Watching over some crazy rich chick seems like a good stop gap from the army. She has no desire to do anything other than get wasted enough to forget.

Parker

Is she for real?

I cannot deal with her bullshit.

This woman has no idea what real life is, it is time for a reality check. Not all of us can have everything paid for. Some of us have to work.

I would much rather be back in the army. She’s impossible to deal with.

But not when she steps closer to me, right into my personal space. I can feel her breath tickling my cheek as she speaks.

My heart is thundering, my body shuddering and trembling, there is a stirring inside my underwear that I really need to ignore if I have any hope of getting through this with any intact dignity.

Hannah

I hate this guy. Why can’t he go? Why does my dad think I need a guard?

Hot blood boils around by body, my temper is burning from the top of my head to my little toes.

How dare my dad do this to me?

If I am going to win this, I would have to throw all images of his body right out of my brain. I will focus on his horrible personality instead.

This wouldn’t be too difficult, would it?

Guards don’t hook up with rich chicks.
But not Parker - he finds himself tumbling into an abyss.
Once he’s in, there might not be a way out again.

And my heart will go on and on…..Oops, wrong movie
I have nothing, if I don’t have you….Yep, this is the movie

Oh, I just love stories with bodyguards! I could have just loved this book, but I had a few issues with it.

I think my main problem was Parker, the main male character. He is supposed to be a fierce soldier on a Sabbatical. A strong-minded, badass bodyguard. But I honestly could not take him seriously when he is saying things like the following:

“Do you realize that I had to lie to your dad, just to stop me from getting fired?”
and
“Please tell me that those are the keys to the Corvette? I’ve been eyeing that car ever since I got here.”
and
“This is the short of vacation I’ve only seen on television before.”
and
“Okay,” I nodded along, deciding to surrender to the fun.

So, Parker supposedly has to look after Hannah.

Hannah I guess is another version of Paris Hilton. Really spoiled, daddy’s girl and party animal. But also very needy and sensitive inside and not that young any more. She is twenty-nine years old (I don’t remember reading about Parker’s age; but judging by how immaturely he acts, I have a feeling that he is younger than her).

Anyway, this is a cute story. Hannah and Parker will have a few fights and they will fall in love in less than a week. Then they will have a few more fights before they express their feelings. Not much bodyguard stuff is going on.

I had fun reading the story. Not too much thinking. It is easygoing, predictable and extremely sweet. Not very smutty, but romantic.

Hannah was hard to like but I think that was intentional. I started to like her towards the end because she seemed to finally grow up a bit and changed for the better. Parker was always a likable character, however, as hard and as tough as he was made out to be perceived, he really wasn't. I think what bothered me most was the fact that the cover claims this book to be "A HOT STEAMY ROMANCE", but that's not what I got. At least it didn't come across like that for me. It has a heavy contemporary feel with one good does of steam. Which floats the boat of many good people. I'm just not one of them.

While I liked the premise of this story, my heart just wasn't in it. If I'm being completely honest, I almost gave up on it. Luckily the story started to pick up at around the 40% mark and I began enjoying where the author was taking me. Unfortunately the story ended at the 64% so I only had roughly a good 20% to base this review on. Overall, a fine read. Would I try this author again? Yes. I liked her writing style and things can only get better from here.

Parker didn't know what he signed up for when he took the job to take care of Hannah. He is currently taking a sabbatical from the army and why the hell not take a side job of bodyguarding a rich, spoiled brat, that has daddy issues. It should be easy, thinking that he went to war and such, baby sitting would be easy. Or so he thought.

Hannah is having an issue with everybody taking her for granted, her mom died on a car accident then her dad just indulged himself on his work. Sure she has a boyfriend, that always make her come second that is. Struggling to cope with her issues she opted to drink excessive and party away like there is no tomorrow. Turns out that her boyfriend is another good for nothing trash.

Parker and Hannah's chemistry is undeniable but their social status is still in question. Will it work out? Will they overcome their fears? Will their love survive?

I am not gonna spell out how their story will turn out so grab a copy and find out.

Guarder is a stand alone novel that is cliffhanger-free and it does end with a HEA.

Twenty-nine year old Hannah Parker has been spinning out of control ever since her mother died a year and a half ago. She feels abandoned and alone, and drinking and partying with her wild friends is the only thing that makes her feel better. And then her father makes things worse when he hires her a bodyguard.

Taking the job as a bodyguard seemed like a good plan to Parker Jones when he needed some time off from the army. But nothing about protecting Hannah is easy, not her temper tantrums, her sneaking out of the house or her need to be wasted all the time. But what if there’s more to her, more than the party animal she shows to everyone?

I really liked the premise of the story, the grounded bodyguard protecting the rich woman. And I really liked Parker. He was such a good guy, almost sweet. And I liked how hard he tried to help Hannah, how understanding he tried to be when she was acting out.

Now Hannah was a complete emotional MESS. I totally felt her pain of losing her mother and her father shutting her out instead of being there for her, it was very sad. But I had a hard time understanding her actions when I compared it to her age. People deal differently with loss and pain, but Hannah was so OTT with her temper, and her neediness, that I just sadly couldn’t warm up to her.

When it comes to novellas it’s to be expected that everything will happen quickly, but because of the way Hannah acted I just couldn’t understand why Parker was attracted to her and therefor unfortunately the romance just didn’t work for me. I did really liked the sweet and romantic ending though.

A sometimes sweet novella, with a really great ending.

Guarded is my first book to author Kayla White. It's a sweet insta-love story of body guard Parker Jones and Hannah Ricks, the rebellious rich bomb he was supposed to look after and not fall for.

“She was hot, her body was incredible, and now despite my best intentions all I could think about was her pressing every inch of her gorgeousness up against me. Touching, licking, kissing...”

After losing her mom in a car accident, Hannah gave up on life, abandoned her goals and ambitions and lost herself to partying and getting drunk. When her dad was no longer able to control her, he assigned her a body guard.

And that's how the war began.

Parker Jones took a sabbatical year from the army to rest. When he got the job to look after a spoiled rich lady, he never imagined how much that job would cost him.
Because that lady was determined to drive him insane.

“This isn’t your job though, is it? You’re in the army, or something...”
“Oh God, I would much rather be back there than here. You’re going to be much harder to deal with than war.”

Hannah was a woman in pain, when her mom died in a car accident, instead of taking care of her, her father lost himself in his work leaving her to deal with the grief alone. Partying and getting high was her escape from pain especially with a boyfriend who didn't have much time for her. But as soon as the sweet caring body guard came to her life, she started seeing things from a different perspective.

description

Will love be able to get Hannah out of her grief and give her hope to finally fulfill her dreams? Is Parker the man she needs to know how beautiful life is?

Guarded is a book about the importance of love in our lives and how it can magically change paths and perspectives.

This is my first book by Kayla White and I must say that I enjoyed it very much. Guarded is a very well written romance story about an out of control spoiled rich girl and the hot, sexy ex-military turned bodyguard. With plenty of sparks, drama, twists, angst, loss, and grief, you are inexplicable drawn into the story.

I totally enjoyed this book, got some really good laughs and the chemistry between Hannah and Parker was undeniable . Parker was hired to watch after a spoiled rich girl , only problem was yes she was spoiled and rich but there was so much more to her. She was hurting and you could see it written all over her . Parker never thought his life would change all he knew was a life in the Army .. so finally seeing Hannah for the real person made a big difference in his life . I read this ARC for an honest review and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did

No rating for me out of respect for this aspiring author

I was graciously gifted an ARC of this book and as much as I feel honesty is the best policy I will try and review in a very respectful way. I gave her my personal opinions in private and she was so darned respectful and willing to take in all of my opinions and feelings, good, bad and indifferent, this girl is a real class act!

OK,
so on with my review and these are just my own personal reading onions/preferences:
1. The heroine was not a likable character for me in many ways sadly. Her underlying reasoning that we get from her further into the story still for me doesn't excuse her behavior in general. She really did not prove to me or have many redeemable characteristics....sorry, if an h is that unbearable for me in ANY story from ANY author, it can ruin the storyline for me and prevent me from truly investing myself and she was not to my personal liking.

2. The hero, Parker, loved him and felt he deserved way better. I also felt he was a bit too "soft and smitten" with Hannah and yet because to me she came off like a spoiled teenager, I didn't get what he saw in her.

4. The story was fast paced yes and sometimes that is ok and other times for me, it's not. I felt like I needed "a bit more" on these 2. Even the dad was all fine immediately. It was too insta for me.

5. All in all these are only my personal feelings and many others may feel totally opposite of me and that's ok because everyone has their own take and/or version of the played out storyline and characters . For me, it didn't quite work to my tastes but again, that's just me!

I have become picky and one thing about me is that I know what I like and what turns me on to a story and characters and what turns me off.

I congratulate this author and wish her so much luck and success and know that although she is starting out and fairly new, with time and feedback, I can see big things for her in the future!

Parker🐺🍌🌋 Goes Commando!

Be All You Can Be!

Does Parker,🐺🍌🌋👋💪 lately on sabbatical from the Army, have the guts, the perseverance, and the patience to put up with guarding a useless party girl💋👙 who can't stay out of trouble?

Wait! Let's blame Hannah's reckless behavior on her mother Dying, leaving her alone in the world to put up with her Alpha dominator dad, Joe.
Now Hannah's hanging with the wild crowd and her dad hires Parker🐺🔫🔪 to guard her and hopefully put a stop to the behavior. Hannah💋🔥 has a boyfriend, Carson, but he doesn't seem to be there for her much.
Parker, ripped💪 alpha sex god🐺🍌🌋👋 that he is, leaves Hannah speechless when he pulls off his tee 👕shirt and she gets a good look at his eight pack and and jacked biceps💪. YEHAW!
Parker 🐺🍌🌋👋💪is trying to keep his sense of humor around Hannah💋🔥👙, but when she sneaks out and is gone all 🌙night, he loses it, because he needs the job and she seems to be clueless about respecting anyone.
Hannah💋🔥👙 is doing all she can to get Parker🐺 fired or to get him to quit. She even prances around in a 🛁bath towel, to no avail. Parker🐺🍌🌋👋💪 is on to her games now and won't let her out of his sight.
I liked this book but it needed more depth, more encounters between Parker🐺🍌🌋🔥 and Hannah💋👙 before they come together. They needed more time to learn about each other, to give the reader more reason for them to make their connection in life.
Fairy Tales🐉 and Fantasies🐲 Do Come True! The book needs some more grittyness, stress, anxiety! The declarations of love came too soon, everything was too convenient, too easy.
Maybe this book is supposed to be one of those lunch time neat and tidy quick reads? I don't believe the author means for her book to come across that way.
The xxx scenes needed more graphic descriptions! Parker needed more graphic descriptions!. Give me a reason to care about his body! 🐺💪🍌🌋Parker 🐺needed to be more of a bad boy👹! Make him a little more over the top!
YEHAW! Ride em Bareback🍌, Cowgirl!🐎🐎🐎🐎

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first time I've read anything by Kayla White and the synopsis really drew me in.
Hannah is a rich, spoilt 29 year old who has gone off the rails following the death of her mom (the only person who ever cared about her). Her dad is consumed by his work and has no time to deal with her behaviour. So he hires a bodyguard to look after Hannah and to try and keep her from going off the rails even more.
Parker is on sabbatical from the army and has taken this job as a bodyguard during his time off. He expects it to be a straight forward assignment and doesn't realise what he's let himself in for.
They meet and instantly hate each other whilst secretly lusting after one another.
I won't ruin the end of the story but as it's promoted as having a guaranteed HEA (which it does) you can probably guess what happens.
I wanted to love this book but instead I ended up liking it but feeling a little frustrated by it as well.
The characters were hard to love as you don't really get to find out much about them. For example, why was Parker on sabbatical? What happened to give him the scar on his neck? These are things I really wanted to know, which is testament to how interesting the characters could have been!
One of the draw backs of a novella is that there isn't enough time to develop the characters and their back story. It also makes the story feel rushed.
Having said that I enjoyed the story and wanted to know more about the characters so I would definitely read more of Kayla's work in the future.

Guarded is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be my last. It's a quick read, but there's plenty of story packed into those pages. Hannah and Parker's story is such a sweet tale. The story has a touch of sadness with Hannah dealing with the loss of her mother, but for the most part, it's a fun read. The dialogue is witty and often funny and I was left with a smile when I turned the last page. I will be looking forward to whatever this author has in store for the future.

THREE GUARDED STARS!

I received this as an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review :D

Rich girl Hannah is wild; she parties too much, drinks too much and just doesn't care about much other than doing whatever she can to not feel so lonely. With her neglectful father drowning himself in work, her boyfriend just there in title? She tries to hold it together behind her carefree actions. But in truth, Hannah's lonely and misses her mom who to her was the only one who ever cared enough to be with her and actually listen.

I get where the author was coming from with this character. And during the first few pages I was eager to see how it'll all play out and how she'll change and become someone better, not just for herself but for the love interest as well, Parker.

Army Parker. Sigh. That sexy beast had me from the moment he was introduced. I always enjoyed the take-charge, simply alpha male complex. I was anxious to get into his dominating trait and see just how he handles Hannah. You know, tame the wild rich girl and make her weep with satisfaction.

With Parker hired to be Hannah's body guard, his only task is to stick to her like glue and make sure she doesn't do anything foolish. Easy enough right? But given the fact that Hannah has no desire to be babysat, she goes to length just to shake him up. From sneaking off to even flirting with him and rattling his sexual frustration to heights, she knew what to make Parker tick and enjoyed it.

I didn't expect this read to be so quick, so going in the one thing that turned me off was the insta-everything. I really don't like that. Everything in this book felt so rushed without the emotions to make me believe. Sometimes reading Parker's POV had me going over it to make sure it was him because at those times, his voice didn't sound like a male - and I got no male alpha vibe from him so that was sad. He's suppose to be a badass no-nonesense guy from the Army. I pictured him as a silent brood who would have the mystical power to make me puddle. Even at one point in the bar where I was shaking with anticipation for some angst - I got none - just a reply to Hannah that clearly indicated strongly he's only into her. I wanted some doubt to build the sexual tension between them.

I didn't even feel the chemistry between them.

The issues that Hannah was experience, for me I didn't feel the sincerity with her father or even herself as she grew towards someone new with Parker by her side. Her confrontation with her boyfriend....sigh that angst/drama whore in me wanted more lol....

Due to it being a quick read, I won't say it's unreadable or anything negatively like that. Because it isn't. It's a quick read that sadly didn't leave me feeling anything. I just took it for what it was and was happy that they got their happy ending.

Guarded was a thrilling and a well written love story and Kayla White is a new author to me.

Hannah was a rich girl who needed protecting. Or so her father believes. She had gone a bit wild and he hires Parker to keep her in line and safe. Parker sure had his hands full keeping tabs on her. Hannah loves nothing more that leading him on a merry chase. She is lost and needs someone to just think of her and put her first, for once. On the outside, it seems she has it all and should not have any problems. But it is a cry for some attention. Even if is negative, at least it is something.

Parker falls head over heels, instantly. He loves her sass and wants her, baggage and all. He loves her spirit and her fire and will put up with just about anything to be near her. But she just keeps pushing him away. Can they work through all the obstacles in front of them?

Guarded had all the elements that go into a great love story. It kept me captivated and I could not put it down. It even has a happy ending. I recommend Guarded to anyone who loves a well written, edgy romance. 4 stars for this Guarded and Kayla White

This was my first book by Kayla White and she has a knack for delving into emotions with such clarity and feeling, that you can't help but become entrenched in the story. I loved the premise of the story...Broken Rich Girl and the Tired Military Man...both have serious baggage, but when they come together, they can' t help but feel whole!

Amazing character development, as you really get a glimpse into both Parker and Hannah emotionally with the dual POV, which isn't always easy to convey, but Kayla rocked it out! Great writing and the scenes were well written that you could feel the sexual tension coming off the page. Although, the sexual scenes weren't too racy, they still added to Parker and Hannah's story as they've been fighting their attraction ...hard...so to see them come together was both exciting and heart-warming! I did want more details though...like how their attraction built up so quickly, what sort of discussions and interactions they had between them that lent to their chemistry and attraction.

A definite must read for those who enjoy a sweet and sexy tale about how opposites attract and what can happen when you let go and just follow your heart.

This was a very quick, light, sexy and enjoyable read! Hannah has had a rough time since losing her mom in a car accident. Her father has become distant since her mom's death and her boyfriend is a class-a jack***. The only way she felt she could ease the pain was with drinking and partying.
Parker is on a sabbatical from the army and is hired by Hannah's dad to pretty much be her glorified babysitter. At first he thinks she is a typical, spoiled Daddy's girl but the more time he spends around her the more he sees beneath her pain to the sweet person she really is.
The chemistry is hot between these two and they are both realizing that they are really falling for the other. Will Parker be able to get Hannah to see her boyfriend for the scum he is and will Hannah be able to straighten herself out and see that Parker is the perfect one for her? You will have to read it to find out and you will not be disappointed! I voluntarily read an arc copy for an honest review!

This is the first book I've read by this author and I thought it was good. Hannah has felt lonely ever since her mother died. Searching for someone to love her and pay attention to her has caused Hannah to make some bad decisions. Her dad hires Parker, an army soldier, to guard her. Despite a dislike for the situation they both are attracted to and start to develop feelings for each other. I liked the two of them together and thought they were just the one the other needed. The only thing I wish is that we would have gotten to see (read) more of their getting to know each other. The way it read seemed like their feelings developed instantly, when in reality, it was over some time. Overall, I enjoyed the story and will read more by this author.

I read an ARC copy of this book for my honest review.

Hannah recently lost her mother and with that her drive and ambition. She found all of the wrong people to hang out with in order to get her dad's attention. She finally got it, but only since he hired Parker to be her guardian. Hannah instantly hates him and is interested in him at the same time. Parker is also instantly drawn to her as well. But he feels they can't be together due to their differences. Can Hannah and Parker get over their issues and concentrate on them?

This is my first Kayla White book and I liked it. It was sweet and romantic.

Additional book at the end: Tempted - was hot and steamy!!! Would love to read more of Logan and Reeva.

Parker and Hannah meet when he is hired to be her bodyguard. Hannah is 29-years-old and having a hard time with the death of her mother. She is drinking, using drugs and acting like an adolescent when Parker is hired. Parker is on a sabbatical from the army and takes the job from her father. Hannah and Parker feel an attraction but she has a boyfriend, Carson, who treats her like an afterthought. Hannah is not made a priority by anyone in her life and she acts out. Parker sees this behavior and tries to befriend her. Hannah and Parker have a confrontation and she lashes out at him when he points out information that she doesn't want to hear. Hannah then realizes her mistake and tries to apologize but it gets lost in the anger that Parker has. Both of them have insta-love and try to diminish their feelings. When Hannah goes after Parker to let him know her feelings, Parker is torn between his head and his heart. The book was a short easy read, and requires the reader to believe in insta-love. I had a hard time liking Hannah and was still unsure about her growth at the end of the book. I needed to see more of her progression into adulthood and felt that I was disconnected from she and Parker at the end. This is a good book for someone looking for a quick, easy, insta-love book and no issues with a h who acts like an adolescent for most of the book. I received this book as an arc for a honest review and I can say that this book was a sweet romance. Hannah is a bratty rich kid that has a few hard breaks ,and one thing she doesn't want is a guardian watching what she does. Parker is not looking forward to looking after a bratty rich girl that is until he finds out there is more to her then meets the eye. This book has a lot of caring qualities and is worth a look at . This is the first book I have read by this Kayla White and I liked it a lot. It was quite a breezy summer read.
A rich spoiled woman who is desperately seeking attention. Her Father is the one person she expects to give her attention but he doesn't seem to have the time for her. Parker is hired to be her guardian. He falls in love with her, and they have their happily ever after.
The story line between Parker and Hannah was well written. The writing was super easy to go through. I finished reading it in a single sitting.

Guarded definitely is a story of opposites attracting. Hannah comes from a privileged life. She wants for nothing that money can't buy. The problem is that what she was is for someone to see her for who she truly is and want her in return.

Parker has struggled for everything in his life. The child of a single mom he has made his way in the world as a solider. Now on a year sabbatical he finds himself guarding a spoiled rich girl. He cannot see how he can make it through this job with his sanity. But as he starts looking deeper into who Hannah is he becomes more and more enthralled with her. It is obvious that nothing can ever happen between them because the are so different.

When he finds himself defending her honor to her cheating boyfriend, he realizes that he has fallen for the girl he has sworn to protect. And when she lashes out at him for being the bearer of bad new she realizes that she may have lost her one chance to be with Parker. Now she must find a way to convince him that she will do anything to win a chance at his heart again.

Great story. Loved the back and forth between the two main characters.

Parker has been hired to watch over Hannah. A spoiled rich girl who likes to party. She is needy and quite sensitive. She feels abandoned and alone. Her boyfriend makes her feel like he places everything ahead of her. He's a piece of crap!!!
Then she meets Parker.....
The chemistry between Parker and Hannah is hot!!!
Hannah and Parker are adorable!!! Great love story!!!

3 Body Guard Stars

Hannah & Parker... my, my, my. What a delicious pair.

A fantastic bodyguard romance with a cute short story & a sugar sweet ending.

I would have like some deeper character development perhaps a glimpse into the H's past.

Soundtrack: Guarded

Lovin You - Trey Songz
Die a Happy Man - Nelly
Talking Body - Tove Lo
All About You - Hilary Duff
Lovin' So Hard - Becky G

Need to get me a bodyguard pronto. #swoon

Hannah is out of control, so instead of her father actually speaking to her, he hires Parker to be her "guardian" She's out partying all the time and wrecking things but no one sees the hurt she is going through, until Parker. At first he just thinks she is some spoiled little rich girl, until he sees past it all.
Parker is taking a break from the Army and his side job is to look after Hannah. But they both take an instant dislike to each other. And Hannah hates being treated like a child (even though she behaves like one - even at 29) and vows to do everything she can to get rid of him.
Parker can see that no one has time for her but doesn't say anything because he doesn't want to over step his boundaries.
Things start changing between the pair and they are hiding their true feelings from each other.
Hannah has a boyfriend, Carson, who is just a douche in my opinion. She slowly starts to see a different side of him too.
I liked this story. It was fun to read. They both had their own problems but I think Hannah's was more forefront in the book though.
Parker was such a sweet guy, not overly Alpha, but you just hot to love him anyway.
Hannah is a sweet person once you get past all the barriers she put up after her mother's death. And Parker is the only one to see it!
I loved that the last few chapters were of their life together and not just shared during an epilogue. I was so happy that she finally figured her life out and found the right man to love and for him to shower her with all of his love.
All in all, a pretty great book! Well done.
