Forbidden Desires #3

Torrid Little Affair

Rate this book
The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else. And I have the perfect candidate all picked out.

My new assistant is tempting beyond belief with her curvy body and take-no-shit attitude. All those luscious curves, and a juicy ass I’m already in love with. God, the things that I would do to that ass…

But it’s the haunted look in her eyes that speaks to me. Like she’s taken just as much shit in her past as I have—maybe more. We both deserve a little fun.

Love can’t fix everything. Mind-blowing sex and a few killer orgasms, on the other hand?

I have a feeling those might do the trick.

This is book three in the Forbidden Desires series, and while it can be read as a standalone, it’s recommended you start with Dirty Little Secret.

Something about this woman—the feel of her, the taste of her, just her general presence—made me want to know her. To have her completely as my own.

Cooper is the youngest of the Kingsley brothers and the one with the biggest heart. In the previous book, his heart had been broken when Emma chose his older brother Gavin over him. So Cooper left Boston to get away for a while and has been losing himself to alcohol and a different woman every night, but months later he still hasn’t gotten over the rejection. After nearly six months he’s being summoned back by his older brother Quinn, who threatens to cut him off if he doesn’t return to Boston.

Cooper’s pleasantly surprised when he meets the new executive assistant on his first day back in the office. He mistakenly thinks that she is a gift to him from his brother and becomes an HR nightmare when he propositions Corinne right in his office. He realizes his error in judgment when she runs out of his office in tears. But what does he do the next time they’re together? He offers to help her with her issues with physical intimacy after she tells him about her hangup.

I really liked Cooper in the previous books but he lacked finesse and charisma in his story. His desperation made him unattractive to me and the plot had so many holes in it that I struggled to get through the story. My love for the author is what kept me invested until the end and although this was my least favorite book so far in this series, it did improve a bit later on.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 3
Heroine: 3
Plot: 2.5
Angst: 3
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 3

4 stars!

description

When I’m in the mood for a quick, sexy, read- Kendall Ryan is one of my go-to authors. I listened to the audio book of Torrid Little Affair and it didn’t disappoint. It was a short and steamy read and just what I was hoping for. It also didn’t hurt that one of my favorite narrators, Zachary Webber, narrated Cooper!

Cooper Kingsley has had his heart broken… by his brother’s girl. It’s not a good place to be. But you know what they say, the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else. Cooper’s new assistant, Corinne fits the bill. Corinne and Cooper start with a sex only relationship, but with time, things between them start to evolve.

Corinne is one of those heroines with a huge heart and that became apparent pretty early on. I thought she was wonderful. Cooper and Corinne were a great match with tons of chemistry. I always love when the feelings start to change and grow and getting to watch that. Watching Cooper Kingsley really truly fall for a girl was a sight to behold.

Torrid Little Affair was a great listen, and I sped through to finish it. I hope there is one more book in this series, because I would love to get a book about the oldest Kingsley brother, Quinn!

“The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else. And I have the perfect candidate all picked out.”

Yay!!! First read of 2018 done and dusted… Kendall Ryan is one of those authors I will always read, and even though I somewhat enjoyed Torrid Little Affair, I have to say it is not my favorite of hers to date. Kendall Ryan does what she does best and that is write a steamy hot as hell novel. To be honest, that is probably what kept me invested and entertained throughout.

Cooper has been MIA for the past 6 months, nursing a broken heart and his solution in order to forget involves a string of meaningless one night stands, whilst drowning his sorrows at the bottom of a bottle of bourbon. There comes a time when you have to face reality and realise things are what they are, move on and get on with your life.

When Cooper returns to work after his 6 month sexual sabbatical, he finds a sexy as sin woman with curves for days sitting in his office. Thinking his brothers have bought him a sexual plaything as a way to get over his woes, he starts to make his move. To say this was a case of mistaken identity and that it was a very bad move is an understatement as she flees from the room in tears.

Corinne has been hired as Cooper’s new assistant at Forbidden Desires Escort agency and is not his sexual playmate as initially thought by Cooper. When Corinne runs from the room crying, Cooper knows he has to do some serious damage control and he therefore apologises for his error in judgement. Corinne builds up the courage to admit to Cooper that she has not been with a man for a long time and as a result, has issues getting close to people. Cooper has a solution for her intimacy concerns and proposes a no strings attached sexual relationship.

To be honest this was probably my main issue with this story; one minute Corrine is running from the room crying because Cooper propositions her and almost in the next breath, he is offering her a no strings attached relationship and they have only just met. Naturally she tells him she has to take a few days to think it over, no prizes for guessing what her answer is…

While I do enjoy Kendall Ryan and will obviously continue to one-click her books, this unfortunately was not a favorite of mine, the plot line and character development were lacking for me. I knew the pain and heartache Cooper had been through, so I was hoping he would get his HEA and be someone’s first and only choice for once. Some scenes were seriously off the Richter scale hot and at one point I wasn’t sure if it was the hot Australian sun or my kindle heating me up. Overall I rate Torrid Little Affair 3 stars and I have high hopes for the rest in the series.

“Second place was first loser. And I knew that better than anyone.”

Awww, my sweet Cooper was so hurt by the events of the previous books so I really wanted him to get his own HEA. It was obvious in Book 1 that he was so sweet and an all around great guy, but not THE ONE. So, here we are after the fact and his living the wild life. Going into this book, I was so worried that his character would change and I wouldn’t enjoy him as much. Well, I needn’t have worried. Kendall Ryan wrote this perfectly!! It was a great progression and I truly enjoyed how all the events play out.

What stood out most for me are the main characters. Obviously, I think Cooper is a great male lead, but Corinne also a wonderful character. She is loyal, sweet, selfless, and hardworking. She exhibits amazing characteristics and is someone I could see myself being friends. Cooper’s a nice guy. The type who would take great care with any woman and Corinne is the type of woman who needs that special care. They’re a perfect match.

The plot is pretty straightforward…initially. It’s an office romance where the spunky assistant gives as good as she gets. But there a few twists the reader doesn’t see coming. I LOVED that about this book! It keeps us on our toes as reader. It’s very well plotted and executed.

Another reason why this was a hit was the relationship development or rather redevelopment between Gavin and Cooper. I was so worried the hit their relationship took would leave lasting effects. It was handled beautifully in Torrid Little Affair.

Overall, my lasting impression is that this book made me happy. That’s really all I hope for as a reader, so it was a major win. Kudos to Kendall Ryan for delivering another great read!

Sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen.
She's his new PA and not a prostitute.
This heroine must be really stupid to think that is a pickup line. She also tells him that she felt flattered by his offer and she has hangups about sex and he told her he could help her all in a first day's work ladies and gentlemen. And btw the man is in love with his brother's wife.

“It’s Cooper. And you are?”
A distraction.
My new little fuck-toy.
She rose to her feet, standing before me in a pair of four-inch heels that did nothing to even out our massive height difference. “I’m Corinne O’Neil. Your brothers hired me. They thought—”
“I know what they thought. They thought I needed a good, hard fuck, and they sent you in to do the job. Is that it?”
I ran my thumb along the side of her cheek as Corinne shuddered and let out a gasp. She staggered back a step, bracing her hands against the desk behind her.
“Sir?”
I cocked my head, studying her in amusement. “You are the new girl, correct? The one they hired just for me?”
“Yes, but . . .”
“But what?” I closed the distance between us, stroking her cheek again, appreciating how soft it felt, and how warm and pink it grew under my appraisal. “Instead of dropping to your knees to take my cock in your mouth, you’re going to act all shy and embarrassed? Save it. There’s no need for games. Not with the amount we’re paying you.”
Twin blotches of color appeared high in her cheeks.
“Get on with it,” I barked, tugging open my belt.
Corinne burst into tears and fled from my office.
What the fuck?”

So I skimmed through... And if you don't want the story spoiled don't click on the spoiler.

With her Forbidden Desires books, Ryan has created a delicious trio of brothers, each one more intriguing than the last. This sexy new entry in the series follows Cooper Kingsley – the youngest, most laid back and desperately looking for the forever kind of love brother – as he falls for his new, shy and distant assistant Corrine. The questions about forbidden office romances and love being able to conquer all are challenges for both hero and heroine who struggle between wanting more, everything in fact, from each other but only being able to have a limited casual relationship.

Getting over a broken heart isn’t an enjoyable process, especially when the person who broke it is now happily married to your brother. Not even distance, time, alcohol and women have been able to help Cooper get over Emma choosing his brother over him.

Now that Cooper is back home and in office to face reality though, all thoughts of his sister-in-law are replaced with deliciously raunchy and inappropriate images of his new assistant who seems to be equally attracted to him but is reluctant acknowledge it, not just because of their boss-subordinate relationship, but because of deeper secrets she’s unwilling to share. Until he makes her a no string strings attached offer she can’t refuse. But can his heart be satisfied with just her body? Can he convince her to be his everything?

Torrid Little Affair is the third book in the Forbidden Desires series by Kendall Ryan. It can be read as a standalone, but would be better enjoyed if the readers stars with Dirty Little Secret. It is told from both points of view and has a happy ending.

Torrid Little Affair is a stand alone and is the third book from the Forbidden Desires series. You can read the books out of order (except for the first two books), but I highly suggest you read the first two books prior starting this one only because Copper’s influence is huge in the first two books.

I liked Copper from the first books because he’s the dependable straight-up no games kind of guy. I like that he is direct and he’s basically a good guy. He’s coming off from being jilted and that has left Copper a little bitter, but he’s still a good guy.

I like all brothers equally and so it was easy for me to root for Cooper in this book. I wanted him to find his happy ever after just like his brother Gavin. Copper gets a new assistant, the only thing is, he mistakes her as for one of the escorts.

The meeting between Cooper and Corinne is completely adorable and funny. I love Corinne because she has a kind heart and she is selfless. She needs a job and working for a hunky boss is just an added benefit.

Do I like a boss / assistant relationship? Yes, I do. Do I like Copper and Corinne as characters? Yes, I do. I do wish it wasn’t a no-strings-attached relationship, however it adds a little nice tension between the two main characters and I also love it when the Hero chases after the Heroine. Because let’s face it, I always like it when the guy goes after the girl.

Corinne does have some fences up and it adds friction to the story, it will keep you on your toes and wondering how the relationship will play out. There is also a little bit of Gavin and Emma in there too! I do wish there was more of them.

Overall, this was a sweet and easy read. I found this story a little sweeter than the first two and lighter on the heart. I’m excited to see where the next story will take us. I really do hope it’s a bit more dramatic, only because I’m currently in that mood.

After reading books 1 and 2 in the Forbidden Desires series, I couldn't wait for Cooper's story. This is book 3 in the series, but it can be read as a complete stand alone. Characters from the previous books do appear, however.

I loved how patient and caring Cooper was, after a somewhat rocky start with Corinne. He has been burned by love and though he lost his way for a bit after Emma, he continues to love deeply and search for that connection. He is my favorite of the Kingsley brothers. Cooper and Corinne were both dealing with their own baggage, but through each other they found that missing peace in their lives. The push and pull started to be a bit much towards the end and Corinne especially confused me with her hot and cold behavior. When the secrets of the past are revealed, I felt like both their reactions were rash and confusing. I understand that they both were angry and unsure about what was brewing between them, but I wish they would have just avoided that drama with honesty. Once everything is out in the open though, it's more clear why the truth was initially so elusive.

This book is definitely instalust between Corinne and Cooper at first, but I did like that they then took the time to really get to know each other. Cooper really shined at the end and my heart was left happy and full. I also enjoyed checking in with Emma and Gavin from books 1 and 2. Overall, this is a sweet romance and I'm excited for Quinn's story next!

Having never read anything by Kendall Ryan, I wasn't too sure what I was getting myself into with TORRID LITTLE AFFAIR, but I did enjoy where the story took me. Not only is this book full off hope and second chances, it's also about acceptance of yourself and the life you live. A message we could all learn a little from.

Cooper has been burned. Burned hard. Loving someone who doesn't love you back can be a bitter pill to swallow. Running an escort business with your brothers and being surrounded by women all the time can either get you in the mood for lust...or love. With lust off the table, and only wanting love, but not getting any back in return, Cooper takes some time to drown in his sorrows away from the woman who broke his heart and leaves Boston to regroup. But when a call from his brother brings him back home after and extended vacation down in Florida with the promise of a surprise in female format, lust is the only thing on Copper's mind-LOVE is off the table. Until...

Corrine has had a pretty rough life. A deranged childhood, a massive blow in her late teens and an issue with sexual relationships puts her in a rather precarious position when she is propositioned to have a no-strings attached affair with her boss, Cooper. Coming on too strong should have sent her running for the hills, but his sweet nature and "no rush" attitude set her at ease and one thing led to another.

The problem: Secrets. Not on Coopers part, but on Corrine's. What I loved most about Coop was his honesty. His wonderful ability to make sure there was never any pressure on Corrine. He did everything he could to make the "relationship" comfortable for her. Aside from his initial reaction to her, which was kind of horrid, but he didn't know any better (HELLO, BROKEN TELEPHONE), I simply adored Cooper and his patience. Even when he found out all of Corrine's secrets, he never judged or hated on the situation. He picked himself up and dusted himself off, and got down to business trying to make everything right, the best he knew how.

I had a few hang ups with Corrine. She seemed a bit juvenile to me at times, but I couldn't figure it out if it had to do with her upbringing, or her a passiveness that I couldn't get on board with. I admired her for what she did to cherish someone special in her life, but she forgot to take care of herself in so many ways that is almost made her child like. Until she figured out how to let loose and go with the flow, I was both in awe of her and irritated. (If that's even possible!)

I will say that this book is a quick, easy, fast paced read, with not a lot of depth. There are some very intense themes going on, but the ones with real potential were sort of lost in all the surface level business. There were some minor issues with continuity that stood out for me, and I always hone in on those and they get stuck in my head!

I did jump into this series during book three, and even though this can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading book 1 and 2 first. I think they may help with the character development as I feel that was lacking during this book-because it probably already happened!

I was intrigued and wanted to know where these two ended up. I was happy with the end game, but a little iffy on how they got there. I do love Cooper though-such a stand up, honest and caring man. Corrine is lucky to have him.

It’s official—Cooper Kingsley is by far my ultimate favorite Kendall Ryan man! He’s just everything I ever wanted in a book boyfriend and more. He’s so sweet and thoughtful, so charming and selfless; a man with a tender side who’s not afraid to show his under belly and his vulnerabilities. But at the same time, he’s still the kind of alpha that I crave. I honestly just wanted to be wrapped up in him forever and marry him.

Corinne O’Neil, on the other hand, was a much more complicated character. She was shy and timid as she was bold and sensual. It was contradicting, yes, but she lived such a tough life loaded with too much a person as young as she was to bear. I can’t say that I would’ve have agreed with every move and every decision she made, but once you go deeper into the story—the more you learn about how she grew up—you’d also realize just how much she truly has sacrificed.

This book... I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is about it that I love so much—maybe because there’s just so many things to devour and appreciate about it, but I was blown away. Torrid Little Affair not only captured my attention completely, but my heart and ovaries as well. Everything’s just near-bursting limits right now. Hell, Cooper even made me want to weep because of all the pain and heartache he went through, and because I was swooning too much, too hard over him.

The huge mystery of Corinne’s past, the skeletons in both their closets... they’re all enough to get you glued to your reading device and hang onto every single moment. It’s absolutely intriguing, you won’t be able to stop until you unravel the truth to both these phenomenal characters. Not to mention, the chemistry between Corinne and Cooper was just beyond explosive and electrifying, it’s enough to engulf you with so much love, passion and heat.

Even if you haven’t read the first two books in the series, this one can be read as a standalone and I definitely highly recommend it! Corinne and Cooper’s story is just one that begs to be read, savored and devoured all together.

UGH - Please do not hate me Kendall for rating this book so low. It was extremely hard to do but I am always honest in my reviews.

Another tough review for me.... BUT let me start off by saying if you love books that are fast paced, don't want a lot of details, and love a sweet romance, then this book is totally up your alley. However, if you are like me and need more...then proceed reading my review as to why this book just may not be a good fit.

The start of this book is tough for me to latch on to. It was too much, too fast and just so not believable. First time meeting the boss and she's opening up to him and he's throwing out ideas like it's normal for those conversations in a work place. Yes, it's an escorting business, but she's the scheduler and he's the owner - that shit doesn't fly as normal, every day convo for seasoned employees, let alone newbies. I won't say what they discuss (don't want to ruin the book) but it's definitely not "How do you take your coffee?"

Corrine comes across as very shy and insecure when it comes to sex. Plus she is also very inexperienced and that adds to her being even more timid. I love that Cooper is slow and cautious with her. But around the mid-way point, it seems as though they moved beyond oral sex into actual sex and everything else is glossed over. Well, at about 70% you realized that's not the case and they are finally having sex, but the whole guidance and making her feel comfortable in her own skin when it comes to sex (which was his whole point of the agreement) is completely glossed over. Which for me, is quite irritating. If the basis of the agreement is to get her more comfortable, I expect more from that area - not just an overview from Cooper's POV at 70% that she has definitely become more at ease since they first met.

Cooper is a complete gentleman, through and through. He's kind, patient, attentive and so attuned to Corrine. For someone who is recovering from having his heart trampled on, I'd say he's moving forward quite well. I love that he's willing to help Corrine find her strengths and still keep things professional at work and not mix the two. That takes a lot of restraint. I was happy to see that Kendall did not change Coop's demeanor in anyway either.

This book is definitely more contemporary romance than anything. However, I did expect to see more sexy scenes than we were given. I felt a bit let down in those areas. We had a lot build up to those scenes and then when things were about to get hot and heavy, the chapter ended and we were starting a whole new scene. I'm not expecting some porno scnes or anything, I just expected those scenes to be explored more. Again - everything was glossed over. I felt this hurt is allowing me to relate to the characters and seeing how Corrine grew.

Overall, the book was ok. I really enjoyed the story line. I just had a hard time with how everything played out and how glossed over certain aspects were. I think a lot fell flat and that hurt the connection to the characters and their story. I love Kendall's writing, I think I am just wanting more depth to my books than this.

If you love a quick, easy read that doesn't have a lot of depth to the characters or story, this book is for you.

TORRID LITTLE AFFAIR is book #3 in Kendall Ryan’s delectable Forbidden Desires Series. Some people may find that this can be read as a standalone, but I recommend starting with book #1, DIRTY LITTLE SECRET.

“What kind of offer was that anyway? He wanted to help me overcome my fear of physical intimacy? Who did he think he was? A sex god who’d make my problems disappear with a single wave of the magical wand between his legs?”

You are ALWAYS GUARANTEED a good time with a Kendall Ryan romance! Fast-paced, sexy as hell, and emotional to boot - TORRID LITTLE AFFAIR was an absolute DELICIOUS ROMANCE that had my heart pumping and my toes curling with each turn of the page. Ms. Ryan consistently delivers the PERFECT BALANCE of sexy and sweet, bringing us all to our knees with swoony heroes and feisty heroines. In giving us dual POV with the hero and heroine, we get a well-rounded contemporary romance that is both entertaining and steamy HOT! I loved these characters and they couldn’t have been better suited for one another.

From their instant chemistry and hilarious misunderstandings, to their witty banter and hilarious commentary, to their insanely erotic love making and the sweet scenes in between - TORRID LITTLE AFFAIR was an enticing romance that left me with my heart fluttering and my cheeks ablaze! Kendall Ryan never disappoints and if you haven’t experience her glorious writing, you are definitely missing out on something truly special. She reminds me with each new release of hers, why I love reading romance. If you ever need a reminder yourself…pick up one of her books today! If anything it will leave you with a HUGE smile on your face when you’re done.

I did love Cooper very much in previous books. He was understanding, caring and just adorable. This Cooper though was nothing like the previous books Cooper.

It hurt very much to see Cooper hurt and at points, I hated Gavin for being butt-headed. But this one just didn't work for me.

I hate when the MCs get together just for the sake of sex or exploration or whatever. It's something I can't connect with.

Not going to pick up the last one from the series.

Torrid Little Affair by Kendall Ryan is the newest standalone in the Forbidden Desires Series that chronicles the Kingsley brothers. In the first two books, we witness Gavin finding love and getting his happily ever after and now it’s time for Cooper Kingsley to get his. **Note: While Torrid Little Affair can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend you to read the first two books so you would get a better understanding of Cooper. **

db30a312638649e05105111f25b06d In this moment, I was with him, and I wanted him to know what it was to be with me—needed to show him how much I cared for him and wanted him. Needed him to feel all the things I could never say aloud. He groaned louder, his hips flexing against me now. “Yes, baby, just like that.”

When Cooper returns from his much needed getaway, he is greeted with a new personal assistant. Corinne right off the bat intrigues Cooper. He wants her and is well aware that she is very much attracted to him as well. And so when he proposes her an offer, Corinne can’t seem to refuse. Cooper ignites something inside Corinne that she never had experienced before. But what happens when Cooper discovers her secret? What was meant to be a torrid little affair with no strings attached, could actually be more? How far will Cooper and Corinne go to save their relationship?

Torrid Little Affair is a sweet balance of romance and heat. Kendall Ryan does a terrific job in creating lovable characters and a storyline to keep her readers entertained. So if you are looking for a low angst, sweet and passionate love story that will make you smile big time then this book is for you.

It's pretty much a given that I will read any and all Kendall Ryan book. I absolutely love her sexy alphas and sassy heroines and honestly could not get enough of Gavin, Emma and Cooper in the previous Forbidden Desires books so I was SOO excited to get more of Cooper in Torrid Little Affair! Gahh Copper and Corinne were pure FIRE!! Their banter was snappy and on point and their chemistry was combustible. I just loved their story.

Nursing his wounds and his damaged heart after losing the girl he cared for, Cooper Kingsley is blindsided when his new assistant rocks his world at first glance. What follows is a HOT and SEXY office romance of epic proportions where lines get crossed and emotional boundaries are breached and torrid secrets are revealed!

I really loved this book and seeing a more vulnerable side to Cooper after the affable and funny guy in books one and two. I loved the connection he had with Corinne and how he wanted to help bring her out of her shell. Realistically speaking, their initial meeting seemed very unrealistic honestly, but I just went with it because the story was just so damn good. I was always entertained from beginning to end and did not want to put it down. All in all, this was a fantastic addition to the series and I cannot wait for Quinn's book! Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula

Honesty time here. I was very afraid to read this book and I was stalling because I thought Cooper was going to be a very bitter man for a large part of the book. As it turned out, I loved it from fee first chapter when I realised that I wouldn't have to read about his manwhoring ways. All that is behind him. He meets Corrine and that's it for him. He is solely focused on her and how to win her over. I loved that man. Cooper wasn't the man I was afraid he would be. He was the sweet kind man I believed he was. I simply loved the book. Corinne is a troubled woman who is dealing very well with all the things life threw at her. I would have liked to see her and Cooper interacting more with Aaron because to me he was mostly a name and not an actual character. Both of them developed nicely, mostly Cooper. I could go on and on about him, but I won't waste your time saying how amazing he was. He is book boyfriend material and I want you to find that out yourselves. The third book was a big improvement from the first two. A big reason I am excited when I think of this book is that. The story for me had a better construction and it was more on point about the couple. Great book, go read it!

This is the third book in the forbidden desires series. We met Cooper at the beginning of the series and I was so excited for Cooper to get his own Happily Ever After. Cooper is trying to get over heartbreak and he thinks Corinne is the perfect solution. He never intends to start a relationship, much less fall in love. I loved seeing Cooper fall for Corinne and get his happily ever after after everything hes been throuh.

Oh, Cooper.

*sigh* Cooper, Cooper, Cooper....

He finally gets his own HEA. Or does he??...

We all fell in love with Cooper in book 1 of the Forbidden Desires series. And our hearts also broke right along with his. We're finally given an inside look into his mind, and the not-so-hidden turmoils he's endured trying to nurse his broken spirit. He's quite a unique character...lovable, funny, and just an overall good guy. Throw in his gorgeous good looks and effervescent personality, and any woman would be lucky enough to call him hers.

I was immediately intrigued with how Cooper was going to handle going back to working along side his brother, Gavin. We all know what, or more like WHO, came between them. But I had faith in Cooper. He just needed something, or should I say SOMEONE, to take his mind off his heartbreak. Cue: Corinne.

Now Corinne was someone that surprised me. Not her introduction per se, more the characteristics she displayed. Her reserved and quite private personality made it difficult to truly understand the type of character she was. Who was she? And what hidden secrets does she keep? I, right along with Cooper, was desperate to find out.

The character's initial meeting was, shall I say, unconventional. And as their relationship, both business and personal, continued along those same lines, I couldn't help but wonder if these two really belonged together. But as the book progressed, it was evident that Cooper and Corinne complimented each other wonderfully, giving one another what the other needed. And their shared passion was unbelievably hot and their chemistry together was off the charts!

Torrid Little Affair was exactly wanted readers needed for Cooper's story. Emotional, intriguing, and scintillating, this book is an absolute must read that will only make you fall more in love with Kendall Ryan's writing!

4.5 SMOOCHES!

Torrid Little Affair is the third book in Kendall Ryan’s Forbidden Desires series, which began with Dirty Little Promise, a book that has earned a spot on my 2017 top favorites list. Ryan created an intriguing, sexy and emotional series in Forbidden Desires, and after finishing the first two books, I was very excited for Cooper’s story. Technically Torrid Little Affair can be read as a standalone, but I strongly recommend reading this series in order.

Love triangles aren’t exactly my favorite, but Kendall Ryan did a phenomenal job with the one she created in Dirty Little Promise and Dirty Little Secret. Despite his difficult childhood, Cooper really is a good guy. He’s sweet, romantic and he was so good to Emma, even as it pained him to be there for her while she was falling for his brother. He knew going into that situation that he was going to get his heart broken, and that portion of Cooper’s story leaves off with him heading out of town to lick his wounds.

Torrid Little Affair picks back up six months later when Cooper’s brothers summon him back to work. I’d like to say that Corinne and Cooper had a sweet little meet cute, but this is no workplace romcom. What these two did have, though, was some seriously sizzling chemistry. Despite the awkwardness of the situation, right off the bat, they just clicked. A bombshell beauty, Corinne seemed to lack confidence and experience with men, something that Cooper seemed to pick up on right away. He makes her a very unconventional offer, after carefully considering his proposal, she takes him up on it.

These two were so sync that there was no fighting the pull even though Corinne tried. It was obvious that she was holding back, but Cooper didn’t know why. When her secret finally is revealed, Cooper can either allow himself to once again be the man left broken hearted, or he can instead become the man with a plan. Cooper’s determination to make this relationship work was endearing and as admirable as Corinne’s loyalty in her situation.

Not quite as intense as the first two books in the series, Torrid Little Affair was emotional and sexy and a fantastic addition to this incredible series. I loved Cooper and Corinne, I loved their story, and I’m very much looking forward to the oldest Kingsley brother, Quinn’s story. Torrid Little Affair by Kendall Ryan gets 4.5 smooches from me!

After witnessing Cooper’s heartbreak in Emma and Gavin’s story, I definitely was ready for Cooper Kingsley to find his ‘one,’ and while I knew it would take Cooper time to sort out his feelings, using booze and one-night stands to distract him from the pain, I wasn’t prepared for him to be so flippant and even a bit douchey upon his return to Boston and his company, especially given the nature of the business and the type of lawsuits that could be filed due to his inappropriate introduction to his new assistant, Corinne O’Neil.

Cooper, though, quickly realizes his mistake and works to make amends, illustrating the type of man he truly is, but then he, once again, turns things sideways by enticing Corinne with a mutually beneficial, strictly physical after hours’ relationship, and god help her, but her attraction to Cooper makes her want to instantly take him up on his offer despite her physical intimacy hang-ups and the reason behind her simple life without attachments.

The way that Kendall Ryan allows Cooper and Corinne, two broken and lost souls, an avenue for them to find their way to fully living again works really well for Torrid Little Affairs’ story line and the fact that Ryan makes it perfectly clear how ‘into’ one another they are despite Corinne’s contention that she’s unavailable for anything more than sex gives fans of Cooper hope that Corinne will work through her hang-ups and be honest with Cooper about what’s holding her back from fully committing to their respective feelings for each other.

I really liked how Ryan uses Cooper and Corinne’s pasts as a bonding tool instead of as something that threatens to tear the couple apart and while readers aren’t privy to a lot of specifics, it’s clear that they were both scarred by their childhoods; Cooper’s need to not be second best for once stems from how little love he received growing up and Corinne’s initial move to run away scared is due to her inability to know how to deal with these all-consuming feelings she has for Cooper when he doesn’t quite know the whole truth about her present circumstances.

Like always, Kendall Ryan provides steamy scenes between her hero and heroine that help to prove just how much their bodies crave one another and how their bodies seem to know exactly what they want and need while their brains take a bit longer to catch up. Cooper is an amazing teacher when it comes to educating Corinne on the many pleasures of sex, and while her fears prevent her from initially giving herself to Cooper, he finds a way to make Corinne trust him and in her wildest dreams, she never thought she would find such a loving, generous, and protective man who could give her everything she lacked as a child, which makes things that much harder for her because her dishonesty might cost her all of it.

Little Torrid Affair is a sexy and sweet romance; readers can’t help but cheer for Cooper when he sets his sights on Corinne and although she’s a bit prickly, the woman she allows herself to be with Cooper afterhours is the woman she should always be no matter what she promised of herself when she was just a teen. Both Cooper and Corinne have never truly been put first and now that they have the opportunity to be exactly that with one another, they need to hold on tight and weather the storm, even if it’s a maelstrom of their own doing.

Torrid Little Affair by Kendall Ryan ~ 4.5 Stars
Torrid Little Affair is the third book from the Forbidden Desires series and it can be read as a stand-alone. However, you really don’t want to miss Dirty little secret and dirty little promise. They are fantastic and it will give you a little bit of a background on Cooper which will explain why Cooper was away nursing a broken heart at the beginning of this book.
I love Cooper from the previous book so when I found out he did not get a HEA I was praying for his story. Cooper is a nice, dependable, loyal, sweet guy. He loved a woman who eventually chose the more broody, uncommitted, asshole-ish brother Gavin. Don’t get me wrong… Gavin and Emma are meant to be and they are exactly as they should be – together. That did not stop Cooper from taking an extended holiday hiding in Florida.
The beginning of Torrid Little Affair starts out with a big bang and it was HILARIOUS. The brothers decided it was time for Cooper to come home. They staged an intervention of sorts, hiring a new assistant (a gift) and summoning Cooper back to work. The first day back in the office Cooper thought the newly hired Corrine was an escort his brothers sent to help him get over his sorrows. What Cooper did next sent Corrine running straight to the bathroom crying. I felt bad for Corrine but I was also dying laughing - it was so funny. Cooper was looking for a good time in the sack but boy, was he mistaken.
Corrine is adorable – she is sweet, funny, kind and innocent in a way. She had a rough start in life that left her a huge responsibility of caring for her childhood friend. She is sexually inexperienced and not too acquainted with the world, so when Cooper propositions Corrine for a boss/assistant, no strings attached relationship, she’s intrigued. What happens when the platonic relationship turns into something deeper and neither wants it to end. Corrine can’t promise Cooper a future he deserves. Cooper is determined not to let her go regardless of her situation and her secrets… Well, the ending is so sweet. For a short story, this book is packed with all the feels and hearts. It was beautiful, swoon worthy, sexy, and romantic. I devoured this baby in one sitting – now I am dying to read about Quinn.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

The third book in the series, this one is about the ever charming and sensitive Cooper Kingsley. We got to know him in the first two books of course, but this one is his own story.

I’m not a huge fan of the insta love/lust thing that goes on in these books, but once I got into the meat of the storyline it wasn’t so bad. Coop seems to fall fast and hard, so I chalk it up to just being his personality.

Corinne was probably more of a highlight of this one than Cooper for me to be honest. We already know so much about Coop from the first two books, but having Corinne in this one, with all her secrets and fears, gave me something that I knew I wanted to find out. Towards the end I did guess one of the things coming, but it wasn’t really that much before it happened, so for the majority of the story I was wondering what would come out.

Coop and Corinne revealing themselves to each other and getting to know each other is a really nice storyline and I also really enjoyed Mauve as a secondary character too. Of course seeing Gavin, Emma and Quinn back in this one was great too.

The story rolls well in this and there is little to angst, which as I have mentioned in other reviews is really nice most of the time, unless you’re looking to read a book with a lot of angst in it. Coop is a sweetheart so this was a really nice and easy read.

Interested in seeing what the next instalment brings, considering it will be Quinns story.

This was a fun and HOT book!

Chapter one had me laughing and everything after that was fabulous.

I read this book in ONE SITTING!

I think my favorite thing about Torrid Little Affair was how it pulls out your emotions. Cooper is so hurt about his past relationship failure with Emma. Corrine is scarred from a bad past and is having a hard time opening up to Cooper even though she really wants to. Watching their relationship bloom is really a workout for your emotions.

I also enjoyed all of the secondary characters and Cooper's past has me super inquisitive about Gavin and Emma. Seems like Quinn is up next and he has an aloof playboy attitude that I cannot wait to see get knocked around by the right woman!

I believe this is the first Kendall Ryan book I have read. I know...which rock have I been living under. This seems to be a good representation of what she delivers and I am for sure going back for more Kendall Ryan stories!

Going back for book one and two...anticipating book 4!

4 Little Dove Stars!

“This thing between us–whatever it was–was powerful. Overwhelming.”

“Something abut this woman–the feel of her, the taste of her, just her general presence–made me want to know her. To have her completely as my own.”

“I wasn’t generally a cuddler–at least, I hadn’t been for a long time–but tugging her against my chest was a powerful instinct. I needed her close, needed her safe. I needed her to understand that I would protect her, that I would look out for her needs. Emotional, physical, all of them.”

My heart ached for Cooper after the events of Dirty Little Secret. He was so unexpected, so sweet, and boy did he ever deserve love. So, when I heard that he was getting his own book….Well, I just couldn’t wait to get my greedy hands on Torrid Little Affair.

Torrid Little Affair picks up about 6 months after Dirty Little Secret. Cooper has been drowning his feelings and trying to forget about the woman he could never have. However, as life would have it, Cooper could only escape for a little while. Real life was calling and it was time for him to get back in to it. Cooper is a mess, but he is trying to move on. The one thing he never saw coming…Corinne. Shy. Sweet. Unbelievably Sexy Corinne. Something about this woman just called to him; made him feel things he couldn’t quite understand. He just had to know more about her. Only, there is more to Corinne than meets the eyes. Sure she’s shy, but she’s also scared and guarded. The pull between Corinne and Cooper is a strong one and one that can’t be denied. Will Cooper be able to break down Corinne’s walls and show her all that she’s been missing? There is only one way to find out…..

Torrid Little Affair was an intriguing and captivating read. I was hooked on Cooper and Corinne from the very beginning and was dying to know more. I love, love, loved getting to know more about Cooper. He is so much more than I was expecting. Complicated, but desperate for a love he’s never experienced. And Corinne….this woman had quite the mystery about her. She was afraid of some many things: letting someone in, moving on, taking a chance on love. I wanted to know what made her this way and I couldn’t help but root for her to find her way. Together, Cooper and Corinne were off the charts. I mean, the sparks between them were intense and just burned up the pages. I couldn’t get enough of the two of them. I loved watching them open up to one another, take risks and navigate their way to a happily ever after.

Overall, I thought this book was a really great read. I loved getting lost in Corinne and Cooper’s story and easily finished it just one sitting. I think this book was a great addition to The Forbidden Desires Series and I look forward to seeing who will fall next…
