Emma is a Black/white Muslim American mom of five, ages 6-22, in her mid-forties just trying to live her best life…which usually includes coffee, wine, and an unfortunate habit of one-clicking any pretty special edition that winds up in her feed. (If you DM it, she will come.)

She likes K-pop (#army, #moa) cultivation dramas (Till the End of the Moon,) precioussss silence, and collects more makeup than she uses.

If you are looking for romantic epic fantasy set in complex, diverse, sex positive worlds with morally gray societies, powerful anti-heroes with THAD energy, multi-racial heroines at least 35—if not 350—coming into power, and a central theme of family, both dysfunctional and supportive, then you will binge her stories..

Nope. I give up.

This was frustrating. Sera was headstrong, wilful and too arrogant as she rushed to get her revenge on the traffickers. This, of course, leads to not only getting herself up to her eyebrows in trouble, but also roping in the rest of her family. She needs a kick in the rear. She never seems to learn from her mistakes and I hate that in a main character.

Dawnthorne and Etienne were just horrible characters, but to be expected from antagonists. However, thanks to Sera and Amnan’s reckless behaviour, I now don’t give two figs about any of them. I’m out.

2 stars ⭐️ only because the spiders were interesting.

The Silver Spider: A Dragon Shifter Urban Fantasy Steampunk Romance
Dragon, Stone & Steam Book 2
by Emma Alisyn
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My HOLY WOW! This series is DRAGON FANTASTIC! It's such a fabulous reading and I'm so impress how FANTASTIC this story is! This sequel to the Dragon, Stone & Steam The Mountain King series just awesome and Emma Alisyn is so creative, that her books reminds me of those old Calgon commercials that said Calgon take me away, Emma's World building can take me away to a enjoyable FANTASY LAND. I know I'm telling my age ( HaHaHa😂) but I really did enjoy reading the story and her characters that took me outed-this world! I feel Emma Alisyn writing is one of the greatest and foremost descriptive storytelling that allows me to see and feel as I am pulled into the story while I read. Her story concept is well written with characters that's well developed. This features a Dragon shifter Amnan and Serephone eldest daughter who is half fae and half human witch. Amnan knows he must follow Serephone to keep her out of trouble and because she is his mate. Serephone intends to shake Amnan off and keep him from following her. What a story its ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS and I have enjoyed The Dragon, Stone and Steam series. The Silver Spider A Dragon Shifter Urban Fantasy Steampunk Romance Book 2. The characters are sizzling hot, interesting, exhilarating, intriguing, sensual and charming. The dialogue is sensual, witty, exciting, fun and believable. The story is fast-paced, with a great flow which you won't be able to put down, it's steamy hot, there's drama, sex and I thoroughly enjoyed every word of this book and I can't hardly wait to read the next book in this series because each book gets better and better. This is the second book in the Dragon, Stone and Steam series it's a absolute PHENOMENAL read. What a enjoyable entertaining series. Another wonderful story that's even more thrilling and captivating than the last! Buy this book because You will want to read this great book This is a Sci-fi romance that's steamy hot, with lots of tempers flaring, total devotion, hot warriors with a happy ending! Grab this book and buckle up! The ride is more than worth it! What a awesome romantic read that I highly recommend. I voluntarily reviewed this book. I love the females in this series. The heroine in this book was no exception. I was a bit disappointed with how this one ended, but I'm sure we will see the hero and heroine develop more in future books for the series. I also wish there had been more dragon shifting. At times I almost forgot that the hero was a dragon shifter.
It was still a solid story with endearing characters and I look forward to the next installment.

I'd give this 2.25 to maybe 2.5 stars but that is a little hard to do. I really enjoyed the first book and I wanted so badly to enjoy this one but it just fell flat for me. We met Kailigh (Kai) and her 3 daughters and Mddugh and his 3 sons in the first book. The major focus of this book is Serephone (Sere) and Amnan, two of their grown children. In the first book Kai's super toughness need to do it all on her own was bearable but I just knew Sere was going to be annoying in this way because I didn't particularly care for her in the first book. The girls' attitude and the need to do it all on their own in this dangerous world verges into too stupid to live territory. And while I think the world building and setting of these stories is beautiful there was definitely something missing between Sere and Amnan. And the ending, while it isn't sad or a cliffhanger it is just strange to me. In some ways it makes sense as I don't imagine Sere becoming a blushing bride. But the ending left me unsatisfied. Feeling like what was the point of the book? And my last complaint is, maybe I missed it, but I don't recall us ever finding out what exactly happened to Sere to make her so hateful and distrustful toward all men.

Steady and developed with depth and maturity . . . so much more than I expected and no less delicious to read. . .

I don't care what anyone says this one was just want I was hoping. . . Serephone & Amnan. I knew there was a connection in the first book of this series. And I would have expected no less from an incomplete HEA for her and him. Things for them are so much more complicated to be all wrapped with a bow in one read. I love her. I do really, really love her. She feisty, independent, determined and single-minded at times.

The Silver Spider

"There was nothing but ashes inside her. The ashes of anger, of love, of pain." - Serephone

Serephone had always been the strong one; the one her mother and sisters depended on since her father disappeared. Yet now her mother had remarried and Serephone found herself equally annoyed and attracted to her new step brother Amnan.

While investigating the disappearance of several young girls, Serephone is lured into a web of intrigue and deceit, and like a fly in amber, finds herself caught fast....

A fantasy quite unlike any I had ever read before. A mix of adventure, steam punk, high fantasy, romance, with a hint of post apoptotic/dystopian. An interesting tale, fast paced.

The second book in the Dragon, Stone, and Steam series was fantastic. Although you don't have to read the first book to be able to follow along, I would recommend it as the building of the world starts in that one. This makes the second one that much more interesting as the characters move outside the small known rural area they live in and into the glittering world of the domed city.

Serephone is one of three sisters. She has unusual powers that she will learn more about in this story. Her mother, Kailigh, has just married the dragon king, Maddugh. She has inherited three new stepbrothers. One of them, Amnan, is particularly irritating and seems to be following her. She is determined to find out what is behind the attempted kidnapping of one of her sisters, and this leads her to sneak out and travel to the domed city of Seattle.

Amnan finds his new step-sister Serephone to be fascinating. He informs his father of his intention to court her, if she doesn't turn him into a toad or something. When she disappears and he finds out she has gone to the domed city, he flies off to lend his protection and assistance to the disobedient, head-strong, young woman. Gads, the trouble she could get into in the city.

I am not going to spoil the story for you. The domed city is the home of the rich and powerful. Fae, dragons, and humans all together in a place that was built just to cater to the rich. While the rest of the country is lacking in almost everything, including uncontaminated air and water, in the domed city nothing seems to be scarce. Unfortunately for Serephone there are unknown dangers to coming to a place where magic is not hidden like it is at home. The secrets of her heritage will not stay secret for long.

I can't wait for the next books. There are two more sisters and two more brothers to go. Also, a whole new set of characters is added in this book that will allow for even more great stories. Yipee.

I received a free copy of this book from the author. There was no obligation for this review, but I couldn't wait to write it.

This was a great read. The first thing I absolutely loved about this book was the fact that Ms. Alisyn did not force the two main characters into a mating or kids right away. She left the story at a point where the reader is confident in what would happen and would feel as if the story was complete and yet the two main characters can continue to work in their relationship before making any large commitments.
Serephone is a force to be reckoned with. She has no regard for her own life, the only reason she worries about her own is to be sure that someone will stand between her family and anyone who wishes to do them harm. And her family now includes the royal dragons of her hometown which includes Amnan, her step brother and one of the only males who has ever succeeded in getting over the mile high wall she built after her father broke her heart by walking away from her family and cheating on her mom.
Amnan has a pretty good feeling that Serephone will be the death of him but he will be damned if anyone but him will have the great pleasure of murdering the little chit. So he will follow her to the ends of the Earth in order to keep her safe even from herself.
I absolutely loved the story line. The main characters as well as the secondary characters makes you feel so much throughout this book that you can not wait to see what will happen next. Especially with the changes that have occurred in the household. This author has continued to amaze me with how she writes and how willing she is to tailor the normal HEA schema in order to better fit her characters and what her readers like.
I would highly recommend this story to any who love romance, paranormal romance or intense action scenes. This is a story that will leave you satisfied and yet wanting to learn more about all of the characters in the book.

This is the second book in the Dragon, Stone and Steam series. The first book was the Mountain King. You do not need to read the first book but it was an excellent start to this new series. I could not put either book down. This book is about Serephone. Serephone is an independent woman of undetermined magical power and lineage. She has a fierce temper, heart of a hunter and the mechanical prowess to create small mechanized spiders to do her bidding – a formidable woman. In the first book, human traffickers tried to kidnap her younger sister Cinvarra and harm her family. She finds that some prisoners have been kept in the dungeon and interrogates them. Using this information leading her to the dome city of Seattle.
Amnan, her step brother, is intrigued by Serephone. She is more like him that she realizes. He knows she is plotting something but what? He will bide his time and follow her into the Dome of Seattle. Serephone is tempting her dragon step brother, she challenges him and that is like catnip to a dragon. He is also falling in love with Serephone and wants to help her.
They try to unravel the mystery of who is behind the human trafficking of young girls for brothels in the domed cities. While making inquiries Serephone is held against her will. Amnan is also taken by a Lord in the Fae Demense.
Will they fight free of the Fae Demense? Will Serephone’s mother and stepfather find them and free them?
There are plenty plot twists and turns, very compelling story. I am ready for the next one, Persia’s story. Persia is Serephone twin sister! I would love to know more about Serephone’s older stepsister, Anissa, her daughter Ione, and Dawnthorne. Great characters, awesome world building, loved it!

I liked this book a bit more than the first one. There is something about it all that gives me a feeling of incompleteness, but I still enjoy the setting, characters, and plots going on.
I don't know if it is because I use TTS to read my books or what but the names just drive me a little bonkers in this series.
I didn't like Kaili too much in her book, but thankfully the things that bugged me weren't prevalent in this book. She only made note of how old she was and how she raised her daughters a couple of times.
The headstrong attitude that all of the main females had going on was still pretty strong in this book, but thankfully Serephone got over hers pretty quickly. She was still headstrong, but it didn’t hover over the line of “waaaaay too freaking much” and she actually gave in to let Amnan help her out. One of the things that I find a bit incomplete, or fail to see for myself, is the emotions of the characters. I get the feeling that they seem to be more on the tell side than show.
I found the introduction of the fae pretty interesting and I look forward to seeing how that is handled in later books. I believe that the way they handle descendants a bit high-handed, but how else could you police something like that?
A neat new series that is a good diversion for a bit, the stories read pretty quickly for me, but so far not one that has me frothing to read the next one.

Serephone is at her mother's wedding celebration and she is not totally happy. She is glad her mother found a good mate but she would be happier if all these dragons would leave her alone. Amnan especially keeps approaching her and getting on her nerves. Then she finds out that the men who attacked her family were being held prisoner in the castle and she decides to get all their information. She wants to track down the person who is arranging for the girls from their town to be kidnapped and sold. Once she has a clue to follow, she sneaks off to Seattle Dome. She figures she has a day's head start before her mother follows.
Amnan enjoys teasing Serephone. He has decided that she is the mate for him but now he just has to convince her. When he figures out Serephone has left for Seattle, he quickly follows. In his opinion, she should stay home where she is safe and let the men of the family handle things. Too bad she doesn't cooperate. He quickly finds Serephone and decides to help her with her search so he would be there if she ran into trouble. Too bad her past is about to cause a whole bunch of trouble.
This is a great book with strong independent females and lots of twists and turns. The story line is getting more and more complex and I can't wait for her sister's story. I voluntarily read a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Not quite...

I honestly didn't like it. I gave it three stars because I appreciate the authors writing and creativity but after the first one this story fell short. I understand the ending and Seres personality and response to the mating. However, I just felt that in the first book they created her to be mysterious and possibly really powerful. I felt like she sucked and got her ass handed to her. I mean not all stories have happy endings but this story was supposed to be about the ass-kicking heroine not a child who was both was naive and lame. She talked a mean game but couldn't really back it up and she went into danger without knowing anything about her enemies. She literally endangered her entire family over something that was being handled. Idk how she figured that she would make better progress then all of the more experienced people around her. But since the story went in that direction AT LEAST she could have handled herself. Not to mention they made the Hero a wimp whose entire story revolved around the heroine. You don't really understand anything about him at all. It just wasn't great. I want to continue the series in hopes that the other sisters stories will be much better.

I really enjoyed this one, Serephone is the strong willed and crafty daughter of Kailigh who married the dragon lord in the first book. (An awesome book too)
She's wary of the people around her and she considers herself the protector of the her family and would give her life for them. So when in the first book her youngest sister is almost kiddanaped to be sold into the skin trade she makes it her job to go after the ones involved. Amnan on the other hand is a powerful and very alpha son of the dragon lord and thinks Serephone, her mother and her sisters are under his protection and is making it his job to be involved in Serephone business and life whether she likes it or not and she doesn't lol. Lots of drama and spice with that too! So when she leaves for her quest to the domed city he is not to far behind her to a very unexpected ending.
I loved the characters in this story so strong and stubborn it made for lots of fun and drama. The story was well written and strong with lots of action.
If your into dragon shifters and magic this is your book and series.
Don't miss it
Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.

Serephone is determined to get to the domed city to find the head of the human trafficers that targeted her and her sisters. Her mother and new husband are hosting their wedding reception when she makes her escape with her dragon stepbrother hot on her heels. Working in a high end brothel as a waitress, she catches the eye of a handsome man. Amnan is watching over her as his attraction to her increases. His dragon wants her for a mate, the man does too. Venturing in to the fae demense has some startling repercussions. Held hostage, she will fight for her life to avoid an oath. This was an excellent 2nd book in the series. It needs a second book, not just a novella to tie up some things. Want more between Amnan and Sere. The story is not finished by a long shot. Lots of loose ends like tiny itchy little cliffhangers. Or like the tiny mechanical spiders that she can call with her magic. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

When I wrote my review for the first book in this series, the words poured from my fingers without any conscious effort on my part. I find that at the end of this book I don't have the same advantage. I'm still in shock from all of the twists and turns this storyline took; my brain and emotions haven't quite settled back into place yet. The connection between Serephone and Amnan was such a fine line to tread, it had to be there but it couldn't be over the top. The way it came across in this book was just perfect. I really enjoyed watching Sere learn that she can accept help without appearing weak and seeing the lengths Amnan was willing go to for her sake is a testament to how deeply he cares. I loved how much this expanded the world. There's new magic, skills, races, customs, and places that we've now seen in action. And I cannot wait to read even more.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
We picked up just where we left off at the end of book 1.
The weeding of Kailigh + Maddugh.
Now Persephone is trying to find out who is the one that gave the orders for the kidnapping.
A clue leads her to the dome city, where the fae reside.
Without telling her mother, she find a job a the dome city.
Amnan follows Persephone, when it is discovered that she is missing.
He is not there to take her back, on the contrary, he wants to help her.
What follows is a game of "cat & mouse," sexual tension, intrigue, love found, etc...
The ending wasn't really the ending. ( only the beginning ! )
I hope that we get to read more about these 2 on the other books in this series.

This is definitely an urban fantasy, not a romance novel. The focus is on tracking down the bad guy from book 1 and not on their relationship.

Frankly, the romance just happened. He meets her, is attracted, starts following her around to "protect" her, and they start investigating together. They never go on a date.

I didn't like the ending of the book either.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Heroine finds out that the father who abandoned her is a fae. And her father's house forces her to take an oath to the house so they can train her, now that they know she exists and has magic. She can't leave without their permission. The hero agrees to stay with her but only with take an oath to her and not the house.

Wow I absolutely enjoyed this book. I knew that Serephone story was going to take us on a epic journey and let me tell you that she didn't disappoint. I'm a little disappointed on the HEA of Amnan & Serephone I understand her struggle, not sure if she fear commitment or not but I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this couple. So they can really get the HEA that they both deserve. Also I want to know more about Serephone mysterious family members Dawnthore & Anissa. Overall enjoyable and entertaining read looking forward to reading more books in this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC I haven't been compensated in any way.

So it continues...

This is the second book in the series and although can be read as a standalone, I would recommend that you read the first book in order to fully appreciate and enjoy book 2.

This book delves into the fae world which has all sorts of crazy rules that will change Serephone and her family's lives. Amnan is a keeper and hopefully we'll see more of this pair in the next book. Also need to know what's going on between Dawnthorne and Anissa! Aarrrgh the suspense...!

Thoroughly recommend this book if you like getting lost in another world, strong characters, magic, and hey, dragons. 😊 I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Love this story line. Started reading this book today and finished it. Could not put it down it had me laughing at the antics of the sisters and dragon brothers. Lets not leave Kai the mom and Maddugh the dragon king also father to the sons.

Serephone’s is the protector of her family and men are not high on her list of likeable characters.
Amnan has been watching over the new family members and one in particular. She will lead him on a merry chase.

Ms. Alisyn has written another great book to keep a reader entertained.

I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book received from the off without obligation to do so.

I admit to being new to this type of novel. Until recently, I had never read anything Steampunk and very little fantasy. I even missed the first book of this series, which did cause a tiny bit of confusion early on in this one but not enough to stop reading. I loved the world of this book and the visions it brought to mind while reading. This story is fun and intriguing. It has touches of romance and adventure with mystery and elements of the paranormal. This is wonderful book and I hope book 3 comes soon. I requested an ARC of this at no cost to the author so that I could provide an honest review.

I really didn’t like Serephone. Given how poor her and her family was, I would’ve have thought that the dragons would be spoiled, but no. It’s the other way around. All the girls in this series annoy me and while I was curious about Serephone’s abilities, I find her really irritating and I can’t read more about her.

It’s a shame because I might have liked Amnan. He seemed like he actually thought things through and knew what he could and should do, whereas Serephone acts without thinking and no respect for anyone.

The characters are definitely putting me off and I’m not sure I’ll want to try other books by this author.

Serephone is determined to find out who is responsible for the sex trafficking that almost snagged her younger sister. She sneaks off to Seattle, she's not as sneaky as she thinks because Annan follows. Serephone doesn't trust men, and she has very good reasons not to, but Am an is determined to protect her.

This book has fascinating, well written characters, and a magic packed, exciting plot with many twists. Wow, I thought the first book was good, I am loving this series and I look forward to the next book. Fantastic!

Second book in a great series. This story follows Sere and Amnan. She is part fae and he is a dragon shifter. To really understand their past and how they met, I highly suggest reading book one first. We find out much re about fae and some questions are answered from the first book. This is a wonderful romance where he really has to prove himself to show her how he feels. I can't wait to read more of the future and to learn more about her sister.

Serephone is one of the twins, and boy is she feisty. She is on a mission and doesn't intend on anyone getting in her way. Amnan has been through a lot, even the death of his mother. These two could be just what the other needs, but they can't see to stay out of their own way.

I really wanted to love these two and see them get a happy ending. I know there is more coming in the series, but I want the answers from here first. lol Hope we get some answers to several questions in the next book!!

This is a great second in the series! Serephone is a kick ass heroine whose Fae heritage gave her a unique skill with her spiders. Amnan, a dragon shifter, is attracted to Serephone, her being his stepsister is not important. Serephone has a mission and Amnan follows her and she knew that he would. Unfortunately, her Line of Fae finds hers and holds her captive. Now along comes her mother and her dragon shifter husband who is the Lord of the Dragons where they live. Then there is a fight Serephone has to endure with her Line of Fae. Lots of action and humor.

Loving this series.
Serephone and Amnan's story.
This series has Fae, Dragons and a little bit of Steampunk.
I would suggest that you read The Mountain King first to get up to date with the backstory and characters, in this book we learn more about the sisters father and there heritage.
A very enjoyable series so far and I can't wait for the next book.

An adventure for dragon & spidergirl

The Silver Spider was part adventure, part mystery, part romance, with none fully executed. Nor was anything really solved. I felt that Amnan got shafted in his deal, and I was just starting to warm up to Serephone when the book ended. Sigh.

I hope the author will give readers a more satisfying conclusion in a sequal or novella. Meanwhile, I eagerly await Persia's tale. I'd also be interested in Anissa's story.

Serephone and Amnan have an excellent adventure in this book. I love the continuation from the first book and the hints at Persia and Hrutha's story yet to come. I enjoyed meeting Dawnthorne and Anissa and hope we will get a story for them too. The plot for this story is just excellent and the back and forth between the characters keeps the story extremely interesting. I volunteered to read this book, but I would recommended it regardless.

Loved Serephone and Amnan's story !! Mix of shifter, steampunk, witchcraft and dystopian all rolled into one hugely satisfying story . Throw in the Fae, Dragon's humans and partially mechanical beings and nothing is as it seems, but love helps them all survive to the end, for now. 4⭐'s !! I recommend this book to anyone 16 and over . I received a gifted copy and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.
