Quint deals with the past so they aren't in danger anymore or will they always be in danger. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
Another great steamy, sexy and heated Older Man / Younger Woman read with a little intrigue and danger from Mia. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Fantastic storyline with believable characters. Love the strong silent males that know their women and what they like. Recommend this book to all who love a good romance with just a touch of rough.
Edie and Quint are a couple you would not expect to work but they really do. He is a recluse that focuses on his work as a blacksmith and she operates the local bar. There is a definite age difference. When she needs protection, he comes to her aid and it changes their relationship.
It is a shorter story. It offers solid writing and great characters. You definitely feel the chemistry between them. There is a sweetness to their romance and plenty of heat too.
Another great quick read. Love these cowboys. (I'm not usually a cowboy fan at all) Quint and Edie were just friends until they realize that they really want more. Can't wait to see who the next Foxworth book is about. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
