"Enthralling, one-of-a-kind, push-and-pull romance story with a solid, engaging plot, memorable, three-dimensional characters with strong personalities, and delicious, blazing sensuality. Sophisticated, seductive, beautifully written. A great contemporary romance story!" - NY Literary Magazine

A Standalone Romance.

When one is denied of something for so long...sometimes the best way to acquire it is through drastic measures...

An heiress and a man set to take over her father's company.
Arranged marriage with two stubborn and equally vindictive characters.
Stifling sexual tension. A push-and-pull maddening, combustible chemistry.
A war of words-of love-thrusting them to the brink of insanity.

Like oil mixing with water, one cannot drown the other. In the end, no one ever wins.

There's a delicate line between obsession and desperation. And Gisele has been lodged in that sweet purgatory for as long as she can remember.

Tech billionaire Jared St. James is a renowned whiz in his field. By the age of nineteen, he's been reveled all over the world and already working at one of Silicon Valley's top companies, working and thriving under the guidance of his mentor, Peter Weber--Gisele's father. Jared works incessant hours and doesn't have the time to be in a relationship. The relationships he's had, well, they lingered on, the women hoping he'd commit to them. But eventually, he moved on to his next trophy girlfriend. Gisele Weber fits the bill, but Jared scarcely pays any attention to her.

While girls her age lost their virginity before they reached eighteen, Gisele wholeheartedly reserved hers, plotting the perfect moment to give it away to Jared St. James. So, she waited until she was of legal age, hoping that he'd see her in a different light, not as the besotted little girl who used to follow him around. She is insanely beautiful, witty, and vivaciously full of life, and the only thing she wishes for is one night in his arms.

But the moment she secures his attention, it is all for the wrong reasons. Gisele finds herself in a revolving wheel of madness, chasing for a man who doesn't want to be caught.

They do say be careful for what you wish for...

Littered with errors (from the very first page); filled with character and plot contrivances that will have you sighing n eye-rolling, The Guardian is almost too ridiculous for words.

My advice:Avoid losing 3 hours of your life with no commensurate benefit, or at the least order the book sample first.

Well.. if you're into unrequited love, marriage of convenience, strong stupidish heroine, kinda unlikeable Hero, alot of misunderstanding, some stupid gut wretching scenes, other woman drama, super hot sex shenanigans and kinda cheating (not really sure if its really cheating since they were both clear to each other what is and what not.) Anyways, if you like everything I mentioned above, then this book is definitely for you.. if not, then don't bother reading this book.

As for me, well- I devoured this! It's messed up and kinda stupid around 90ish% in the story but other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the unrequited love and marriage of convenience story!

Its angsty and frustrating, both H/h were not perfect and made few decisions that made me see red but I guess that's why I couldn't put this damn book down! The heroine has a strong personality and wasn't too doormatish and the hero is unlikeable but loveable at the same time. Doesn't make sense? Well you just have to read the book.

Anyways, for all masochist readers- I highly recommend this one!

2.5 soapy-trash stars
I read this last week, and never got around to writing a review. The book is TOTAL soapy trash full of several tropes… marriage of convenience, OW/OM shenanigans, stupid choices, ASSumptions, misunderstandings, dead wife and child… You really need to have a hankering for mindless, OTT, silly, unrealistic drama-llama. For perspective, IMO, it’s even soapier than a Dynasty-ish storyline. I’d put it up there with telenovela ridonkulous, so if you’re not a fan of Carita de Angel or my all-time fav Rosalinda… I’d pass.

The h (18ish) Gisele Weber has been in love with the H (27) Jared St. James FOREVER. She’s CRAZY about the dude, like wear a disguise so she can lose her virginity to him level of crazy. Early on, we find out her dad’s dying, so she must enter a MOC with Jared for some illogical reason… company shares, guardianships, giving a hypothetical baby a father, etc. The marriage will be in name only and kept a secret to most of the world. Only family members and staff know the truth; everyone else thinks he's just her guardian. Jared being a super hung and virile man has a mistress Rose. She’s not around on-page a ton, but pretty batshit, so she’s entertaining. Although the best parts (convo’s with Gisele) all happen off-page… total bummer.

Told in dual POV’s this is a bumpy road through misunderstanding and assumptions. Simply put, it’s a hot mess. There’s loads of sexy-time including on-page with Rose, and a couple OM situations. I liked that Gisele didn’t sit around pining for Jared, but her stupid choices and immaturity pushed my patience. The writing isn’t great, and she overuses dramatically. (dramatically parked, dramatically unzipped, etc.)

Bottom Line- This is silly. The H is a CEO who moonlights as a hacker called the Phantom, and works out by sparing with katanas. He’s such a stud that he can have sex for HOURS, even after screwing Rose 5X’s before starting with G. He starts out as a total ass, but thaws as time goes on. The h is very immature; she’s SUPER emotional and borderline unstable. (I Hate you/I LOVE you)… but aggressive to go after what she wants…only to make stupid decisions and ruin everything. I didn’t find either likeable, but entertaining. It’s quite long for a soapy read, (400 pgs) so I skimmed a bit of the repetitive parts. (together + misunderstanding = break-up, repeat) Not safe…at all.

THIS IS A 3.5 STAR READ

“Unrequited love. It was the most damning kind of emotion.”

This quote simply summarize the first half of the novel. My heart bled for Gisele, she is only 18 year’s old. She just graduated college so to sow her wild oats she decided she will be losing her virginity to her one true love who always holds her at arms length, the man of the hour Jared. Who is 9 years older than her and the long lost “son” to Gisele’s father. Jared was hard for me to like. He was trying to form a friendship with Gisele while always keeping her at arms length while fucking someone else at the side. Gisele knew of the “affair” –IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT—at the beginning of the marriage.
Just cause Jared wants to be an asshole and think about his dick doesn’t mean that Gisele is going to sit at home on their wedding night crying. She was a bad ass bitch hence the following from the novel.

“If I didn’t put myself into perspective, who would?”
Damn right Gisele, you do you boo, fuck Jared for showing her what she truly wants and can’t have. There was some push and pull on his part because he couldn’t make his mind up.
“Well good for him, but I was done proving how effective his sexual prowess was.”

She also gave as good as she got, she never let Jared walked over her like she was chopped liver.
“If believing that helps you, then go ahead. They did say some men were plain idiots. You can add yourself to that tally, Jared. I heard the registration’s free in the ‘dumb as fuck’ record.”
OH YES GISELE STAND UP FOR YOURSELF, KNOW YOUR WORTH.

I wish there was groveling on the Hero’s part, although he did step up. I wished he fought more.
“I’m ready to be the man you deserve to have”
Gee sure did took you long enough asshole! I still totally recommend this book if you are in the mood for unrequited love and asshole hero’s who are oblivious to what they need is right in front of them.

The purpose of this review is for me to rant basically. WHICH IS WHY BEWARE OF SPOILERS.

Okay, this was an interesting read in the sense that it evoked many different emotions in me. I liked this writer's writing style. It was the first book I have read by her. I am going to check out more of her books to see what else she has under her sleeve. The real problem I had though was with the content.

First of all, Gisele was 18 and MARRIED. TO A 27 YEAR OLD MAN. NOPE. THAT'S NOT OKAY. While age differences don't normally bother me in books, young marriages certainly do. Even if Gisele didn't think of the marriage as a trap (most of the time: I realise she was overwhelmed at the wedding, at the thought of Jared controlling her life and having no choice in an open marriage and that she eventually wanted a divorce, which was short lived, but whatever. Most of the time she was after her hubby which is okay but not because again SHE IS 18 AND MARRIED). She should be living her life, not be stuck in an arranged marriage before it's even legal for her to drink, regardless of the circumstances that led to her arranged marriage (Her dad was dying of prostate cancer and wished to see her 'settled' and 'protected').

Second of all, the cheating. I am the type of person that despises cheating. The worst thing a spouse/partner can do is cheat in my book. Yes, cheating even trumps murder. It's immature, selfish and completely a deal breaker for me (in books, lol. My love life is non existent). I was disgusted by Jared 's relationship with Rose and his back and forth between Gisele and Rose and Paige. I thought it was completely hypocritical of him to question Gisele 's relationships with Wyatt and Jack. I liked that Gisele went out with other guys and didn't wait for Jared to get his shit together. What I didn't like was how she led Wyatt on and kept lying to him about whether he would 'get' with her. Even if Wyatt was kind of sleazy, he seemed like a nice guy.

Thirdly, the hang ups Jared had with his guilt and vows to his dead wife. Look, I'm not saying that people who have lost partners and spouses shouldn't be allowed second chances at love. Of course they should. Nobody should live their lives consumed in their losses. I completely empathise with someone who has lost a loved one. However (and this is just how I, personally, feel), I wouldn't want to be someone's second chance like Gisele was to Jared. I wouldn't want to be second, period. I don't know. Maybe, it's just my personal hang ups but if I were to fall in love, I would want that person to be my one and only and vice versa. I would want the 'love of my life' (as Jared put it) thing to go both ways as I believe that love, big, electrifying, explosive love, comes only once. (A naive, clichéd and maybe even unrealistic concept, I know. Spare me the eye roll. It's just how I feel.) I realise other people might feel differently (Like, duh. Otherwise there would be no such thing as second/third/fourth marriages) but throughout the book, I just kept thinking how it wasn't fair to Gisele that she was second in Jared 's eyes and would always be second. Nothing would change the fact that had Paige not died, she wouldn't even be on Jared 's radar. And that doesn't really sit well with me because we're being told this love story about second chances but somebody had to die for this love to even be a possibility. They weren't truly meant to be. I guess that's what makes this book more realistic.

Hence, why I haven't given this book less than three stars despite all that is listed above. God, look at that rant. I finished this book around 4:00 AM and I was feeling all kinds of emotions in my sleep deprived state. If you feel you can handle all that is listed above, go for it. It has a happy ending (though I would have wanted an epilogue that showed their lives years later). Maybe you'll agree with me. Maybe you'll find a new favourite book. I don't know. I'm not the boss of you.

Okay. The end.

This book contains cheating with some extenuating circumstances that some would find hard to swallow. There is the guardian of the story Jared who is basically in a 3 way relationship. The first is with the memory of his dead wife, the second is with the mistress who uncannily resembles the dead wife, with Giselle the now current wife as the third in a marriage of convenience. The heroine is aware of Rose the other woman from day one as the hero is open and transparent about everything except about what is in his heart.

He uses the first and second women as barriers to loving and losing again while he obsesses over his young wife. The story is fast paced as the hero f*#ks his mistress into an asylum on his journey to monogamy with his new wife.So if you feel you can stomach all of the above than you are guaranteed to enjoy every dirty word coming out of "The Guardian's" mouth.

This turned out to be quite disappointing. The h is a spineless idiot. I really can't stand weak heroines who turns into mindless sex addicts in front of the hero. damn i have so many bad things to say about the heroine and the hero too, but I won't. I'm just going to delete this book from my library never to be seen again.

The story started out with a good pace and what I thought would be an interesting and fun storyline, then it went off the rails. There is cheating in this tale and I know that some find it offensive. While I don't agree with cheating - ever - I can read about it and it has nothing to do with my rating on this one. What did affect my rating was the agonizingly slow pace and the constant back and forth and miscommunication between Jared and Gisele. It became tedious and after awhile it was no surprise when they were on the outs once again. The book is quite long and eventually, I just didn't care if this couple worked it out or not. There were also several extraneous circumstances - I say extraneous because they were just dropped without resolution or explanation. I did finish the book, mainly because I can't start a book and not finish, but this one was way too easy to set aside and finishing began to feel like a chore about halfway through.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Jared is set to take over Gisele's fathers company. Peter Weber has always been Jared's mentor and he works hard for him. Long hours and he certainly doesn't have time for a relationship. The relationships he has had have lingered on with the woman hoping he would commit to them. However he eventually moved on to his next trophy girlfriend. Gisele Weber fits the bill but Jared scarcely pays any attention to her. That hasn't stopped Gisele from saving her virginity to give away to Jared St. James. All she wants is one night in Jared's arms. The moment she secures his attention it is for all the wrong reasons. Gisele finds herself in a revolving door of madness, chasing a man who doesn't want to be caught. They do always say to be careful for what you wish for.

I loved every single second of this book. This is not a book that will be easily forgotten. I equally loved both the characters off Jared and Gisele. They sure do give each other a run for their money. No doubt they have amazing sexual chemistry but does that mean they are good for each other? You just have to read and find out. This book kept my attention from the moment I began to the second I put it down. It is a ride with your passenger as angst. It's a roller coaster for sure that will have you at your witt's end but loving every second of it. I don't want to give anything away. I think this is one of those books you just have to experience for yourself.

I always love anything that Pamela Ann has ever written and The Guardian is not an exception. You do not want to miss this book.

THIS BOOK......

I just finished it, and it's going to be with me for a long, long time. I never ever read books like this unless I'm forewarned, but I got sucked into it on KU, then I got sucked into this crazy, toxic, relationship. This book is better than all my soaps have been in years. I am going to preface this by saying . Be brave, it's gonna be ok.

The best thing is both of the lead characters. Gisele is full of unrequited love for a very broody and standoffish Jared. He's 27. He thinks he's too old for her. I was once a very mature 18yr old so I fell fast into her fanciful fantasy of him. I liked them both immediately. It was hard at first to figure out why she wanted him so badly unless you're like me and love a broody, Alpha, Silent guy, lol. Which I do so check. She handles things like all us women do, sometimes we're impressed & well sometimes you want to shake her, lol.

Something happens very fast, and well let's say it's unrequited for a reason for our dear Giselle, but she picks herself up nicely, just get yourself over the fictional hurdle of that first chapter, the story progresses, then we get to the meat of it, when they really do have to spend real time together. Jared and Giseles father work together & their thrown together for business reasons. It's agreed upon. There's a mature discussion about the relationship. It went about said way discussed. Until it didn't.

Halfway in it's a train wreck, but you can't look away. Pretty much the whole book, I was flipping pages, pulling my hair out, as mistakes are made, a failure to communicate is thrust at us & yet, I couldn't stop reading it! Ever read a book you loved and hated at the same time? Yes, well, yes I have now. LOL. In between it all is hot, hot chemistry.

This truly is a toxic push pull type of relationship & yet you can't stop pulling for them, just when you think your loyalties are leaning one way? You're flipped! Just when you think it's getting healthy? It's destroyed! They become evenly matched towards the end where it all culminates and I was exhausted but what a ride!

What a random surprise pick. Great writing. Great supporting cast. Recommend.

A roller coaster of a book. Ending was great and so were the characters. However there were some side characters that I was left with questions about. Has the potential for possible spin offs with those characters. Overall 3 stars.

Pure pleasure and crazy love that is Jared and Gisele, more emphasis on the crazy.

Gisele has been in love with Jared for as long she can remember. He is the man of all man in her eyes and no one will ever come close to him. In her young mind the only way to get him is to seduce the man. She has learned all his cues and then some. Knowing what will spark the flames, she give him her virginity and leaves him hanging on the steps waiting.

Her father is dying and his last wish is that Jared marry and take care of his daughter. Fake relationship never last long but in some cases, it opens the eyes of those involved. Marriage of convenience, Jared is allowed to have his side piece and life his life like normal.

Things happen and one thing lends to another. Confession of love and misunderstanding is the biggest problems of them all. Watching your heart walk out the door is hard but to see him doing not twice but a third time, well, you’re dumb to try and get him back.

This crazy book had my heart racing and headache in tow. It’s crazy and beautiful all at the same time.

The Guardian by Pamela Ann is a fantastic book. Pamela Ann has this writing style that's all her own. You know there will be twist and turns that you won't see coming. Relationships that are love and hate relationships. She has this way of pulling at your heart and making you feel the emotions of the characters. Pamela Ann gives you the super hot, sexy moments, and then the next thing you know the ugly, hurtful parts of the relationship come about. This is what I enjoy in a book. The way the emotions take over the story.
In Guardian you feel the love/hate relationship between Gisele and Jared. Their journey is not always pleasant. Obstacles try and some succeed in coming in between these two.
Can they manage to overcome these obstacles to get what they want? You will have to read The Guardian to find out.
I enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down. Great job Pamela Ann!!

Someday, I’d get over him, and I would laugh for being such a stupid fool.

I love Pamela's books but they always tend to circle back to the same darn issue! The angst is okay, the writing is okay, the storyline is whoaaaaa (LOVE ALL HER STORYLINES!!!) but there's always something that is missing. This book would have been 5 stars for me had it not been for the circling around with the same old same old! Gah! That's frustrating and I did eyeroll for a few times. (Sorry, Pamela! As much as I love Jared and Gisele, they did act so ridiculous sometimes I wanted to shake them! I get they're crazy in love but they act TOO immature!). This is not a 5 star but this book will surely make it to my favorites bookshelf :) Looking forward to the other characters' books (if they will have their own. Blaire and Vivienne were interesting)

4.5 stars Excellent contemporary billionaire romance. This was a different book from what I've had the pleasure of reading in the past from Ms. Ann. Gisele is 18 and lived through one tragedy already. Upon learning of another impending loss she is a confused and hurting young woman. Jared helps run her father's company. Peter, her father, always considered Jared the son he never had. They both hold secrets that can be very destructive to a relationship. Jared has no qualms about flitting from woman to woman. Unfortunately, for Gisele she has always strongly cared for Jared even though he's a decade older. Each main character does and says hurtful things so where the book led was unique. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I had a hard time putting this book down. Read it in a day and a half as I could wait to see what happened next. I loved these two characters. They are both good people on their own as a person, but there were times when I really did not think they were good for each other. They sizzled beneath the sheets, but had more bad times than good.

I could feel their hurt and anger, and passion. And that makes it a great book to me, when they suck you in and make me feel what they feel.

One question left unanswered was there was no conclusion to what was in the secret room in the basement. There were many refences to it but nothing happened with that room??

Peter Weber is Jared mentor and he is slated to take over Peter's Company one day. Gisele, Peter's daughter has always had a crush on Jared and has saved her virginity for him. An emotional roller coaster with more twists and surprises than you can imagine. Jared and Gisele have chemistry that's off the charts but they're like oil and water. Both are immature in their own way and difficult at best. Throw in a threesome with (1)memories of a dead wife, (2) a mistress who looks like his late wife and (3) Gisele. A marriage of convenience and a love-hate relationship between Gisele and Jared will have you pulling your hair out in anguish at times. Quite a read. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review it.

Gisele is an 18 year old with money. Great combination right? Or maybe prey for men trying to her money. Then walks in Jared whom she has had a crush on since she was a kid. He is older, is hot, had money, and her fathers right hand man. Gisele tries her hardest to get Jared's attention but his past keeps him held back and the fact that Gisele is is mentors daughter. What would he do? What does her father suggest? Would he listen to a dying mans last wishes?

This story is a very non-traditional one with many obstacles. But love breaks down all the barriers!

I loved the book! I really didn't like either of the main characters. They were rich, spoiled, beautiful people used to getting what they wanted. But somehow I was sucked into the story of the 18 year old girl being in love with her father's favorite employee (and the person in line to take over his company). He has been keeping his distance from her but she is going to try and change that. The clothes, the locations, the steamy sex scenes - great reading!

Loved all frustration between Jared and Gisele. This book left some questions for me. Like about Ginny, what was going on with her friend, or did she tell Jared that she wasn't pregnant?
