Guillaume Faye's manifesto and ideological dictionary, aimed at the 'European Resistance'. Radical, thought provoking and at times extremely controversial. A book that can't be read without forming an opinion about it.
French political scientist, writer and journalist.
Faye was on of the main theorists of the French movement the "Nouvelle Droite". He was a member of Alain de Benoist's organisation GRECE until he parted from the organisation in 1986.
In 1987 he withdrew from politics and worked as a DJ for the radiostation "Skyrock"
In 1998 he re-entered politics with a book comprising diverse essays.
This book is very useful to give a solid moral and philosophical foundation for the White identitarian movement.
It discusses the mental AIDS of the egalitarian and universal ideology of the French Revolution, and how this ideology is leading to the genocide of the European people. The book highlights how this suicidal ideology is going to be the demise of the European people, but it will never bring about its uptopian dream of world without racial identities and conflict for the very important fact that every non-white rejects this liberal ideology. The book highlights that other ethnic blocks (black people, Arabs, Chinese, Indians, etc.) DO NOT even consider giving up their racial and ethnic identity. If all White people decided to give up their ingroup preference and identity, other people would not do the same so it would result not in the establishement of the egalitarian utopia, but only in the destruction of White people. I find this argument very strong to wake up normies, that they always ignore the fact that the colonizers don't want to integrate and become Europeans. White liberals simply forgot to check if non-whites share their liberal ideas.
The main problem of this book is that it ignores the Jewish Question. It just claims that the "European elites" have suddenly decided to commit suicide, but this cannot be justified by simply blaming the theories of the "Enlightment". Alien values such as LGBT being imposed on European people by the European people themselves makes little sense. It's much more realistic to think that the Jews are simply imposing their culture on us. The author fails to understand certain subtleties that would highlight the Jewish role. For instance, he talks about miscegenation but he doesn't mention that miscegenation is pushed only as black man - White woman. Therefore it's not miscegenation animated by an egalitarian spirit, but it's a miscegenation that excludes and demoralizes White men and only brainwashes White women to go with blacks (and therefore it's a weapon of ethnic warfare, it's not egalitarianism).
I will excuse the book because it's been written in France in 2001. The author probably didn't want to be arrested, as criticizing or even mentioning that the Jews rule over us is a crime in France (paradoxically proving that it's true). Also, in 2001 the anti-white ideology wasn't as blatant as it is in the post George Floyd world. 20 or 30 years ago it could have been reasonable to blame mass immigration on the Enlightment, but now that the media specifically hates White people (and constantly pushes the image of black man - White woman) this cannot be explained without understanding the role that the Jews play. The book is, frankly, a bit dated. Mein Kampf written 100 years ago is a more relevant book for today.
The failure to understand the Jewish question is probably why the author sees America as an adversary, rather than a country of White people in our same situation. I absolutely agree with the author that White people should have a racial identity that spans across nation states, but White Americans are still Europeans. The United States was created as a White ethnostate where only White people could be citizens; the associations between the so called "American Revolution" (which was in fact a war of independence against a foreign governement) and the French Revolution are a bit spurious and I tend to believe they were made up by the liberals to try to change history in their favor. I believe a European has more in common with a White American than a Chechen, so the author's wish for Europe to unite with Russia and not America seems a bit strange. It is true that America has purposefully caused mass immigration to Europe with her wars, but again, these wars were pushed by the Jewish lobby in America and were not a natural interest of White Americans.
Overall, this book is a good read and it certainly gives a valuable introduction and summary to the White identitarian movement. I couldn't expect a single book to explain the Jewish Question so perhaps it's good that it was left out. This is the sort of books that you could suggest to your normie friends. It is a book of abstract ideas and definitions of concepts, rather than an a concrete analysis of what happened to our civilization. For the latter, you'll have to read The Culture of Critique: An Evolutionary Analysis of Jewish Involvement in Twentieth-Century Intellectual and Political Movements.
'It is remarkable that those who plead for more cultural diversity in our societies support a process that will eradicate most cultures and that we therefore, in the not so distant future, will live in a world with no cultural diversity at all.' - this quote does not appear in this book but I found it very appropriate to mention.
I hesitated some time before I decided to read one of Faye's books because reading about the end of your people's world is a painful process. It confronts you with the horrific truth that only a few realize: that we are destroying cultural and ethnic diversity at an alarming rate while we believe we are doing the opposite (celebrating multiculturalism and tolerance instead). I don't have to be reminded about this because every time I watch the news the media tells it. But I pushed myself to read it because maybe I could find some hope: the comforting feeling that you're not alone with this consciousness.
I'm glad that I read it because my two biggest worries are the main subjects of this book: the destructive force of American/western imperialism and the ethnic suicide of western cultures triggered by immigration. American imperialism wants to control the earth and reduce Europe to one of its colonies and the constant immigration waves into Europe threaten its demographic survival. Many people believe that these things aren't happening but by denying it they show their inability to understand population dynamics. Each immigrant woman has 4 kids so this means an exponential growth of immigrants who are already inside our societies, add to this the continuous inflow and the original people are minorities in less then 80 years (these are facts so if you do not believe this you have a problem). I also appreciate that he mentions the ecological issue we are facing because most of the time people 'on the right side' (sorry for using the left-right dichotomy, Mr. Faye) don't care about that. But the truth is that nature is going to survive anyway, I worry about the human part. The 'dictionary style' forms the largest part of the book and it is an original way of telling the message.
I gave this book 5 stars because it is right about the biggest issue at stake here but that doesn't mean that I agree with everything. First, he is a supporter of nuclear energy. I know, he is french, but still. He does not realize that the only acceptable alternative for petroleum-based energy is real sustainable energy like wind, solar and water. Saying that this is impossible is foolish.
He mentions overpopulation as a big issue and I like that very much (all our problems are caused by overpopulation) but he also talks about a pro-natalist regime for real Europeans and that is a wrong way of solving our problems. Europe is already overpopulated even without the immigrants so there is no reason to increase European population sizes. The problem is that as long as they come rushing in we cannot solve this issue because immigrants make lots of babies. There are some other minor issues I worried about but not critical enough to write about.
He also still believes in a world divided into independent 'imperial' power blocks. He wants Europe to ally with Russia and form a independent force against the US. I'm OK with it as long as it can destroy the western hegemony in this world but I believe we have to stop thinking in this way. We have to destroy all forms of imperialism and go back to the many small independent states that are economically autonomous from each other. But maybe I'm just a Utopian...
He tries to find a balance between the traditionalist mumbo-jumbo of honor, warrior, blood, etc... and cosmopolitan conformism and that is great. Sometimes I have the feeling he has find that balance but sometimes I don't. Anyway, I got convinced to read another one of Faye's books, Archeofuturism. For those who want more about this I can propose Pierre Krebs' 'Fighting for the Essence' which I liked too.
A good book if you care about the survival of the European peoples and civilization, both of which are under unprecedented attack and risk endangerment this century. Written in 2001, the book is way ahead of its time. The dangers predicted in the book have come to pass and are accelerating.
A large part of the book is a glossary of political terms that shows Faye's great grasp on the European landscape and political scene. Very useful and practical.
Faye proposes a European-Russian alliance against America-supported globalization and Afro-Islamic colonization/mass-immigration from the South. This means strong borders and national (and continental) identity, energy independence (primarily through nuclear energy) and stronger, deterrent military forces.
Fifteen years later, such a European identity and alliance remains a dream. One can hope.
Even non-Europeans (like me!) should appreciate the higher world that is Europe and support its continuity.
This book was a lot more useful than I thought it would be. There are several really good ideas and good reasoning in tjese pages. The most valuable part of the book was to me the chapter called "Metapolitical Dictionary". This chapter made the book unique. I would say it is superiour to "Archeofuturism" (it should be mentioned that I read it 6 years ago). I really want to give this book a five-star, but his sometimes irrational focus on Islam prevents me from doing just that. His attacks on so-called traditionalism also makes him seem ignorant. In spite of this I really recommend this to all.
A very important book that every nationalist and identitarian of Evropean descent should read, I'd even go so far sa to say that this should be the first book to read if you are new to the ideas of nationalism and identitarianism. The Metapolitical Dictionary part was a particularly interesting and insightful part of the book, explaining the ideological battle of former and current time in Evropa.
Essentially, Guillaume Faye makes two key arguments in this book: the degree of destruction American/Western imperialism has wrecked upon world cultures and specifically the demographic decline of European people, referred to as ethnic suicide, caused by a combination of low birth rates and mass immigration from Third World countries.
American/Western imperialism isn't specified in purely military terms (with the obvious exception of the continual presence of American military bases in Germany, for example) but more by the toxic influence of American culture that encourages ethnomasochism, xenophilia/homophilia and other malignant influences that serve to create a political and social climate more friendly to globalist interests.
His solution to these problems is mainly France-centric (understandable, given the author was French) but they are interesting...
As well as instituting a strict immigration moratorium, Faye proposes a strategic and cultural alliance with Russia to create a kind of Euro-Siberian empire as well as creating alliances with India and China against the United States.
He also proposes a change in common culture based around Traditionalism and a religious/moral system that is "universal but not cosmopolitan." Interestingly enough, Faye also understands the dangers of overpopulation given the upsurge of birth rates in Africa over the last century or so.
Overall, a really interesting book to read and one I feel will have tremendous influence on the on-going development of political thought and philosophy in the New Right for decades to come.
A deep and thorough introduction to an increasingly relevant albeit controversial political philosophy. Parts of it are incredibly prescient for their time, though this is reflected in the fact that France is ahead of the rest for Europe in seeing some of the problems described emerge.
A lot of the book made me quite uncomfortable and some of it is not all there but I think it accurately characterises the most extreme conceptions of the social challenges and decay Europe and the wider West face. The simple linguistic "tools" of the Metapolitical Dictionary are interesting, some more pragmatic than others, and give cause to rethink how "control" of language has shaped political discourse for decades.
A very good read, especially if you do not necessarily like identitarianism but want to understand it.
Some useful material against the current colonisation of Europe (especially by Islam), but it was a bit too ethno-nationalist in places for my liking (though the author was not completely opposed to miscegenation).
Although I do not agree with Faye on everything I think the book contains a lot of very pertinent points about the direction Europe and Europeans should be taking in order to resist the coming maladies of economic, cultural and demographic collapse.
