The Lord of the Rings is a classic tale of heroism, following a motley group of brave souls as they battle harsh conditions, determined enemies, and even their own shortcomings in a long-shot attempt to destroy the One Ring before Sauron can reclaim it and use it to destroy Middle Earth. After many trials and tribulations, the members of the Fellowship of the Ring successfully destroy the One Ring, defeat the Black Army, and return to their homelands as celebrated heroes.
Unfortunately, life has a way of getting really boring after such a grand adventure, and as it turns out, boredom was only the beginning of the former Fellowship's problems. Over the course of this book, you'll see how the survivors spent the years after the War of the Ring being subjected to a wide array of indignities, disappointments, unexpected epiphanies, and gruesome (and often overlooked) deaths.
