Valerie and Chase are alike in many ways. The most obvious way is distancing themselves from situations and people, as a means to protect the secrets that they carry. What neither realizes is the differences that keep them apart, are precisely what makes them unstoppable together. Last Chance is a tale full of twists that puzzle, thrill and touch in the most enthralling of ways. A real showstopper.

I kind of finished this a couple of days ago but as it isn’t entirely for me it was hard to figure out what to write in my review.

This is just not my cuppa and I would like to add that I am in the minority here. I usually know my taste in books but sometimes I just want to try something new. It can either be epic or in this case not so much.

There is a lot of positive aspects to the book. I do consider the book to be well written. The characters are in-depth and complex although I did find them to be somewhat annoying.

I enjoyed the light paranormal element it added more excitement to the plot of the book. Our MC are to find Al Capone's cane as it is supposed to lead to a hidden treasure of immense value.

And here comes my but...

For me the book just dragged in places and picked up and I was loving it but went back to a snail pace. The author couldn't get the balance right IMO. It is repetitive in places and I found the characters to be somewhat strenuous.

Just because I didn't like Last Chance doesn't mean that you guys won't. Give it a go.

I am so disappointed this is the last book in the series, I was absolutely desperate for a story between Skye and Caleb but alas this does not seem to be although Erika has teased us with snippets of both of these characters through the Vegas Heat series. I would also liked to have seen a little more of the previous characters featured in the story as a way of providing a sense of closure. Instead I am left yearning to learn more - probably a good way for an author to know they have created memorable characters.

We have met Valerie on a number of occasions through the Vegas Heat series, resident clairvoyant and general situation smoother. Valerie has a large capacity for affection yet tends to keep herself very guarded due to the experiences in her past. Her gift has often left her with guilt and regret she carries with her as armour. Raised by her aunt and uncle from a young age, she has always know love and acceptance even if she purposefully maintained distance between herself and others.

Chase is a treasure hunter with a rare gift of being able to read the history of objects at a touch. Paired with Valerie to track down an artefact belonging to Al Capone for the owner of the Onyx Casino at which Valerie works. Unlike Valerie, Chase has not had the best family support especially after he gained his gift via an accident involving a lightning strike and the death of his best friend. Luckily, Chase has his grandparents to provide the support and nurturing he was lacking from his own parents who were more interested in social status than their own child. Chase also has a high level of survivors guilt that he translated into adrenaline rush activities throwing his mortality into the hands of fate.

The connection between Chase and Valerie is quite literally electric, with a connection that defies logic enhanced by their individual gifts. I loved the inclusion of Valerie's re-occurring dream about her soul-mate within the narrative, adding to the undeniable bond and enhancing the romance between Chase and Valerie.

The thriller elements within Last Chance were cleverly incorporated and provided the basis for the connection between Valerie and Chase to flourish. The inclusion of fascinating titbits of information about Al Capone added to the story as a whole.

I did feel the ending was a little abrupt and would have liked to have seen an epilogue to know what the future held in store for Valerie and Chase.

The third book in this series is hot and sexy and full of suspense and intrigue. Of course there is lots of action between Valerie and Chase!! He is looking to have her in his bed and she is looking to keep far away from him. When business throws them together, their feelings simmer to the top and they can't deny them anymore.

I couldn't put this book down once I started it. It took them time to finally express their love for each other but it was worth the ride to see them get to that point!

Last Chance is the third book in Erika Wilde’s Vegas Heat series. I truly love this series, and the third book is the best one for me thus far. Another major plus is that the first three books release every seven days within three weeks. Not only do I get a lot of story about interesting characters, the close release dates allow me to stay connected with these characters.

Last Chance starts a little differently from the first two books in that the job assigned by TRG (The Reliance Group) is a treasure hunt. There isn’t anyone in danger or in need of rescue. The early chapters have the main characters learning to work together more than a suspenseful mission—that doesn’t last too long though.

Last Chance features Valerie Downing and Chase Pierson. In the two previous books, we get a little taste of Valerie’s gift. She has a psychic ability that gives her visions or premonitions about people with the lightest touch and/or their proximity to her. She can also “feel” people in death if they leave a strong aura in this world. Valerie is often used by The Reliance Group to evaluate the truthfulness of clients and suspects.

Chase is working for Steven Wilkes, the owner of The Onyx Casino. Chase is helping him find various historical items owned by Al Capone. The current quest is a favorite walking stick that Capone used and it is rumored to hold a possible secret. Unfortunately, even though Chase has psychometric abilities himself, he is at a dead end. Steven requests that Valerie join forces with Chase to see if she can help.

What I like about this story is that it shows how people who are different can be misunderstood and used or made fun of to the point that their defenses make them untouchable. Chase and Valerie have an instant connection due to their unique skills. They both have strong walls around their hearts with major trust issues. The closer they work together, they find that they also connect because of losses in their past and guilt that they can’t let go.

Ms. Wilde does an excellent job building anticipation and suspense from the beginning when Chase and Valerie meet. The story is mesmerizing. The research that Ms. Wilde did on Capone and psychic abilities are thorough. The insight into Capone is informative and adds to the story.

I must say again---What a great book and series. Anyone of the three books works as a standalone, but I recommend reading every one of the books. All the characters are different, and the mission is a thrilling ride. I hope that the series will continue as there are some exciting adventures the TRG can have in the future and there is also more members of the team that needs their story told.

Sadly we have come to the end. Or at least that's what I hear for now. Hopefully, the author will change her mind. There are so many more stories in TRG pool of staff. So much potential for happily ever after...or naughty next night.

Before I turn this into a eulogy, Last Chance is the third and final of this series. It's Valerie's story. It's a slight bit para added to your normal. Huh, you say? If you have read the series you know Valerie is psychic, what you don't know will fill this book. (I couldn't resist.)

Hot, electric connection
Deep seated uncontrollable urges
a magnetic pull...

Sounds hot, right? Like intense physical chemistry?!? Except that's just from a handshake...wait til you read more.

It's sexy and a more playful adventure than the others in the series. A good time was definitely had by all- no, make that most! Not everyone wins in the end...

While all the Vegas Heat books were well done, this is my favorite. It is the last in the series, but could be read as a stand-alone. The couples in books one and two are in this story at the wedding.
Valerie is a member of the Reliant group she is psychic with both premonition and body contact information. For months she has been dreaming about a lover who will be her soul mate, though her past has her afraid of that emotional connection.
Chase is also a psychic, but his gift came to him later in life and at the high cost of his best friend's death. His ability is to be able to read the history of inanimate objects. As one might guess, he has gone into the business of professional treasure hunter. In this book he has found the handle of Al Capone's cane and is searching for the staff portion of it, and an added treasure it might unlock.
The owner of the Onyx hotel in Las Vegas, where all of the Reliant members normally work, is collecting mobster memorabilia and has hired both Chase and Valerie to work as a team to find the rest of Al Capone's walking cane. It leads them on a chase all over the USA on many exciting, sometimes risky, adventures. Any time they touch anywhere, their strong psychic abilities make attraction literally sizzle between them. This was a fun read, with some 1920's history thrown in with the romance.

Loved it. Treasure hunting. A connection that is electric. Mystery. Sex.
Valerie is the hostess of Onyx Casino and a member of THE RELIANCE GROUP. She is picked to help a man find Capone's cane because of her special abilities.
Chase is a procurer of fine objects or a treasure hunter. He is hunting Al Capone's cane. Chase can hold objects and tell their history. But the moment he touches Valerie it's like lightning hitting them.
Valerie is afraid to get close because she has had visions and then lost several people in her life and she stays away from relationships after being burned by an ex.
Someone doesn't want them together and will go to any lengths to separate them. Chase will do anything to keep Valerie, even give up his wild, more adventurous side. I think my favorite out of all three.

Ooh what a fun and sexy story this one was. First off, I guess you can kind of label Last Chance as a light paranormal romance because Valerie, the heroine, is psychic. And when she meets Chase, ooh boy, the sparks totally flew and almost short circuit my kindle. I loved how their relationship developed and the adventure they went on. There's a little bit of suspense and some action but there was a whole lot of loving going on too. I don't know what else to add except that this really was a fun story to read. I loved every moment of it. There were some secondary characters I would love Erika Wilde to write about because I don't want this series to end yet. So here's hoping.

I was a bit surprised that Last Chance, had a paranormal aspect to the book, compared to the first two books in the Vegas Heat Series, but I was not disappointed non the less. I loved Chase and Valerie (who has psychic capabilities). This book had a little bit of everything, action, suspense and definately romance. Sparks sure do fly, and I say that almost literally because anytime Chance (who also has a psychic ability) and Valerie touch, their psychic abilities seem to sizzle and spark. I was sad to see the book end I enjoyedit that much.

Valerie and Chase are so scorching hot together. They have electric current sizzling between them. This a mix of sexy, suspense and paranormal all rolled into one fantastic read. Chase and Valerie both have a large dose of guilt for things that happened when they were children. This book was released years ago. Erika Wilde revamped this book and it's now a rerelease. The writing of this book was subperb. I enjoyed it immensely.

Valerie and Chase made quite the intriguing couple. After reading the first two books in this series, we already know about Valerie's abilities, but we learn she might not be the only one. The sparks that fly between her and Chase are super hot and undeniable. The storyline was different and kept me interested until the very end.

This book is a republished version of an older series, but I truly hope that Ms. Wilde revisits this series and gives us more books from The Reliance Group.

I very much enjoyed this third (and I hope not last) installment in the Vegas Heat series. This story follows Chase and Valerie as they go on a treasure hunt for the missing piece to Al Capone's famous walking stick. With Valerie being a clairvoyant, and Chase having psychometric abilities, there is a paranormal element to this book, but nothing that detracts from the action or love story - if anything it adds another dimension to their relationship. There was lots of action, romance, intrigue, and some mystery. We got to see Sean marry Zoe, and Skye continue to drive Caleb crazy. I really hope that Ms. Wilde decides to revisit this series in the future, because we absolutely need a book for Skye and Caleb. I would also like to see Chase and Valerie revisited at some point. I found that their book ended rather abruptly with no epilogue. I would love to see what they're up to in the future.

Book 3 in the Vegas Heat series and it's another can't put down, gripped from the first page story. This book was so exciting and also has a touch of the paranormal to it

An Executive Casino Hostess and a guy out for a good time on the casino circuit, or is he.

Chase Pierson is working for Valerie Downing's boss on a top secret mission for the Reliance Group, but so is Valerie.

Join them in a search, and see if they can keep their hands of each other and if they can't, will sparks fly

Last Chance, book three of the Vegas Heat series, is a Contemporary Romance & another exciting combination of hot seduction & mystery thriller in one. Valerie & Chase are thrown together to find the missing piece needed to solve a puzzle, only to find themselves fitting more than well together. They will go on a once in a lifetime adventure from Nevada, to California, to Illinois, to Florida & back again where they will discover they have more in common with each other than they ever could have imagined.

Told in third person, from dual perspectives, this is a hot romance & intriguing mystery thriller. Like its characters, this is a fun & adventurous story line, separate & different, but complimentary to the first two books in the series. It has everything from lost treasure to love! The story unfolds at a perfect pace & doesn't slow from beginning to surprisingly twisty end.

Valerie is a clairvoyant, which is often “more of a curse than a blessing--”. She is confident, yet cautious when it comes to who she trusts...keeping her emotions close. Enter Chase, with a rare ability of his own – he is charismatic, confident & exudes an easygoing charm, all packed into “a hard body made for all kinds of sin”. I love the emotional connection these characters share, not to mention the sexy innuendos, banter & the “Holy…wow,” seductive chemistry. The dynamic of close-knit, family-like ensemble of the cross-over characters, is wonderfully sweet & endearing. Ultimately a story of heart’s desire & kindred spirits – a must read!

I’ve enjoyed the entire series so much - I’m really hoping that this will not be the last of the Vegas Heat series – come on Erika, give us one more for Caleb & Skye!!!

4.5 Stars - Valerie finally found her man! From the moment Valerie and Chase touched, I was intrigued. Erika always gives us her all in terms of the characters emotions and connection, but there was so much more between this pair. While this book wasn't flooded with sex, I could sense their need and passion through a single touch or thought. Valerie's psychic abilities heightened the sensual pleasure that she experienced whenever she was near Chase. I couldn't wait for them to discover what awaited them when they finally dropped their walls.

Every aspect of the relationship between Valerie and Chase was perfectly described from their opposing natures and similar experiences in regard to trust and loss, to their complex emotions and attraction, as well as their passion and love for each other. It was definitely an emotional and sometimes rocky road to get to their happily ever after, but one worth the tireless fight.

This was such a unique story in the Vegas Heat series. I loved Valerie in the last two books even though we only got brief interactions of her with the main characters. There was just something about her intuitive and friendly nature with her coworkers that interested me. The last thing I expect to find was that it stemmed from her psychic abilities.  I enjoyed how Erika incorporated a bit of paranormal and treasure hunting in this story. It was a fun and thrilling journey.

I was also excited to see more of Skye, who we met in book 1 when she showed us her sassy, seductive side when trying to entice her boss into something more. Unfortunately, it was a little more of the same. I'm hoping to see her get her happily ever after in another book.

Last Chance is the third and final installment in the Vegas Heat Series . This book will have readers on the edge of their seat as a clairvoyant Casino Hostess and a treasure hunter with psychometric abilities come together to find a missing memorabilia from Al Capone.

Valerie Downing is the Executive Casino Hostess of the Onyx Casino where she caters to the high rollers and also works for The Reliance Group. Valerie has helped with several cases using her clairvoyance and has been brought on for another case. With the stunning man who was just hitting it big in the casino, Chase Pierson.

Chase is a man with psychometric abilities that he uses in his treasure hunting. Being able to touch an object and find out its history has helped him on many hunts and now he is looking for the biggest treasure to date, Al Capone’s cane.

When Chase and Valerie get together, sparks fly. Literally. Being that both of them are gifted, they have a connection like no other. Valerie can read Chase’s mind when he touches her and it’s mind-blowing, something she has never felt before. Their connection is very intense and Valerie knows she must not mix business with pleasure.

Can Valerie ignore her connection to Chase? Can Chase show Valerie what she really means to him? Will Chase and Valerie find the missing cane or will someone stand in their way?

The suspense, romance, and psychic abilities led to one special bond between the characters and I enjoyed every minute of it. They were a great couple who found what love truly means and it was the perfect way to end this series.

Last Chance was my favorite book in the Vegas Heat series. From the moment I started reading I was sucked in and couldn't stop. Now, there are some things that might not be for everyone (it's not a spoiler that the heroine has psychic abilities) but I thought it was smartly written and well done.

I loved Valerie. I loved how complex of a character she was, getting to explore her depths was fascinating. She's gifted, which adds a unique twist to this book. It was a different perspective to add to this romantic suspense story.

I'm going to say it took me a little bit to warm up to Chase-and I'm kind of glad. It kept me intrigued. His gift is a little bit different from Valerie's, and I'll say that it definitely piqued my interest. I thought his profession was really cool-a modern day treasure hunter with a twist.

These two had instant chemistry. I mean, it was off the charts. But they were also determined that it was not going to turn into anything. It's always fun to see how wrong the hero and heroine can be when it comes to what they think they'll be getting out of a relationship. I rooted for them as they went on this wild chase and loved every minute of it.

This book is a standalone within a series. Had I started with this book I would have absolutely gone back and read the previous two. The writing was flowed, the pacing worked. I enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend it.

Erika Wilde wrote a wonderful story with Last Chance, the third book in her Vegas Heat trilogy. Valerie is a clairvoyant who works with the Reliant group headed by Caleb. For months she has been dreaming about a lover who will be her soul mate, although her past experience has her afraid of that emotional connection. Chase is also a psychic, but his gift appeared later in life and at the high cost of his best friend's death. His ability is to be able to read the history of inanimate objects which assists him as a professional treasure hunter. He has found the handle of Al Capone's cane and is now searching for the staff portion of it, as well as any additional treasure it might unlock.

Steven, the owner of the Onyx hotel in Las Vegas, where all of the Reliant members work, is collecting mobster memorabilia and has hired both Chase and Valerie to work as a team to find the rest of Al Capone's walking cane. Chase and Valerie's adventure starts in Las Vegas, then off to Florida, back to Las Vegas, and ends up in Chicago. There is something exciting that happens in each city on their adventure. Any time they touch their strong psychic abilities make their attraction literally sizzle between them.

This was an intriguing and interesting story with very authentic characters and some 1920’s history added within the romance. Ms. Wilde wrote an excellent story capturing the reader in the web of intrigue and romance in this story. I highly recommend this book to other readers.

Last Chance is Book #3 in the Vegas Heat series. There are related characters in the series, but you do not need to read the first two books to follow the storyline.

The story of Chase and Valerie is definitely the most original plot of the three books in the series. The two embark on a treasure hunting journey together while using their psychic abilities. They have been used by loved ones in the past for their special talents, so they are leery of trusting anyone and becoming emotionally involved. However, there is an immediate connection between Chase and Valerie, making their work arrangement all the more challenging.

We follow Chase and Valerie traveling across the country searching for an artifact that is worth millions. Concentrating on their journey is easy and exciting, but fighting their electric attraction to one another is not. The chemistry between them was great, but I would have loved a little more focus on the building of their relationship. Valerie was too stubborn for her own good and didn’t want to give in to their connection, even though it continued to grow stronger. Chase didn’t seem as afraid to admit what was developing between the two of them and I appreciated that about him.

The way they connected was heartwarming, both having shared childhood memories that still haunted them. As time went on, their emotional walls started to collapse and the possibility of a future together was promising. Their tale was fun and intriguing, not as suspenseful as the previous books, but still an enjoyable read as Erika is a great storyteller!

5 Stars!

Erika Wilde has been an author I've read from time to time though I don't think I've read her by herself...but alas this time I did, taking a chance on this series that sounded amazing, hot and suspenseful.... And good news! All three of these books were perfect and mesmerizing.

Last Chance is the third and final standalone book in this series. Packed with heat, suspense, and touches of spiritual magic (yes those paranormal elements mentioned in the synopsis), Wilde takes her readers on an unforgettable journey that was a little different, unique, and stands a smidge above the rest.

Thrown together on a case (a treasure hunt at that!) because of their special abilities, neither Chase or Valerie realize how their lives are forever going to change...

I loved every moment of this book. Chase was so swoony and addicting in all the right ways. The connection he had with Valerie was undeniable, crazy intense, deep, and magical. The way their journey started to crossing those lines.... explosive, holy smokes!

Heart pounding... Breath holding... Edge of your seat... Gripping the pages... that's just a taste of what I went through on this journey that had me feeling all of the feels. This is a must read series.

If you want to jump on the Wilde train, this is the perfect way to start.

I highly recommend this book.

The 3rd instalment in the Vegas Heat Novels doesn't disappoint and this time it's about Valerie who we have met previously but we also know that she has psychic abilities and this time it's her on a case with a hot man, Chase. When they first meet its electric for her and she tries dismissing it as static electricity but with her abilities she's knows it's more than just that and what is also interesting is that Chase felt it to. Chase has his own ability and the two go off to find a cane, her part is to try and figure out more information through her abilities and his is to verify the object when they find it. During their time together the pull is too much for Valerie and she gives into her desires with him. Chase is starting to feel more for Valerie than a one night stand and starts opening up to her but she is more guarded and as they figure out the puzzle and reach their goal it's interrupted by a psychotic ex of his, another someone who wants the treasure for themselves and Valerie's insecurities and walls that she has built up over the years. With all this against them can they reach their HEA.....read and find out.
A great read with a psychic twist that I normally don't read but was pleasantly surprised that I couldn't stop reading till I was done, along with Chase, who was the first to open up and being patient with Valerie (loved it), the steamy steamy scenes, lust/love and finally finding your soul mate.....I really really enjoyed it!!

Last Chance is the third & final book in the Vegas Heat series and is about Valerie and Chase. Valerie is the executive casino hostess for The Onyx, is a member of The Reliance Group, and is also a clairvoyant, able to read people's emotions by touching them, sometimes even seeing visions. She has been called into her boss's office for an assignment with TRG - one where her clairvoyance will be a big help.

Chase is a treasure hunter, or as he calls it, a procurer of fine things. He also has psychometric abilities - he can touch an object and see its history. He has been commissioned to find an antique walking cane that once belonged to Al Capone. Along with his abilities, Valerie's psychic abilities are seen as another way to find the cane that much faster.

Both Chase and Valerie actually feel an electric pull towards each other and both have bad romantic histories, keeping their emotional walls up. But what happens when they both finally give in to their attraction to each other and start to realize there is a possibility of a real relationship beyond their working one? What about the jealous ex and the old nemesis that show up in the same hotel in San Francisco?

I really enjoyed this story. It had a lot of heart, intrigue, heat, sad backstories, ultimately love (of course), and the two characters going around the country in search of the cane was lots of fun. I was pulled into the story, waiting to see what they would find at each stop.

Last Chance is Erika Wilde's book 3 in the Vegas Heat series. You can also read it as a standalone, but I recommend to start with book one. You will get the back story for some of the characters that appear in Last Chance. This book has a bit of paranormal that will make it stand out from the rest. I don't read much Paranormal Romance books, but with this book it did not go over board with the abilities the characters have.

Valerie has been introduced in previous books. We had an idea that she has psychic abilities. She meets our newest hottie Chase at the casino. She is appalled on how just a touch and her nerves are completely shot. Chase is on a mission and needs help to find an antique item that he has been searching for a long time. When Valerie agrees to help, she is in for one crazy and emotional ride. The drama that the adventure these two go on will make you feel you are right there with them.

The heat that Last Chance brings is off the charts. You get emotional distress and get scorching hot sexy scenes in this book. Last Chance bring intensity to a new level and that's where the extra abilities these characters have make a big play. I really enjoyed reading Valerie's story and have been enjoying the Vegas Heat series! This book brought it up a notch with the emotional connection and deserves 5 stars!!

I read this straight off the back of finishing the second book and I think that might have been a mistake because while I enjoyed this, please don’t get me wrong this is a terrific book, I think I was still emotionally caught up in the previous story, so I think that meant it took me longer to connect with Chase and Valerie.
I liked the fact that the couples from the last story were in this book too but once I got into the story what I totally fell for was the fact that Valerie was psychic. I was hooked on the fact that she had been dreaming of her perfect man …was she all she was meant to be? Was her the man of her dreams really on her horizon?
Well, when she is teamed up with Chase a fellow psychic, in a bid to track down the remainder of the infamous Al Capones walking stick for the owner of the Onyx Hotel I think she was about to find out!
The quest they set out on was one that took them all over the country and that brought an exciting edge to the story, not everything was smooth sailing as you would imagine and as their time together progressed I was enchanted by the way their abilities impacted on the way they reached to each other.
This was a pair that had everything they could have ever wanted literally at their fingertip!

I was a little disappointed by this book. While I really enjoyed the second book in this series with its character development, describing of the scenery and the lovable characters, I found this one lacking. The characters stood still. I had the impression none of them even wanted to develop. They were stuck in their ways and obviously too stubborn to do something against it or work to reach happiness. In the end they adjusted a little, but not in a way I would describe as “development”. It was more a thing of “who is the most stubborn”. I liked to meet the characters from the other books again and hope there’ll be more books in this series.
The plot was well developed and the writing style was easy to read. I liked the idea of a “modern life” treasure hunter with psychic abilities and the glimpses of Al Capone we got. Most of the side characters were better developed than the MCs and that’s what made me stick with the book. The side characters and the lovingly developed plot. I really liked the story and the idea and the writing style, but not the characters.
Would I recommend this book anyways? Yes, absolutely, because it was fun reading it and the plot itself deserves to be read.
