Dave Eggers, born in 1970, is an American author, publisher and editor. Eggers went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with the purpose of getting a journalism degree but had to say goodbye to his studies because of the deaths of his parents in 1991–1992. He has founded a publishing firm named McSweeney's that publishes a journal, a magazine and books. It also publishes Voice of Witness, a nonprofit book series. Eggers has also cofounded 826 National, a network of 7 tutoring hubs all over the country.

On her first day at work, the campus of the Circle seems like heaven to 24-year-old Mae Holland. The innovative technology company is less than six years old but has acquired the status of being among the most prominent around the globe. The Circle, which has brought together all online interactions of an individual including personal and business communications, social media existence, medical information, etc., in the form of an online identity known as TruYou, aims to include all other pieces of information across the planet in a virtual existence. It also aims to utilize technological innovation to give rise to a more effective and responsible society where there will be increased transparency in personal lives, the corporate sector, government, etc.
