In Erika Wilde’s latest installment in the Vegas Heat Series, she beautifully tackles two intertwining stories that unites four individuals to revisit their past, unravel secrets and decide what the future may have in store for them. In Take A Chance, Wilde encourages readers to take a chance on love, trust, and forgiveness.

Sean O’Brien is a former con-man who has rebuilt a new life for himself. As a bartender and an employee of The Reliance Group, Sean wants to put his skills in good use in helping others. His life as ex-con man had taught him a lesson to be a better man and so when his boss Caleb assigns him a case, Sean is forced to face his past as he needs to get close to the daughter of the man, who betrayed Sean’s father.

photo 540f64c94b97407e8a011fb4cbefd1_zpska5dulwb.gif Their lives were too different, their pasts too intertwined and complicated.”

Zoe Russo is oblivious to her father’s past and so she finds it hard to believe the things that Sean has accused of her father. But as money trails leads to her dad possibly involved in another Ponzi scheme, Zoe is conflicted as to what to believe. As she works closely with Sean to find her dad, what happens when she begins to fall in love with him? And will Sean be able to let go all the anger and resentment he has for Zoe’s dad?

While the Sean and Zoe story takes centerfold, another love story is taking place between Zoe’s best friend, Jessica Morgan as she reunites with her first and only love, Noah Young. Jessica is a rising pop star with all the glitz and glamour but her love life is non-existent. That is until….she runs into Noah Young. It has been nine years since Jessica broke up with him with no explanation and this time Noah needs answers and most importantly he needs Jessica back in his life. Will Jessica be able to tell him the reasons why she had ended their relationship so abruptly? And will Jessica finally take a chance and trust Noah’s love?

Take A Chance is a sweet charming fast paced book that beautifully blends two love stories. Each story has a different feel but definitely have that take a chance element implemented into their story. So if you are ready to get lost in a story that reminds us all second chances do exist and it’s never too late to take a chance in life and love then this book is definitely for you.

I am in the minority here so take my review with a pinch of salt. Alas a 3 star read.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Whereas I enjoy Ms. Wilde’s writing and the overall plot here was really good. I didn’t like any of the main characters in the book.

In no way whatsoever did Sean O’Brien come over as sincere IMO. Although he apologised for his mess-ups and he meant well it all felt kind of flat for me. Really flat.

Zoe Russo is a designer. Also not a fan of things I find appealing in a female lead do not ask me why, different strokes and all that jazz. And the connection they had? Wasn’t feeling that either. Too many lies where in the way at the beginning. I also didn’t feel as if they meshed well together.
To the plot it is good with the right amount of suspense although at times I also felt that we were treading water. The end was unexpected with that turn of events. So that is new one for me.

What I also didn’t like which irritated me was the interaction with another couple in the book that being the famous musician Jessica Morgan and Noah, childhood sweethearts they would have been better off getting a novella. Once again just my opinion. It took away from the overall plot between Zoe and Sean.

worth a read so don’t base you wanting to read it on my review.

Take A Chance is the second book in Erika Wilde's Vegas Heat series. The charming ex-con artist, Sean O'Brien, takes center stage in the newest of The Reliance Group series. Sean believes that his skills from his past life can be used to help people and is extremely thankful for his job as a bartender at the Onyx Casino and as a member of The Reliance Group. And his newest assignment for The Reliance Group puts his face to face with his past and the daughter of the man that put his father in jail.

Zoe Russo is trying to open her flagship store in the shopping center at the Onyx Casino when she meets the charming Sean O'Brien. She has no idea who he is and how their pasts intertwined. Their attraction is instant and she feels that she has finally found a man that she can trust. But soon she discovers the true reason why Sean pursued her in the first place. When Sean shows her the evidence of her father's illegal dealings, she finds it hard to believe this of the man that raised her.

Will Sean be able to let go of past resentment and the anger he has for Zoe's dad and have a future with the woman that he has fallen in love with?

Again, Take A Chance was originally published as Night After Night by Janelle Denison.

Title: Take A Chance
Author: Erika Wilde

4 unexpected stars

After having read the first instalment from the Lucky series by Erika Wilde, i had found out that it was previously published under her other pen name. i had enjoyed the new aspect of Erika Wilde's vast personas when it comes to the many different genres that she writes. Take A Chance, the second instalment in the series, tells the story of Sean and Zoe on the Vegas strip as they try to ignore the growing attraction between one another.

4 breath taking dreams

Like it was with the first book, i found myself intrigued with this aspect of Erika Wilde's facade - again, the majority of her romantic suspense novels i've read from her were duets and this was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the dynamics between Sean and Zoe, and their chemistry so very strong that i wanted to read more and faster. The many aspects - suspense, drama, the power struggles, that Erika Wilde added to her story only made Take A Chance even more thrilling and for certain i'll be looking forward to the next book in the series.

Title: Take A Chance (Vegas Heat #2)
Author: Erika Wilde
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Rating: 3/5

This is the second book in the Vegas Heat series and it can be read as a standalone.

The focus of the story is on Sean and Zoe who first meet when he walks into her shop there's an instant attraction between them both but all's not as simple as boy meets girl their lives are intertwined in an unexpected way which puts a spin on the way the story pans out it's complicated and mysterious a tale of second chances and redemption.

This was my first read by Erika Wilde, I'll definitely be checking out her other books. Take A Chance was a well written fast paced read with a decent plot and likeable characters it just flowed along nicely and was very enjoyable.

Two couples with stories that inter-twine. You have Sean O'Brien. He's the hot, cocky bar-tender/ex-con man and a member of the Reliance Group. He's given an assignment to find Grant Russo who happens to be the man who put his father in prison. To find Grant, Sean poses as a leasing agent for the Onyx Hotel & Casino to meet Grant's daughter Zoe Russo.

Zoe Russo is the Owner of ZR Designs and is looking for a storefront for her first boutique to sell her merchandise. She arrives for the meeting at the Onyx with her BFF Jessica Morgan. Zoe is charmed by Sean, but has no time for men. She has a boutique to open and is worried about her father because she can't reach him. The heat and sexual tension between these two is seriously hot even after Sean's cover is blown. Zoe wants to locate her father so she agrees to work with Sean. There are twists and turns I didn't expect, but truly enjoyed how the story ended.

As mentioned, you get two stories for the price of one. Jessica Morgan is a big time Rock Star who happens to be the silent business partner for ZR Designs. Jessica is all about the music, her BFF, and has no time for men. While Zoe signs the lease on the ZR Designs boutique Jessica deals with her fans, and then walks into the Onyx Club when she hears her music. The Club is closed and Jessica is caught by the one man she never forgot or expected to see again. Noah Young is the Manager of the Club and is shocked to see Jessica after all this time. Jessica hurt Noah when she broke up with him a couple of months after H.S. Graduation. This second story is more of a second chance love story, and it brings with it a lot of angst, regret, hurt, and love.

This book was very hard to put down … the twist and turns keep drawing you back in. I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Judge a person, not by the mistakes made, but the lessons learned from them. Erika Wilde, has created a world where there is no black and white, only shades of grey. People have an agenda, hearts get broken and secrets abound. The Reliance Group may be unorthodox but they know how to get the job done. Sean O'Brien is a bad boy. He toes the line between con - artist and good guy, but hasn't quite figured out where he belongs. TRG saved him from his former life only to set him on a course that will have him facing his past in an up close and personal way. Zoe Russo is a woman with a plan. Find a place to launch her business and make it a success. Turning her dream into a reality has been anything but easy, then Sean walks into her life. Complicated, just became a whole lot worse. Let the explosives begin. Take a Chance is full of complexities. Ranging from a morality tale, to a redemption story and lead by an electromagnetic force of attraction, Ms. Wilde takes readers on an emotionally charged journey of healing that makes for a bumpy ride, but a worthy opponent.

Take a Chance is the 2nd book in the Vegas Heat Series and is the story of two sets of couples, Sean and Zoe, and Zoe’s best friend Jessica and a man from her past, Noah.

Sean O’Brien and Zoe Russo’s lives are tangled together in the most intriguing way. While trying to work together to solve the mystery of what Zoe’s dad is really up to, the two of them form a relationship that neither were prepared for. Will Sean and Zoe be able to fully trust one another with all of the secrets between them? What happens when what they thought was going on is not exactly as it seems?

In Take a Chance, we also get another love story. Jessica Morgan has been reunited with her first and last love, Noah Young. Noah wants answers to what went so wrong between the two of them but Jessica wants to leave it all in the past. When the two of them realize their love for each other has never died, will Jessica be able to finally be honest with Noah?

Both stories were different types of love stories yet they were interweaved perfectly. There were so many secrets and issues in both of the couple’s pasts that makes a promising future, for all of them, so hard to believe in. Second chances do exist and this book proves it. This was a book based on love, trust and forgiveness. I enjoyed every minute of it.

I loved everything about this book, and imagine my surprise when we got 2 HEAs instead of 1 (insert happy dance!) The more happiness the better! Playboy Sean definitely met his match in Zoe. A job he initially took to get justice and retribution for his father quickly turned into a hot, steamy, all consuming romance that neither could deny - even after Zoe found out the truth about Sean's intentions and her father's past. I have to admit that I was shocked when it was revealed that Zoe's father was innocent this time around, but all's well that end's well.

Then, we add into the mix Zoe's best friend Jessica reconnecting with her first love Noah, who manages the bar where Sean works. Even after 9 years apart, Noah never gave up on Jessica, and while it took a while to break through her defenses, his patience finally paid off. When I noticed the direction Ms. Wilde was taking this book with 2 different couples, I was worried that we wouldn't get complete stories for either couple, but I am very impressed with how well both stories were told. One didn't take anything away from the other, and the book flowed seamlessly.

I very much look forward to reading the final book in the series, and am hoping that Ms. Wilde finally gives us SOMETHING regarding Caleb and Skye. I would totally be ok with another 2 couple book... :-)

CAN I GIVE THIS ONE 10 stars. I want Sean to be my new book boyfriend! I fell in love with him in Game of Chance and so glad he got his own story. The chemistry between Sean and Zoe is as hot as the Vegas desert. He needs to go undercover and use her to find her father. There is also a history between both their fathers. Is it a little revenge? Sean and Zoe are hot together. I loved that she was so open and honest even after finding out his truths. I love how he wanted to be a good guy for her and not use her. The scene in the cabana was hot hot hot. And the ending for Sean and Zoe was an “”awwwwww” moment for me. I really hate to give parts of a story away so you just HAVE to read it for yourself. I really enjoyed the story line and loved her friend Jessica and Nick’s story. The telling of the 2 really flowed well. Can I have the next book NOW please !!!!! I received an ARC for an honest review and I happily give it because this book is definitely on my re-read list!!!!

Take a Chance (Vegas Heat Book 2) is the captivating, unputdownable love story of Sean O'Brien and Zoe Russo. It's not JUST a love story....it's a tale of love lost, redemption, revenge and making up for mistakes made in the past. You also get a love story within a love story! Zoe's BFF Jessica and Nick, a guy from her past that she thought would stay in her past! The heartbreaking twists and turns, secrets kept and revealed kept me turning the pages until the very last word.

This series, so far, ranks right up there with my top faves and I can't wait for the next (and last) book in this entertaining, unforgettable trilogy! I wish I could give it MORE than 5 *****!

I definitely liked this one more than the first in the series. Take a Chance has a little something different though. Book one focused on one couple Take a Chance has a bit more at stake.

With two couples needing to take the title to heart, it makes for an interesting switch off. The story keeps you moving. But I'm still waiting for Caleb's downfall. I had hoped this book was his demise but it looks like the author is holding on to that tease pretty tight.

We shall see...

This book is about redemption and absolving ones self for past mistakes. Sean is an ex-con turned Onyx Casino bartender plus he works for The Reliance Group also. They are looking for the man who lied and put Sean's father in prison years ago and seems to have embezzled from his company in a Ponzi scam. Zoe is the con artist's daughter. She works with Sean to find her dad. There's a lot of chemistry between the two of them. There is a secondary romance also. This book is full of emotion. There is sadness, desire, fear, love and anxiety. This book is a romantic suspense and the secondary characters are a second chance romance. I just loved reading this book.

Two love stories for the price of one! Both stories are different, but just as good. The two females are best friends that each get their happily ever afters. One with a blast from the past and one connected to her father's past. This book gives you a pop star, long lost love, con men, ponzi schemes, and jewelry designers all in one. I really loved it.

I'll be honest it took me a little while to get into this book. It was sort of slow to start but then I couldn't put it down. This is really about two separate couples. Zoe and Sean, Jessica and Nick. Sex, con men and rock n roll.

Sean, a bartender and employee of The Reliance Group, was a con man and he learned from his father, who's serving fifteen years in jail for a ponzi scheme. His partner turned on him and got nothing while he's still in prison. When a wealthy businessman comes to the TRG, and wants them to find Grant Russo, the ex partner, now believed to have taken off with millions of dollars. Sean is to get close to his daughter, Zoe, and see if she knows where her father is.

Zoe is an accessory and jewelry designer. Her best friend Jessica is the spokesperson, silent partner and rock and roll singer. They are looking for a place to open their flagstaff store. She is attracted to Sean but was hurt before and knows Sean could break her heart. Sean doesn't want to get close because of his background and him wanting revenge against her father. But someone is threatening her and he must keep her safe, while trying to locate her father.

Jessica runs into her ex Nick, after years of being apart, and he wants closure. She left while he was gone to college and never heard from her. Jessica has secrets that she's afraid to tell Nick. She has never stopped loving him. They have a fling until she starts her tour but Nick isn't about to give her up.

This book is even better than the first. As the resident playboy of The Reliance Group, ex-con Sean O'Brien gets more than he bargained for when he is assigned to get close to the daughter of the man who helped put his father behind bars. Zoe Russo has no idea the life her father used to lead and is shocked when she finds out the real reason behind Sean's initial interest in her. The chemistry between the unlikely pair is off the charts and the attraction is difficult to fight.

And not only do we get Sean and Zoe's story, but Noah from TRG meets up with his high school sweetheart and gets a second chance at the one that got away.

This book checked off my list of must haves for a great romance: great characters, interesting and believable storyline, a bit of mystery and steamy chemistry. Well done, Ms. Wilde.

In the second book featuring the members of The Reliance Group, Sean O'Brien takes centre  stage. Our charismatic ex-con comes face to face with his past and the family who helped incarcerate his father.

Sean has a lot of regrets in his life, especially his own foray into the world of white collar crime; although he has served his punishment and turned his life around, he still isn't able to let go of the idea that he is forever tainted by his past.

Recruited to track down his father's old business partner turned informant via his beautiful designer daughter, Zoe. Sparks fly between Sean and Zoe from the beginning. Although unwilling to let go of his resentment towards her father, Sean soon realises that Zoe is inherently good. Caring and compassionate, Zoe quickly alters Sean's perception of her. in doing so, Sean has to battle with his own past in order to believe he is worthy of a real relationship or will his past alter Zoe's opinion of him.

I was a little disappointed to find Nathan and Nicole (Game of Chance) did not get a continuation of their story, although they were mentioned in passing during the plot. However, Take a Chance does provide a two-for-one plot featuring Zoe's best friend and pop-star, Jessica and a second chance at her first love. Erika does a fantastic job of weaving the separate plot-lines into the narrative and progressing each aspect simultaneously.

The story is jam packed, alongside the wonderful romance both for Zoe and Jessica, there is the thriller aspects concerning ponzi schemes and corporate fraud. The past battles with the present and only by dealing with outstanding issues can the characters achieve the happy future they deserve.

I'm excited for Valerie's story in Last Chance but have to say I desperately want to know a lot more about the enigmatic head of The Reliance Group, Caleb.

Take A Chance is the second book in the Vegas Heat series by Erika Wilde. I am hooked. I like the first book in this series, but I love this one. Take A Chance is a twofer, so to speak in that we get two romances in one. The primary story is the second mission of The Reliance Group, focusing on Sean O’Brien and Zoe Russo. The ancillary story is a second chance (my favorite trope) romance about Zoe’s friend Jessica meeting up with her old flame Noah Young.

Caleb, the leader of The Reliance Group, tasks Sean with finding Grant Russo, a man Sean blames for betraying his father. We briefly meet Sean in the first book when he is bartending and at a party. There is something about this character that grabs my attention even with his brief appearances. He is fun and has some interesting history. Now his hot little self has my full attention.

Sean has a history that he isn’t proud of and he wants to make amends the only way he knows how—putting his con-man skills to work for good. He is grateful to Caleb for giving him a fresh start. Caleb has a way of assigning his team to jobs that make them face their past and their fears.

Zoe Russo is Grant’s daughter. When she initially meets Sean, Zoe feels an attraction but pushes it aside because she has a new business to get running. Zoe needs to concentrate on her priorities and not get involved with a man. It isn't the right time for her. However, she is starting to worry because she can get in touch with her father. Sean could be the resource she needs.

There is conflict because Zoe sees her father through rose colored glasses and doesn’t believe the things Sean says about him. Gradually, however, she questions if she knows Grant at all because there are indications that he isn’t the man Zoe knows and loves, she agrees to help Sean find him.

I like the way the story develops. Everything moves at a fast pace with some unexpected twists. The characters are developed beautifully, and I formed a connection with them quickly. The added benefit of Jessica and Noah’s love story is woven into the overall plot nicely. I’m am a full-on sucker for a second chance romance. Watching this couple work through their issues is well done.

My only negative comment is that I want to know a little more about how Nathan and Nicole are doing, but in reality, there isn’t too much time passing to add to their story at this point. The next book is Valerie’s (an interesting character thus far) story which makes me wonder if the series is going to end with me longing to know Caleb’s story. (I only know of three books planned so far.)

Take a Chance has an intriguing cast of characters that are presented to the reader in a way that will capture your heart. At times, you will be on the edge of your seat, and at other times you will hope they all come through intact. I highly recommend this series, however, if you only have time for one book right now, Take A Chance stands nicely on its own. It is an excellent romantic suspense story that entertains from page one.

TAKE A CHANCE is about redemption and maybe even about second chances: To not judge a person by past mistakes if they learned their lessons from them. There’s so much more than just black and white – and Sean O’Brien is the prime example for that: As charming and good-willed the sexy bartender might be, a happy fulfilled life with a woman who loves him unconditionally just does not seem to be in the cards for him – all thanks to his shady past and him being an ex-con.

At least he has his work life set: Not only is he working as a bartender, he is also part of The Reliance Group, doing good with a bunch of people who saw the potential for good in him. Only his newest task is forcing him to face his past once again: He needs to find his father’s former partner in crime, and the best way to do so is through his daughter Zoe.

Zoe Russo knows what she wants from life: She is an up and coming designer for accessories looking to open her first store in Vegas. That’s when Sean walks into her life, posing as a real estate agent that takes a personal interest in her – all in order to keep an eye on Zoe and find out what her dad his really up to.

Both of them have reasons to be wary of the other. He does not know the extent to which Zoe is involved in her father’s con, while Zoe mistrusts men altogether after being hurt by an ex. Still, there is this undeniable attraction between them they can’t shake and that is just getting stronger. But secrets, lies and mystery are hardly a stable foundation to build a real relationship on. Solving the puzzle around Grant Russo just got so much more complicated…

I also need to mention Jessica Morgan, Zoe’s best friend, who plays a key role to Zoe’s success as a designer. Even though a secondary character, I fell for her easily and my urge to know more about her grew. And then I was at the point of the story where it was suddenly told from her point of view. That my huge smile did not crack my face in two was all. Yes, this book contains a second love story, the one of Jessica and her second chance at happiness with her one and only love Noah Young. Their relationship ended abruptly and without an explanation by Jessica years ago, and Noah is on a mission to get answers and finally find closure. But what he gets is so much more, as the sparks between them reignites as strong as ever…

Both storylines were completely different and yet so perfectly intertwined that I wouldn’t want the story any other way. A book full of secrets, second chances and suspenseful twists and turns everywhere. An enthralling and sizzling emotional ride I enjoyed very much.

Take A Chance is book 2 in the Vegas Heat series and is about Sean and Zoe. Sean is the son of a con-artist, who learned the tricks of the trade from his father. After a stint in prison for his last con, Sean is trying to redeem himself and is given a second chance by Caleb, founder of The Reliance Group, as a bartender at the Onyx Casino, as well as becoming a member of TRG. His newest assignment at TRG is to find Grant Russo, the man who Sean's father worked a Ponzi scheme with, and got Sean's father 15 years in prison. Grant has gone missing, along with millions of dollars from investors. The job is to find out where Grant is by getting close to his daughter, Zoe.

Zoe is an up-and-coming designer, and is looking for a boutique to sell her fashion accessories in Vegas. It will be the flagship store for ZR Designs, and Zoe's dream come true. Zoe meets with Sean at a vacant shop in the promenade of shops in the Onyx, and he introduces himself as the retail leasing agent. There is an immediate attraction between the two, and it will take all of Sean's willpower to keep in mind that he's on the job and to keep his hands off Zoe.

After the business meetings are complete and the lease signed on the boutique, Sean can't stay away and asks Zoe to go out to celebrate. She agrees and they have a great evening together and realize just how attracted they are to each other. But Zoe is cautious with all men after her fiance ended up being a cheater and broke her heart and her spirit. When they do decide to give dating a try, Zoe ends up overhearing about what Sean is supposed to be doing - getting in her good graces to find her father.

What follows is a story of lust, love, trust, betrayal, heartbreak, intrigue, and two people trying to make themselves better. He in trying to live an honest life and make up for his past mistakes, and she in trying to learn how to trust again. I look forward to reading the third book in this series.

Oh, there is also a great secondary story within this book. It's a second chance romance between Jessica, Zoe's best friend, and Noah, the boy Jessica left behind when she started her pop star career. It is sad, sweet, and a great break in the main story.

Take a Chance is Book #2 in the Vegas Heat series. Even though there are related characters, you do not need to read Game of Chance, Book #1 in the series.

Sean O'Brien is a charismatic, sexy bartender at the Onyx Casino trying to put his tainted past behind him. Once a con-man, Sean has turned his life around and is now part of The Reliance Group. His boss, Caleb, has a new assignment for Sean and he can't believe what he's being asked to do. The assignment is to track down his father's business partner that put Sean's Dad in jail 15 years ago. The pawn in this game in order to find more information about the missing man is Zoe Russo, the ex-con man's daughter. Seems easy enough, but this is personal to Sean!

Zoe is a designer that is working to open a shop in Las Vegas to display her accessory line. Thanks to Sean, a "leasing agent," she finds the perfect location at the Onyx Casino. This gives Sean the perfect opportunity to spend more time with Zoe hoping she will divulge the information Sean so desperately needs about her father.

The attraction between the two is mutual, but Zoe has been burned before and doesn't want to repeat past mistakes. Sean still feels guilty about hurting people in his past and keeps his distance from romantic entanglements, thinking he is not worthy of something more meaningful in his life. Despite their attraction, Sean knows his goal is to find Zoe's Dad to avenge his father. However, as we know sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants.

I enjoyed the Zoe and Sean's story, their connection was strong and the heat between them was amazing. There was suspense, drama and great supporting characters. I thought it was interesting there were a few chapters dedicated to Zoe's best friend, Jessica, and her relationship with Noah, the ex-love of her life from high school. I enjoyed reading about them, but wondered if it was necessary to the journey of Zoe and Sean. However, I really liked Jessica and Noah. Maybe there could be more about their relationship in the future. A book or novella dedicated to them would be fun!

Thanks for another fun and saucy read Erika!

Interesting twist in book 2 of the (Vegas Heat Series), one that's hard to pull off due to the amount of 'voices' in the reader's head. It can get a bit cramped and noisy in there. However Ms. Wilde did give it a go and for the most part it worked.
Sean's an ex-con man sent to find out the truth about another con-man and the person responsible for his father being in prison and the only way to do that is to get close to the man's daughter. Fashion accessory designer Zoe Russo.
Pretending to be the casino's leasing agent, he has to use all his wiles to woe Zoe, not just to land her as a business client for the Onyx but to garner as much information from her as he can.
Sparks fly from the beginning, Sean hates the fact he's attracted to her because of who her father is. But he knows he'll use whatever means necessary to get the job done.
Zoe's captivated and amused by Sean, she's not used to men being quite so blatant in their sexuality or coming on to her so fast, especially when her best friend, and famous pop star Jessica Morgan is with her.
Even though Sean and Zoe's story is the main focus, Jessica and Noah Young have a fast-paced second chance at love story to tell too.
As Sean digs deeper, into the Ponzi scheme that her father appears to have immersed so many investors in, he falls further for the blonde beauty and hates that this sweet, innocent being caught up in the ugliness that is her father. Stealing away in the middle of the night, Russo Senior seems to have left Zoe to be charged with it all.
Can they overcome the past and save their future.
Will Jessica be able to explain to Noah what happened all those years ago, and will he forgive her.
Whew, this was a fast-paced story that kept me turning the pages to find out what happened next. I enjoyed the ending after all the rollercoaster of a ride the story had sent me on.
Looking forward to the third and last in this series, Last Chance, coming soon.

4.5 Stars - Take a Chance was another sexy, fast-paced, couldn't-put-down read by Erika Wilde. I'm loving this new Vegas Heat series! The guys are mouth-watering, the ladies are strong, the stories are intriguing, and the sex is smoking.

In book 2, we have the privilege of witnessing two individuals with secrets from their past finally find healing and love. Sean, the eternal bachelor/ex-con man, becomes enthralled with Zoe, a sweet and caring woman who fears losing herself by trusting the wrong man again. Then there's Zoe's best friend and pop superstar, Jessica, who is confronted with her past and the pain and heartache that caused her abrupt departure from her high school sweetheart and true love, Noah.

This book was full of breathtaking eroticism and sensual need. I was anxious for them to find happiness with their partners and hated knowing that it was going to be a tough road that they would have to traverse to get there. It was especially heartbreaking to hear of Zoe's lack of trust and past pain being aware that Sean was deceiving her. It was unfortunate, too, because he truly felt deeply for her and was trying to balance that with his job. I enjoyed watching his transformation, their growth as a couple, and how they navigated through Sean's secrets and the mystery of Zoe's missing dad.

In regard to Jessica and Noah, I was saddened by what happened to her all those years ago and longed for her to open up to Noah so they could find peace and be happy once again. I loved how caring Noah was during their time together, understanding that she needed to reconnect with him before she was willing to explain her reasons for leaving. Their's was a wonderful and sweet side story.

I loved the multiple points of view and the dual romances. It was wonderful watching Zoe and Sean discover their passion for something real and Jessica and Noah resurrect that first love lost so long ago.

This is a revised, updated version of a previous publication and the second of the Vegas Heat series. While characters overlap, it can easily be read as a standalone.

Sean used to make his living as a con artist. Now an ex-con, he is given a second chance by Caleb Roux to work for the Onyx and The Reliance Group. His last scam caused an innocent woman to get hurt and he carries a lot of guilt from it. He is a playboy and a huge flirt who isn’t looking for anything but a good time.

Zoe Russo is a fashion designer and the daughter of the man (Grant Russo/Elliot Cooke) who put Sean’s father in jail for a crime they both committed. She is smart, independent and business savvy. She was cheated on by her ex-fiancé. Now she is relationship shy, and with her business just getting started, doesn’t have time for one anyway.

When it appears Grant Russo is up to old tricks and goes missing, Caleb asks Sean to get close to Zoe to try to locate him.

I liked the small piece of Sean I saw in book one and was looking forward to his story. I enjoy watching playboys fall and have to work for what they want, but he felt a little too slick for me (I know, it used to be his business). The lies kept piling up and then part of the truth is revealed but he still holds back the big one. Zoe should have made him work a little harder at the end. Their connection wasn’t consistent for me.

We also get a second love story. Jessica Morgan, pop star, and Zoe’s best friend, gets her HEA. This storyline had a life of its own and pulled away from the main story in my opinion. I felt the pull more between these two than the main characters and felt myself waiting for their next appearance.

Took me a minute to pick up on the twist before it was revealed at the end. That’s a plus.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by the author.

Erika Wilde is bringing you a great series with Vegas Heat. Sean did not disappoint as he came out of his bartender shell. We met him in the first book and he seemed like an easy going and flirty kind of guy. Nope, he really isn't that kind of a guy! I mean he is still sexy as sin and can charm his way and have a girl melt into goo. He has a lot of demons he is fighting and gets an assignment from his boss he just can not refuse. He is in for one big surprise once he meets his person of interest in the mission. He needs to keep control more than ever.

Zoe is a sweetheart. She has a big heart and huge love for fashion accessories. She has a plan and ready to take on life and move on to the next level. Then she meets Sean and all her pretty plans go on the back burner for a moment or two. Mostly when they are fighting their urge to jump each other. I love that she is tough and she may seem sweet as sugar, but she got the spice to back up the attitude when she needs it. When she gets some really bad news and uncovers an ugly truth from the past, she stays strong and is determine to accept the truth no matter how hard it was.

Anndd..Erika gives a second story in one with Jessica and Noah. I love how she implemented these characters in as well without it feeling like you were trying to keep up. You get their back story, read of their passion, and how they reconnect. Jessica by the way is a famous singer who happens to be Zoe's best friend. I love their story too. I may have to reread to see which couple was hotter behind closed doors ;)

I enjoyed this book. I love all the characters and some of the laughs we get. The drama of course was there for the men of The Reliance Group to clean up and find the truth. The sexy time scenes we get were caliente! I'm excited to see what is in store for us in book 5!!!

I read the first book in the series and really enjoyed it so I was hoping for another treat when I picked up this, book two and I have to say that I was not disappointed.
I thought the way the author wove the lives of Sean and Zoe and also Jessica and Noah together was handled fabulously.
I was so absorbed by the way that Sean and Zoe were engaged, working together deliciously to unravel the mystery of what was going on in her father’s life and that quest brought them and unexpected result …a relationship that for two intelligent people they didn’t appear to see on the horizon. I thought that was a clever ploy by the author because their almost blind ambivalence gave me the opportunity to fully explore whether they could really fulfil what each other needed and would they be able to work through the secrets that they both held so deeply…there were a lot of layers to unravel in this relationship and I had my fingers crossed that they would be able to see past eth smoke and find a way to make them work…but it was far from a certainty.
With Jessica and Noah, the story is a whole different ballgame because they have a past, one that Jessica would be happy to leave in their past but now that Noah is back, he is determined to get answers to what happened between the two of them, but would that desire to unearth where they went so wrong before bringing them back together or is it just the final death rattle of a relationship that should continue to be resigned to the history books?
I thought the author was poignant in the portrayal of just what it takes to not only get but deserve a second chance, of showing what it truly takes to not only forgive but to forget which isn’t as easy as it may seem. Both couples had choices to make…the only decision I cared about was would they make those decision together or not!
