I'm not a big paranormal/shifter lover, but this shorty was a pleasant surprise! Even if you aren't a fan of shifters and outer space, I urge you to give this one a try.

Lauryn and Xavier were childhood friends, and while Xavier has always had a crush on Lauryn, she wasn't feeling him that way-at all. Fast forward some years later, and Lauryn is a successful businesswoman who's constantly grinding and making moves. Love and relationships are the last thing on her mind, that is, until Xavier re-enters the picture. He's no longer the skinny, nerdy boy next door, but a grown-ass, strapping man with a big secret.

Although this is a short story, it's very engaging and well-written. I of course wanted more, but it's the perfect quickie for when you're short on time. Click it up!

The Boy Who Came Back A Wolf is a serial series. That may turn some readers off and I must admit, as soon as I was getting settled into the story it ended, was a bit disconcerting as I wasn't prepared for it.

The story was about two childhood friends that went their separate ways after high school and reunited 10 years later different people. Xavier loved Lauryn all this time and when he reunited with her, he vowed to never let her go. Lauryn was a real estate developer in a new world called New Tokyo which was in another galaxy. They reunited with one another and the story ended.

I did want to read more of the story so I believe it is a good beginning for the story.

This story was given to me in return for an honest exchange.

A story of love lost and love found again with a very steamy reunion. This novella leaves off with an open ending hinting at the next novel, which is on my tbr. There wasn't much world-building here, so I'm hoping for more in the next book!

As a person who loves sci-fi and has a healthy appreciation of paranormal romance, I wish that I could say that I got more enjoyment from reading The Boy Who Came Back a Wolf. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. For me it was a case of lost potential. I'm just going to jump right in and share my thoughts with you.

What I Didn't Like So Much
The problem for me is this - The Boy Who Came Back a Wolf could have told a great story with characters reuniting and discovering the changes caused by time, circumstances, and their own personal choice. Unfortunately, it was too short and what could have been an interesting read deviated into a whole lot of sex that I couldn't get into. I don't have a problem with hot sex in a book, but it needs to be believable and it has to be supported by a storyline that captivates me. The path that this book took just didn't do it for me and I lost interest. I will say, however, that my interest picked up again at the end of the book. But, when it seemed like it would get out of the bedroom and back to the promising story that I was looking forward to, it came to an end. To be continued. A stay tuned sort of thing. Very disappointing.
- I also wanted a little more about Xander. This would have taken a longer book, but this guy has an amazing story that deserves time and detail.

My Final Thoughts
The next book in what seems to be a series sounds interesting, but I'm not holding out much hope that it won't have the same problems that this book suffers from. Will I read it? Likely, but it isn't high on my list even though it will probably be another quick read. As for The Boy Who Came Back a Wolf, I'm giving it 2 out of 5 stars. This isn't a terrible book by far, but it has all the makings to be so much better. I would love to read an extended, fuller version.

*I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review*

I’m giving this story 3.5 stars.

This is a solid read—quick, entertaining and pretty hot. Almost exactly what most readers want out of a shorter erotic story.

It took a minute to get into, but once I was hooked I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Shorter stories have a downfall, however—the characters don’t have time to gain substance. I would like to read a longer version of this, to see Lauryn’s descent into the immoral world of business rather than be told she's a ruthless businesswoman, to see Xavier’s life in the military and understand the choices he made. I'd love to see how they transition from the past to the future, how they would mesh their experiences into a relationship. Theirs is a rekindling of a childhood connection, but as adults they’re coming from two different places and that could have been explored more. The author did a good job at explaining why they moved so quickly after they were reunited, but I would have liked more depth to go along with that.

I want more, but I’m greedy and I liked this story. I will keep my eye out for more from this author.

When I first saw this title, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but when I finally had the chance to read it, you see a certain amount of complexity in the primary characters that is usually not seen in a short story. It’s the kind of complexity that makes you want to sit and talk to them, find out their who history, back story, and motivations. I found myself wishing this were longer so that I could delve into those questions. The story gives you some of that but not much. It is part of what makes you want to read more as you go along. It’s tantalizing but not in the irritating cliffhanger kind of way. Even though the end kind of leaves you hanging, it doesn’t do it right in the middle of a scene. I gotta say, though, Xavier has my vote! Can’t wait for Book 2!

Reviewed For Readers Favorite

All through school Xavier and Lauryn had been best friends, he had been their for her when her sister was almost kidnapped, and yet when he tried to kiss her and make it something more, she pushed him away. She was afraid he would hold her back from becoming what she wanted, someone with enough money and power to always take care of her family. So Xavier headed off for ten years in the military, which left him extremely muscled and a werewolf. Now he's back and he wants Lauryn. The Boy Who Came Back A Wolf, is a short little novella that srta introduces Lauryn and Xavier into the Space Shifter Chronicles Series. Author Lockharte has written a sizzle novel encompassing the dreams and fantasies of most mid-twenties-ish women.

The Boy Who Came Back a Wolf is part of the Space Shifter Chronicles Series, and since I am not sure exactly were at this one is suppose to be read, so it may introduce Xavier and Lauryn or it may fill in some background about them. Either way, it is a very short, maybe five chapter book that although was fun to read on its own, was definitely meant to fill in some information between two regular novels. This novella mentions Lauryn's sister Skye and her father, a space pirate. There is also mention of Xavier's mothers. Author Lockharte has taken a very short novella and given readers a look into a series that teases readers and gets them wanting to read more and find out about the series.

My Review.......

Lauryn hadn’t seen Xavier in years, not since he pulled out on a military transport to Alzar-4 after graduation.
They had been the best of friends, inseparable, until he kissed her!!
And now after years of not seeing him, Xavier is back in touch.
What’s a girl to do? Can she forgive him? And why is he in touch now?

Xavier has always loved Lauryn. And now he’s back to claim her. He makes it pretty clear he wants her. And when they meet up he only wants to talk and let his intentions be known. But his animal side wants more. So he takes her, and there is no mistake that she’s now his.

A short but intense story.
Lauryn never wanted to mess up their friendship, but she could see that loving Xavier wouldn’t get her where she wanted to be, and they was rich and powerful, she never wanted to be hungry or weak again, as a child she had plenty of that. But meeting up with Xavier made her realise that she could have gotten what she wanted, and he would still have loved her.

It could have been made into a longer story, it had plenty of content. And in parts it felt a little rushed. But it was a fun read for a Sunday afternoon.

I have to admit I haven't had much experience reading sci-fi shifter romances, but this one caught my eye with the cover. Yes, I'm one of those people who tends to judge a book by its cover first. I like pretty things. What can I say?

The Boy Who Came Back a Wolf was an enjoyable read, but it was tooooo short. The couple ended up together in the end and everything, but getting there was too fast. It would have been better if their story had been split into several stories of this size or if this story had been expanded.

There was a lot of interesting world-building glossed over in the beginning of the story, but we only get a taste of it. Unfortunately, the same is true for the characters. This story was, in essence, a sample of what Kara Lockharte has to offer in her other books. That taste was good, so this story served its purpose there, but it also makes me wonder what the next book will be like.

Luckily, Wanted By The Werewolf Prince is a full-sized book, so I expect to be completely satisfied with that one. I'll just have to read and find out.

Kara Lockharte is a new author to me so I had no idea about the writing style or what to expect. I was given the opportunity to read this from Bookfunnel and wanted to give my honest review. Although this prequel in the "Space Shifters Chronicles" is a quick, easy, read there's a lost opportunity to fill in the gaps and give those added details in Lauryn and Xavier's story. Two childhood friends who parted on less than ideal terms are reacquainted after ten years. There's instant chemistry when they catch up with each other. Partly because they had that past history to draw from and partly from growing up and developing in ways that brought them to adulthood. The chemistry between Lauryn and Xavier was HOT while in the scene but it was a bit disjointed otherwise. I would've like to had more depth and details but I'm willing to see where the rest of the series goes. Because I enjoyed the storyline I'm giving it a four-star rating.

I think this book is a good start to the series. It's a short story/novella. It was well written and has left me wanting to read the next book.
Lauryn and Xavier were childhood best friends and he made a pass at her when they were younger but she didn't want to stay in their hometown so she rejected him, she had plans to get her family safe and away from where they grew up. Xavier went on to be a solider. Lauryn builds up her business and fears she has become what she hated in her father, but her family are safe. When Xavier makes contact again after years apart, it brings up feelings she'd tried to ignore. Xavier is no longer the boy she left behind, he's now a werewolf and there is an instant attraction.

The Boy Who Came Back A Wolf is a great little short story written by Kara Lockharte. I got this one after I read her other book "Wanted by the Werewolf Prince" and enjoyed it so much, I had to read this one. This short story is packed with lots of steam, steam and more steam, giving you a glimpse into the rediscovery of Lauryn and Xavier's relationship that has taken on a new form, showing you a different aspect of this series. This book will give you a quick fix until the next one will come out. It is entertaining but does not have a lot of depth and just focuses on the explosive relationship that these two have, but in my eyes makes for a fun short read nonetheless!

In this Space Shifter Chronicles prequel, real estate entrepreneur Lauryn Daring hasn’t heard from her childhood best friend, Xaxier Stone, in ten years. Now, he’s leaving the military and needs a place to stay, so she offers to help him out. She’s always regretted pushing him away and denying her romantic feelings for him, and now she wants to make things right.
Lauryn and Xavier were interesting characters, but this story is a pretty short. The sex scenes were super hot but happened long before the characters even get to know one another again. There were a few editing issues, but I liked the story and the sci/fi world building.

I received The Boy Who Came Back a Wolf as a review copy from the author/publisher (via InstaFreebie). The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. This novella, less than 50 pages long, was a good story about two friends reunited with the added bonus of mutual attraction. I was interested in the werewolf angle, and was happy to see there were other novellas based on the same worldbuilding. A good read, but awfully focused on the sex, rather than character background.

Star crossed lovers

When you are the only curvy black daughter of a space pirate in school you need to be careful with your boyfriend. You become one of the richest real estate holders on the planet and now your boyfriend is coming home. He wants to see you. Nicely done paranormal romance. Adult readers due sexual content.

Oh, I loved this book! Loved the characters. I want to read more! Loved the idea of other worlds with shifters trying to survive. Having a military in outer space, loved it! Xavier and Lauryn's love lasting so long was so touching and sweet and of course sexy. I so want to read more by this author.

It's not yet 2018, and I've got a new author to add to my stalker list :).
Looks like 2018 will be another sci-fi year for me.

I've already read books 1 & 2 and eagerly await book 3.
However, this was a lovely short where we learn a bit more about Skye's sister Lauryn and Xavier.

It's a bit too short to give any spoilers, but it does fill in some blanks.

Extremely rushed with poorly defined characters (i.e., a black woman with big hair and a man with a large chest reunite). As this is a prequel to the series, I can only hope the writing and definition will improve. The synopsis reads better than the story. Not a good intro to the series.

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2 stars.

What a hot beginning for this series. Two childhood friends who love, lost and find again. The instant attraction and steamy scenes definitely wake up the senses. Can't wait for more.

A decade of wanting

Separated by planets, these two haven't seen or heard from one another in over 10 years. They've both changed, he into a werewolf and she into a successful business tycoon. Fate has plans for these two and happily they agree.

I really enjoyed reading this story. For an author whose works I don’t think I’ve read before, this was a very good introduction. This was a new type of story for me, but it had me glued to the pages. Lots of fun!!
